The sudden change of that grounding, pounding heartbeat keeping her somehow anchored to the world outside her hunger had the legacy's head lifting from the throat she was feasting on. Dulling the empty feeling in her stomach with the body's warmed blood supply.
The lingering pains of her prolonged torment dulled a little more with each new mouthful of blood she took.
No. the vampire snarled in her own mind as she hurriedly followed the literal trail of lifeless bodies, she'd left behind in her longing to fill the hunger clawing at her insides back along the hallway she'd found to hide herself in as the strengthening sounds of fighting clash against her ears.
Surprisingly it wasn't a fellow monster she finds attempting to corner her hunter once she'd found the correct room but one of Cal's fellow hunters backing her tired ex against the far wall.
Juliette doesn't bother hiding her hungry moan when her fangs slide into the hunter's throat after the pitiful fight the man attempted to give after she'd griped the much taller man from behind, startling him enough to draw his attention from the out-of-breath teenager sliding farther down the wall nursing her own collection of injuries.
His taste like the rest of them if she truly stopped to think on it reminding her bitterly of Clayton Cook as she laps just as greedily at the man's blood. Too soon the body drops to the floor once she'd drunk her fill just as lifeless as the rest, she'd left drained and discarded as easily as Elinor had done.
"Juliette."
Any other time the legacy would have preened like a happy puppy at the soft prayer-like whisper of her name, now however she knew the true pain that voice could dull out making the legacy back away with her bloodied fangs bared in warning each time the hunter tries to close the separating distance between them.
Cal stops at once surprise and the flickering of pain clouds her eyes as she looks the shorter girl over. Her wounds already healing slowly but surely with each intake of fresh blood. "Jules, please" she tries again earning the same threatening hiss as before as Juliette once again backs farther away from her.
"I've already been through hell thanks to your kind, I'd rather not go through it again thanks." Juliette says with a sigh, "What with you breaking my heart and then sending your father in your stead to break the rest of me." She lists off whipping the blood smears from her lips and chin then licking up whatever remained of her earlier meals as the two hold gazes.
"I didn't….."
Another low hiss quiets the hunter attempted denials.
"Jules, I swear I had nothing…." Cal attempts to reason
A strong hand wraps unyielding around Cal's throat as her legacy shoves her hard up against the closest wall. "Stop lying to me, Calliope." Juliette snarled her blood-stained fangs on full threatening display.
"I didn't think you had it in you Julsy." A cool tone says from behind them.
Juliette's hand slackens enough that the hunter falls coughing and splattering from the legacy's grip as she turns to face the newcomer. "Oliver." Her brother's arms were already outstretched in offering. One Juliette doesn't hesitate to accept as she wraps her own arms around him, nuzzling her face against his front as his arms fold in around her.
Oliver's other arm drops catching his younger sister's knees so he could scoop her up into a more 'bridle' carry as Cal staggers to regain her balance and her oxygen intake as she claws her way back to her feet. The bruising marks of Juliette's hand already forming around her throat as her legacy snuggled so trusting into her elder brother's hold.
"Please." Cal coughed "Oliver plea…" she tries again willing her voice to come out in a far more coherent tone as the legacy she was attempting to plead with was already turning his back to her with a soft "Let's go home Jules." Before he and Juliette were gone in a whisper of speed too quick for and human to hope to catch.
