Rkthegreat11 - I love the mama bird/baby bird interactions too. We'll be seeing a lot more of that in the future. And yes, Qrow is the coolest of uncles, though my writing can hardly do him justice.

Chapter 6: Chryseis On The Horizon

Entering the training center, Corvus could see that the building was a lot bigger than it looked from the outside. The large room was filled with small sections dedicated for sparring, with a firing range along the back and an assortment of training weapons in racks on the walls. The room was already quite full but Qrow managed to find the two a spot for themselves.

"Alright kid… Show me what you've got!"

Corvus eagerly unsheathed his shoto while Qrow just stood there expectantly, waiting for him to make a move. Corvus quickly advanced towards him and opened with a flurry of attacks which Qrow dodged with little effort. He allowed Corvus to keep going for a short while longer before swiftly kicking him in the shin causing him to fall to one knee. Corvus looked up to see Qrow standing there with an annoying grin on his face.

"C'mon kiddo, that all you got?"

Letting out a frustrated growl, he got back to his feet to charge at Qrow again. The man pulled out his sword and lazily blocked Corvus' strike before pushing him away, sending him stumbling a good few feet back. Undeterred, he moved to continue his assault, but before he was in striking distance he saw Qrow swing his blade towards him, hoping to catch him as he approached. Corvus used his left foot to leap to his right, out of the way of the attack and then quickly swing towards Qrow's left side. But the huntsman was too quick for him, bringing his sword up to deflect the attack and then sending Corvus to the floor by sweeping him off his feet with his leg.

"Y'know, you're pretty good for your age kid. I see your mom taught you well."

"Pretty good? I haven't even hit you yet!" Corvus said, frustrated.

"Of course you haven't, I'm a fully trained huntsman." Qrow said as he helped Corvus to his feet. "But you're still pretty decent. Most people who fight at your age probably wouldn't even get close to landing a hit on me, but you nearly got me with that last strike, I'll admit. You keep training and you'll be as strong as your mom one day. Hell, maybe even stronger."

"Indeed."

Corvus and Qrow turned to see a large blonde man wearing red and gold armour approaching them, with a small red-haired girl hiding behind him.

"This one will grow to be a fine warrior one day Qrow."

"Yeah, he will if his mother and I have anything to say about it." Qrow responded. "Corvus, remember those founders I told you about earlier? This is one of them."

"You may call me Chryseis, young man. I must say your skills are already quite impressive. Why, they're nearly on par with my daughter's here. She's around your age I believe." He said as he gestured to the girl behind him, who shyly hid behind her father's leg as Corvus looked at her.

While Corvus felt pride in the fact that this man, who he assumed was also a huntsman, was impressed with him, he didn't like the implication that this girl was more skilled than he was.

"Nearly?" He said with slightly furrowed brows.

"Uh oh." Qrow jokingly said. "You've kicked the nest there Chry'. He's quite a competitive kid."

Chryseis smiles at this. "Well how about you two have a little spar? My little girl here loves sparring, don't you dear?"

While the girl was still hiding behind her father, Corvus saw her bright green eyes light up when the man mentioned sparring. He liked her already.

"Let's give him a few minutes to relax first, Chry'. In the meantime, why don't we give these two a show, eh? Let them see fully fledged hunters in action."

"Ha! Alright my friend. Let us duel!"

"Raven, these are some of the people that have sighted the beast." Oran said as he gestured to two people standing before then. "They'll be joining us so they can give you information on it as we go. This is Murdoch..." The man In question wore red clothing with pitch black hair and blue eyes. Raven noticed that he was injured, if the way he was slouching said anything. "...and this is Captain Steele. She's second in charge of the town guard." Steele was a tall woman in grey armour. She had grey eyes, black hair and a large jagged horizontal scar disfiguring her left cheek.

"Pleased to meet you miss Branwen." The Captain said, with Murdoch nodding.

"Likewise. Oran, could we continue?"

"Yes, of course. Come, come." He gestured to them as he lead them towards the town wall.

"So, what can you tell me about this Grimm?"

"It's a strange one, that's for sure." Steele said. "Doesn't act like any other Grimm I've ever seen. I'm sure Oran has already told you about some of it's habits…"

"Destroying crops, killing livestock and in general just creeping people out at night instead of just killing everything, yes I know all about that. What else can you tell me?"

"Well, it comes to Komo-Rui very irregularly but it always frequents two locations: The farm and the residential area. We always have guards posted in these areas but this Grimm is very elusive, and fast. Once we catch sight of it, it will usually attack, but it's smart enough to pick its battles. If it feels it's overwhelmed then it'll retreat, and there's not much hope of catching it once it flees."

"What does it look like?"

"I don't know, I didn't get a good look at it. All I know is that it's bipedal and has a large claw on the end of its tail" Steele said as she turned her head to show off her scar.

"It looks like a wolf." Everyone turned to Murdoch as he spoke up. "Not a Beowulf, but an actual wolf. It's got the large claw on its tail like the captain said. It doesn't seem very strong, well, for a Grimm that is. But that claw packs a punch." He said as he lifted his shirt to reveal bandages beneath. "It's also quite small, too. It's only slightly bigger than a regular wolf."

Raven hummed in thought for a moment, thinking about how to deal with this Wolf-Grimm. "If we can trap it so that it can't escape, or ambush it then we won't have to worry about it's speed. So long as we don't mess it up."

"I'll see if I can get some people and resources together for that. Though keep in mind, we don't know if it'll show up tonight." Steele said.

"Doesn't matter Captain" Oran interjected. So long as we have a plan for the next time it visits, we'll be fine. Though I do hope it arrives soon. The negativity it's causing has been drawing more Grimm than I'd like."

Two chapters in one month? What is this?

To be honest I don't know how or why I was able to get this out this soon with how busy I've been with other stuff, but I'm not gonna complain.

Also, I've decided to just release smaller chapters instead of keeping you all waiting for longer ones, though I'll still try to keep them a decent length. You guys get more frequent updates, this story is on the front page more often and I feel like I'm accomplishing more. Wins all around!

Like always, I hope you enjoyed this chapter! I read and reply to all reviews so feel fry to leave one, and of course I'm open to any advice and criticism you guys have.

See you next time!
