When Sasha came into the series they made a YouTube video for Sasha "draw my life". So I've watched it and… Well, I hope I can still make a chapter of my own even though a lot of Sasha's story is in that video.

Here we go…

At first I'm just going to watch that video one more time…

Sasha and Dexter Bellman (And Murphy for that matter. Even though he's not in care, and wasn't born when Sasha was put in care)

Sasha Bellman was a little person.

Not that she was younger, she was twelve years old. But as people as old as her hit growth spurts she never did and knew she wouldn't either. It had shown already when she was born that she was going to be a little person. Maybe somewhere right around exactly one meter.

Most other people are 1,6… at least. And that's short for being normal height.

But, having been born with it Sasha never let it put her down, and never let her height interfere with what she was doing. Maybe, at the most how she was doing it.

And there was at least one thing. Good thing was it made it easier for her to hide.

Such as when she had pushed down a loaf of bread and a pack of milk in her backpack and then put the goal that she was going to leave the store without getting caught. Which was easier than it might sound.

All she had to do was to pull her backpack on, run, and as the alarms started ringing hide behind the nearest wall or piece of furniture she had.

But then, it didn't matter how easy it was for her to steal and then hide until the coast was clear. She had been in trouble with the boss at the store, the boss at the whole mall, the police and God knows what else about a thousand times.

And what she didn't know was that a few of them had even contacted the social services, suspicious that a twelve year old stealing as if she just needed food for the day rather than sweets or magazines had them worried.

"Here we are again, miss Bellman." Mr. Thatcher, the boss at the grocery store she usually tried and steal from sat on the other side of his desk from her, with her backpack on the desk and Sasha's head lowered in pretended shame. "What am I going to find if I open your bag?" He pulled the zipper open. "Not what I was expecting. Well, I never expect anyone to steal. But… young people stealing candy bars sand fizzy drinks I've seen before. Loads of times. But now, and every time we've caught you before you've been stealing bread, milk, cheese, yoghurt. Forgive me if I'm wrong Sasha. But it does look like you need food, but you can't afford it. And I say need and not want because every time we've been here you've promised you'll change your ways. And yet you keep stealing, and if there was something you needed to do then it would make sense. Wouldn't it?"

Sasha might be not as embarrassed as she pretended to be, but thoughts were still spinning in her mind and it was hard to come up with a lie.

Maybe she wouldn't have to lie… only hide the truth, pieces of the truth. Just a little…

"Mr. Thatcher." She started off as politely as she could. "You see. My mum's pregnant, and she haven't been able to work or make money. So I have had to provide to sort out food and other things for me and my brother to be able to make a living. You wouldn't deny me that, would you?"

Mr. Thatcher had seen Sasha's all ways to wrap him around her little finger. There was only the grocery store here and one more on the other side of town so those were the two Sasha came to, those she got caught at. Again, and again.

"Okay Sasha. I'll let you go for this time. But then you have to promise me not to do it again."

This was the only way they hadn't tried yet.

"I promise."

Sasha broke that promise.

And this time with someone who called the police whom then called the social services. A person only gets so many chances, and Sasha Bellman had run out of luck.

"Hello Sasha. My name is Steven Johnson and I'm a social worker. Do you know what a social worker does?" Sasha thought for only a second before shaking her head. "Well, as I think you know. Sometimes children or teenagers can't live with their real parents for a reason or another…"

Every word seemed to punch Sasha like a punch in the gut. Thoughts were spinning in her mind, she just couldn't quite understand what was going on.

She must have known still…

"We have been talking to your mother." Steven Johnson continued. "And we agreed on that it might be for the best if you… get away from your current home. Hopefully on a little while. But then hopefully your mum will get used to coping on her own, and you'll get used to cope without having to do everything around you. And then the ones around you can help you… sort out your behavior, become a bit more well- behaved. You know, where you don't have to steal or get in trouble with the law. How does that sound?"

"It sounds stupid!" Sasha had to force her voice not to shiver. "It sounds as if you think everything I do is to cause trouble. But I don't and I won't. But I… I am NOT going with you. I'm staying at home, with mum and with Dexter and with the baby when she or he is born. My mum's pregnant… she needs my help more than otherwise. I need to stay."

"Sorry kiddo." Steven sighed deeply. "This… has been sorted out… I just have to make a call and then we can get going." He pulled up a phone from his pocket and quickly dialed a number. "Hello…" Sasha tried to follow and listen to every word he said with only hearing this part of the conversation. But soon, all the thoughts spinning in her mind were louder than the words…

Steven Johnson was on the phone for a long time, then he hung up and noted some things in the papers he had in front of him. Sasha could feel her heart beat so hard it should be possible for him to hear it…

It was like she knew and understood that with what he wanted, everything she knew would be taken away in an instant. A part of her wanted him to look up and let her know what was going on. Another part wanted to hold onto this moment when she still didn't know what would happen.

"There. All done." After what felt like a year Steven hung up and laid his phone back on his desk. "I will be taking you to a home on Manning street…"

"But that's on the other side of town. At least two hours with a car away from here."

Steven didn't answer. But the look on his face said it all. He could only see the positive side about moving Sasha far away from her mum, her brothers and her home.

"And that's why it's good if we get started as soon as possible. I'm going to take you home, and you'll pack everything you need, all your things if you want. And then either your mum is home or she's not. And if your brother is home alone my colleague Mikayla will stay with him until your mum comes back home and I take you to your new home. Is everything clear?"

Way too clear. There was no more time or space for Sasha to hesitate or not understand.

And she didn't know what to do or say… so all through the way she, Steven and Mikayla rode his car to her (old) house she was quiet. And so she was when walking up her porch and into the house.

"DEX?"

"Sasha?" She and the two social workers could hear Dexter's voice and the TV put on a children's show when they came into the house. "What's for din…"

Dexter stopped at his heal when he stood in the doorway to the hallway and saw the two tall standing behind his very short sister, and also saw the broken hearted look on his sister's face.

"Who are you? What's going on?"

"Look, Dex. This is Steven and Mikayla. Is mum home?" Sasha already knew the answer and had it confirmed when Dexter shook his head. "Then Mikayla's going to stay with you. I have to… I have to go away for a while. Because… I haven't… I've been stealing and stuff and… Now they and their… company is going to take me away and… help me to… behave myself." She grimaced as if the words gave a bad taste in her mouth. "And… I have to get all my things and then Steven will take me away and Mikayla will stay with you until mum's home."

"Will you be gone for long?" Dexter looked about as confused as Sasha felt. "Will you be back home tonight? Or next week?"

Sasha looked up at Steven Johnson with a risen eyebrow. She wasn't so sure she wanted this answer.

"I'm sorry kiddo. But your sister isn't going to live here for a while now. And it's going to take a bit longer than a week before she's home again"

"But I don't know how to tie my shoelaces yet. She needs to be home and show me. And I keep putting them on the wrong foot."

Sasha forced away the tears when she ripped out her bag from her wardrobe, put it on her bed and started throwing her things into it, one after one. Clothes, school supplies, an old teddy bear that she did then ripped out of her bag and threw in the corner.

"I wouldn't be so sure about that." Steven picked it up where it laid. "Some kids find it easier to adjust to the changes that are being made if they've still got something to remind them of home."

"I don't need it." Sasha ripped the old teddy bear out of her social worker's hand and then ripped the head off, and one after one its arms and legs. "There." She threw her backpack off and put her drawing things- her most precious belongings in it before she glared at Steven and then to the big bag.

She tried to ignore the pieces of her beloved Cuddlefriend lying on the bed…

"Do you want me to carry that?"

"Just give me one second." Sasha nodded to Steven, without another noise he took the bag. "I'll be there in a second."

As soon as Steven was out the door Sasha opened a big pocket on the outside of her backpack, then picked up the pieces of Cuddlefriend and shoved them into the pocket.

"Where am I going to go now? I can't stay here on my own."

Dexter sat in the living room when Sasha walked by and her heart ached when she saw his swollen, red cheeks and teary eyes. She then dropped her backpack on the hallway floor and went into the room when she saw his shoelaces were untied.

"Next time I see you I want you to be able to do this yourself. Can you promise me that?"

"No."

Dexter seemed more realistic than his sister.

"Will I see you at school?"

Sasha didn't know about this, but when she looked up towards Steven and saw the answer in his eyes her tears were nearer than ever.

"Sorry kiddo. We need to move your sister a far bit away from here, at least to start with. But it's going to be a while until you see each other next time."

Dexter had started hyperventilating while looking from his sister to the one that was going to take her away, then back to his sister and back again.

"Who's going to take care of me now?" He whimpered. "Mum's never home. I can't get by on my own. Sasha. You have to be here. You have to stay here and take care of me." Sasha and Mikayla mumbled something to each other. And Sasha could only guess that it was about Dexter this time and not here.

She had wanted to say something, throw out Steven and the whole social services from their house. She had wanted to make sure Dexter knew this was all going to be okay, tell him that no matter what. She was always there for him.

There had to be something…

"When the baby's born, you need to learn how to feed him with a bottle and change his diapers okay?"

"Change his diapers?" Dexter grimaced- from kid's you only get the truth, right? "Do I have to?"

Steven cleared his throat behind Sasha. She looked back at him and glared, what was his time and schedule when she had to say goodbye to her brother and not knowing when she'd be able to see him again?

"You know that mum's not going to do it. Then ask her for money, or… steal some bills out of the jar on her bedside table. Buy formula and diapers and whatever you need for yourself. No fizzy drinks or chocolates or anything you don't need. And no stealing."

"You stole."

"And look where it got us."

Steven cleared his throat again. Sasha was struck by the thought that there was no point with making this last as long as possible. It had to happen anyway.

"Remember the bunny ears… and the bunny goes around the tree, into its burrow and then pull tight."

Sasha would have liked to hug her brother, but she decided against it, if she tried to say or do anything else she'd break down. Without another word she pulled her backpack higher on her shoulder and stomped outside and down the driveway without caring about her brother's cries behind her.

And right then, while she threw her bag into Steven's car and climbed up.

"Do you need any help?"

"NO. DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH ME."

If people were going to decide for her what to do. She was for sure going to be heard louder.

If they thought she was so bad… Maybe she could return home to Dexter and their mum if they thought she was too bad. If she promised she'd return to the….

She was for sure going to show people she wasn't as stupid or as helpless as people thought she were. People always thought that…

Because Sasha Bellman was still a little person.

But even the smallest people could make the biggest things to happen if they set their mind to it.

And that was just what Sasha Bellman did.

Steven looks like Martin Cummins.

Random fact

"At least two hours with a car away from here" Did you know that it's a very typical trait for North- Swedes to count distance in how long it takes to get there. Which is good because Swedish and English miles are different- Swedish one are 10 Kilometers. So then you don't need the confusion miles and miles will cause.
