Chapter 4:Friends?
Inuyasha sat in the lawyer's office against a comfortable leather chair listening to the poised woman in front of him detail their new plan of attack. His head rested against his knuckles as his eyes slyly darted to the demon sitting next to him. The alpha demon sat there with his legs crossed clad in black jeans, ripped along the thigh, giving him a clear view of the skin peeking through. His eyes dragged upwards leading towards the demon's chest, the white V neck he wore sat snuggly on his skin giving him a peek of muscular build hiding beneath. He swore internally trying to focus on the words his new attorney was saying, his mouth felt dryer than the Sahara desert as he watched the alpha demon's body flex as he moved slightly.
"I think we should start with his unwillingness to see his kids, which should work in our favour. We can sue him for child support, and then present the workup of how much you've spent in the past 6 months" she said
"Do ya think that'll help Sango" Sesshomaru said leaning closely
"Yes, we can prove neglect! Once the motion has passed, we will argue for alimony and his legal fee paid. We can make it a condition of his divorce"
"How much do ya think he can get"
"Mr. Shikon is a prominent nerouserougent, we can take more than half that's for sure! I believe we should also ask for the house, that way-"
"No" he said firmly, shaking his head swiftly from his horny thoughts, startling the others in the room.
The two looked over to the beta, he licked his lips and leaned closer "I don't want to live in that god forsaken house"
Sesshomaru scrunched his face looking over to Inuyasha, he watched the beta rise from his seat and walk over to the window behind Sango's desk.
"That place was a hell hole, I don't wanna step foot back into the fucking house" he said bitterly
"Sesshomaru, can you step outside for a second? Give me and Inuyasha a second to talk" Sango asked, watching the beta intensely.
Sesshomaru raised an eyebrow, shooting a look towards the attorney.
"Alright, I'll be outside," Sesshomaru said, pushing himself from his chair, and walking towards the door.
Once he was outside and out of ear shot, the attorney spoke "Mr. Takakashi, was Mr Shikon abusive in anyways during your married"
He stiffened, pulling his lip between his teeth. He sighed and turned to face the other woman "He didn't hit me or nothing" he muttered
"Abuse in the eyes of the law is not limited to physical, it also includes emotional abuse. You need to tell me sir, so I can and respectfully; rip this jerk a new ass"
He pressed his lips into a thin line, and placed a hand over his face and whispered "Yes, he uhm he did"
"I need you to sit and tell me everything, in detail please"
He took into a sharp breath "It started when Tanner was born, he'd uhm yell all the time. Throw things at me, plates uhm pots, candle holder, whatever he could reach" he muttered walking over to the chair and dropping harshly into the seat.
"He never failed to remind me what a piece of shit I was, saying the only thing I could do was lay on my back" he whispered feeling a lump raise in his throat, as his eyes stung.
Dropping his gaze to the floor, feeling tears begin to swell in his eyes "He would shove me into the wall when he was angry, which was pretty much all the time. Punch the wall, and if anything was out of place he'd fly into a rage. When I didn't lose the weight after Tanner he called me -" he stopped biting his lips as he blinked the tears in his eyes away, letting them slide down his face.
"He said I was disgusting, that I repulsed him. I was holding Tanner one time, and I was uhm maybe 4 months pregnant at the time. He walked into the house, like a bat outta hell! Going on about some charge on the credit card! I uh told em it wasn't me, and he zeroed in on me. I barely had time to put Tanner down before he came at me. Cussin, shouting and shit! Calling me a good for nothing piece of shit! He shoved me against the fridge repeatedly! After I uhm was crying on the floor he came to find me and said I should clean myself up! I went to the bathroom, and took my clothes off. My whole back was bruised, ugly too! Black and blue mess! I was pregant" he whispered, wiping his face, looking up at the woman.
She looked at over at him, and pushed her glasses upwards, clenching her jaw tightly
"We are going to tear that motherfucker down, after I'm done with him. He won't even have a pot to piss in"
She rose from her chair and walked over to him, he awkwardly stood up, his face was red, and tear stained.
"Meet me at the courthouse tomorrow morning, and we'll get this party started" she said firmly extending her arm, prompting him to shake it
"Yeah okay" he muttered moving towards the door, he placed his hand on the door knob before her voice stopped him.
"Mr Takakashi, do me a favour and bring Sesshomaru with you tomorrow"
He stilled and turned around, to face her.
"Is that a good idea?"
"Men like Kakakshi thrive on intimidation, seeing someone bigger around you will make him think twice about hurting you"
He nodded, and pulled the door open and moved to walk into the lobby, hesitating at the sound of her voice.
"I know it doesn't seem like it now, but that other man did you a favour!" she said softly, his ears twitching slightly as he walked away.
He walked over to the alpha demon, who was sitting next to the elevator, he watched the demon raise to his feet a frown marring his perfect face. He stood in front of the demon, sniffling slightly his lip trembling, he opened his mouth but no words came out. He felt the demon take his hand and lead him towards the elevator, he stifled a sob as silent tears streamed down his face. They stood in the metal container in silence, the doors opened quickly into the car garage and he was led towards the alpha demons car.
They stopped behind the car, and Sesshomaru stood in front of him grabbing his hands softly.
"Yash, do you want to talk 'bout it?" Sesshomaru asked
He shook his head, biting his lip trying to keep the sob from passing his lips, he swallowed a lump in his throat and blew out air harshly.
"Come on, I'm takin' ya home and we can talk there alright"
Inuyasha stood in his small kitchen watching Sesshomaru sit comfortably at his island counter table, rubbing his face as he poured the hot liquid into the small mug. He had texted Kagome, letting her know he was home and was simply waiting for her to bring the kids back, he bit his lips contemplating whether it was a good idea to have his kids meet the dog demon.
He placed the mug in front of the silver haired demon, and turned the stove off.
"Sesshomaru, I uh don't want to sound ungrateful but what are you doing?" he asked, folding his arms in front of his chest and cocking his hip.
He watched the demon place his large hands around the small mug, it was comical how awkward the cup looked in his hands. Sesshomaru looked up, amber eyes swirling with an emotion he just couldn't place.
"I asked myself the same question the other day" Sesshomaru said taking a sip of the hot tea
"Sesshomaru I -" he began before he was cut off
"When I ran into you the other day, I was acting on habit, and then I had you in my car and in my arms and I don't think I can just walk away now" Sesshomaru said softly looking over at him
"First of all you didn't have me anywhere" he huffed
Sesshomaru smirked and said " there it is again" pointing towards him.
"There what is?"
"The man I knew, he's still in there"
"Time has passed Sesshomaru, I'm not the same kid I was five years ago"
"Neither am I Yasha, but at the very least I think we can be friends, I don't know about you but stayin away from ya is gonna be hard now"
He huffed, pressing his lips into a firm line, as his heart sped up slightly. He swallowed harshly, feeling his face become hot under the alpha's gaze. He nodded softly, knowing the truth in the alpha's words, they for whatever reason found their way back to each other and he couldn't stop seeing the demon now.
"Look I'm a package deal now, If you're going to be coming around, you have to commit! I've got kids and they'll get attach and -" he ranted
"I'm a man of my word Yasha, you know that" Sesshomaru said firmly, his intense gaze sent a shiver down his spine.
"Just friends" he said
"Just friends" Sesshomaru repeated
He opened his mouth to speak but was startled by the sound of his door opening. He watched his son run over to him, the little brown haired boy hugging him tightly.
"Papa, I missed you" Tanner said, as Kagome approached behind him holding Rea closer to her chest.
"Rea just had a nap, and Tanner ate already" she handed the baby girl over to him, he grabbed her softly and hugged her close to his chest.
Kagome balked at the large demon sitting at the counter, she whistled lowly bouncing her eyes brows towards him. He rolled his eyes, and turned to Sesshomaru "Sesshomaru this is Kagome, my neighbour"
Sesshomaru rose from his chair, walking over to the dainty woman, he towered over the raven haired woman.
"Hey how ya doing?"
Kagome's eyes widened as she took a step back and gave the demon a look once over.
"Damn, how are you fine on the TV and In person" she said whistling
Sesshomaru laughed, grinning sweetly "Thank you"
Sesshomaru felt a tug on his leg, and turned his gaze towards the floor. He looked into large green eyes, a messy head of brown sat utop the boy's head.
"Scuse me, I'm Tanner" the boy said shooting him a toothless smile
Sesshomaru felt his heart skip a beat, he dropped into a squat and allowed himself to be eye-level with the little boy.
"Well hello Tanner, I'm Sesshomaru" Sesshomaru said sweetly, a bit taken back when the little boy shot into his arms, giving him a hug. He looked up at Inuyasha,watching frown mar the beta's face, he placed his arms around the little boy and pulled him into a tight hug.
He let the kid go, and watched as the energetic child bounce into the living room. He walked over to Inuyasha, and stopped in front of him. Cocking his hip against the sink counter, he titled his head watching the beta rock the baby in his arms sweetly, a wave of emotion washed over him, he rolled his shoulders trying to shake the unknown feeling.
"And this must be little Rea" Sesshomaru asked, looking at the white haired baby hiding in the crook of Inuyasha's neck.
"She's shy, totally Daddy's Girl" Kagome said
Sesshomaru humed, watching the domestic scene in front of him. He felt his phone vibrate in his pocket, and pulled the device free, sucking his teeth and rolling his eyes, he answered it.
"I'm off this morning, Kagura!" he said, moving away from the kitchen.
"Yeah I know, and you've been MIA since Sunday morning! I'm just reminding you that you've got to meet your personal trainer tonight and you have a mandatory meeting with coach tomorrow at 4:30"
"I know, I'll be there. Look I have to go"
"Wait, I was wondering how the party went"
"It was fine! I have to go!" Sesshomaru said hanging up before she spoke again, he walked back into the kitchen.
"Listen I've gottah go, meeting my trainer tonight and I still gottah stop by my ma's place"
"Yeah no problem" he said, as Kagome pried the baby from his arms.
"We'll give you a minute" she said walking over towards the living room, she turned around and mouthed something in his direction, she put the baby down in the playpen and looked over towards him and started humping the air forcefully.
He rolled his eyes, and looked over to the alpha demon.
"I'll walk you out" he said, walking over to the door.
The pair stood in the hallway, he shoved his hands into his pocket awkwardly.
"Uhm the lawyer thinks it's a good idea for you to come tomorrow to the hearing"
"I'll be there," Sesshomaru said quickly, nodding.
"I've got to get lunch started" he said turning towards the apartment
"Yeah, sure! If you need anything, call me okay"
"Okay" he said pushing the door open
"Okay," Sesshomaru teased, and turned towards the staircase.
He watched Sesshomaru walk away, and then stepped into the apartment, closing the door behind. He turned around and jumped slightly as he was faced with beaming blue eyes.
"Okay you are telling me EVERYTHING! Right now" she said
He chuckled, and walked over to the living room couch. He bit his lips and shook his head, not believing the past few days he had.
"What do you wanna know?" he said, tucking his leg under his bum as he sat on the couch
"Let's start at the beginning please" she said, smiling sitting opposite from him.
"Well remember Saturday night, I worked the late shift" he began
She hummed in agreement, nodding.
"We bumped into each other at work, and well technically I bumped into his cousin and then he just sort of appeared"
"AND!" she said emphasizing her words
"He insisted we catch up, I told him it wasn't a good idea but Sesshomaru's always been stubborn. So anyways, we went for breakfast and talked-" he continued
"About?" she asked
"If you'd shut up, I could get to the point" he said annoyed
"Well just skip to the good part"
Rolling his eyes he said "I told him what's been going on and he offered to help, next thing I know I'm sitting in some fancy lawyers office with him and she's detailing what the game plan is" he shrugged
"That's it? No kissing or anything?" she exclaimed
"Kagome, I'm still married" he said rolling his eyes
"Yeah well someone should tell your husband that!"
He clicked his tongue, turning his face from her, he exhaled and rubbed his face roughly.
"I'm sorry Inuyasha, but it's the truth and even then! He was a terrible husband, so you have every right to grab Sesshomaru and fu-"
"Kagome" he scolded her loudly
"What? Don't tell me you don't want to ride his face"
He bit his lips as his face heated, blush covering his cheeks and neck.
"Sesshomaru has always been-"
"Sinfully sexy, the hottest man we've EVER SEEN" she laughed
"Yes but I- look we're better off as friends okay"
"Why'd you too break up anyways?" she asked nonchalantly
"Argh, let's just watch TV okay" he muttered trying to desperately change the subject.
Sesshomaru's feet pounded against the treadmill, his legs pumped faster as sweat began to bead on his brow, his bangs sticking to his forehead. He ran bare chested; his pectorals bounced as he ran, his breathing staggered while his chest rose and fell quickly. His arms were cocked at his side mimicking the movement of his legs. He focused on the white wall in front of him, trying to calm the storm swirling inside, putting all his frustration into his workout.
"You gon tell me what happened?" Naraku asked running beside him
He looked over to his cousin as he pushed himself harder, his silver hair pulled into a tight bun with escaping tendrils stuck to his neck.
"Tell ya what?" he said running faster
"Don't play dumb 'Maru, talk to me"
He cocked his eyebrow and reached out for the base of the treadmill, hitting a red button, he jogged as the machine slowed. He reached out for his water bottle, taking a quick glup, and splashing some cold water onto his face, enjoying the cold sensation on his skin. He walked over to the corner, and sat harshly onto the bench; his cousin tossed him a towel as he walked towards him.
He wiped his face and stretched his biceps, flexing the sore muscles underneath.
"He's getting a divorce" he stated
"Damn, one ride on ya dick and he's ready to runaway with ya" Naraku joked, standing above him loading the weights onto the bar.
He laid back, and shot the spider demon glare as his fingers curled around the barbell.
"I'm jokin" Naraku said lifting the weighted bar over the hitch.
He held the heavy object, and dropped it close to his chest and breathed out as he extended his arms in front of him.
"So then what happened?" Naraku questioned spotting him
He grunted as he continued his reps, trying to focus on his breathing as he pumped the heavy weights,his biceps flexing at the strenuous motion.
"I'm just helpin him out" he said straining
"With what?" Naraku continued, watching him intensely
"His man did em dirty, so I set em up with a good lawyer and told em I'd foot the bill and whatever else he needs til the child support kicks in"
"You send em to Sango?"
He chuckled, "Fuck yeah, she's a shark"
Naraku hummed, staring down at him "So why do all of this?"
He kissed his teeth, rolling his eyes as he lifted the bar onto it's hitch, sitting up quickly. He looked over to his cousin, and said "Don't start alright"
Naraku shrugged, "you still feelin em?"
"Pfft man cut that shit! It ain't like that" he said standing up abruptly, ignoring his cousin's intense glare
"So what's it like? Cause you ain't spent more than two days with any beta, let alone with clothes on" Naraku said rolling his eyes.
"We're just friends" he said turning to face the spider demon
"Mhm right! Friends who used to bone like rabbits and we're fucking crazy bout each other" Naraku laughed
"He's got two kids" he muttered bring the water bottle back to his lips
"Damn, ol dude left his ass with two kids? What kinda prick does that?"
"The kind that's gonna get my fist shoved up his ass if he even breathes in 'Yasha's direction" he said angrily
Naraku pressed his lips into a fine line, choosing his next words carefully "All's I'm sayin is the beta walks back into your life barely three days ago, and y'all are joined at the hip! You're tellin' me, nothin's going on?"
"Fuck man! I said nothin" he said firmly roughly rubbing his face
Naraku walked over, standing in front of him as he folded his arms "If you think, y'all can just be friends after everything that went down between y'all! You're an idiot"
He watched his cousin walk towards the change room, he bit his lip and swore lowly. He stood up, and followed the spider demon into the change room. Quietly walking over to his locker, he pulled it open harshly and grabbed his duffle bag. He blew past the other alpha demon, his nostrils flared as he jogged down the steps, he walked over to his car and jumped in,throwing the bag into the backseat. He sighed harshly, and turned the key against the engine, his car roared to life as he adjusted the gear and pulled away from the gym. He pressed his foot against the gas and sped off into the night, he rolled down the window allowing the cool breeze to brush past his face, he tried to calm his thoughts as storm brewed in his chest.
His stupid cousin couldn't leave well enough alone, he angrily gripped the wheel. He knew deep down that the other alpha demon was right, he'd ran into Inuyasha barely a few nights ago and already the half demon was occupying his mind and his time. He honestly didn't know what came over him when he had chased the beta down and partially begged him to meet up with him. His body moved on its own, and he acted on sheer instinct whenever he was around the snowy haired beta. One look into those big round honey golden orbs and he was a goner, his inner demon willing him to comfort and protect.
The beta looked fantastic, for the life of him he couldn't understand how the hell Inuyasha's ex could cheat on half demon had certainly gotten thicker in the past few years, that coke bottle shape was accentuated and those thick thighs had grown, the thought alone sent heat to his groin. He stole frequent looks at the beta's ass and whew! He always had a great ass but now! That thing was round,bodacious and just plain ol' juicy, it jiggled as he walked. The snowy haired beta seemed to only wear sweats or yoga pants; which was fine with him since it gave him a clear view of all his assets.
He sighed, as he pulled off the highway, his mind swirling. He pulled into his parents garage space, parking beside his dad's truck, shutting off the engine quickly. He pushed the door open and grabbed his duffle bag and walked over to the front door, pushing his key in, he unlocked it and flung the door open.
"Ma! Pops" he shouted
"In here baby" he heard a small feminine voice wafted from the kitchen.
He walked towards the kitchen, white walls stood tall decorated with family pictures.
"There's my baby" his mother smiled at the sight of him, she pulled him into a big hug. He bent down allowing her small arms to envelope him. He put his face in the crook of her neck, and stood still holding her in place. He felt her begin to pull away but he just remained in her arms, tightening his hold on the older demoness.
"What's wrong peach?" she said softly
He sighed pulling himself away from the smaller demon, he looked down at her pale face. Her golden eyes shined against porcelain skin, purple markings accenting on her face with a perfect crescent moon sitting atop her forehead.
He was the spitting image of his mama!
"Nothing mama" he forced a smile
She squinted her eyes, watching him walk over to the dinner table.
"Young man you best not be coming in my house, lyin to ya mama" she said sternly, her hand placed on her cocked hip.
"Mama" he whined
"Young man" she chastised
"Okay okay, I ah well I bumped into Inuyasha the other day" he said looking down at the table, shrugging his shoulders.
She walked over to the table, and sat down in front of him "Now I know I raised my baby to stand tall, quit slouching"
He straightened out his back, and met her glaze, he chuckled to himself lowly, his mother was a ball buster.
"So you bumped into Inuyasha and" she said motioning for him to continue
He cleared his throat, and said "Well I asked him if we could catch up and we did, turns out he's divorcing his alpha and he's got two kids"
She cocked her eyebrow and said "Hmm so he's leaving another alpha, seems to be a habit"
He sighed, rolling his eyes "Mama don't -"
She raised her finger and pointed at him "Don't sass me baby! Hmpf that beta has always been fast! Leaving you all heartbroken. I outta-"
"Ma!" he exclaimed, raising his voice, he watched her tilt her head slightly, taken back by his tone.
"I'm sorry mama, just don't talk about em like that" he said licking his lips, lowering his head
"Mhm you still care about him" she stated, not leaving room for a discussion as rose from her seat and walked over to him
He watched as she walked over to him, pulling her chair closer to him. He sighed as she took his hand and leaned into her touch.
"I dunno Mama, but seeing him the other day brought a bunch of shit back that I didn't even know was still there"
"Well baby, I'm not going to tell ya what you should do but remember that y'all aren't kids no more, and both of you come with extra baggage!" she said sincerely
"I know Mama, I know," he said, sighing as he continued to grip her hand tightly
"Don't forget to protect yourself baby! He broke your heart once" she said sternly
*TRIGGER WARNING*-emotional abuse
Inuyasha stood in the kitchen chewing his lip nervously watching his phone vibrate in the corner, his ex husband had been calling all evening. Dialing and then leaving a voicemail, only to call him again, he sighed reaching out for the phone.
"Uh hello" he muttered
"What the fuck is wrong with you" the bull demon shouted
" 'Kashi I don't-" he started
"Don't play naive with me Inuyasha! You couldn't just accept that I left you!"
"The kids-"
"This isn't about the kids, it's about the fact that you can't stand to see me happy with someone else! So you think you can take my money" Kakashi shouted
He rolled his eyes bitterly before saying "They're your kids too and you left me alone to-"
"Exactly I LEFT YOU! YOU FAT PIG"
He winced, swallowing harshly trying to calm his nerves, he looked over to the living room watching his son play happily on the floor.
"Don't" he whimpered
"Oh shut up! You're pathetic, and how the hell can you afford Sango Tashio huh? Why the hell do you need my money if you can afford her!"
He kept silent, allowing a sigh to leave his body. He regretted answering the phone as the alpha demon continued to chew him out.
"Do you have any idea what you've done" the bull demon yelled through the phone
"Kakakshi you haven't even seen the kids! What else was I supposed to do?" he muttered
"Get a fucking job, you lazy fat slob"
He winced at the insult "I- I" he stuttered
"I-I your fucking stupid! You've got shit for brains Inuyasha"Kakakashi mocked
He bit his lip feeling a familiar pain begin to blossom in his chest he opened his mouth trying to form words,biting the inside of his cheek. He felt tears well in his eyes and he braced for the demon's continued attack.
"You've got nerve! Trying to take my KIDS from me! And suing me for back child support AND ALIMONY! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME! YOU'RE NOTHING! YOU'RE FUCKING DONE! You hear me! When I'm done with you, they'll have to peel you off the sidewalk! I'm on my way now! You aren't taking my kids" the bull demon screamed before hanging up.
He stood in the kitchen wide eyed, tears streaming down his cheek as he held the phone, looking down at the blank screen,pain crept into his veins willing him to move his feet, he swallowed harshly walking over to the living room.
"Tanner baby" he choked frantically wiping his face, he watched the little boy look up.
He knelt down and picked the little boy up in his arms, balancing him on his hip holding him tightly to his chest.
"Let's go play in your room okay" he whispered, gathering the toys quickly from the floor.
He walked over to the kids room, opening the door and placing the little boy on his play pad. He peered into the crib, watching his daughter sleep peacefully.
"Papa everything 'kay" the little boy asked
He wiped around, as fresh tears poured from his honey coloured eyes, he knelt down and kissed the little boys brown hair before whispering "Papa's okay, just play in here okay"
He walked out leaving the door slightly ajar, he quickly walked back towards the kitchen. He began to pace wondering what he should do, he reached out for his phone and peered into the screen. His hands shaking as he searched his contact list, trying to figure out who he should call, his father was back in Detroit, Kagome and Ryu were gone til tomorrow. He bounced on the balls of his feet before settling on dialing an unfamiliar number.
He held the phone to his ear, praying for the alpha to answer
"Hey" the familiar voice
He sighed shakily, thank god briefly.
"Sesshomaru" he said weakly sniffling
"Yeah! What's up" the silver haired said concern creeping in his voice
"You said to call if I need anything"
"What happened"
"I need your help" he pleaded eyeing the clock nervously
"What's going on?"
"Just come please! And hurry" he whimpered
"Alright, I'll be there in barely 15 mintues okay!, hang tight"
He simply nodded backing into the counter, before sinking to the cold tile floor, his breathing becoming shallow and listened to shuffling on the other line, keeping the phone pressed tightly to his ear as tears slid down his cheek. Unable to move he sat still, praying that Sesshomaru would make it in time, his eyes slid closed as tears streamed down his face.
Alright we're ending it here! I always hated cliff hangers as a reader but damn as a writer they're pretty cool lol
