Chapter 3: Friends?
Sesshomaru stood at the base of the stairs, gazing into the crowd. He stood beside his cousin Naraku and his cousin in law Koga, he was barely listening to the designer as he made a toast. Clad in a crisp pair of tight blue slacks paired with a royal purple button up shirt, his sleeves were rolled up showing off his forearms, he drank from a clear crystal champagne glass; golden liquid bubbled as he brought the glass to his lips
He glanced down at his watch as he rolled his shoulders impatiently .
"Got somewhere to be" Naraku asked looking over to his cousin
"Mhm seeing Kyora at 3 tonight" he said nonchalantly bringing the glass to his mouth
"The red headed hoe"
"Darlin'" Koga clicked his tongue shaking his head at his husband shamefully
"What? He's a hoe" Naraku shrugged turning to the chestnut haired beta
He looked over to the newlyweds watching them bicker in the corner. A smiled tugged at his lips as golden eyes shined in their direction, the spider demon had met the blue eyed beta shortly after graduation and were instantly smitten with each other. He watched their love grow, and although the road to marital bliss was riddled with mines and detours, the managed to pull through and we're currently celebrating one year of marriage. He sighed at the thought, admiring their resilience and love for each other, he pushed the bitter feeling down and faced the crowd.
His amber eyes watched the bodies pass through the club as the speaker spoke over the soft murmuring sound, the space was illuminated by a cool blue light that clashed against black walls, silver glitter and balloons littered the marble stone floor.
"Above all else, I want to thank Sesshomaru Riviera for carrying the campaign perfectly! You my friend, are Chanel" the designer rose a glass in his direction as the crowd erupting in applauds congratulating him.
He smiled raising his glass towards the crowd, he downed the champagne quickly coughing slightly, before turning to Naraku and saying "Let's get out of here"
The trio quickly grabbed their jackets, and pushed through the crowd as he led them towards the back exit. He hopped to avoid the press lingering outside at the entrance. He pushed the door open, greeted by the hot city air as they walked into the small alleyway.
"Congratulations cuz, that was dope" Naraku said placing a large hand on his shoulder
He hummed nonchalantly, nodding in his cousin's direction.
"When's the Puma party" he asked changing the topic quickly
"Sometime in May, Ban will let me know" Naraku chuckled, turning towards him and continuing "You headin off from here"
"Mhm yeah! Gonna take an Uber to the Condo"
"The Love Shack" Naraku teased pushing him slightly
"Wait can we stop at the grocery store first, I'm cravin' peanut butta" Koga asked patting his stomach subconsciously
"Mhm I'll come too, should grab some condoms" he muttered turning towards the exit of the alley, walking towards the street
"I swear sugar, you're gonna end up with an STD or worse" Koga scolded holding Naraku's hand as they walked together
"The fuck is worse then an STD baby" Naraku asked slightly confused, his voice booming through the small alley.
"A baby! And lord knows "sir fucks a lot" ain't ready for no child"
"Let me worry bout that! You worry bout when I'm a get some cute ass nephews" he teased licking his lips as Koga blushed deeply.
"Trust! I'm workin' on it" Naraku laughed, grabbing the blushing beta and pressing him closely to his body.
It was a short walk to the nearest grocery store. Opting to stretch their legs, and enjoy the fresh air, He barely listened to the couple chatting he allowed his thoughts to wander as he walked through the silent street. They crossed the empty street walking over to the illuminated store nestled on the end of the block, they walked into the store behind a pair of giggling women
"Aren't you Sesshomaru Riviera, the Quarterback" the red haired woman smiled turning towards the silver haired alpha demon.
"That's me" he smirked walking towards them
"Oh my god, can I get a photo?" the blonde haired woman pleaded, glancing over to her friend.
He was pulled aside by the two women as his cousin walked off. He allowed them to take a few shots, as he wrapped his arm around the squealing girls.
"We love you, your covershoot on Vogue was so hot" the red headed gushed
"Oh you flatter me" he said smiling brightly earning a squeal from the two women
"You must be so pumped for the new season"
"Of course! it's gonna be great, listen I gottah go but y'all have a lovely night"
Amber eyes scanned the large scale store searching for a familiar raven haired man, opting to search for them he began walking leisurely through the aisles. Smiling at the patrons that recognized him; his ears twitched as he heard Koga's souther drawl, using it as a beacon he followed the sound towards a far off aisle. Turning into the aisle he walked up behind his cousin his stride slowing as he was taken back by stark white wavy hair, pulled into a sloppy ponytail. He willed his feet to move as his eyes focused on the snowy haired beta's face, he held the other mans gaze intensely.
His lips tugged into a smile as memories flashed through his mind; he hadn't seen half demon in over five years. Back then he had been greener than Fernbank havin been recruited straight out of highschool, and joined the Georgia State Panthers his freshman year. He remember the day he had bumped into the sassy sophomore; the long eared half demon effortlessly stole his heart and he would shamelessly admit that he had been wrapped around his cute little finger.
Shaking his head attempting to bring himself back to reality, he walked over to his cousin and stood beside him, he raised a slender silver eyebrow as he watched Inuyasha fumble through his words, a frown sat upon his face. He ran his eyes down the other's thick curvy body, enjoying the way his pants tighten around his thighs, he felt a electricity run through his veins as his eyes hardened while a familiar heat pooled in his stomach
"Sesshomaru" he heard catching his attention
"You two know each other" Koga asked looking over at his husband confused
"Yeah he dated Sesshomaru back in the day" Naraku said cautiously
"Back in college" He smiled, closing the gap between them wanting to be closer to the beta.
"Ah uhm" Inuyasha whispered fidgeting with his eyes trained onto the floor
"What? You forget about little ol me" he teased enjoying the blush creeping on the beta's face
Inuyasha mumbled a reply "Uhm Hi" training his eyes onto the floor
"Hey Thickness" he smiled widely, he tilted his head slightly attempting to catch the beta's eye.
"I'm up here ya know" he said
"I should get back" Inuyasha said pushing past the wolf demon walking away from the trio
He looked over to his cousin confused, before turning to following the beta.
"Hold up" he said chasing the smaller demon
He caught up with the snowy haired beta, grabbing his hand softly "Hey let me talk to ya for a minute"
He turned Inuyasha around watching the smaller demon avoid his gaze as he towered over him. He tucked his finger under the other man's chin tilting it upwards. His breath staggered momentarily as he drowned in a swirl of honey, he licked his lips.
"Wow, you're still as beautiful as the first day I seen ya" he whispered
"Don't" Inuyasha muttered looking away, pulling his face from the alpha's hand
"What?" he asked searching the other mans face; his hand burned with a sense of rejection
"You don't have to lie" Inuyasha whispered
He frowned and rose a slender sliver eyebrow "I ain't lying, you look good Thickness"
"uhm I should-"
"Why ya running from me?"
Inuyasha looked up at the larger demon "I'm working"
"Alright, when are ya done? Grab a coffee with me"
"I finish at 6 in the morning"
He whistled haughty "Who'd you piss off" he asked, watching the beta turn his head slightly towards the small crowd that was beginning to form at the cash register.
"Alright, I'll come back! I'll take you to breakfast" he insisted
"I don't-"
"Just an hour? I wanna to catch up witchu, gimme me your phone"
Inuyasha hesitated, biting his lip anxiously
"Just an hour Yash" he pressed
Inuyasha sighed and dug into his pocket for his phone, placing the small device into large hands. He opened the phone and stared at the greeting image of two small faces.
"You have kids" he asked softly, feeling a tug on his heart.
Inuyasha pressed his lips into a thin line and shook his head "Yeah, two"
"Wow! Your husband is a lucky man" he said numbly, pushing the bitter feeling down as he pulled up the contact list.
"I'm divorced" Inuyasha whispered smallily
"Mhm what?" he said typing his information quickly
"I said I'm divorced"
His heart skipped a beat; he shuffled his feet as he tried to regain his composure. He'd rather not dwell on the odd sensation that vibrated through his body as the D word left those plump lips.
"So here's my number, call me when you're done! I'll come and pick you up"
"Sesshomaru you don't have to-"
"I want to! Call me okay" he said earnestly as he grabbed the beta's hand, pulling him into a gentle hug. He wrapped his arms around the smaller demons body, hiding his face in the crook of his neck. He held back a moan and he felt the beta's curves, and softness press against his body. He hesitated pulling away from Inuyasha, wanting to feel the beta a little longer.
"Call me okay"
"Yeah" Inuyasha gingerly
"Yeah" he teased still holding the beta's hand, shaking it softly
"I said yeah!" Inuyasha chuckled earning a smile from beta
"Good,I'll see you in the morning Thickness" he smiled jogging towards his cousin. He turned his head and watched the beta walk away, his eyes found the other man's plump ass that jiggled softly as he walked away. He bit his lip attempting to stop the groan bubbling in his throat.
"What did he say?" Naraku asked eyeing his cousin
"Mind yo business" he smiled, following the pair to the next aisle.
Sesshomaru sat by his window comfortably in his boxers, chest bare as he overlooked the city skyline. A glimmer of light against the midnight sky shined in the darkness as he closed his eyes, letting the silence fill the space around him. He held up his glass watching the amber liquid swirl in the glass, a small smile pulled at his lips as he remembered honey coloured eyes. He hummed approvingly as he felt hands slowly drag down his chest, someone's head on his shoulder, he felt lips kiss his collarbone. He leaned into the touch enjoying the feel of the man's lips.
"It's still early, come back to bed" a seductive voice whispered
"I got somewhere to be" he said muttered,distracted by the cherry haired beta's lips
"Come on, all I need is twenty minutes"
"You're fuckin hella conviencing babe but I gottah be somewhere" he said tilting his head back, looking into ruby coloured eyes. He smiled watching the red bombshell huff, he pulled himself from the comfortable chair and set his glass down on the side table. Turning around to face the smaller demon, he pulled the other man closer to him, pressing him harshly against his body. He swallowed a moan as the vixen dragged a finger down his side, he placed a large hand on his throat forcing the red head to meet his gaze. He hungrily kissed pouty lips, pulling a plump lip between his teeth earning a moan from the flirty beta.
"Raincheck sweetness" he softly kissed Kyora again before the beta pulled himself from his embrace, he watched the naked beauty walk seductively towards his bedroom, shaking his head he chuckled quietly. He heard his phone vibrate, he tilted his head and walked towards the kitchen, he picked up his cell phone and smiled at the unknown number.
"Hello" he said abruptly
"Uh hi, it's Inuyasha from the Whole Foods"
"I know who you are, Thickness" he said softly, turning his head and craning his neck towards the bedroom.
He heard the shower start as he walked towards the balcony, opening the door slightly and stepping outside.
"Right, uhm well I finish in a few minutes but you don't have to come by! I just wanted to - well I don't know what I wanted" Inuyasha rambled
"I know but I said I'd be there, so I'll be there! We can catch up" he said trying to keep his cool, his heart thumping loudly in his chest.
He blew air haughty, as he leaned against the railing.
"Okay, well my shift is almost over" Inuyasha said softly through the phone
"Alright I'll head over, and wait for you in the parking lot"
"Okay"
"Okay" he teased, laughing slightly while waiting for the beta to hang up.
He smiled and shuffled his feet, pushing himself off the railing. He looked towards the horizon, watching the sun begin to peek through. He open the sliding the door and entered his city condo, his bare feet hitting the dark cherry floor
"Who was that?" the cherry haired beta asked, walking towards him clad in tight leather pants and a sheer black blouse.
"Nobody baby" he said nonchalantly as he walked over to the beta. He pulled the red head into his arms and kissed his lips softly, cradling the smaller demon's ass in his hands.
"I've got a crazy ass week, but how about we meet up sometime this weekend? Maybe dinner and then breakfast" he asked watching the exotic bombshell smile softly
"I'd like that papi, I don't like to go too long without seeing you" Kyora said lovingly melting into his touch.
"I know sweetness, and you won't" he said sweetly caressing the smaller demon
Kyora nodded and turned to walk towards the private elevator.
He watched the red haired phoenix demon walk away, enjoying the sight of the tight material covering his curving body. He bit his lip and turned towards his bedroom, opting for a quick showever and a change of clothes. He whistled slowly as a strange sensation crept into his chest, he rolled his shoulders and shrugged the feeling off.
Inuyasha chewed his lip as he peeled off his work vest, and nervously grabbed his large sweater. He had already called Kagome to let her know that he was going to be a little late. He felt foolish for even accepting the alpha demon's request; certainly felt insane to even be near the other demon. He had grown into his own in the last five years, he closed his eyes letting the memory of the demon pass before his eyes. He was wider then he remembered,and based on that hug his body was rock solid. Silver hair cascaded down his back like a curtain of silk that shielded blemish free alabaster skin,and those eyes; pure gold. Sesshomaru had always been a beauty but he changed into something ethereal, something godly.
He, however, hadn't changed for the better. He still had his baby weight and with the ongoing divorce he hadn't bothered to workout, his confidence was shot. His soon to be ex husband had left him for someone younger, sexier and certainly more fit! He had always been thick but adding baby weight, post breakup weight and just plain ol don't give a shit weight, he'd ballooned in the years. He was embarrassed running into his ex at this size, looking an entire mess and at his work! Oh how the mighty have fallen.
He should call and cancel, claiming something came up. Instead he robotically grabbed the rest of his things from his locker and walked out of the employee's lounge.
He walked over to the exit, "Inuyasha wait up" Shippou shouted jogging over to him
He looked over to the ginger haired beta and said softly "What's up"
Stopping in front of him, trying to catch his breath "Do you have a ride? my husbands picking me up"
They walked through the sliding glass doors, and were greeted by the warm spring air. He looked out onto the parking lot, seeing two cars pull in. He watched a silver car park right in front of them, rolling down the window, he sucked in a breathe.
"Hey, you coming" the a black haired alpha demon said, his head pocking through the window.
"Baby can we give -" Shippou started before he was cut off by a honking sound.
He stood on his tiptoes attempting to look over the silver car blocking his view, he saw a black SUV, with tinted windows parked a few rows down.
"Actually my rides here" he muttered nodding towards Shippou, he walked into the parking lot. Crossing through the yellow lines, he bit his lips nervously as he walked closer towards the car. He walked over to the passenger side as the window rolled down, the argent haired beauty sat in the driver's side.
"Morning Thickness" Sesshomaru smiled brightly, one hand comfortably on the steering hair was pulled into a high ponytail, giving him a clear view of his face.
"Hey uhm, are you sure cause I could just take the train"
"Get in" Sesshomaru insisted
He sighed softly, and pulled the car door open gently. He slid inside sitting comfortably on the soft leather, he pulled the door closed and sat quietly as he swallowed a lump in his throat.
"Are you cold, I can turn on the heat"
He trained his eyes onto his lap, his fingers playing with the hem of his shirt.
"No," he muttered silently, regretting his decision.
"Okay, I know a great breakfast spot, it's not too far from here," Sesshomaru said, pulling out of the parking lot. The car was quiet except for the soft hum of the engine
"So when did you start working at Whole Foods?" Sesshomaru spoke, turning his head slightly, looking at the quiet beta.
"Uhm like a month" he said trying to shrink himself into the seat
"What happened to the whole fashion line thing"
He sucked in a breath, and attempted to steady himself. "Can we not talk about that,please?" he muttered. He looked out the window and watched as buildings became a blur as the car pulled off at an accelerated speed, he felt sat in silence. The sun slowly rose behind the horizon illuminating the sky, swirls of blue and a honey orange blended beautifully. They pulled into a restaurant parking lot, electric neon lights buzzing against the morning air as they parked closest to the entrance. He felt Sesshomaru put the car in park as the humming engine stopped.
He pushed the car door open, and climbed out. He looked over to the alpha demon and followed him in silence, keeping his distance. The silver haired demon pulled the door open, holding it open for him, his ears twitching at the sound of pots clanging, whistling tea pots and soft chatter from the other patrons. His eyes wandered taking in the painted pale yellow walls, littered with aged photos of fruit, and dessert. The smell of fresh coffee wafted through the air, as Sesshomaru led them to a small booth neatly tucked away .
He slid into the booth, opting to sit opposite of the argent haired alpha. He watched a waitress approach their table and pour coffee into white stained glass cups.
"So what did you want to talk about" he asked bitterly wrapping his hands around his coffee mug
"I wanna catch up Yasha, I ain't gonna interrogate ya! Tell me bout your life" said Sesshomaru sincerely as he shrugged his jacked off his shoulders revealing a tight white long sleeved shirt, pushing his sleeved upwards revealing his taunt forearms.
He looked into the dark liquid, his honey eyes shining in his reflection. He bit his lip, trying to calm his nerves "What do you wanna know?"
"How about what you've been up to these past few years?" Sesshomaru asked, tilting his head lowly trying to catch his gaze.
He chuckled bitterly and said "Shouldn't I be asking you that? You're this super successful pro baller with all the money in the world! Shouldn't we be talking about your amazing life"
Sesshomaru raised a single silver eyebrow,taken back by the beta's tone. He bit the inside of his cheek before he spoke "We could if ya want but I wanna hear bout you"
He looked up at the alpha sitting across him, looking into heated golden eyes, he shook his head softly brushing his bangs from his eyes.
"Got married, had kids, my husband cheated and now I'm getting a divorce. That's my life story" he said angrily.
"Damn! I'm sorry Yasha" Sesshomaru said sincerely not missing a beat
"What?" he said looking up at the alpha demon, a frown maring his face
"I said, I'm sorry"
His frown deepened, his tongue darting out to moisen his lips before he spoke "yeah well, can't cry over spilt milk"
"And you've got kids? What are their names" the alpha demon said raising a slender hand beckoning the waitress
"Tanner and Rea, they're five years old and 10 months old," he said as the waitress arrived at their table.
"Hey there, what can I grab for you both" the blonde waitress asked, popping her gum.
"I'll have the eggs benedict, with salmon and a side of turkey bacon"
"I'm okay" he said pushing the menu towards the waitress
"Eat somethin, it's on me! Whatever ya want" Sesshomaru said, pushing the disgraced menu closer to him.
He sighed, and look at the menu in front of him before he spoke softly "Fine, i'll have scrambled eggs and a side of bacon"
He crossed his arms in front of his chest and leaned against the seat, watching the other man attentively.
"10 months? Jeez, barely a year old. When did this happen?"
"It's been maybe six months since we broke up" he muttered
"Shit! That's not too long ago, how are ya holdin up?" Sesshomaru said, reaching over the table top reaching for his hand, he felt the large clawed hand cover his own.
"I'm fine, I manage" he said softly, clearing his throat.
"We can talk about it if ya want" Sesshomaru said, squeezing his hand.
"No uhm I'm ah fine" he said his voice cracking as he felt his eyes sting, he tilted his head back trying to will the tears away.
"Is there anything I can do?"
"Shit you know a good lawyer" he said bitterly as he blinked away tears.
"Yeah actually, I know a shit ton! You can have your pick of em" Sesshomaru chuckled watching him intensely.
"Yeah I'll get back to you when I hit the lottery" he said biting his lip
"Wait ol dude ain't payin? Is that why you're workin at a grocery store" Sesshomaru said clicking his tongue
"Yeah" he whispered dropping his head, trying to shield his eyes behind his bangs
"Fuckin dick! Pulled a fast one eh! Ol dude thinks he's slick" Sesshomaru said rolling his eyes, the twang in his voice becoming more prominent
He chuckled shaking his head,sniffling softly "I almost forgot you're from Decatur"
Sesshomaru laughed, throwing a wink in his direction "Born and bred baby, Georgia's finest"
He smiled at the alpha demon, as the waitress placed their food in front of them.
"I can help ya out Yasha! Money ain't an issue" Sesshomaru said earnestly, cutting into the eggs. The yolk spilled into his plate, the alpha demon picked up a piece of his egg and slipped the piece into his mouth, his tongue darting out to lick the yellow yolk that fell on to his lips. He watched in awe as the pink tongue licked plump lips clean.
"No no, I'm fine. We'll manage"
"Nah, it ain't 'spposed to be like that! Your Alpha should be around to take care of his kids and his beta" Sesshomaru said firmly.
"Sesshomaru I couldn't ask-"
"You ain't askin, i'm offerin" Sesshomaru said gently, looking over to him. The alpha flashed a toothy smile, and he almost melted. He felt his face burn, as he tucked a loc of hair from his face.
"Same old Sesshomaru" he chuckled, moving his scrambled egg around.
"What's that mean"
"It means your still the same old pushy hard headed bastard" he laughed smiling at the alpha
"There he is" Sesshomaru chuckled
"What?"
"I was wonderin where you went off too! Good to see ya still in there" Sesshomaru teased as his boisterous laughter filled the restaurant. He smiled enjoying the sound of the laughter, he felt his chest tighten with a familiar warmth.
He cleared his throat, watching Sesshomaru dig into his breakfast.
"What about you?" he asked, trying to hide the effects of Sesshomaru's words, he bit his lip nervously.
Sesshomaru leaned back, spreading his arms out, stretching his muscles.
"What about me?" Sesshomaru said, chuckling, teasing him.
Rolling his eyes, he laughed and said "Well let's start with what it's like to be Sesshomaru Damon Riviera, number one draft pick, Falcon's youngest quarterback and three time MVP"
Sesshomaru laughed, and leaned forward looking at him with a mischievous giant in his azure eyes, he felt like a prey caught by a predator.
"You keepin up with me" Sesshomaru teased
He blushed deeply, trying to clear his throat as he stuttered "Don't flatter yourself Riviera"
"it's fuckin amazing! I've got crazy promo deals, I'm in every magazine from here to Newark! I've traveled and I'm doin what I love ya know! Playin ball in front of millions'' Sesshomaru said earnestly
"You sound like one of your interviews" he said rolling his eyes
Sesshomaru was taken back, pulling his lip between his teeth. He swallowed harshly and looked over to the white haired beta before speaking.
"Honestly?" Sesshomaru said
"Preferably" he said not missing a beat
Sesshomaru sighed and opened his mouth, looking away for a moment before closing his mouth again. He watched the alpha shake his head, a strange look passed onto the demon's face momentarily before it was replaced with his normal smirk.
"What can I say Yasha, my life's like a movie"
He hummed nonchalantly, ignoring the false sweetness in Sesshomaru's voice
Inuyasha stood outside his apartment building, Sesshomaru trailing behind him. They walked up the stairs, ignoring the shuffling of patrons. He walked towards his door, stopping in front of the old worn down door.
"Ah thanks, for uhm breakfast and listening to my problems" he said shuffling his feet awkwardly, looking at the stale stained floor.
"I'm up here ya know" Sesshomaru teased leaning against the hallway wall.
He looked up at the alpha demon, glaring his eyes slightly earning a laugh from the other demon.
"Bastard" he said loftly
"And of course Thickness, It was really great seein ya"
He moved to put his key into the door before he felt a hand on his shoulder, he turned his head to look at the other demon.
"I meant what I said at breakfast, I'm gonna help you through this! I've got a lawyer you can use, and don't worry bout the money. I got it! And in the meantime, if you need anything! Call me okay"
"Okay" he said
"Okay" Sesshomaru teased, pulling him into a hug. He couldn't remember the time he was held so tightly, he closed his eyes allowing the alpha's sent to surround him. He felt every muscle in the other demon's chest as he was held in place, he stifled a moan threatening to pass his lips. Mentally groaning when the demon pulled away.
"I'll see you Tuesday afternoon alright, we'll meet the lawyer and get shit started" Sesshomaru looked into his eyes fiercely.
"Thank you, for ah everything" he muttered, watching the demon pull away and walk towards the stairs.
He pushed the door open, and walked into his apartment. He sighed softly as he locked the door, slouching his shoulders.
