Yu-Gi-Oh Arc V - Ending Redux

I, like many did not like the ending to Arc V. So I thought I'd do something about it, and upload my own version. This takes the events that happened in the last 8 episodes of Arc V after the duel with Zarc, and then changes and expands upon them. The duels will contain anime versions of cards as well as fan made ones too.

9. Chapter 9

Chapter 9 - Xyz dragons clash! Blade versus Overload

Yuya's eyes snapped wide open, as flashes of him falling into darkness cloud his mind. His body springs awake. He's lying on a large piece of rock that, surrounded by scorched ground, and decaying rubble. His heart races, his breath heavy with the weight of a thousand to them. His hand shakes in fear. Using his other, he tries to comfort it, holding it tight.

"Finally awake are you?" A stoic voice is heard from above him. Yuya looks up to see Kaito standing on some debris, holding a canister. "Kaito?!" Yuya tries to stand up, only to fall back onto the floor. "Here. Drink something." Kaito tosses the canister to Yuya. It sounds hollow, like there's barely anything inside, but he can still hear splashing on the contents inside. Picking it up, he unscrews the lid, and begins pouring the water into his mouth. "I heard from Edo that you left this place 3 hours ago." Yuya finishes the water, dropping the canister onto the floor. "3 hours? Was that how long it's been?"

Yuya spends a short while explaining to Kaito what happened. "So you were attacked by someone you long thought dead?" Kaito rubs his chin, thinking. "Yeah." Yuya looks at Kaito, surprised. "What are you doing out here anyway?" Kaito goes quiet for a brief second before answering. "I heard that more people captured by Academia have been appearing in a camp on the other side of the city. I think my family might be there. My little brother." Kaito looks up to the sky, a brief smile is made on his face, before returning to his stoic expression. "I was on my way there when I found you passed out on the ground. I found some water in case you were thirsty." Yuya remains silent through his explanation. "I'm sorry to distract you from seeing your family again." Yuya looks guilty as he sits there on the ground against the rubble.

"Without the bridge or the hop, there's no way for me to be able to travel to the Synchro dimension, or even home." Yuya looks to the ground with a defeated expression on his face. In his fury, he slams his fist against the rubble behind him. "It might not be all hopeless for you Yuya." Kaito exclaims, as he leaps down onto the floor. "What?" Yuya looks up at the duelist, confused. "Look there." Kaito points up into the sky. Yuya looks to where he points. "Is that?" Yuya stands back onto his feet, his eyes widen, as a small smile appears on his lips. He stares at a small, but possibly functional Dimension hole. "I could use that." Yuya looks to Kaito, then back at the hole.

"The only problem is, I need duel energy to make it stable enough to travel through. And even then, I need a way to..." Yuya's train of thought is cut off by the sound of Kaito activating his disk. "Want to pay me back for the water and save the dimensions? Let's finish what we started." Yuya gives a nod, activating his too. The two duelists stand apart, Yuya activates the Action field, but doesn't make the chant like he usually would. In his mind, he tries to call out for someone. "Yuto? Yugo? Yuri?" He doesn't receive an answer. He returns to reality, and draws his opening hand. "Action duel!"

Kaito LP 4000

"I'll start, I set the pendulum scale 3 Xiangke Magician and scale 8 Xiangsheng Magician. I pendulum summon Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, and Performapal Longphone Bull." Already, Yuya summons his first ace monster, as well as one of his deck performers. "When summoned, Longphone lets me add a Performapal with 1000 or less ATK to my hand. I add, then normal summon Performapal Skeeter Skimmer." Yuya summons a second performer to the field. Despite starting the duel with five cards, he's managed to play that many, and have room for one more card.

"I build the overlay network. I use level 4 longphone and skimmer to Xyz summon! Rank 4! Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon!" Using his two performers, Yuya calls upon his second ace monster, gifted to him by Yuto.

[Dark Rebellion Rank 4 Dark Dragon Xyz ATK 2500]

"I activate the effects of my scales. I use Xiangke to convert Rebellion's rank to a level, so he's treated as a level 4. Next, I use Xiangsheng to his level so it matches that of my Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon. Now I have two level 7 monsters. Using my two monsters, I build the overlay network! Xyz Summon! Rank 7! Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon!" Using his two ace monsters, Yuya has summoned the monster he created out of his rage when he first went berserk. The pitch black dragon soars from the network, and lands behind him, acting as his titan.

[Odd-Eyes Rebellion Rank 7 Dark Dragon Xyz Pendulum ATK 3000]

"I remember that dragon. You used it in our first duel. I wasn't aware that you could summon it this way." Kaito compliments Yuya on his skills. "Yeah, I wasn't able to bring him out this way in our duel, so I had to improvise with what I had." The two duelists have a moment of trust between them before continuing the duel. "I set one card facedown, and end my turn." The titan dragon snarls at Kaito, as if it can sense the presence of Kaito's ace dragon.

"My turn. Draw! I normal summon Cipher Wing in attack mode. Because I control a face up Cipher Wing, I can special summon another one straight from my hand." Kaito starts his turn off simple by summoning two monsters with the same level. "Kaito has summoned two level 4 monsters. If he was anyone else, he'd probably summon a rank 4. But, this is Kaito we're talking about." Yuya says to himself.

[Cipher Wing LVL 4 Light Machine ATK 1400]

"Next, I activate the continuous spell, Double Exposure. I target my two monsters with the same name, and because they are both lower than level 6, I can double their levels." With the help of Kaito's spell card, he's able to turn his level 4 monsters into level 8 ones.

[Cipher Wing LVL 4 - 8]

"My turn. I build the overlay network! Using my two level 8 Cipher Wings, I Xyz Summon!" The two small wings come together in the overlay network, and combine to summon something else. "Appear! Rank 8! Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon!" Kaito calls his ace monster, the large azure dragon with the eyes made up of galaxies.

"Galaxy-Eyes is my very soul. My heart. My spirit. It's a part of me in ways few can understand. Right Yuya?" Yuya nods his head at Kaito's claim. Looking at his deck, he feels the same way. His performapals, the magicians and paladins, even the dragons; he has a connection to them all. Above them, the Dimension Hole is starting to open wider, showing that it's becoming more stable and controllable, but it's not enough.

"I activate my Trap card! Performer Theft Protection. I can equip it to a monster I control. If control of it changes, then you get inflicted with damage equal to its ATK, then it skips your battle phase this turn." Yuya springs his trap. "Well done Yuya. You remembered that my dragon can steal your monsters and make them my own." Kaito looks at his dragon, seeing it snarl at Rebellion. "Luckily for me, I have one more trick up my sleeve." Kaito starts to radiate a pure blue aura around his body. Using only my dragon as material, I build the overlay network!" Yuya falls back to his dragon. "What did you just say?" Kaito's dragon glows the same aura before soaring into the network above it. Coming into the overlay network itself, it starts evolving. "Xyz summon! Rank 9! Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Blade Dragon!" The azure dragon returns, sporting a more upgraded look including blades and large wings. It lands behind Kaito, staring down Yuya's dragon.

[Cipher Blade Dragon Rank 9 Light Dragon Xyz ATK 3200]

"I don't need to take your dragon to defeat you. I can just destroy it. By detaching one material from my monster, I can destroy a card you have." By absorbing one of its materials into its blades, the Cipher Blade Dragon creates a beam of pure light from its two blades to attack Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon. The dragon is destroyed, but due to it being a pendulum monster, it's sent to the extra deck. "When the monster equipped is destroyed, Theft Protection is destroyed too, and then I get to draw a card." "Battle. I attack you directly." The large dragon comes charging at Yuya, dragging its blades in the ground as it gets closer. Yuya tries to run, looking for an action card to save him. He grabs the first one that he finds, but it can't save him. He takes two bladed attacks to the back, sending him flying back into the ground.

[Yuya LP 4000 - 800]

Yuya gets back up without focusing on the pain. "Action card, Damage Draw. When I take 2000 or more damage, I get to draw two cards." Yuya adds more to his hand, now having three. "Not bad Yuya. But I still have cards to play. I set one card face down, and activate the Continuous spell, Cipher Interference. And end my turn." Yuya draws from his deck, making four cards. "I activate my trap, Cipher Drone. I target my dragon, then Special summon this trap as a duplicate of the monster." The trap card turns into a monster, summoning a drone. The drone scans Kaito's dragon, and creates a hologram, disguising it.

[Drone - Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Blade Dragon.]

"Looks like you're in a tough spot Yuya." Yuya sees a spirit of Yuto standing beside him. "Yuto?" "Yeah, I've had worse, so you should do fine." Yuya looks to his other side to see Yugo. "Yugo?" "Yeah, sorry, I've been too busy with something to talk to you." Behind Yuya is a third spirit, but they remain quiet. "Listen, we just came to tell you, that even though a lot is getting in the way, and we don't know how to stop it. Just know we have your back." Yuya feels their hands on him, all three of them before they disappear. After shedding a single tear, Yuya's eyes turn from red to a bright yellow.

"Using my scale 3 and scale 8 magician's I pendulum summon once more. From my hand, I summon Performapal Drummerilla and from my extra deck, Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon!" Using his scale, Yuya summons back his titan dragon, as well as a third performer to take the stage. "What do you plan to do with them Yuya? Because of my spell, my dragon's power will double when you attack it." Yuya smiles, shaking his head. "Only if you still have it on the field."

[Drummerilla LVL 5 Earth Beast Pendulum ATK 1600]

"I activate Pendulum Storm. By destroying my scale, I can destroy a spell or trap you have. I will destroy Xiangsheng and Xiangke to destroy Cipher Interference." A storm appears on both scales, and destroys the two magicians. The storms combine into one, firing a bolt of lightning, destroying the spell card. "Now. To go even further beyond what I can do." Yuya's body starts glowing with a burning hot aura. "I use Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon as the only overlay material to Xyz Summon!" Kaito smiles, feeling in his soul what's coming. The dragon takes to the sky and into the overlay network. "Arise! Rank 7! Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon - Overload!" Bursting out of the network, the powered up dragon appears onto the battlefield. It's summoning alone charges the Dimension Hole above.

[Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon - Overload Rank 7 Dark Dragon Xyz Pendulum ATK 3000]

"Battle!" The titan dragon explodes with thunder and lightning like a destructive force. "I attack the real Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon!" The dragon charges for the stronger one. They take to the skies, clashing, the powers of lightning and light are shed from the two powered beasts. "Once per turn, with the effect of Drummerilla, I can have my dragon gain 600 ATK, making it stronger than yours." The performer bangs it's drums, and fires a blast from its chest on the dragon, raising its power.

[Overload ATK 3000 - 3600]

Now stronger, the Overload dragon cuts down the Bladed one, making it explode in the sky. This attack alone was enough to fully open the hole. The two duellists fail to notice this, even as the hole causes a small storm around them both. "When the target is destroyed, my trap card resets itself in my spell and trap zone." The hologram dragon leaves the field, seemingly leaving Kaito wide open. "When Blade is destroyed, I can special summon Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon back from the grave." Kaito revives his ace monster to the board.

[Kaito LP 4000 - 3600]

"Because Overload was summoned using a rank 7 monster as material, it can make a second attack." Overload tackles Cipher Dragon into the ground. It tries to fight back, blasting its light fire onto the overload dragon to no avail, before being destroyed in a roar of thunder.

[Kaito LP 3600 - 3000]

"I'm not done. My dragon can make a third attack during my battle phase." Overload rises out of the rubble, and prepares to fire. Kaito sees an action card by his foot, but decides to leave it there. He gets blasted head on by the titan dragon's burning thunder.

Once the duel concludes, that's when they notice the hole is open. With the duel finished, it slowly starts to close up before Overload grabs the hole, and starts stretching it open for Yuya. Climbing up its tail, Yuya climbs onto its back. Yuya looks back at Kaito as he gets up from his loss. "Hey Kaito. Go see your family. I'm sure they miss you." Kaito gets up and starts running towards the camp. "Wait!" Yuya calls out for Kaito to stop. He looks back at his new comrade. "What's your brother's name?" Kaito looks up with a smile. "It's Haruto." Yuya hits his chest before giving Kaito the thumbs up. Overload flies into the hole with Yuya as it closes behind him for good. It doesn't take long for them to see a light in front of them.
