Chapter Twenty-Three

A Mission and A Rose

Happy Three Years!

A/N: We are officially on Season Two! It only took three years? Don't worry, season two won't take as long, I already have most of it written anyways.

EMALINA

Upon entering the room for our debriefing, we were met with a soldier from the Military Police, his stone cold stare fixated on me, Jean and Armin as we claimed our seats at the opposite side of the table. Silence fell when the door shut as the soldier glanced through several papers, his eyes wandering back and forth between what was in his hands, and towards us. This debriefing didn't scare me. I knew going into this mission what would be placed over our heads, even if we were to fail. However, I knew not all approved of the Scouting Regiment, especially after today.

"Armin Arlert," the soldier suddenly spoke.

"Yes sir," Armin replied, hands folded neatly in his lap.

"Jean Kirschtein."

"Sir," Jean whispered, arms crossed against his chest.

"And…Emalina Varlen."

"Sir," I copied the males, laying my arms against the table. All the adrenaline from the afternoon was finally crashing, tiredness creeping into my eyelids as they were growing heavy by the second.

"So it would seem…we have much to discuss, do we not?" Neither of us spoke, as the answer seemed obvious. He continue to stare, expecting one of us to give some form of reply, and when we did not, he mumbled under his breath. Clearing his throat, he set three separate pieces of paper down onto the table, each line up where we sat. "Well then…let's begin with a simple question: how much of the mission's details were you made aware of?"

All three of us stared at each other. Peering incredulously back, I asked, "How much were we made aware of? Do you mean to ask if we were aware what the overall goal was or were we kept int he dark?"

"I'm the one asking questions here!" the soldier snapped.

"Of course," I replied, my lips turning into a thin line. "But unless I clarify your questions, how am I to provide an adequate and informational answer?" Mumbling, I knew the soldier was stumped to find another answer, so I cleared my throat, knowing exactly how to answer. "My answer will be the same for my two comrades. All three of us knew exactly the purpose of the mission. We knew who our target was, and we knew all of plans concocted to try and capture Annie Leonhart."

"So you three sat back and allowed Commander Erwin to trick you into thinking this plan was foolproof? Were you not aware of the potential property damage and loss of life that could happen, least of all what did happen?"

"We were very aware of that high probability, sir," Armin interjected.

"Then why continue with the plan? Surely you knew the negatives outweighed any positives for such a mission. I would think Commander Erwin would - "

"Hold up," Jean finally released his voice, leaning forward in his seat. "Are you trying to tie all this back to the Commander as if he brainwashed us just to follow along with this plan?"

"He is the Commander of the Scouting Regiment. I wouldn't put it past the man to manipulate his subordinates in order to fulfill any plans he's established."

"He didn't manipulate any of us," I cried out softly. "We were well aware of the consequences regarding such a mission. Our decision to participate was our own. The willingness we had, and still have, comes from our belief that our Commander is in the right. Besides," I chuckled. "Armin, Jean and myself were part of the small group who designed such a plan in the first place; Commander Erwin's the one who enacted it."

"So you have no regrets regarding those who have died today?"

"We are apologetic for those who have passed this afternoon, make no mistake about that," Armin stated, speaking for all three of us. "However, as part of the Scouting Regiment, we look beyond regrets."

With a blank stare, the soldier asked, "Beyond regrets?"

"Meaning," Jean finished Armin's statement. "We look beyond the bigger picture when determining our actions. If we hadn't acted today to take down the Female Titan, the outcome could've been far worse. More so that you could probably imagine."

He scoffed, glancing down towards the papers before him. "What could've been worse?"

I snickered into my arm. "For starters, we could've let her roam free in disguise, for her to attack Stohess District whenever she damn well pleased. What would you have done then? Would the Military Police have done the same job as the Scouts?"

"A-Are you insinuating that the Military Police are inferior and cannot do their job properly?!"

"That's not what I said at all, but now that you mention it, there were no MP's fighting the titan, unlike the Scouts." I smirked, knowing full well this could blow up in my face. What could they do? Place me under arrest? I'd like to see them try.

"You ungrateful little - !" He reached across the table to try and grab my hand.

Jean's arm reached out first, grasping the man's wrist before I could be touched. "Do not lay a finger on her. I thought this was a debriefing session?"

Retracting, the soldier cleared his throat, gathering the papers before him and piling them into a neat pile. "Ahem. Y-Yes well…Let's move on."

"Good," Jean seethed, leaning backwards in his chair. His hand reached out for mine where we displayed our joined limbs upon the table.

"Well…I want you each to describe your role in today's mission. Let's start with you, Armin."

"Along with Mikasa Ackerman and Eren Jaeger, we were to lure Annie Leonhart away from the rest of the Military Police, in hopes we could get her underground where she wouldn't transform into her Titan. Unfortunately, she saw right through our plan and transformed before we even had a chance. After that, I worked with the rest of my comrades, chasing her towards Squad's One and Two led by Squad Leader Hange Zoe to try and capture her. That failed as well, but by the time, Eren had transformed as well and the two began fighting. Once they were near the wall, we were able to cut her down when she lodged herself into the crystal."

"Alright, and what of you, Jean?"

"I was disguised as Eren the entire time while in the carriage, only leaving once Annie had transformed. After that, just as Armin stated, I worked on capturing her then leading her towards the wall. Once Eren transformed and the two began fighting, I remained with Emalina and Armin on the sidelines watching it all happen."

"And you didn't even try to intervene?"

Was this soldier…that incompetent regarding the titans?

"That was not the plan. Once Eren entered the fight we were to leave it to him."

"And…you simply trusted the man who…could only transform into a titan for only about one months time?"

"Yes," the three of us stated at once.

Seemingly unhappy with such a response, the soldier made quick notes upon the paper, his stare then traveling to me. "And now Emalina. With those injuries I've heard you're sustaining, I wonder what your role must've been? Did you even fight?"

Sensing Jean tense next to me, I patted his arm, knowing he needed to calm down before he acted or said anything he might regret. "You are correct in that I have sustain injuries that has forced me to remain on the sidelines. However, I acted as Squad Leader for Squads Three and Four. I directed them when we followed Armin as he, Mikasa and Eren led Annie down towards the specified tunnel. I was the one to determine when to intervene, as I was also the one to relay messages between the outcome with Annie towards the Commander and Squad Leader Hange."

"So you didn't fight."

"No I did not," I answered as best I could without snarling. "What's the purpose of this whether I fought or not? My role was just as important as everyone else's."

He ignored my statement, eyes diverting between each of us, as if discerning whether he believed we were telling the truth. "Alright then, let's see…" I shared a look with Jean and Armin, who gave the same stare back. "Let's talk about Commander Erwin. With everything that happened during your last reconnaissance mission and the one this afternoon, do you believe Erwin Smith continues to have the potential to lead the Scouting Regiment as its Commander?"

Jean was the first to snap. "…what kind of fucking question is that?!"

Then Armin. "This is ridiculous."

Then me. "You're not seriously asking us such a question, are you? You're supposed to be debriefing us on what happened today!"

"Again, I'm the one making the questions! So you just sit there and answer the damn question!"

"No!" Slamming my hands upon the table, I slowly stood, legs wobbling from me about to confront a veteran soldier of a different regiment. He had it coming. Who the hell asks such a thing?! "You do not get to ask such a question! I don't know what the hell you were asked to do, but this is not a debriefing! You already asked about our roles, that should be enough!" Pushing away from the table, I noticed Jean and Armin stand as well. I was genuinely surprised they were willingly following me.

"You need to sit your ass back down!" Throwing his own chair backwards, the soldier stood to his feet, finger pointed directly at me. "These were my orders, therefore you will sit and answer anything I give you!"

"No!" I repeated, infuriated this is what it had come to. "I will not stab the back of my Commander just because you asked it of me! Commander Erwin Smith is a great man, and I will follow him until my last breath. His vision is one where humanity lives as one without the presence of the fucking titans. I will risk my life to see that happen because it's something I agree with!" Having my voice echoed throughout the room, I was huffing by the end of my rant. My fists were curled tightly into my side, leg and neck throbbing with anger. "If you have any problem with that, then you can take your concerns to our Commander or my brother, Levi. He might have some interesting words for you!"

And with that, I left the fucking room.

Jean and Armin were right by my side as the door closed behind us. When we were far enough away, someone grabbed my arm, halting me in my spot as I frowned, seeing it was Armin. "Emalina, I…what the hell did you do back there?"

"I'm sorry, but I couldn't take it anymore! Something seemed fishy from the beginning, and…and he had no right to ask us such questions!" Mumbling under my breath, I leaned against the wall, eyes searching for Jean's, needing to know what I had done wasn't stupid.

"It was kinda stupid," he said, as if reading my mind. Sighing, I knew it had to be true. "I must say though, I'm glad you said something, because I was about to and it wouldn't have been as nice as yours."

Armin patted my arm, smiling more widely than I was expecting. "I actually agree. He was completely out of line and very disrespectful towards us and Commander Erwin."

Sighing once more, I pulled my blonde friend into a tight hug. "Thank you Armin," I mumbled.

He only chuckled. "How about we go grab some dinner? It's been…an extremely long day for all of us."

"I could go for some food. That and a nap," Jean yawned towards the end of his statement.

Wrapping an arm over my shoulder, it was settled. The three of us traversed towards the Mess Hall, still ignoring the stares from any Military Police we passed. Some whispered amongst themselves, others openly spoke about the three of us. I didn't listen as we made our way towards the Mess Hall, food calling our name. Just as we had opened the doors, someone from behind called out my name.

"Emalina!"

Turning, I noticed it was Hange as she quickly made her way closer to my position. "Are you already done with your debriefing?"

"Mmm, something like that," I chuckled, not wanting to dive deep into what we just witnessed.

"Well, whatever happened, I'm glad I ran into you. Erwin wanted to speak with you as soon as possible."

"Aw, b-but…" I glanced into the Mess Hall, then back towards Hange's awaiting face. "Can't it wait until after we eat?"

"Sorry kiddo," She said, ruffling my hair. "Erwin says it's important."

Huffing yet another sigh, I dropped my head. "Alright, where is he?"

"I'll take you, he wants to speak with myself and Levi as well."

Asking for a minute, I turned to Jean and Armin. "Rain check?" I tried laughing, but the growling in my stomach prevented the gesture.

Hearing the rumble of my own hunger, Jean kissed my cheek. "I'll grab you a plate and meet you in the room afterwards."

"Oh would you? Please?"

"Of course. We'll see you in a bit."

Nodding, Hange and I turned around, heading in the opposite direction as we took the stairs up towards the third floor. We were quiet as we climbed the stairs, though I feel the stare of my friend pierce through me. She was probably thinking about what she and Angela discussed not even an hour ago.

"What're you thinking, Emalina?"

"Probably something you don't want to discuss, right?"

"Are you talking about earlier in regards to Angela?" I nodded, peering upward at the woman I loved dearly. "So…you could hear us through the door."

"Yes ma'am," I said quietly. "You two weren't exactly quiet when she left the room." Hange slammed a hand to her forehead.

"Fucking damnit," she muttered. Stopping between the second and third floor, she grasped my shoulders, forcing me to glance up at her. "Look, she and I…this was something between the two of us, I want you to know that. We'd been noticing the way you and Jean are…and how close you've gotten this last month. With everything we've uncovered, what with Eren's titan abilities, Annie being a titan in disguise…we're in dire need of someone like you in the Scouts, Emalina."

"But why me specifically? You have Levi and Mikasa, and all the new recruits who're just as good as me."

"You're right." She pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose. "We were fortunate enough to gain some experienced recruits this year. But none are like you, Emalina. You were born to be a Scout, a natural leader, which is something we could use in times such as these. But…if you and Jean were to find out you're pregnant…" Even Hange seemed to understand the preposterousness of her argument. "Then…we'd lose an amazing soldier."

Sighing heavily, as the last hour seemed to be the only consistent thing I could manage, I swatted the woman's arm. I deserved the right, didn't I? I loved Hange to death, but she and Angela, as much as I respected them, had no right to invade our privacy such as that.

"Hange, look…I appreciate the way you and Angela are looking out for me, I really do. But along the way, that's a decision Jean and I will make on our own. If you must know, we've had this conversation recently, and though we decided we ultimately want a family together - " I raised my finger just as she was about to protest my statement. " - we've come to the conclusion that it's best if we wait on that matter. So, I ask you: leave this topic alone. Please?"

I was silently begging. Thankfully, it seemed Hange understood as she encircled me into a hug. "I'm very sorry, Emalina." Her voice seemed sincere, and Hange wasn't one to lie unless needed; I knew she was telling the truth. "Even before this conversation, I knew it was selfish for Angela and I to dig into your private life."

"It's perfectly alright," I said. "Don't get me wrong, I completely understand your reasoning, just…don't do it again, alright?"

"I promise. And I'll have a talk with Angela. The poor thing, she was so embarrassed after earlier." Resuming our walk, we made our way up the stairs as we then turned to walk down the hallway.

"I could tell. Poor Jean…he couldn't look at Angela the entire time."

"Oh I bet," hange snickered, covering her mouth as her chuckle grew contagious.

"So…" There was something else I wanted to ask. "You think a little baby Kirschtein would be adorable, huh?"

The woman's cheeks burned red as she chuckled once more. "Quite adorable. Your babies will be smart and beautiful!" It was then I finally dropped the subject, seeing as we were not entering the door to Erwin's room.

Also, I mainly just wanted to hear her admit that any children Jean and I were to have would be adorable.

Entering the door, I noticed Levi and Erwin discussing something quietly over the small table in the middle of the room. Acknowledging my entrance, Erwin nodded as my brother stepped forward. "How's the injury?"

"Peachy," I said, fighting my fingers to not scratch at the gauze on my neck. "It's nothing to worry about, Angela says it is looking better day by day. And you?"

"Same," he rotated his ankle for emphasis. Rubbing my head, Levi smirked. "Glad to see you're alright, shorty." This caused me to smile but I still wondered what I was needed for.

"Emalina." Stepping towards my Commander, he patted my arm. "You did very well today."

"O-Oh! Thank you sir."

"And you didn't participate in any if the fighting, correct?" He raised a caterpillar eyebrow at me.

"No sir," I chuckled. "I tried once but Jean wouldn't let me."

Erwin's eyes seemed amused. "Of course, I'm very thankful for the way he treats you."

My smile was wide as I dipped my head downward, trying to avoid the stares upon my cheeks. "Me too, sir, me too."

Stepping back to the table, Erwin motioned for me to join. Moving beside him, Levi and Hange joined as well, all four of us were facing one another from around the table. "It would seem we have a bit of a situation on our hands, Emalina."

Eyebrow quirked, I said, "Sir?"

"Do you remember a few weeks ago when we spoke with you and Jean, and you made the comment regarding the walls?"

"You mean…how I thought it was weird to think how quickly they were built?"

"Yes. Now, I believe you had left not long after Annie had engrossed herself in crystal, but something happened when she was wrapped and taken away. Hange," Erwin held his hand out for her to finish the conversation.

"Emalina," the Section Commander called. "I'd like to show you something we discovered." Following my friend around the corner, she drew my body to the window, pointing towards the wall. Since the Military Police headquarters was closer to the outer wall, I couldn't miss it…except…

Maneuvering my eyesight to where Hange was pointing, my mouth dropped, falling open in utter confusion. From what I could see, numerous soldiers were hoisting what seemed to be a thick cloak over a missing section of the wall. "What in the hell is going on? What're they doing that for?"

"Remember when Annie tried to climb the wall, and Mikasa cut her down?" I nodded, stealing a glance towards the two males, seeing as how they gave me a curt nod in return. "After she turned to crystal, a large section of the wall crumbled and fell, creating that." Walking back to the table, Hange slammed her hands on the wood. "To put it bluntly…there was a titan within the wall."

Head snapping in their direction, I hissed, grabbing at my throat as I could feel the incision stretch uncomfortably. "What…what the hell?! You can't be serious!"

"I saw it as well, shorty. There's a colossal titan within the wall. Most likely, there's more inside; I doubt it's the only one," Levi commented.

Eyes closed in disbelief, I released a heft sigh. "So…does that mean there's some validity to what I've said?"

"It would seem so," Erwin states gravely. "However, that is not the reason I have called to speak with you."

"It's not?" I asked incredulously. "Then why give me knowledge about the wall?"

"Because you deserve to be informed. You can speak with Jean about this, but I needed you to be aware for the task I will be assigning you." I returned to the table just as Erwin unrolled a large map of the three walls. "As you know, we sent some of the Veteran Scouts and the remaining new recruits to this location." He dropped his fingers towards a location closer to the southern region to Wall Rose, and he kept it there. "This is where they are. It's an older military fort, but it's secure to keep everyone safe. Considering today's events, especially with the newly discovered titan, I want you to head to their location and inform Miche of our current situation, and that it might be a few days longer before we're able to head back to Headquarters."

"Wh-Why me?"

"You are the fastest rider we have, shorty. This news needs to be delivered to Miche and the other Veterans as quickly as possible."

Heaving a sigh, I caved, knowing they were correct and the others deserved to know what was happening while the regiment was separated. "Alright, I'll do it, though knowing my brother," I shot him an inquisitive look. "I have no choice in the matter."

"Of course not," all three replied at once.

I rubbed the back on my neck. "Well…I should've seen that one coming. Ok, so let me guess, you're wanting me to leave right now?"

"No, we're giving you the evening off. It's been a stressful day for everyone, and I want you to get some sleep before you trek to the south." Erwin placed a hefty hand on my shoulder. "I cannot thank you enough for accepting this task, Emalina. You have done much for the Scouts these last few days."

"I-I…thank you sir, your words are appreciated." Staring at the map to memorize my friends location, I peered upward through my eyelashes. "What exactly are you wanting me to tell Miche? What am I to say to my friends? They're going to ask about the success of this mission and…I'm not sure if they should know."

"You are correct, I don't think they need to know either." Grasping the bridge of his nose, Erwin seemed to be thinking as I turned to my brother and Hange.

"They were sent there for their protection right? But was it not also to keep them out of the loop?"

"Yes. They know we're going after someone in the Military Police who might be disguised as a titan, but we didn't specify who."

"Ah, that's what I thought. Very clever."

"If they ask," Erwin joined in on the conversation. "You are to tell them we captured the individual and are interrogating them. Do not mention Annie's name nor that she has turned to crystal. If one of the Scouts there is another shifter, that could be bad for us in the future. You must be discreet."

"Discreet. So…I'm to lie to my friends. Perfect, that's definitely something I can do."

My brother's hand fell upon my shoulder, pulling me closer into his frame. "We're asking a lot out of you shorty, however, you're the best person for the job."

"You can count on me. If, I may ask though…" My attention mainly focused on Erwin. "Would it be acceptable to leave base and head into town? I just…wanna get away from here for a bit."

He smiled fondly. "I see no problem with that. But please take Jean with you. Who knows how the crowds will react when they see a member of the Scouts on the streets."

"Thank you very much." I waved, signaling my departure, then I stopped just as I was to open the door. "Will I see you in the morning before I leave, Levi?"

"Don't worry, I'll see you off, Emalina." I smiled wildly in his direction, then softly closed the door behind me.

Knowing Jean and Armin were most likely done with their dinner, I headed towards the room we were given up on the fourth floor. Trekking up the stairs, I meandered my way through the corridors until I reached our assigned room. Stepping inside, sure enough, there was Jean in all his handsome glory, sitting upon the desk with a plate full of food. Noticing my entrance, he smiled my way, hoping down to engulf me in a ginormous hug.

"Man that was a long meeting. What'd Erwin need you for anyways?"

Grabbing the plate, I first sat on the bed, taking small bites as my hunger had grown exponentially during the meeting. Swallowing the lump of bread, I drank some water to wash it all down before even answering. "Which do you want first: the bad news or the bad news?"

"Which…one isn't so bad?" Quirking an eyebrow, he joined me upon the bed, watching as I practically inhaled my entire plate.

Frozen for a moment, I had to consider the options. Truly, which one wouldn't be so bad in Jean's eyes? Deciding to go for the latter, I mumbled through a mouthful, "There's a titan inside the wall."

Silence, which then laughter filled the void.

Extreme, gut-wrenching laughter.

Staring at Jean, who was beside himself, I merely scooped some of my potatoes on my mouth watching tears fall from his eyes. I didn't know what was so funny. Then again, I was in disbelief earlier too.

Clearing his eyes of all tears, Jean's face was now flushed. "You-You got me good there Ema! I-I thought you were serious for a second there, b-but seriously. What's the worst news?" I dropped my spoon, staring blankly at him until he blinked. It was when his mouth fell open was when I resumed eating again. "No…you can't be serious!"

"That's exactly what I said." I spent the next few minutes filling him in on what I was informed of. Jean seemed skeptical at first, then as my story progressed, his face fell by the second.

"Ok, now just…hold up. You're saying that because Annie climbed the wall, a large chunk feel and revealed a colossal titan inside it?"

"That's exactly what I'm saying. Apparently Pastor Nick ran up to Hange and demanded they cover the titan, as it shouldn't see the light? I wasn't understanding that part, all I focused on was the fact there's a fucking titan inside the wall. Erwin thinks my theory about the walls has to do with that titan."

"That's…" Jean rubbed his entire face, eyes frozen in confusion. "Let's just…forget about that part for a moment. What's the other bad news then?"

Finishing the last bite, I mumbled, "Erwin's given me a new task, effective tomorrow morning."

"Already? We just got done dealing with today, and now he's having you do something else?" I nodded, feeling the exact same way on the inside. "Then, what're you supposed to do?"

"You know how the rest of the Veterans and the new recruits are stationed elsewhere until this blew over? Erwin wants me to head there tomorrow morning and deliver a message to Miche, informing him of the titan in the wall and that, with everything that's happened today, it might be a few days before we're all able to head back to Headquarters." Soaking in this new information, Jean fell quiet. Removing the plate from my hands, he placed it upon the desk, dragging me into his arms. "Jean?"

"Shh," he said, running fingers through my loose hair. The sentiment was soothing and relaxing. However, I knew this man.

Sadly removing myself from his embrace, I cupped the man's cheeks. "I shouldn't be gone more than a day. I'll most likely stay with them depending on the time I get there, so I should be back the following morning. All I'm doing is delivering a message."

"Are you sure that's all you'll be doing?" he pressed, eyebrows furrowed together.

"I promise, that's all I've been assigned. Nothing bad is going to happen! I'll be back before you know it."

"And yet…your leg isn't fully healed yet."

"I know. Still, this is something I've been tasked to do, so I must do it. Are you…mad at me?" Glancing through my eyelashes, I registered the conflict spreading across Jean's face.

"M-Mad? Why would I be mad at you?!" Dropping several kisses to my forehead, Jean whisked some hair behind my ear. "Of course I'm not mad. I mean, I'm not particularly happy they asked you to go, but I can see why." Kissing my temple, Jean still held me close. "You leave in the morning, you said?"

"Yeah, Erwin wanted to at least rest after what we did today."

"At least I get a little more time with you before you leave. What…did you want to do?" he asked timidly.

"Actually…"I stood from the bed, dragging the man with me. "I wanted to head into town, get out of the base for a bit."

"You…are you sure that's a good idea? Won't the people be talking about us because of the destruction we caused?"

"That's why you're coming with me. Erwin's orders, actually."

"Oh really." Holding me close within his arms, he dropped his lips to my ear. "And here I thought you wanted some alone time with me tonight."

Giggling with a bright smile, I stood on my the tips of my toes until my lips were near his ear. "If you protect me in town, then maybe we'll be able to do something about that."

~ oOo ~

As the sun was dwindling lower into the sky, we wrapped ourselves in our Scouting cloaks, not caring if we were to receive stares once on the street. As we were leaving, we found Levi headed into the Mess Hall and informed him of our departure and that we wouldn't be gone to long. Levi, being the overprotective brother he can be, scolded us to be extra careful, considering the circumstances. We obliged, knowing full well the public, if they were even out, wouldn't be the nicest to us anyways.

And so, we finally left the base.

Hand-in-hand, we meandered through town, slowly making our way towards the main street where vendors seemed to still be open. There wasn't anything in particular I needed, I just wanted to escape the base and walk around with Jean. We've had moments to be alone these last few days, but still within Headquarters where there were people within the castle-like structure we knew. This way, it gave us some peace knowing it was just us in a sea of strangers.

And these stranger weren't ones to hide their feelings.

The moment we entered a highly congested area of Stohess citizens, we were met with deadly glares. Whispers flew into our ears, cursing the Scouting Regiment for the pain we brought and what we supposedly destroyed. If only these ignorant people knew that, in the long run, we saved their lives. At the cost of numerous people, we were all very aware of. But, as Levi and I knew from the beginning, sometimes you have to sacrifice the few to save the many.

Trekking from stall to stall, we looked at trinkets, different selections of foods, and other various wares that seemed to catch my eye. At one point, we stumbled upon a store that seemed to carry an even wider variety of what we'd already seen and I was excited to steal a glance inside. "Jean?" I called his name.

Glancing upward from whatever he had his eye set on, his eyes glowed as he responded, "Yes Ema?"

Pointing towards the store, I said, "Can I go look in there real quick?"

Snickering, Jean nodded. "No need to ask for permission. Besides, I want to look more at this stall. I'll meet you in there when I'm finished?"

"Deal. I'll meet you inside." We seal the agreement with a swift kiss. Making my way inside, there were more stares, more comments.

"What do you think you're doing here?" The shopkeeper called out to me, causing the other shoppers to stop in their tracks and stare at me in my Scouting cloak. "I don't want any trouble now, you hear me?"

"No sir," I stated gravely.

The other customers continued what they were doing as I swept through the store, their stares burning a hole straight into my back. Ignoring them, I glanced through the stores products, impressed with the selection of wondered if I should splurge to buy whatever I wanted.

"Oh my goodness, what is she doing here?"

"Can you believe the audacity to even show her face?"

Turning my head slightly to view the woman from my peripherals, they weren't doing a very good job in keeping their voices quiet.

"What a waste of taxpayer money. Then they come here and ruin our beautiful city? I knew they were savages!"

Gripping the jar tightly in my hand, I quickly set it down in fear I would break the damn thing. Feeling I should leave, I decided to brave it out. I was interested in the trinkets and other products. My eyes caught a case full of beautifully intricate hair pieces, their sparkling gems glowing in the dim candlelight. From behind, I could hear the door chime ding, another customer entering the store.

"Ah, Mr. and Mrs. Kirschtein! Wonderful to see you. Are you here for your packages?"

Wait…Kirschtein?!

Tensing, my peripherals swept to the front counter, I noted a tall male with a woman in a beautifully made dress. Their backs were to me so I couldn't see their faces. But then the man suddenly turned, and I knew exactly what my gut was screaming.

It was Jean's father!

The same amber-colored eyes, the same long, lean face and the exact same copper-blonde hair color. There was no doubt about it. If he wasn't Jean's father then damn! Because they looked like exact copies. Gently dropping what was in my hands, I froze. Should I say something? Should I go find Jean and leave? Should I even mention something to him at all?

"Hey, hey you! In the cloak!"

Tensing sharply, I turned. 'Mr. Kirschtein' had stepped towards me, arms crossed, the same, knowing smirk I grew to love was hated in my eyes as I stared at this man.

"Do you even have the right to be here after what you put our city through today?"

Biting my lips from retorting, I merely shook my head. I desperately wished Jean was by my side, though I wasn't sure if I even wanted him to see this man. "I'm sorry for everything that has occurred sir, but it was simply my diligence to act and keep the citizens safe from the titans."

"Safe from the titans?! Look at what your diligence did to this city!"

"Victor," the woman called 'Mrs. Kirschtein' gripped her husbands arm. "Let's leave the scraps, we have reservations for dinner."

Staring at me for a moment longer, he patted his wife's hand, smiling down at her. "Of course my darling, I apologize." Glaring at me once more, the two collected their belongings from the counter than stepped towards the door. Except, I halted them right in their spots.

"Mr. Kirschtein?"

He slowly his pace, but continued on walking. "What right do you have to call my name?"

My fists curled tighter as I rolled my eyes. "By chance, you wouldn't happen to have a son named Jean, would you?"

The man froze, slowly rotating as his eyes pierced mine. "…excuse me?"

"You heard me." Narrowed vision and curled lips, I knew I had trapped this man. "A son named Jean Kirschtein, whose mother is Jacquline Kirschtein, from Trost District?"

Facing me, I noticed his lips began to snarl, eyes widened as if I revealed a truth mean to be kept a secret. "How dare you speak to me of something you know nothing of!"

"Nothing of? If I know nothing than how is it I'm able to speak the names of those you left behind all those years ago?"

Ignoring those who were now whispering about the situation rather than me, Mr. Kirschtein stepped closer as I remained in my firm position. "How…How is it you know of their names?"

"Because I know your son," my voice was quick to reply. Gripping my chest, I couldn't believe I was in a confrontation with the man who had hurt Jean all those years ago. Standing here was the man who had made the love of my life so angry for so long! "I know everything there is to know about him, and I know what you did."

Standing straighter, the man smirked. "Oh really now? And by chance, how do you know him?"

"We're both in the Scouting Regiment. Proud soldiers who fight for humanity to survive against the titans." The man had the audacity to guffaw at me straight into my face, his wife joining in as well. I had to wonder if she knew he had a wife and son, or if she was in on everything from the beginning.

"Seriously? My son has not only joined the military but he decided to join the Scouts? Goodness, I can only imagine what kind of man he has grown into!"

"A wonderful man!" I cried, inching forward as the wife stepped back. "He would give his life to save those around him and if you had stuck around, you'd be fucking proud of him as I am!"

He scoffed. "Proud? Please! I wanted nothing to do with him to begin with!" Taken back, I nearly fell, completely caught off guard by the statement. Who wouldn't want to be near their own child, their own flesh and blood? By my silence, the man leaned over, his height suddenly overwhelming compared to my short stature.

"How…How could you say something like that bout your own son…?"

"Easy!" Others were now blatantly staring at us. I wasn't bothered by it, and this man didn't seem to care about the ruckus he was causing. "Tch, I never should've married his mother in the first place. All she did was dote on Jean and became fat. Who deserves a wife like that? I didn't, so I hightailed it outa there with my beautiful wife." Staring fondly to the woman by his side, the man was gleaming. To me, I saw a sickened man who didn't deserve the love Jean nor his mother had once given him. "And Jean, where do I begin! The good-for-nothing son of mine was nothing but pathetic. All he did was get into fights with the other kids, talked back to me non-stop! What kind of kids is that pathetic…?!"

"YOU FUCKING BASTARD!"

Slamming my fist straight into his face, my knuckles connected with his nose, sending the man flying backwards to fall on his rear end. Whatever conversation did exist ended in that moment, their stares connecting with mine as I peered down. Mrs. Kirschtein fell to her knees, trying to help her husband up as blood rained down his chin.

Holding his nose, he glared, wincing from the pain. ""H-How dare you hit me?!"

"No!" I screamed. "You do not have the right to speak ill-will about my boyfriend like that!"

I could see the clockwork turn in Mr. Kirschtein's head as he stumbled in standing to his feet. "Your b-boyfriend?! Are you telling me you're…in a relationship with my son?"

"You do not have the right to call him your son anymore! You lost that right the moment you walked out on him and his mother!" Holding back furious tears, I swallowed any bile threatening to come up. "You said your son was pathetic, but the only person I see in this room who's pathetic is you!"

"How dare you, you fucking bitch - !"

"Emalina?"

Gasping, I rotated my head towards the door to see Jean standing there. Even though I didn't expect him to be there, there was a hint of a smirk playing against his lips. Walking towards me, Jean held out his hand, to which I gladly accepted, wincing at the slight pain in my knuckles. "I was wondering what was taking you so long," he said.

"Jean! I-I can explain!" Moving my attention between Jean, his dad and then back, I honestly couldn't explain. I didn't want him to know his dad was here.

"So, you punched my dad, right?"

"Ah?!" Burning in the face, my head fell. Feeling I'd been caught with a dirty secret, I fell into his arm. "I'm sorry," my words were quiet. "I didn't want you to see this."

He let go of my hand to wrap it around my waist, fighting his hold against my hip. "I appreciate that, but I watched the entire ordeal." He dropped a kiss to my cheek. "I'm…actually impressed you could tell it was him." Staring at the man, Jean's smirk fell. "Interesting to see you here, dad." His words were full of spite and poison.

"J-Jean…? Holy shit, it's really you!"

"Of course it's me, who the fuck did you think I was?"

"Don't talk to your father like that…!"

"Excuse you?!" It was Jean's turn to yell, though he never let his grip on me lighten. "I'm sorry, I had the perception I was your 'pathetic son' you wanted nothing to do with. You haven't been in my life in over ten years, so fuck you!" Kicking the man in his shins, Mr. Kirschtein fell to the floor once again. Blood still oozed from his nose as he held tightly onto his leg.

"Alright that's it you two, get the fuck out of my store!" The shopkeeper maneuvered from around the counter, pointing his finger between me and Jean.

Knowing full well we caused enough of a mess, we nodded, honestly not wanting to create anymore trouble. I moved towards the door, yet Jean hadn't. Peering downward towards his father, Jean nearly spit on the man. "If I ever hear you speak to Emalina in such a way again, I won't hesitate to use what I've learned in training on you." Eyes lifting to Mr. Kirschtein's new wife, Jean smirked. "Besides, you've got your own bitch right here."

"Ah?! H-How dare you!"

Dragging me from behind, Jean was quick to maneuver our bodies through the growing crowd. The stares and whispers intensified, but the crowd wasn't sure where to look, at Jean and I or his father. Regardless, hand-in-hand once again, Jean guided me back to the base. Quickly trekking through the city, we were back to Headquarters faster than when we left. Ignoring those around us, we, thankfully, didn't see Levi as we sped towards our shared room. Once inside, the door all but slammed in place as I was thrown against its frame.

Thinking he was mad for what I had done, I panicked. "Jean! I-I'm so sorry, I didn't think - !"

Arms boxing me in against the wall, my copper-blonde male did nothing except smile down at me. "There is absolutely no need to apologize, kitten." Kissing the shell of my ear, he added in a deeper tone, "You did exactly what I've been wanting to do for ten years."

"I…" Shocked and confused, I knew my cheeks were turning red. "That's great…?" I honestly wasn't sure what to say. I was still appalled I had done such a thing in the first place, and was still reeling Jean had seen all my actions.

Well, it was good I didn't want to think anymore as Jean leaned forward, connecting our lips together in a sultry kiss which left me reeling.

Oh boy did I love kissing this man.

~ oOo ~

JEAN

Kissing this woman was absolutely addicting, and I could do nothing but love her more.

Moving my hands to cup her cheeks, I opened her mouth, asking for entrance as my tongue mingled with hers. Her hands crawled up my back, latching her fingernails into my cloak. Shivers slid up my spine as I slowly stepped away, dragging her body away from the wall. Feet moving in a sacred dance, I glanced down into her closed eyes which she, almost as if she sensed I was staring, opened her beautiful orbs.

"Emalina…m-may I?"

She nodded enthusiastically. "Please," she all but begged. I didn't need another affirmation.

Starting with her cloak, I unclipped the fabric, allowing it to fall the the floor as I immediately dragged her shirt up her taut stomach, ever careful with her neck. Rubbing my fingers into her skin, Emalina bit her lip, trying to suppress her moans, however, I wanted to hear her. I needed to hear the beautiful sounds she makes whenever I touch her.

Shirt dragged over her shoulders, I threw the fabric, watching as Emalina unhooked the bra herself, the material falling to reveal her plentiful breasts to me. Attaching my lips to one nipple, I savored the way it hardened against my tongue, flipping and nipping the bud. Emalina buckled her knees as I held her back, keeping the woman in place. Her moans slid into my hair, heating my scalp as I moved to the other nipple.

"Oh Jean…!"

Bingo. That's what I love to hear.

Sliding my hand down her stomach, I traced circles into her skin, goosebumps forming as she tried wiggling away from my grasp. Tightening my hold, my fingers grasped the button to her pants, popping the contraption as I then slowly dragged her zipper down. I could feel her gaze on me as my mouth continue to stay occupied while my fingers worked in dragging the trousers down her legs. Releasing for a quick moment, I silently asked Emalina to remove her legs, her pants gone forever from her frame; all that remained was her last undergarment. Taking my chance before she moved, my lips found the place where I knew her clit would be, gently sucking as I savored the wetness entering my mouth. Oh boy was she already soaked.

"J-Jean!" she cried, fingers digging into my hair. Refraining from chuckling, I did smile, standing to my feet to hold the woman in my arms. She wasted no time in undressing me, her movements quick and calculated. It wasn't long before we stood together, nearly naked in the basic forms all humans shared.

I wanted nothing more than to lay with this woman for the rest of my life.

Gripping the edge of her underwear, I asked, "May I?"

She nodded quickly. "Please, I need you sweetie."

Joining my mouth to her chin, I nibbled onto her flesh, hands occupied as I lowered the last piece of fabric hiding her glorious body from my sight. As she slipped her legs from the fabric, I stared, still ever in wonder at the beauty before me. Not only was I one lucky son of a bitch, but it never ceased to amaze me how such an incredible woman could ever love me back.

I was brought back to reality when Emalina tore my boxers from my legs, leaving us completely naked in our wondrous glory.

Smirking, she seemed pleased with herself as I was caught off guard. Copying her smirk, I picked the female up from underneath her bottom, she then wrapped her legs around my midsection to keep from falling over. I wouldn't've let her fall as I made way towards our bed, gently dropped her onto the sheets, never wanting to cause this woman any harm. Wasting no time, I dragged a finger down to her heated core, never losing contact with her as I easily slid in my digit. Her eyes rolled, head falling backwards - and that was all from my finger.

Gently pulling in and out, I knew she would be ready for me once I was inside, but since this would only be our second time, I wanted to be sure. Emalina's been hurt enough over the years. I didn't want to add myself to that list.

"No Jean, please, I want you. I need you." Pleading with her eyes, she grasped my hand, extending her arm to pull me out.

Leaning over her frame, I cupped her cheek. "Are you sure? I don't want to rush this."

She cupped my cheek as well. "You're not, I just…really want you inside me."

"Well now," my typical smirk back in place. If anything that was just a boost to my ego and I knew it. "What kind of boyfriend would I be if I didn't give my amazing kitten what she desires most?"

Grasping her hands in mine, I lined myself up with her, slowly sinking my hardened member into her soaking core. It was bliss all over again, the same feeling from just a few days prior. Her head immediately thrown backward, hisses released from her mouth which caused me concern. But when she didn't say anything, I pushed on, connecting my lower body with hers. And once again, it was heaven. Nothing could feel as good as being coupled with my lover in such a way.

"Jean!"

"Already with the wails? Oh, I love it when you scream like that."

Hips thrusted into hers, I lost count how long we had remained in such a position. I wanted nothing more than to see if I could get Emalina to orgasm. Suddenly, a thought entered my mind so I leaned backwards, hands firmly holding her hips as my cock reentered her heat again and again. Raising my hand to the apex of her thighs, I grinned wickedly. Emalina didn't seem no notice, her eyes closed, hands gripping the pillow underneath her head as I continuously moved. And so, I dove my finger into her dark curls instantly finding her pearl, circling my thumb over the sensitive nub.

"Holy shit!" she screamed into the room. Back curving upwards, she tried fighting me, tried wriggling away as I continued the onslaught with my thumb.

"And where do you think you're going?"

"Ngh! J-Jean!"

"Does this feel good?" She nodded, breathless gasps escaping her nearly open lips.

Wanting to try something else, I leaned backwards even farther, gripping Emalina behind the back as I lifted her into my lap, never once releasing my cock from her core. She squealed, arms wrapped around my neck for good measure, though there didn't seem to be any regret across her face.

"Oh fucking god…Jean! You feel…you fill me up so much!"

That was the most she had talked, and by god it did something to me. Gaining the strength from my hips, I continuously thrust upward, thumb reattaching back to her core I groaned. She was unbelievably wet.

"Please!" she cried. "Oh please, don't stop!"

"W-Why would I ever do that?"

"Because I'm right there!"

"You are?!"

Rubbing my thumb faster, I scolded myself if I were to lose concentration. Although I could feel the tightening in my abdomen, her pleasure was the most important, and I'd be damned if I came before she had the chance. And suddenly, it happened.

Her core tightened exponentially, sucking in my cock further into herself, the feeling beyond anything I could describe. Her back curled, breasts shoved against my chest as she screamed. Wetness beyond anything I could comprehend dripped down onto my thighs. Knowing this was the end, my hips surged several more times, hands gripping Emalina's waist tightly as I pulled her upward, only to sit her back down on my lap as I grasped my cock, hastily stroking the damn thing until I had finally met my end.

"Ngh…gyah!"

Squirting all over her stomach, my release was heavier and thicker than last time. Everything I had to offer landed on either my thighs or her stomach. I was still saddened as I wanted nothing more than to release inside of her, though we agreed it was safer this way, and I would keep my promise. Gasping for breath, I dropped my forehead to Emalina's, savoring the erratic heartbeat I could feel through her chest. She pulled me closer as I ignored the coolness my release was against my skin.

Soothing strands of hair from her sweaty cheek, I smiled. "Hello kitten."

"Hello sweetie," she copied, rubbing her thumb down my chin.

Knocking my nose against hers, I was all smiles. "I love you so very much, Emalina Varlen."

"And I love you very much, Jean Kirschtein."

Kissing her one more time, I leaned back, admiring such beauty that graced her features. "Hey, um…I, kinda got you something."

Eyes bright, she said, "You did? Oh Jean, you didn't have to do that!"

"Give me a second." Standing, I quickly grabbed a towel, cleaning her stomach first then myself. Retrieving my pants by the door, I grabbed a brown bag from one of the pockets. Retreating back towards the bed, I sat against the wall, Emalina coping my movements as she covered her lower half with the sheet. "This…" I extended my hand, waiting for her to take the bag. "This is for you, kitten."

Slowly taking the small sack, she inspected it our of curiosity then met my attention. "This is so sweet of you, Jean!" Slowly, she undid the drawstring, wondering what could be inside. Watching her amazement, I knew I had chosen the best gift she truly deserved. Dropping the item onto her hand, she stared at it for several seconds, tilted the trinket around until she realized what it was. "Ohh, Jean! Put it on me, put it on me!"

Taking the necklace from her hands, she turned away, whisking her hair over her shoulders as I wrapped the item around her neck, clasping it to stay in place. Resuming her original position, she fiddled with the pendant, seeming to finally realize what it was.

Teary eye, she stared up at me, her hand never once moving from the gift. "Jean…this is…!" With the thin, gold chain wrapped around her neck, in the middle sat a rose pendant. The color fit perfectly against her skin as it settled at the base of her collarbones.

"Remembering when we were in town and there was the stall I wanted to look at when you went inside the store?" She nodded, fingers still fiddling with her new gift. "I saw this and immediately thought of you. I…wanted you to have something, as I've never gifted you anything." My hand instinctively rubbed the back of my neck, cheeks most likely bright red. "You deserve the world, and although I can't give that to you just yet, I…wanted you to have this - oomph!"

Having been tackled, Emalina and I fell against the bed, her above me as the necklace dangled between our bodies. Kissing me hard, she brought my hand towards her breast and I squeezed. Rolling us over until I was on top, I kissed the pendant on her collarbone.

"It's beautiful Jean, but you seriously did not have to get me anything!"

"I know I didn't, but I wanted to. There's a difference, remember?" Kissing her one more time, I continued fondling her chest, fingers rubbing her nipples until they were perky. "Like I said, you deserve the world, I only wish I could gift that to you now."

She drew me into a kiss of nothing except passion. "Jean, you have given me the world." Cupping my face, she rubbed her thumb against my cheek as I curled into her palm. "I don't need anything else as long as I have you."

~ oOo ~

We had fallen asleep not long after our love making, the glorious event having drained our energy. My beautiful Emalina lay wrapped in my arms all night as w lay chest-to-chest. By the time the sun rose in the morning, I had been awake for awhile, watching her sleep. The way her chest gently rose up and down, I couldn't take just how wondrous this woman was. Last night was amazing and I was sad to see her leaving later this morning. I knew this was another mission given to her by the Commander, but that didn't mean I was ready to let her go.

It wasn't long until her eyes fluttered open, the sparkling blue peering upwards at me. No words were needed this morning as we continued to lay in bed. I showered Emalina with kisses. Kisses on her head, kisses on her nose, but mostly, I desired nothing more than to kiss her lips.

As the sun gradually rose higher, we knew it was time for Emalina to get ready for the day. Claiming the shower together, I helped unwind the bandages from her injuries, careful to avoid the stitches before we stepped inside. With the water turned to warm, we scrubbed our bodies down, Emalina having asked me to douse shampoo into her hair. Obliging, I lathered my fingers, rubbing the soapy suds through her long locks, which now fell along the entire length of her back. I asked her to do the same in return, causing me to moan into the water. Her fingernails scratched along my scalp, and I nearly fell asleep right then and there.

Once we were dried and dressed her healing wounds, we dressed ourselves. Deciding against the military uniform, she replaced the outfit with dark trousers and her dark blue t-shirt. Pulling her long locks into a bun, she then threw the Scouts cloak over her shoulders, ready to tackle the wild plains past Wall Sina. By the time she had fiddled her gear across her body, there was a knock upon our door, and once opened, revealed Levi, Erwin and Hange.

"Oi, you ready shorty?"

"Ready as I'll ever be, Levi."

Joining us down at the stables, Emalina spent her time preparing Freyja for the journey. It would take her longer to reach our friends location as it was past the Scout Headquarters. I imagined she would reach there come sundown, unless she pushed Freyja to be there sooner. And as we all walked from Headquarters towards the gate leading out past the Wall, Erwin was in conversation with Emalina.

"You know exactly how you'll respond to the others?"

"Yes, I remember everything we discussed last night. I'll be able to think of something on the spot."

"That's good to hear, Emalina. I appreciate you accepting this task. Miche and the others need to know the updated status of this mission."

"There's no need for thanks, Erwin. Besides, it'll be good to see my friends. It's only been a day but I miss them."

"We should expect you back tomorrow night."

Finally we were near the gate. I hadn't said anything since we left the stables. There wasn't much to say. Honestly, I was embarrassed to speak with Emalina in front of her brother, nonetheless show any kind of romantic emotion in front of him to his sister. Regardless, I held her hand as my lips found her cheek.

"Please stay safe out there," I begged her.

"I'll be fine, sweetie. The ride shouldn't take me that long plus I'll only be gone for one day. You'll see me tomorrow night."

"I know it's just…" I dropped my voice, knowing the three behind us were listening; they didn't even try to hide it. "…I'll miss you."

"I know Jean. I'll miss you too." Standing on her tiptoes, she planted a kiss on my lips, to which I reciprocated immediately.

"Oi! What the hell you think you're - ?!"

"Shush, Levi! Let them be." Thank you Hange.

When we parted, I somehow was able to smile. "Just…make sure you come back safe, alright? That's all I ask. And don't push yourself too hard with your injuries. Angela will be furious if you reopen one of the stitches."

"I promise, I'll be just fine. Besides, what's the worst that could happen?"

I shrugged. "It's nigh impossible, but another titan attack?"

"Not while I'm out there. Besides, I'll just kick their ass like I usually do."

"That you will kitten, that you will." One more kiss when one off the Military Police near the wall called out.

"Thirty seconds until the wall is open!"

Huffing, Emalina mounted Freyja, her legs firm against the saddle as she watched the large gate slowly grind itself awake.

"Ride safe Emalina, we'll see you tomorrow night!" Hange waved goodbye just as the gate began opening.

"Ride hard, ride swift," Levi offered. "Keep on your toes!"

Emalina smiled lovingly at her brother. "Of course Levi. You're the one who taught me to be aware."

"And Emalina?" It was Erwin this time to speak. "Tell Miche that when everything is settled here, we'll send another Scout to report them back to our Headquarters."

"Yes sir!"

Once the gate was fully open, the Military Police member waved her down, given the go for her to leave. Rearing Freyja on her hind legs, she gave all of us one last stare, her last to land on me. "I'll be back," she promised.

"I love you," I whispered.

"I love you too," she answered back. "Hyah!"

Pushing her steed forward, Freyja sprinted through the massive opening, not once looking back. I watched as far as I could until the gate began its descent. Not ready to say goodbye, I ran alongside the wall, pulling the handhelds from their spot beside the inside of my chest, igniting the wires of my ODM gear. Thrusted forward, I ran up the length of the stone wall until I reached the top where I dropped to my knees. From there, I could see the small shape of Emalina's back, her figure having already crossed a decent section of the plain before us.

With a puff of air beside me, I didn't need to turn to know who it was.

"She'll be back tomorrow Kirschtein, there's no need to freak out."

"I know sir, I'm just…concerned."

"Over what? Don't worry over the little shit, she can take care of herself."

"It's not Emalina I'm worried about."

Eyebrow quirked, Levi scowled. "Worried about what?"

I frowned, not exactly sure what to say or express. "That's just it. I don't fucking know." Standing there atop the wall, Levi and I watched Emalina until we could no longer seen her form in the morning sun. By the time she was fully gone from our vision, Levi knocked his fist against my shoulder.

"…thanks."

Eyes shot wide open, I wasn't sure if I had heard the man correctly. "Thanks for…what?"

"I don't have to explain shit to you, Kirschtein. Just accept the damn gratitude and be done with it."

I smirked, knowing this was just a facade he put on for others. In the time I had gotten to know Levi, especially from what Emalina had told me, I truly did believe the man was a softy at heart. "Of course," I said quietly, moving to jump down from the wall.

Just as I was about to ignite my gear, Levi grasped me arm, holding me in place. "You keep Emalina happy, and there's nothing more I want than that. Take from that what you will."

"Then a thanks is needed for you, as well."

"Tch, what the hell for? I ain't done shit."

"For being the family she's needed all this time."

Levi rolled his eyes. "You still don't get it, do you." I stared at the shorter man, not understand anything he was saying. "You're Emalina's family know…which means we're family, dumbass."
