This is a time travel story . What if Luffy and the crew (new members included) went back in time to help rocks destroy the world government? What if Rocks was a bit different than portrayed in the anime? This has a slight Naruto crossover part to the story. Things like a Fishman Kisame, and Snake devil fruit Sasuke.
The Rocks pirates were a powerful band of monsters. It was a crew consisting of many powerful beings. "King of Beasts" Kaido, Charlotte "Big Mom" LinLin, Edward "Whitebeard" Newgate, "Silver Axe", "Sky witch" Shakky, "Captain John" "Wang Zhi" , "Buckingham Stussy" and "Golden Lion" Shiki were some of the list of the monsters that were heavy hitters of this group of demons. These are just around half of the titans this crew possessed. Some other members of the crew were of similar reputation and power. Uchiha "Susanoo" Madara, Senju "Buddha" Hashirama, Hoshiboshi "Leviathan" Kisame, Uzumaki "Pain" Nagato, "Orochi" no Sasuke, Ōtsutsuki "Rabbit Goddess" Kaguya, Hyuga "Owl Heart" Hinata, Haruno "Death Nurse" Sakura and Kurama "Demon Fox" Naruto.
Each of these monsters possessed Conqueror's Haki and had their own subdivisions and subordinates before they had been slain or split. They were all united under Rocks D. Xebec, history's greatest criminal.
"Is there anything else you would like to know, Luffy?" The one who gave the lesson was Sengoku. The former fleet Admiral of the World Government's assault force, " Marines" .
Sitting across from him was the newly crowned Pirate King, Monkey D. Luffy with his crew standing alert behind him. In the King's hands was a devil fruit, one that looked just like his own did before consumption.
The Hito Hito no Mi, Model : Sun God Nika, was not a power that could be fully and properly contained in one devil fruit. Its energy was divided evenly into two. One had provided the power of an Emperor crowned a King, while the other had sat comfortably with the rest of the One Piece treasure. A devil fruit Roger knew was one of the strongest in history.
A devil fruit that was not even complete…
"Why is there nothing on this man in history? Surely a crew that powerful would have legends around it. Especially with how notorious most of its members became." Robin had gotten smarter. Although King of Pirates, Luffy is not a standard king, and so he must have someone knowledgeable on the crew. Nico Robin is that such person.
"The government went out of its way to erase all trace of him in their history books. Rocks wanted the complete removal of the world government and sought to implement a democratic system where the people could choose who they wanted to lead them for a specific amount of time." Sengoku responded. As one of those who fought the man and survived, he knew of his dream and ambitions.
"It probably would have placed him as the world's first elected ruler, but that was not his concern."Sengoku continued. Luffy was going to learn a lot about the government's history.
"They claimed he was aiming to be King of the world, and the people believed them. Or rather Roger and Garp believed them. Due to the power he possessed and the strength of the pirates reluctantly under his command, it was not a far fetched claim. After Roger and Garp worked together to take him down on God Valley, they learned the truth on Xebec's deathbed, realized their mistake, and understood the deeper sins of the world government. Rocks was a lot like you, Luffy." Sengoku continued his lesson, and surprisingly Luffy was paying full attention, as was the rest of his crew.
"If that is true, why did grandpa sit idly after the battle? Why didn't you do anything?" Luffy had a slight accusatory glare on his person.
"It's not an easy task to turn on your leaders when they have had your loyalty for a long time, Pirate King. If you do, you were never loyal to them to begin with. You know this better than anyone Luffy." Sengoku shot back.
It was true as well. None of the Strawhat Pirates could even imagine betraying each other , much less their captain. Luffy thought of a lot of individuals that justify that point. Garp watched his grandsons get nearly slaughtered by the government in the case of Ace's death and Sabo's amnesia. He was still loyal to the government despite that fact. Blackbeard, on the contrary, joined the whitebeard pirates for the sole purpose of betrayal.
Luffy knew all too well.
"This was the real reason behind the amonisity between Roger and Garp before his capture. Roger wanted to fulfill Xebec's dream after he accomplished his own, while Garp did everything to stop him despite knowing the truth himself."
No one was truly surprised at this point. It was like nuking a wasteland.
"It was after achieving his dream of exploring the entirety of The Grandline that Roger fell ill and surrendered to the marines. He did leave the secrets to the Void Century and the destruction of the world government on Raftel's Prize Poneglyph, but Akainu destroyed it when he attacked you before you had a chance to read it." Sengoku finished.
Luffy took care of the Red Mutt of the Marines, but Robin was crushed that her dream seemed unattainable. Curse the bastard, but Luffy had another question.
"Why didn't the crew help Rocks out? Even Whitebeard alone present, would have ruled Rocks' battle in his favor." Robin was quick to attempt to get that destruction of her mind.
"Due to the force needed to overthrow an entire government, the Rocks Pirates were a crew assembled on power not loyalty or camaraderie. They had such a strong dislike for each other that killing fellow crewmates was acceptable to them. When things turned tough for Captain Rocks, the crew were more than happy to abandon him. Even Whitebeard." Sengoku explained. The crew bristled, as they did not imagine the concept.
Luffy just sighed as he had a feeling that was the case.
No wonder Teach's betrayal stung Whitebeard so much.
"This is another reason why the Rocks pirates are not well known. None of its former commanders wanted to tell its story, and describe their betrayal. The only one from this generation who knew was BlackBeard, Xebec's now revealed son."
That was no nuke. It was a planet wrecker.
No wonder Marshall D.Teach turned out like this. It explains everything.
"There's no way uncle would have let him on his ship if he knew. Teach went to him because he was the best first target. The rest slowly erased themselves due to their notoriety. Teach's hatred for Ace-nii also makes more sense too." Luffy looked like he gained enlightenment, now that he knew the origins of BlackBeard.
The straw hats were agape.
Zoro spoke all of a sudden. He had a very important question. "How exactly does this concern any of us? Why do we need the stories of rotting bones?" It was a very good question. The Story of the Rocks Pirates wasn't going to end Blackbeard's rampage and it wasn't going to improve the chaos of the remaining people.
"That brings me to why I am here. I would like for you to go back in history and change the fate of the world!"
"…Have you gone senile old man?" Usopp did not do well with high stress situations.
Sengoku just chuckled.
"I have not, don't worry Pirate. Koby, you can reveal yourself now."
The soon to be promoted Vice Admiral Koby was walking towards the Strawhats.
Ofcourse, with the state of marines right now, the strawhats did not like that at all. Koby was held at gunpoint by the strongest pirate crew in the current world.
"Woah Woah, relax, I mean no harm." Koby said quickly. An average man would have wet his pants, and the old Koby would have died. He's come a long way. He only jumped a little.
"Koby!!" Luffy still has not learnt to read a room.
"Luffy!" Koby was quick to ask for help.
"Stand down guys. He's an old friend." The strawhats reluctantly put their attacks down.
"Right back to where I was, Koby is here to help you all change history." Sengoku continued unperturbed.
"And back to my previous question, have you gone senile?" Usopp with the wit.
"He has eaten the Time Time fruit. He can send you all back in time. You have all somewhat accomplished your dreams, so I hope you don't mind living in a different timeline."
"We have people we care about…" Princess Vivi, the crew's dancer and politician, was quick to point out.
"How many of them still live, your majesty?" Sengoku retorted.
He was right. The strawhats don't have much left outside their completed adventures.
'I have nothing to work for outside of this. Wano is gone, and my role on the ship is complacent at best. LogKeeper isn't a lively job when the journey's almost done. Plus Nami kept a log anyway.' The self- named Kozuki Yamato, the last to join the crew, was quite blunt with her thoughts on the matter.
'Nojiko is dead, along with the rest of Cocoyashi Village, what do I have to return to?' Nami never truly got rid of her pessimism.
'I found it. The All-Blue. If only all the slaves in Mariejois didn't have to die when the red line split. Although those celestial dragons got what they deserved, I wish it wasn't at the expense of the innocent and tortured.' The All-blue was the point where all the seas united and sea creatures of all four seas united into one. The legend was created before the forging of the Red Line, and the planting of the Celestial Dragons on top of it.
It was a very sad day for Sanji. He shared the same fate as his sweet Robin-swan.
'I became the strongest swordsman. I beat Mihawk before all this chaos happened. I have fulfilled my dream.' Zoro had no worries as he would follow his captain through hell itself.
'I get to see Laboon Earlier!' Brook had no complaints.
'I could live the history instead of learning it.' Robin had a new dream.
'Fishman island is gone. Blackbeard is responsible, and if I have to stop him before he has a reason to start, so be it.' Jinbe was eager to sacrifice himself for his lost people.
'Kaya, I became a strong man on the seas. We'll explore this one together.' Usopp was one of the lucky few to have his hometown untouched by Blackbeard's hunt. Kaya is waiting on the Thousand Sunny behind the strawhats, and while she is much more healthy than before, she is still not a combatant. She claims she is fine as the maid of the crew, but the strawhats agree that a job like that is not fit for one of their friends.
'I am the helmsman of the strawhat pirates, if I don't go, who'll take care of the ship?' Franky was aware of his importance.
'Where my love goes, I'll go. My sisters will understand…." Boa is smitten with her king and will follow him to the different ends of time. She's the only one fit for her love.
The strawhats give nods of their heads. All that is left is the king.
"I see you've all made up your minds…. Alright. All that is left is you Luffy." Sengoku acknowledges the strawhats the decision and faces the sitting Pirate King who has his eyes shadowed by his famous straw hat.
"We need to make a plan on how to deal with the past. I hope you haven't forgot that? I'm not one to make plans, but I can't just punch my way through the fabric of time without a plan to prevent failure." Luffy is talking while eating…. The devil fruit.
"You know eating more than one devil fruits will kill you! What are you doing you fool!" Sengoku shouts while jumping to his feet. The strawhats are also evidently alarmed by Luffy's actions.
"Calm down. This is the same fruit I ate as a kid. How it's cloned I don't know but if anything it'll double my strength. Plus I would have died by now if it wasn't the case." He isn't faced at all by the warning and is quite blunt with his response. Sengoku just sighed for what was probably the millionth time in this war.
'I sense his power growing. Reaching heights only Rocks' ever did. I have no worries.' Sengoku was content. His job is done. Best to leave it to the next generation.
" The plan is simple. Koby will send you 44 years into the past, and you'll have to gain notoriety as a crew for two years. Just take care of the injustice you see and you'll do fine just like last time. Due to the power of your captain, Rocks will be sure to invite him aboard, so build an army instead of a crew. If you can get any of the pirates on the ship to build crews of their own, make each of them divisions of the Rocks Pirates. The rubric is simple. Do not let Rocks die." Sengoku describes the strawhat's mission to them.
" I have a few questions." Brook is the one who speaks this time. " Two things cannot exist in the same timeline can they? What will happen to me? You forget that I'm 91 years old; just a bag of bones. Yohohohoho, skull joke."
Koby speaks up this time. " Two living things cannot truly exist at the same time. They will combine and the newer copy will overwrite the other. You'll be fine." He is quick to reassure Brook that he won't cause a spacial rift in time.
"I'm not living though. I am still dead" Brook intones.
"But your devil fruit is still technically alive, so it counts. Plus you were already dead 44 years ago weren't you? The same rules still apply to you." Koby again reassures.
"I am glad for that. Second question is on devil fruits themselves. What if any of our devil fruits have been eaten by others in the past? Would we lost our abilities, or cause an issue in time?" Brook asks again.
"Ah, good question! You don't have to worry about that! Most of your fruits don't have previous consumers living around this time. If they do exist, then they'll simply pass out and lose the devil fruit ability as it'll return -or rather remain- to you." Koby gives his last response.
Satisfied Brook waits patiently with the rest of the crew.
" Vice Admiral Koby, you know what to do." Sengoku steps aside and allows the young man to approach the pirates.
" Unless you don't want your ship to go with you, I suggest you hop on it immediately, all of you. " Koby intones.
The strawhats grimace and nod. The last thing they need is to land on the open ocean with no ship.
When they are all aboard, Sengoku makes sure that the message is fully understood before Koby activates his power, sending them all 44 years to the past, leaving only Sengoku behind.
The man's form then begins to glow and warp as he realizes that they succeeded.
Although the memories are slowly coming to him, he would rather read about these pirates first hand.
They have quite a story.
