In another realm, the realm of Oberon, there was a school for Fae children. And in this school Meteora was the teacher.
"There are two kinds of Faes: The Seelies and Unseelies," Meteora told her class, using magic to show animating imagery while explaining the two kinds of Faes. "There was once a time where both clans of Fae were united, but then our King Oberon and Queen Titania, his then wife, separated and split the two Courts. Titania's Court are the Seelies and they are known to help undeserving mortals. In Oberon's Court, we're known as the Unseelies, and we know better than to help the mortals. We know what our true purpose is and where our loyalties lie, unlike the traitors who follow Titania. But of course, ever since Oberon joined the Order, things around here have had to change."
She showed imagery of the different Fae Courts, including Titania, a Fae woman with fair skin, rosy cheeks, red lips, medium-length wavy blonde hair, light blue eyes adorned with purple eyeshadow, and two white wings on her back. She wore a blue glittery dress with long translucent sleeves that had fabric hanging below, a long blue ribbon tied around the waist with a heart tied like a buckle, and a blue oval pendant placed in the cleavage.
"And now, to continue with our hist-" Meteora was cut off as she suddenly disappeared in front of her students.
"...Where did Ms. Meteora go?" asked one Fae student.
"Who cares, we got a free period out of it," another replied and the Fae students started to get out their tablets to either call each other, play games, or look at their texts.
"-ory lesson," Meteora finished before realizing that she was not in her classroom anymore, but instead the throne room of King Oberon. "My lord…" she said, bowing down to her king.
"Rise, Meteora," Oberon told her and she did. "You aren't busy with anything, are you?"
"No, sir," Meteora responded. "I am at your service."
"Good," Oberon said and a file floated into her hand. "Because I've got a task for you, one that involves discretion. The Order must not know."
Meteora opened the file and saw the pictures of Luz and Amity. "These two are…"
"L'Omino's killers," Oberon told her. "They must not be allowed to live…"
CH. 66: THE GLANDUS WAR: WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR
Sirens blared as Emperor Coven's carts surrounded Glandus. A squad of scouts marched into the school and spread out. Students that they found beaten up or knocked out were brought out to receive medical care, while the scouts raided the classrooms.
"Freeze!" a coven scout declared, leading a team to arrest a teacher in the potions classroom.
"Hey, I'm not doing anything wrong, man," the teacher responded, caught in the middle of forcing one student to drink illegal potions.
Teachers throughout the school were getting arrested, including Cooker who had been found in the cafeteria and was being dragged away in cuffs.
"No! I can't go back to jail again!" Cooker cried out.
Two other scouts checked the rest of the cafeteria, including the spot where Horace had been knocked out. But Horace was no longer there…
In the room where Asi had been, all the scouts could find were spilled items from a dropped bookshelf and blood stains.
Hunter spotted the scouts arresting the teachers while escorting the students out of the buildings. He then spotted the Latissa precinct captain guiding some students and he went up to up.
"Captain Dragonet, glad that you're here," Hunter spoke to the masked captain.
"Yeah, thanks for the tip," Captain Dragonet responded. "We will have the entire building cleared out before long, though we still need to locate the principal and Emily Tricks."
"What will happen to the rest of the students?" Hunter asked.
"Healers will tend to the wounded. Some of them may be kept for questioning, but the rest will be picked up by their parents. But we will need to finish emptying the school and searching it first," Dragonet explained.
Elsewhere in the school, several scouts spotted someone down the hall.
"FREEZE!" they shouted. "You're under arrest in the name of the Emperor-"
"I have no time for this," Meteora said, shown to be carrying Skara under her arm, the young girl tied up and muzzled. Meteora sent her shadow toward the coven scouts and it stabbed them through their masks.
"HMM!" Skara cried in shock, kicking and screaming which only made her bonds tighten.
"Quick struggling," Meteora scolded her. "Give me too much trouble and you'll share their fate." She then ran off with Skara, leaving the two dead scouts behind.
McScream was in a hurry, bringing out his mementos and placing them in a bag.
"Gotta hurry, can't get caught!" McScream muttered to himself, spotting scouts marching up the stairs toward the office in his crystal ball. "Crap!"
He exited his office, but then went back in to grab a trophy before he made a run for it. He ran toward a door and opened it only to find himself face to face with Athena, who stood there with her arms crossed.
McScream yelped. "M-M-Mrs. Hieron!" he cried out as he backed away from her. "Um… hey, look, if this is about your daughter, I'm sure that she's fine, really fine! And I had nothing to do with this, so there's no need to beat me up."
"It's not me you should be worried about," Athena pointed out.
"Then who-!?" McScream was then sucker punched by Ukla. She was followed up by Gavin knocking McScream back with an abomination hammer and Angmar wrapping him up with vines.
"You're getting what's coming to you, McScream," Ukla said, glaring at the principal.
"Please, no! You can't! I-I'll give you fame and fortune if you li-" But McScream's pleas were cut off once the three students started to beat him up. They pummeled his face until it was a pile of lumps, Athena and Tom passively watching the trio beat up their disgraced principal.
"So… what do we do about him?" Athena asked as they stared down at the defeated principal, who laid on the floor groaning weakly.
The Glandus trio exchanged looks and silently came to the same conclusion, grinning while looking back down at McScream.
"Please… have mercy…!" McScream begged while Athena shoved him into the Cannon of Shame.
"I thought there's no mercy in Glandus?" Gavin asked while Ukla tilted the cannon up.
"Alright, cannon's ready. Light her up!" Angmar told Tom, who snapped his fingers and lit the fuse for the cannon.
"No, please, you-you can't do this to me!" McScream cried out. "Do you know who I am?! I was a Titanwood heart-throb once! A Crampy Award winner, I-"
BOOM!
"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!" McScream… screamed as he was launched out from his own cannon and was sent across the Isles.
"Consider yourself expelled, McScream," Gavin said with a grin
Up on the roof, Amity continued to defend herself from the hypnotized Maya, summoning abomination shields while avoiding Maya's attacks. Maya kept ripping through the abomination shields while trying to get to her.
"Maya, wake up!" Amity begged. "It's me, Amity!"
"Quit running, Queen of Glandorks!" Maya said while abomination goo wrapped around her, and pinned her down to the floor.
"I'm sorry, but this is for your own good," Amity said to her, kneeling down while Maya struggled, Amity's shadow pinning her wings down so she wouldn't hurt Amity. "Not too rough," she told the shadow as she cupped Luz's face. "Luz, you have to wake up!"
In the mindscape, Luz heard a voice. "What…?"
"Luz, can you hear me!?" Amity's voice echoed and Luz saw a flashing red flame in the distance.
"Amity?" Luz asked, rushing towards the flame. "Wait, is the flame some kind of abstract thought of an exit-!?" She didn't finish as the flame rushed towards her.
"YOU!" the flames shouted, a claw emerging from them.
"GAH!" Luz cried out as she avoided the attack. She saw that the flames had taken the form of a crab monster and she changed into her cambion form. "What the hell are you!?" she shouted as the flame monster angrily attacked her. "Are you my inner self?!"
"You know exactly who I am!" the flaming creature told her.
"No I don't!" Luz pointed out as the flaming crab monster surrounded her with red fire.
"Maybe this will remind you," the monster said as it shrank down and took a more familiar form, causing Luz's eyes to widen. "Do you remember me now? The one you killed!?"
"Maya…" Luz said in shock. "Is it really-"
"You trapped me here when you broke me and devoured my soul!" Maya shouted as she floated in the void. "Do you have any idea what it is like here? How alone and helpless I felt? You did this to me! You deprived me of my life, my purpose! I don't even know what I am anymore!"
Luz's expression was wracked with guilt. "Maya… I'm sorry. I'm so, so, sorry."
"Sorry? You think you can just apologize your way out of this?!" Maya shouted
"No, I don't," Luz said solemnly. "I know that an apology won't make this better or undo what I did to you. I didn't mean it and I had no idea you were here this whole time, but you have a right to be angry with me."
"Yeah, no kidding," Maya scoffed.
"If I had the power to fix this, I would, but I can't change what I've done," Luz admitted. "You didn't deserve to die, Maya. And for what I did I don't deserve a Palisman of my own. And I don't want to fight you, Maya. I've hurt you enough, and I can't begin to imagine how awful of a fate it was to be trapped here. You didn't deserve that either."
Maya glared at Luz. "Yeah, that is something we can both agree on. And I think you'll get a pretty good idea of how awful it is to be trapped in this place when I leave you here to be a prisoner just like I was. Because I am in control now."
"That won't help you," Luz pointed out. "What happened to you was an accident and I had no idea that you were conscious in here the whole time! But I never meant to hurt you, I never meant to keep you here. That wasn't intentional. But you can't justify trapping me here, because that will be intentional. And it would be unfair to the people that care about me, people who would never be able to see me again. I get that you're angry, but trying to get back at me won't make anything right."
"Then what am I supposed to do!?" Maya questioned. "If I let you take control again, I'll be trapped in here again!"
"I don't want that!" Luz told her. "And I would have done something about it if I had known you were still alive in here sooner. But there has to be a way for us to work things out, like maybe we can come to some kind of arrangement or compromise."
Maya considered this. "...If I give your body back, do you promise to not suppress me in this void?" she asked.
"I promise," Luz said. "I will get you the help you need so we can figure this out together, but for now I am not going to force you to stay in this place and we can share my body," Luz said, extending her hand to Maya. "So… truce?"
Maya looked at Luz hesitantly before shaking her hand with her pincer. "Truce, we can settle this after we kick that Queen Illusionist's ass."
"Queen Illusionist?" Luz asked her.
"Guess I'll have to fill you in," Maya told her as the area around them started to glow brighter.
Luz gasped, opening her eyes as she shot up. One of her eyes was now hazel while the other was red. She looked around and saw her girlfriend. "Amity?"
"Luz? Is that… really you?" Amity asked cautiously.
"Well, who else could it be? Beth March?" Luz asked. This prompted Amity to hug her.
"Luz!" Amity cried out. "I… I didn't know if Maya would-"
"Yeah, she filled me in," Luz replied as Amity helped her up. "I found out that she lives rent-free in my head, so we came to an agreement. We are now co-owners of my body until we work out a better deal for both of us. I'm not sure how this works exactly, but we'll have to worry about the specifics later."
"So Maya is still there?" Amity asked curiously.
"Yeah, I'm still here," Luz said in Maya's voice, which slightly spooked Amity. "But where did that Glandus girl go?"
"Right, we need to stop Emily now or she'll never stop trying to hurt us and the people we care about," Luz said with a determined look. "She made that clear enough…"
"So let's take her down," Maya stated as she and Luz punched their palm with their fist.
"This is going to take some getting used to," Amity said to herself before turning toward the stairway that led down from the roof. "But I agree, this has to end now."
At Hexside, the battle had started to cool down.
"Just surrender now, there is no point in continuing to fight," Willow said as she was joined by Jerbo, Puffer in his tank, Snope, Barcus, Eileen, Felicia, and LOWTH. They had cornered several Glandus students.
"I-I think we should do as she says, guys-"
"No way!" one student shouted. "We're not close to being done! Maybe Glandus has lost the battle, but we'll win the war!"
"They've really committed to this," Crowbar stated.
"Yeah, what's the point in continuing to fight when you're outnumbered and your generals have been defeated?" Minos asked.
"Your generals and teachers have lost!" Snope stated. "No one else has to get hurt."
"We can't surrender!" the Glandus student declared and the group prepared to charge them.
"Stop!"
The Glandus students stopped when they saw a group of coven scouts and Abomatons heading toward them and the Hexsidians.
"The Emperor's Coven has ordered a ceasefire," Captain Wolffe declared. "Glandus is to surrender immediately!"
"The Emperor's Coven?!" Jerbo asked in shock.
"What are they doing here?" Willow asked.
Wonder Witch heard her scroll buzzing and she pulled it out. Once she had read her newest text message, her eyes widened and she started running away.
"Hey, where are you going?!" Florella asked as she saw Wonder Witch summoning her staff.
"I need to go!" Donna responded as she blasted through the window, flying toward Glandus as fast as possible.
Back at Glandus, the Emperor's Coven was still sweeping through the school, looking for Emily Tricks. Unknown to them, she managed to give them the slip by using an invisibility spell to hide herself and Stella from their sight.
"Come on," she whispered as Stella nervously followed her. "We are almost at the entrance of that secret passageway. Once we have made our escape, we'll head straight to Sonya and she can help us lie low for a while."
Stella didn't respond, Nina occupying her thoughts.
"Hey, are you listening?" Emily asks, turning to Stella.
"I-I-I am," Stella responded. "I was just… thinking about-"
"Nina?" Emily asked her. "Don't worry about her. She was gonna be put down anyway. It was her own fault. And after we're done here, we're going after Kadabe and Cain."
Stella's eyes widened. "W-Why?"
"Kadabe turned on us and Cain surrendered. One of my Top Juniors fucking surrendered!" Emily turned a corner and froze when she saw someone in her way. Emily looked shocked. "No…"
"Hi, Queenie!" Bria announced.
"Bria!?" Emily cried out, backing away. "How… how did you-!?"
"I hear from an unlikely source that you're an illusionist!" Bria pointed to her mockingly. "Like, wow, I can't believe that the queen we all feared is nothing but an illusionist who was faking the entire time!"
"Wow, what a cheater!" Gavin commented as he appeared behind Emily.
"How… Gavin!?" Emily backed away while Stella looked confused, Angmar and Ukla appearing next.
"I can't believe that I lost to her, an illusionist!" Ukla said in disgust.
"She's not really as impressive as we thought she was," Angmar commented while more Glandus students revealed themselves.
"What a load, she's nothing but a fake!" one declared.
"Yeah, like who'd want an illusionist as our leader?" another replied.
"She didn't earn shit!"
"What a faker!"
"Cheater, cheater, cheater!"
Soon the Glandus students surrounded Emily, all pointing and laughing at her.
"This is…" Emily paused, realizing what was going on. She slashed her sword at Bria, revealing that she was nothing but an illusion. "They're all illusions… this is that Porter brat's doing!" She started swiping at the illusions around her while calling out for Gus. "Where are you, Porter!? I know you're here!" She raised her hand in order to dispel the illusions, but more kept popping up to mock her.
"You're a bitch."
Emily paused and turned to Stella. "What did you say to me?"
"You're nothing but an abusive control freak who uses her trauma to justify treating everyone like garbage, including me!" Stella declared. "You felt powerless once, so now you want power over everyone and everything, crushing anyone that gets in your way. You've even deluded yourself into thinking your desire for revenge is just. You think you're righteous, Emily? Well, you're not!"
"How dare you!" Emily went towards her girlfriend. "I have given you everything! I am doing this for us!"
"You are only doing this for yourself," Stella said as Emily raised her hand and ran it across Stella's face… only to pass it by through her.
Emily blinked, realizing it was an illusion. "What…?!"
"An illusionist that fell for an illusion," Gus said as he made himself known, Luz and Amity with him as the illusions he had created started to disappear. Stella was shown to be crouching down in fear away from Emily.
"You!" Emily shouted when she saw Luz.
"It's over, Emily, you lost this war," Luz declared.
Emily glared at them and reached for her Palisman, but found it missing. "What?! Baum, where-!?" She noticed her Palisman flying away from her. "Baum, come back here, right now!" she demanded, but the winged monkey Palisman turned to her, flipped her off, and continued to fly off. "I said come back!"
"They're not coming back for you after you threatened them," Maya's voice said as Luz walked toward Emily. "You're not fit for a Palisman anymore, which makes me wonder who you'll threaten this time when I'm winning."
Emily glared at her. "Like I need a Palisman to beat you!"
It was then Luz's turn to speak. "You know, I feel sorry for you, Tricks. I really do. But that doesn't stop me from recognizing how much of a complete $%^# you are towards everyone around you, including your own girlfriend. And the saddest part is that you're a genuinely gifted illusionist and you could've used your gifts to make this school to rethink their opinions on illusionists and inspire other illusionists to unlock their full potential like you did. But instead, you reinforced the prejudice toward your own track while hiding your gifts, using them only to pursue your selfish and petty agenda."
"Petty!?" Emily shouted as she summoned her flames. "You and your little friends have ruined my chances to get into the Emperor's Coven! I would have impressed the Emperor himself with my talents!"
"The image you built for yourself is on a foundation of lies and deceit," Amity pointed out. "And something built on lies never lasts. You wouldn't have stood a chance in the Emperor's Coven."
"Especially if they ever learned about your connections to the Tarot Guild!" Gus added, causing Emily to look irate.
"Maybe I am finished, but at least I won't be dead!" Emily drew her sword and charged towards them with sheer anger on her mind. However, her sword was blocked by Luz's sharp wings, preventing her from attacking.
"Why don't you just grow up?" Luz asked, punching Emily away. "Seriously, you're older than us, yet we've grown more mature than you."
"SHUT UP!" Emily shouted as she drew spell circles, causing illusions of herself to pop up and charge at the three.
"Like that's gonna-" Luz didn't finish her sentence as she was punched by an Emily illusion, shocking her, Amity, and Gus. "What the hell!?" she asked while feeling a kick to the side from another Emily duplicate, making her grunt.
"Wait, how is she doing this!?" Amity asked in shock.
"I don't know, illusions never go solid," Gus said, seeing Emily clones coming toward them. Luckily, Amity created an abomination wall to prevent them from going through. One managed to get around it, but Amity formed an abomination boxing glove to punch it while Gus created duplicates of himself and Amity. "Fight fire with fire!" he declared while making Luz duplicates to fight against the Emily army.
Luz saw duplicates of herself joining the fight against the Emily clones, leaving her free to look for the real Emily. "Come on, Tricksy, show yourself!" she declared before she noticed Stella having her hair strings connected to the ground.
'Why's her hair in the ground?' Luz thought as she drew a spell circle. This created a bright flash of light that caused some of Emily's and Luz's clones to disappear. However, Emily's clones turned out to be stone-puppets. "Guys! I just figured it out! Stella is a puppeteer! You have to stop her!"
"That explains it!" Amity responded with a nod, running towards Stella. An Emily clone got in her way, but Luz swooped in and kicked the clone away. Amity then directed some abomination goo at Stella, pinning her to the wall. "Why do you continue to help her? This is your chance to break free from her!"
"I…" Stella's tone was hesitant as she struggled against the abomination gunk.
"Get away from her!" Emily shouted while charging at Amity, drawing her sword in an attempt to slash at her. But then she was kicked in the side by Luz, causing Emily to crash to the wall. Luz tried to throw a punch at Emily, which she dodged. She created illusion duplicates to keep Luz busy, but the cambion girl easily slashed through them with her wings.
Luz brought out an ice glyph and slammed it down on the floor, causing ice to spring out towards Emily, who slashed through the ice pillar with her sword. When Emily saw Luz flying towards her, she tried to hit Luz in the eyes with her flames, but that trick wasn't going to work on Maya twice. She blocked the flames with her wings and picked up an ice fragment that was on the ground, slapping a light glyph on it and throwing it at Emily. It went off like a flash grenade, temporarily blinding Emily who swung her sword randomly around in an attempt to hit Luz. However, Luz easily avoided the attack and punched Emily across the face, launching her across the floor. This caused Emily to drop her sword.
As Emily got up, she spit out a tooth. "Shit!" she cursed. She saw her sword and reached out for it, but Luz kicked it away from her. Luz was now towering over Emily as she grabbed her by the collar.
"You really are pathetic," Maya said while punching Emily square in the jaw.
"AAH!" Emily screamed as she fell back. She glared at Luz and rushed towards her, only for Luz and Maya to kick her in the stomach.
"I bet that fight at the Slayground wasn't even legit," Luz said while bringing her hands together, swinging them to knock Emily across the side of her face, making her spat out blood.
"It… it was!" Emily claimed
"Betcha the oath was an illusion!" Luz mocked while Emily charged again. Luz ducked as she delivered another punch to Emily's side and elbowed her knee causing Emily to fall. "You're just a fake-ass, you know that? Nothing but a poser! A wannabe!"
"DON'T YOU EVER SHUT UP!?" Emily got back up again and grabbed Luz by the shoulders near her neck, but Luz held her arms to prevent her from choking her.
Luz grunted, but smiled. "You had your chance, Tricks. But in the end…" She kneed and kicked Emily off of her. Luz/Maya then grabbed Emily by the collar again and slammed her on the ground hard. "It wasn't enough," Maya finished. Emily got up and tried to punch Luz again, but Maya grabbed her arm and twisted it hard enough to break it.
"AAAAAAAAAAAHHH!" Emily screamed in pain before her face was forced to meet with Maya's knee, causing her to fall back. Her nose was swollen and bleeding as she glared at Luz while holding her broken arm. Before she could get up again, Luz and Maya delivered their boot to her face, kicking her hard enough to send Maya sliding across the floor and into the lockers.
'No…' Emily thought to herself. 'How could I lose to the likes of her!? I'm the Queen of Glandus! I…' She started to pass out. 'This was not supposed to… end like this…'
Emily didn't move, nor could she. Luz flew up to her and checked to see if she was alive. After getting a confirmation, she raised her head and fists up while giving. a victorious shout "YEEAAAAAHHH!" she and Maya declared while Gus and Amity rushed over.
"You did it, Luz!" Amity cheered, hugging her girlfriend.
"No, we did it," Luz responded, hugging both Gus and Amity.
"I don't believe this," Stella said in shock, looking at Emily's fallen form. "She… she lost…" Tears started to fall from her eyes.
However, any celebration from the Hexside trio was cut short by the sound of slow clapping. They turned to see Meteora walking towards them, a tied up and muzzled Skara hanging from her shoulders.. "Well done, defeating the Queen of Glandus."
"You… you're that crazy teacher and… Skara!" Amity exclaimed, recognizing the woman and then spotting Skara.
"Let Skara go, lady!" Luz demanded. "The war's over, so you should give up and surrender!"
Meteora stiffened a laugh. "The war? Oh, that means nothing to me. I am only interested in eliminating you two."
"Eliminate us?" Luz questioned as Meteora's shadow loomed behind them.
'Behind you!' said a voice in Amity's head, causing her to turn around and shout to Luz.
"LUZ, BEHIND YOU!"
Luz turned around to see Meteora's shadow going in for the kill. Luz, Amity, and Gus dodged the attack, causing the shadow to adopt a more beastly form that roared at them.
Luz in her cambion form grabbed Amity and Gus as she flew away from the shadowy beast. The shadow followed Luz, slashing at her wings. Amity used her abomination glove to form a fire glyph, shooting at the shadow with flames that it dodged.
"What did you do to piss her off!?" Maya asked.
"I don't know!" Luz responded while dodging a black spike from the shadow. She landed, putting down Amity and Gus, the latter spotting Meteora with Skara and using his illusions to turn invisible.
"Got any combo glyphs with you?" Amity asked Luz.
"Not any that would defeat tall, dark and spooky," Luz replied as they dodged another black spike.
"Then how about we make a combo ourselves?" Amity asked, which Luz picked up on.
"Let's shed some light!" Luz declared as she cast a light spell while Amity cast a fire spell, combining the two which created a blast of light and flame that injured the shadow.
"AAAIIIEEEE!" it screamed as it dispersed from the light and flame combo.
Luz and Amity then turned to Meteora and went after her. However, Meteora jumped into the air out of their way while carrying Skara on her shoulder. Meteora shot out flames towards the two, who dodged the attack. Amity attempted to use her abomi-web to snag Skara, but Meteora blocked it with her hand, which had grown larger, and pulled it off of her.
"You two are centuries behind me," Meteora said coolly, giving a grin while holding Skara by her collar. "Stop!" she shouted at them, causing them to halt as she floated back down. "If you value her life, you do as I say. Your lives for hers."
Luz and Amity didn't know what to do as they saw Meteora threaten Skara with her claws while Skara frantically shook her head at them.
"ROOOAARR!"
The four were shocked by a loud roar and they turned to see a large, long-necked monster coming towards them. Jaws dropped.
It was a giraffe.
"What's a giraffe doing here!?" Amity cried out in shock.
"I thought you people banished those things!" Meteora exclaimed.
The giraffe gave a derp face, before spitting out a swarm of bees that flew towards Meteora. This caused Meteora to drop Skara as she shielded herself from the swarm as it… flew straight through her. Meteora realized that she hadn't felt a thing before noticing that Skara was gone, along with the giraffe. "What the… where did she-!?" She saw that Skara had been helped up by Gus and they were now running away from the battle "My hostage!" she cried out before Luz kicked her in the face.
Once Gus had taken Skara to safety, he helped her out of her bonds and muzzle. "Are you alright?" he asked her.
"Yeah, thanks for the save," Skara responded.
Back in the battle, Luz and Amity were charging towards Meteora. Amity formed an abomi-bat to slam against her, which Meteora blocked with her much larger and beastly hand. She then swiped at them, making them dodge her attack. "I shouldn't have let that teenager try to do my job for me," Meteora proclaimed.
Luz extended her claws and took a swipe at Meteora, who teleported away. "Huh?" she wondered out loud before Meteora reappeared behind her and kicked Luz in the pack with her heels. "AAH!"
"Luz!" Amity cried out, only for Meteora to teleport in front of her and grab Amity by the collar. Meteora gave a wicked smile and threw Amity to the floor next to Luz.
Luz winced as her healing factor kicked in and she turned to Amity. "Ams… you saw her teleport, right?"
"Yeah…" Amity groaned as she got up. "I think… she may be… a Fae."
"So much for Belo's Fae prevention," Luz sarcastically said before she saw Meteora behind Amity. "Amity behind you!"
Amity turned around and swung her bat at Meteora, but she was already gone. "Shit," she cursed, immediately going to help Luz up, only to feel a kick to the stomach as Meteora suddenly reappeared and kicked her away from Luz.
"Amity!" Luz shouted before Meteroa grabbed her by the neck. She then flew towards Amity while carrying Luz, grabbing her as well. She slammed them both against the wall, holding them there.
"Why… are you doing this?" Amity asked her.
"What did we do to piss you off?" Luz demanded to know.
"This isn't personal, girls," Meteora told them. "You haven't done anything to me, but my Lord Oberon's pride was hurt when the Coachman was defeated by two mortal teenagers. The Coachman may have non longer been a member of my Lord's Court, but he was still a Child of Oberon and you made my Lord look weak, something he does not take lightly."
"Why is it that petty people keep trying to get us-ACK!" Luz felt the grip on her throat tighten.
"Maybe after I burn you two alive, I'll bring your teeth back to my Lord as proof of your demise," Meteora said as her hands started to steam…
ZAP!
"AAAAH!" Meteora cried out, letting Luz and Amity go. The two ran for safety as Meteora winced in pain from the blast. She turned around and saw that the one who had attacked her was Captain Dragonet, who was accompanied by a group of coven scouts.
"Take her out! She's dangerous!" Dragonet declared as his coven scouts cast their spells and fired them at Meteora, while Luz and Amity managed to get out of the way.
Hiding behind the coven scouts were Gus and Skara, who had led them here. Luz and Amity began heading towards their friends while the coven scouts continued to blast Meteora.
"You two alright?" Skara asked them.
"Yeah, for once I'm glad to see members of the Emperor's Coven!" Luz declared.
"Keep blasting her!" Dragonet ordered while the scouts kept firing at her with spells, some even shooting at her with crossbows.
Meteora tried to stand up but she kept getting blasted and shot at, making her crash through the wall. She became shrouded by smoke and dust as she was pummeled by arrows and spells.
"Hold your fire!" Dragonet ordered, his eyes narrowing behind his mask. Once the dust had settled and the smoke had cleared, they saw her motionless body laying on the ground. "I think we did it."
"Is it over?" Gus asked.
"I think so," Skara replied, while noticing Luz and Amity staring at Meteora's motionless body. "Guys?"
"...Amity, do you remember when Puck and the Coachman died?" Luz asked
"They turned to dust after being stabbed by iron," Amity replied, the two slowly backing away.
"I don't think she's…" Luz didn't get to finish as Meteora's eyes opened up. "FUCK, SHE'S STILL ALIVE!"
Meteora rose up, getting the attention of the coven scouts. They prepared to blast her again. "Freeze!" But she didn't. Instead, her eyes blinked and became more reptilian.
She started to grow larger and change shape, causing the coven scouts to back away. Dragonet froze in horror. "By the Titan…"
"Now you've pissed me off," Meteroa declared as she changed into a large, magenta dragon with stripes all over her body, two black horns, black spikes on her back, and a pale pink underbelly. Her hindlegs were more fury than the rest of her scaly body, her slim tail having fur at the tip. As she grew she crashed through the walls and roof of the school, causing it to collapse.
"Watch out!" Luz grabbed Amity, Gus and Skara out of the way as debris fell around them, the scouts and Dragonet attempting to flee.
"Was that a Titanquake?!" one scout asked another in another part of the school.
"I don't know, but maybe we should-" Suddenly the scout was crushed by a part of the wall, causing the other scout to scream. She attempted to run, but was crushed by falling debris.
"Get everyone out of here!" Hunter ordered as the scouts helped the students and teachers out of the school. He saw the roof starting to crumble.
Athena managed to punch the debris that threatened to hit the kids, turning the debris into dust. Tom had found them an exit.
"This way!" Tom said as Angmar, Gavin, and Ukla ran out, Ukla and Gavin using their Construction magic and Abomination to shield them from debris while Athena continued to protect them by punching the falling rubble.
Elsewhere, Nina laid in a pool of her own blood. She thought back to her last conversation with Donna. What was it she had said to her?
'Maybe it's not ideal for you, but not all of us have well off parents who can send you to some fancy private school. Things work differently at Glandus and I think it changed me for the better, while this place has made you soft and spoiled.'
Nina regretted that conversation being her last one with Donna. She regretted many things, really. She had sent Donna a text with what she thought were her final moments, but she didn't know if Donna had read it yet. Even if she had, Nina knew it was too late for her.
'This is alright,' Nina thought as she saw a part of the ceiling ready to fall on her. 'I can accept this… born a werecat, die a warrior.' Tears leaked from her eyes as she shut them and formed a smile. 'This is what I deserve… a warrior's death…'
The debris finally fell and was about to crush Nina… only for the werecat to be quickly pulled out of the way. She was lifted into the arms of Donna, who Nina was surprised to see there.
"Donna?" Nina asked weakly.
"Hang on, Nina!" Donna declared while flying on her staff. "I'm going to get you help!"
Years ago…
In Crane's Home for Unwanted Witchlings and Demons, an eight year old Donna laid back in her bed with a sigh, looking at the key as she turned it in her hands. She could hear shouting coming from elsewhere in the orphanage, causing the young orphan to groan and place her pillow over her head in an attempt to block out the noise.
"Shut up, shut up, shut up," she whispered with her eyes shut.
When she felt someone tapping on the pillow, Donna opened her eyes and sat up, taking the pillow off of her head. To her surprise, Donna saw the eight year old Nina Fangs balanced on her bed frame, the window to the room having been opened by the werecat.
"Nina?!" Donna exclaimed in surprise, having never expected to see Nina again after she was taken back home by Eberwolf not too long ago.
"Hey, Donna…" Nina said with a playful smile.
"What are you doing here?" Donna asked, glancing at the opened window. "Did you run away again?"
"Nah, not this time," Nina said, sitting down on the bed next to Donna. "I just wanted to see you again, since I thought we really hit it off during my last visit." She noticed the key in Donna's hands. "What's that?"
"Oh, it's just some old key I found," Donna said, looking down at the key. "Or maybe it would be more accurate to say that it found me. I've discovered that it helps me to channel my magic, acting as a conduit when I cast spells. It can also unlock any lock."
As Nina stared at the key in awe. "Any lock, huh? Imagine the trouble we could get into with a tool like that…"
Donna quickly stuffed the key in her pocket. "I, uh, would rather not abuse its power like that."
"Party pooper," Nina pouted before her ears went up as she overheard the shouting resume elsewhere in the orphanage. "What's going on?"
"Nothing new," Donna admitted as she got up from her bed. "The administrator isn't happy about our performances at practice earlier today."
"So her response is to yell at a bunch of kids who are already orphans?" Nina asked, her fur standing up slightly in irritation. "Bitch."
Donna thought about scolding Nina for using such language, but instead she just nodded. "Yeah, she is a bitch…"
Nina leapt up from the bed. "You know what? How about we ditch this place and go have some fun?"
"Sneak out?" Donna asked in surprise. "I don't want to be caught breaking the rules…"
"Screw the rules," Nina said, going over to the window and offering Donna her hand. "Come on, princess. Live a little. Remember when you broke the rules to come see me? You didn't regret that, did you?"
Donna shook her head. "No, I didn't."
Nina smiled. "Then I don't think you'll regret breaking them again so we can hang out some more," she pointed out.
Donna thought about it before she nodded and reached out to take Nina's hand. "Okay," she said. "I trust you."
This caught Nina by surprise, a bit of blush appearing on her cheeks. But she quickly shook it off. "Uh, thanks," she said, turning toward the window. "Now let's blow. This place is bumming me out."
The skies of Bonesborough were filled with dark clouds, forcing the nine year old Donna and Nina to take shelter underneath an archway from the boiling rain.
"I knew we shouldn't have been out so late!" Donna complained. "Now the staff will definitely notice that I'm gone!"
"Well, the only thing we can do now is wait out the rainstorm," Nina said as she sat down. "Besides, Amber and Derwin will cover for you, right?"
"Yeah, hopefully," Donna said while sitting beside Nina. "I would have still rather not risked it though. I would hate it if I was prevented from seeing you again."
Nina looked down at the ground. "Yeah, I would hate that too," she admitted, falling silent for a moment. "I'm… sorry that I got us caught in this rainstorm. I did want to have you back before the storm hit."
"I know," Donna acknowledged, looking at her friend. "And you don't have to apologize, Nina. I lost track of the time as well."
Nina nodded and the two sat in silence together, a healthy distance between them.
"I wonder how long this rain will last," Donna said out loud.
"Mhhm," Nina hummed in agreement.
As they continued to wait for the rain to end, Donna scooted a little closer to Nina, whose ears went up at the sound of the subtle movement. The werecat looked over at Donna questioningly.
"What?" Donna asked. "I just thought that we didn't have to sit so far apart. You know you can trust me, Nina. I trust you."
"Of course I trust you," Nina told her.
"Then… would you mind if I petted you?" Donna asked hesitantly. "I always wanted to, but I didn't know if I was allowed to ask or not."
This took Nina by surprise and she wasn't sure what to say at first. "Uh… sure," she settled on.
Donna slowly reached for Nina's head and started to pet her gently behind the ears. Nina cringed slightly at Donna's initial touch, but quickly got used to it and started leaning into her hand. Donna smiled and continued to pet Nina until she heard her young friend starting to purr.
"Oh my Titan," Donna said softly. "Nina… you're so cute."
"I am not!" Nina objected, her face turning red. "But please… don't stop."
Donna was a little taken aback by Nina's reaction, but she continued to pet the purring Nina. The werecat's face went from flustered to relaxed as she closed her eyes and moved herself closer to Donna, secretly wishing that the rainstorm wouldn't end anytime soon…
A twelve year old Donna and Nina sat on the roof of Crane's Home for Unwanted Witchlings and Demons, watching the sunset. But while Nina was trying to enjoy the sunset, there was something on Donna's mind.
"Nina," Donna said, causing Nina to turn her head to look at her. "We need to talk."
"About what?" Nina asked, a bit worried about Donna's tone.
"Something happened earlier today," Donna explained. "I was asked to meet with this really nice couple and I got along very well with them. Their names are Diana and Gladys. During our meeting they said that they were… interested in adopting me."
"Really?" Nina asked in surprise. "I mean, that's great, isn't it?"
"I guess," Donna said, hugging her knees tightly to her body. "But it's also like a really big change and I don't know if I'm ready to leave this place."
Nina, recognizing Donna's insecurity, put her arm around her friend's back in order to comfort her. "Come on, Donna. This place sucks. Be happy that you're leaving. I bet your new parents would even let you practice healing magic instead of bard magic."
Donna sniffed. "Yeah," she agreed. "Honestly, I think a part of me is still hoping that my birth parents or whoever left me on the Home's front steps would one day return to take me back. I like to believe that they're still out there, even if I have no reason to."
Nina leaned her head on Donna's shoulder. "And you're also scared, aren't you? This place and these people, they're familiar to you. But this new couple and their home? That's uncharted territory, even though you want to hope for the best. Am I right?"
Donna nodded. "Y-yes," she said.
"Well, look at it this way, princess," Nina told her. "This is an opportunity that you can't pass up on. You don't know anything about the people you left you here. But you know that this couple is nice, right? And they'll probably let you learn the magic you want to learn, right? Sure, you have to say goodbye to all the kids here. But you'll probably get the chance to meet many new kids that I'm sure you'll quickly befriend because of how irresistible you are."
Donna wiped away a few tears and smiled. "So you're not… mad at all that I'll be leaving?"
"I mean, I'm sure that I'll still be able to find you," Nina pointed out. "Plus if your new parents turn out to be awful, I could just kidnap you and we'd run away together."
"You'd really do that for me?" Donna asked with a giggle and a slight blush on her cheeks.
"Princess, I'd do anything for you," Nina confessed. For a moment, she considered telling Donna something. But she decided against it. "Just… promise me something, okay? Promise me that even if you end up making new friends, we'll still be friends. That you won't forget me."
"Duh," Donna answered. "You're my best friend, Nina. That's not going to change."
"Do you promise?" Nina asked seriously, surprising Donna.
"O-of course," Donna told her. "It doesn't matter what they do to us. I'll look out for you and you'll look out for me. Nothing really bad can happen as long as we have each other. I promise."
Nina seemed satisfied by this and she wrapped her arms around Donna, hugging her. "I'm so happy for you," she whispered.
"Thank you," Donna said as she hugged back, the sun setting behind them…
Nina: Hey, Donna… I don't know how much time I have. I messed up. Even if I survive this, the Emperor's Coven will kill me. So I just wanted to tell you that I'm sorry and that… I love you.
Stella had managed to free herself in the chaos and saw that Emily was still unconscious. For a moment, she considered leaving Emily there to be buried. But then she changed her mind and went back for her.
"Hang on, Emily!" Stella shouted as she tried to drag Emily to safety while avoiding the debris falling around them. Realizing they wouldn't get out in time, Stella used her magic to shield her and Emily in a large stone dome.
The school's tower fell as Meteora's dragon form emerged from Glandus, much to the shock of those who had managed to get out in time. Donna had flown out carrying Nina in her arms while Hunter led everyone to safety and Athena had gotten out with the kids in time.
From the rubble, Luz in her cambion form emerged. It was difficult for her to see because of all the smoke and dust.
"Amity!" Luz called out. "Gus! Skara!"
"Luz!" Amity's hand waved from beneath some rubble. Wasting no time, Luz flew over and managed to pull the debris off of her and pick her up
"Hey, are you alright?" Luz asked, seeing Amity's head bleeding from a cut.
"I… I think I'm good," Amity responded while Luz set her down. "Where's Gus and Skara?"
"I… I don't know!" Luz panicked and the two started shouting for their friends. "GUS! SKARA!" They heard groaning, but it was not coming from Gus or Skara. It was Captain Dragonet.
"Help… me…" Dragonet groaned while crawling towards them.
But before they could help him, a large foot stepped on him, crushing him. Luz and Amity backed away and as the smoke cleared they saw the dragon Meteora towering over them, glaring down at them.
"ENOUGH!" Meteora declared, smoke billowing from her mouth. "Screw discretion, time to finish this once and for all!" She then breathed flames toward the two.
Luz and Amity embraced each other and closed their eyes, prepared for the worst. But then someone stepped in front of them, holding Rocky and playing him, his magic managing to deflect the flames before it reached them.
Meteora paused when she saw that her flames had been deflected and she recognized the being who had dared get between her and her targets. "Sly!?" she exclaimed.
"Hey teach, leave those girls alone, will you?" Sly, the Pied Piper, asked her.
"What are you doing here, getting involved in my mission? This is none of your business!" Meteora declared.
"You shouldn't be here either, 'Ms. Heinous'," Sly pointed out. "Though I should have expected as much from Oberon's lackey, it makes sense he would send you to do his dirty work."
"Shut up! Unlike you, I'm loyal!"
"Loyal to an overgrown man-child who couldn't let this go?" Sly asked. "Does the Coachman's death really require such a response?"
Angered, Meteora raises her claws to slash at Sly. However, he strummed Rocky which sent a magical sound wave that pushed her away from him. He then turned to Luz and threw Rocky to her.
"Rocky?" Luz asked in shock. "Who is this guy?"
"Don't worry, he's a friend," Rocky said.
"Sly…" Luz said, the name familiar to her. As she remembered where she had heard it before, her eyes widened.
"Hey," Sly spoke to Luz. "You know how to play Electric Light Orchestra? Cause we're gonna need the power of rock to take her down!"
Luz knew what he was saying and it seems like he was here to help fight off Meteora. But could she really trust him after what she had heard about the infamous Pied Piper? When she saw Meteora getting back up, she decided to take the risk.
"Fine, but we're gonna have to talk later," Luz said while turning to Amity, giving her a nod before she went to look for their friends. "Maya, do you mind if I take the lead?"
"Be my guest," Maya answered.
Sly got out his own guitar and started playing along with Luz while Meteora rose up. Glaring at the two, she charged at them while the magic of the music started to spread.
"You got me running, going out of my mind!" Luz sang.
"You got me thinking that I'm wasting my time!" Sly sang.
"Don't bring me down!" they both sang together. "No, no, no, no, no! Ooh-ooh-hoo!" They strummed, creating a shockwave that hit the dragon, causing her to back off. "I'll tell you once more before I get off the floor, don't bring me down!" They rifted as the debris around them rose and flew into Meteora.
Meanwhile, Amity was using her abomination goop to move the rubble. She saw one injured student beneath the rubble and she went to help him out.
Luz: "You want to come and try to kill my friends!"
Sly: "I'm telling you, it's got to be the end!"
"Don't bring me down! No, no, no, no, no, Ooh-ooh-hoo!" they repeated the verse while flying up in the air as they strummed their guitar, bathing the area with color. Blue sparks flew from their instruments and took the form of beasts. Luz's was a giant lion snake that bit Meteora while Sly's was a large rat with wings that bit her in the neck.
"AAAAH!" Meteora screamed as she felt the electric shock surging through her body.
"I'll tell you once more, before I get off the floor, don't bring me down!" Luz and Sly sang together while surrounding themselves in psychedelic colors.
"Don't bring me down, groos!" Luz strummed as she constructed a lightning bolt that hit Meteora.
"Don't bring me down, groos!" Sly hits Meteora in the snout with debris.
"Don't bring me down, groos!" Luz unleashed a large blue electric spike ball that hit Meteora in the stomach, causing her to puff out smoke from her mouth.
Meteora decided to fight back and she shot her flames down at them. But Sly blocked it with a force field while he sang. "Don't bring me DOWN!" He unleashed sharp musical notes that hit her in the back.
Amity continued to search the rubble, helping out the scouts, students, and staff members that she found. While looking for Gus and Skara, she found something sticking out of the debris: the hilt of a sword. She wonders if it belonged to a coven scout who was buried there. But as she got closer, she realized it was Emily's. She looked into the emerald eye of the sword and heard something… it sounded like whispering.
'Is it… calling to me?' she thought while reaching out for the sword. Once she touched it, she was bathed in a flash of purple light.
Purple slime engulfed Amity as the emerald eye glows brighter. "What… what's happening!?" she asked while a large Abomination head rose up around her and merged with her.
The purple abomination goo formed around Amity's body and turned into a solid suit of armor. Her head was covered in a purple helmet with large round lenses that glowed pink, above it was a butterfly emblem with its wings spread out to each side of the helmet. A silver mouthguard with fangs was on the lower part of the helmet. The rest of the armor included a pink neck collar, a magenta-colored chest plate with a large green eye at the center, shoulder pads, pink sleeves with purple gauntlets that had sharp claws, and purple boots. The iron sword she held grew larger than before.
"Whoa," Amity said in shock. "I look… weird, yet… it feels… right!"
Sly continued to strum his own guitar, shooting a wave of colors at the dragon and hitting her.
"Enough!" Meteora shouted as she got up and used her wings to fly up into the air, creating a gust of wind that blew her opponents back.
"Titan's crack!" Luz cursed as she crashed into the ground. She got up and noticed Amity's armored form.
"Hey Luz, like my new look?" Amity asked, waving to her.
"Amity!?" Luz recognized. "What… what's with the armor?"
"I don't know, I grabbed Emily's sword and, well, I think it merged with me." Amity replied, holding the Sword of Adam. "You thinking what I'm thinking?"
Luz nodded and flew back in the air, rejoining Sly who was taking on Meteora. "Hey, dragon lady! Are you into thrash metal?"
"What?" Meteora questioned.
"You know, you look like the kind of lady who'd be into that kind of stuff. My recommendations? Metallica, Anthrax, Kreator, and oh, one of my favorites…" She strummed Rocky, sending out a bolt of electricity at Meteora. "SLAYER!" The bolt struck Meteora's eyes.
"AAAAAAAAAHHH! MY EYES!" Meteora cried out before she felt herself getting pinned down by musical sheets coming from Sly's guitar. Luz sent out more attacks against Meteora, sending her back to the ground.
Amity saw the dragon on the ground and she raised her sword. "Alright, I got this," she said as she took a deep breath. She sprinted forward towards the dragon, sword in hand. Meteora tried to get back up, but her wings were pinned to the ground by Luz and Sly's guitars summoning large hands.
Amity jumped up, her boots propelling her into the air. Meteroa's eyes widened when she felt the sword bury itself deep into her heart.
"RAAAAAWWRRRR!" Meteora roared in pain while Amity slid down, cutting her underbelly open.
As Amity, Luz, and Sly landed back on the ground, Meteora started to disintegrate. Her body evaporated into dust and was blown away, leaving nothing left.
"Is it… over?" Amity asked.
"Yeah," Luz responded while turning to Sly. "As for you-" She saw that nobody was there. "And he's gone."
"Who was that?" Amity questioned.
"I think I know who it was, but right now we need to find-" Luz didn't finish as she heard something coming out from the rubble. The two turned and saw a furry creature digging itself free.
It was Skara in her werewolf form. She held Gus protectively as she emerged from the rubble, Luz and Amity rushing towards them.
"Skara, how is he?" Luz asked her.
"He's going to be okay," Skara responded while setting Gus back to his feet.
"Yeah, I'm good," Gus said, rubbing his head. "Thanks Skara, you're a lifesaver."
"No problem," Skara replied as she changed back to her normal form.
"Wait, what about Boscha?" Amity asked. "Is she-?"
"Don't worry, she's going to be okay," Skara reassured her. "She was wounded, but Viney took her to someone named Dr. Bride."
Amity sighed in relief while Luz looked around at the ruins of Glandus High. "Come on, let's get out of this No Witch's Land."
The four walked out of the rubble of the school and found coven scouts tending to the wounded students and scouts while the remaining teaching staff were placed in cuffs. The students quickly noticed Luz.
"It's her…" one spoke.
"She destroyed our school!"
"We lost the war because of Clawthorne!"
"Get her!" the angered Glandus students stormed away from the scouts despite their protests, coming towards Luz.
The cambion girl wasn't having it. "Oh great. Ams, um, the sword?" she asked and Amity handed the sword to her. Luz raised it up in front of the Glandus students. "Alright, stop right there!" she told them, causing them to stop. "See this sword? Didn't this belong to the so-called Queen of Glandus? Where's your Queen now, huh? I'll tell you where she is, laying defeated by our hands!"
"What? That's impossible! Nobody can defeat Queen Emily!" one declared.
"Well I did," Luz answered. "And I didn't tear down your little school. It was one of your damn teachers who was trying to kill me and my girlfriend! But we wouldn't be here in the first place if Emily hadn't had one of our friends kidnapped! And last I remember, it was Glandus that started this dumb war in the first place, so y'all brought this upon yourselves! And for what? Because of a previous war that happened long before any of us were born? Get the fuck over yourselves! Cause when you grow up to join a coven, you'll be working alongside the witches that you fought against and this war wouldn't even matter! But if you are looking for someone to blame, Emily Tricks was the one that caused this mess in the first place."
After getting no response, she handed the sword back to Amity. "Thanks."
"No problem, Luz," Amity responded.
"Oh come on, I was hoping for a fight," Maya spoke.
"I think we had enough fighting for the day," Luz said to her.
Skara then noticed Nina being carried on a stretcher and the stab wound in her stomach. This shocked Skara and she feared the worst as she overheard a costumed girl talking to a scout.
"Please, I have to be with her, I know healing-" Donna was halted by a scout.
"Stand back, she's still dangerous," the scout said.
"Dangerous? Did you not see the stab wound she has!?" Donna pointed out.
"Look, she's going to be taken into the Beast-Keeping Coven for treatment. After that, it is up to the Beast-Keeping Head to decide what to do with her," the scout said, making Donna look worried.
As Skara heard this, she made a mental note to call her mother. She then spotted Athena with the Glandus kids. "Hey, one of Boscha's moms is here. I'm going to go over there to let her know what happened to her daughter."
"Alright, we'll catch up after we find Stella and Emily," Luz replied.
"Right, there's no way they could have gotten far," Gus said before they heard a shriek.
"Where is it!?"
They all turned and saw a recovered Emily looking for the sword.
"Emily, let's go!" Stella said, only to be shoved aside.
"You lost my sword, now I need to-" Emily spotted Amity holding the Sword of Adam. "YOU!" She tried to charge forward, only to get restrained by magic rope from the coven guards. "Let me go!"
"Emily Tricks, you are here by under arrest for criminal activity and attempted murder," the guard states while a scout cuffed Emily.
"You will come with us to the Conformatorium," the scout said, shocking Emily.
"What!? You can't do this to me! Don't you know who I am!?" Emily cried out, causing a hissy fit as she was dragged away. She glared at Luz, who stuck her tongue at her. "This isn't over, Luz Clawthorne! I will get you, your family, your friends, and that little Porter brat too! You will all pay!" she shouted as she was thrown into the coven wagon.
"As for you, you have to come with us as well," the scout told Stella, who looked down.
"Of course, but please go easy on Emily," Stella said, much to Gus's shock.
"What?!" Gus exclaimed, going up to confront Stella. "Why are you defending her? She struck you! Why would you continue to defend her after what she did to you and everyone else?!"
Stella looked uneasy while the scout cuffed her. "You don't understand… I may be afraid of her, but I also still love her. Emily… has been through a lot. It is not her fault that she hits me…"
"Alright, off you go," the scout said as he escorted her to the coven wagon, which she stepped into. "You know, I think I may have heard your name… wasn't your name Glinda Stella Northstar?"
Stella didn't look at the scout. "I don't use my first name much," she said as the coven wagon door was shut.
Gus looked concerned for Stella. "I don't understand, how can she still defend her after what Emily did?"
Luz sighed and patted Gus's shoulder. "She's trapped, Gus. After being in a relationship with Emily for so long, it's going to take a while to break her out of it."
"Then, she's going to get help, right?" Gus asked while Luz and Amity looked at each other in concern. Neither of them had an answer.
"Gus?" asked a voice.
The three turned to see that Angmar and Gavin had come over with Ukla and Tom, the latter wearing a hood over his head and glancing at the coven scouts in the area. Angmar had been the one to speak.
"Hey, you two…" Luz said to Angmar and Gavin, her tone a bit uneasy.
"Hey, it's cool. Angmar saved me from my fall," Gus states.
"Look, we don't want any trouble or anything," Gavin said awkwardly. "We just want to make sure you guys are alright."
"Yeah, it was pretty impressive that you all defeated Emily," Angmar commented. "I thought it was stupid to go up against her, but you managed to pull it off."
"Well, the bitch had it coming," Luz responded before noticing Tom. "Hey, you look familiar..."
"Yeah, didn't we see you at Pleasure Island?" Amity asked while Tom looked away.
"Oh um, I think you're mistaking me for someone else," Tom responded.
"And you don't know me but I'm with them," Ukla said with her hand up. "The name's Ukla, anyone who beats Tricks is good in my book."
"Hey/What's up," Luz and Amity said as they and Gus shook her hand.
"So um, does this mean we're cool or something?" Angmar asked.
Gus hesitated before answering. "Well, to tell you the truth, me forgiving you was more of a spur of the moment thing," Gus admitted. "I was still in shock after nearly being killed and was feeling very grateful to you for saving me, Angmar. To be honest, I still have mixed feelings over you two because of what happened at the Looking Glass Ruins, but at the same time I don't want to hold a grudge."
"Yeah, this doesn't mean we've forgotten what you did with Bria," Luz said with a sigh. "But you also saved Gus and after this I think we have enough enemies as it is. So… truce?"
"Yeah, truce," Gavin said with a nod. "And yeah, it was pretty messed up what we tried to do back then." He looked down in shame.
"And we are really sorry about it, honest," Angmar told Gus and the two girls. "Though admittedly we didn't think we would be apologizing to you today. We were here for Boscha."
"Boscha?" Amity asked in surprise.
"Well, our friend Viney managed to get Boscha out if you want to know what happened to her," Luz told them, much to the relief of the Glandus kids and Tom.
"Thank Titan…" Angmar said. "Boscha is our friend. During her orientation, Emily wanted her to beat me up. But she refused to hurt me, which resulted in her being beaten up instead. Nobody had ever stood up for me like that, so we started hanging out."
"And a friend of Angmar is a friend of mine," Gavin continued. "When he didn't see Boscha after school yesterday and this morning, he got really worried and I agreed to help him look for her."
"I already hated Emily because she hurt my best friend, Yuki, in order to get the Sword of Adam," Ukla said, pointing to the sword Amity was holding. "So I didn't give a damn about her war with Hexside, but I couldn't abandon Boscha. She was nice to me. And I know that Emily does awful things to nice people."
This did surprise Luz, who never thought she would hear someone call Boscha a nice person.
"Wait, what happened to Bria?" Amity asked them, causing them to go quiet.
Gavin and Angmar looked at each other and nodded, deciding to tell the truth.
"After we got arrested when you defeated us, we were bailed out by a guy named Craig who had Tito make an example out of Bria," Gavin answered.
"We never heard from her after that," Angmar added, sounding worried. "And… we were cowards to not say anything out of fear of what could happen to us. We feared that Boscha might have disappeared like Bria did. Maybe it's time we stop being quiet about this."
"Yeah, we should tell the coven scouts what we know, even if it is too late for Bria," Gavin said.
"Wait, does this school really have some kind of tie to a criminal organization or something?" Luz asked and Gus nodded. "Man, the educational system really is fucked up here."
"I do have one question though," Amity said as she turned to the Glandus kids. "When I was fighting your teacher, Ms. Heinous, I noticed some graffiti on the wall that mentioned the Inner Demon." This caused Luz to look at Amity with a worried expression as they all noticed the Glandus kids' grim expressions. "What do you guys know about the Inner Demon?"
"At Glandus, the strong dominate the weak, survival of the fittest and all that," Gavin explained. "And among the students there are whispers of a… thing that preys on the weak."
"Sometimes a kid would just no longer show up to school at a certain point," Ukla added, looking down. "That's why I'm actually afraid for my friend, Yuki…"
This caused Luz, Amity and Gus to look concerned. "Do you guys have a counselor to speak with?" Luz asked them.
"Counselor?" Gavin asked in confusion. "We don't have those."
"Yeah, the school doesn't really believe in counselors," Ukla explained. "And it's not even a budget issue, Glandus just believes that counseling is for the weak."
"...Okay, that's really fucked up," Amity said.
"Look, we know a good counselor that can help you and any other Glandus students who would be interested," Luz explained. "Her name's Julia Traveler and I wish I had a card for you guys to contact-" Suddenly Luz noticed something up her sleeve, she pulled it out and saw that it was a card with Julia's information. "Huh, um… here, she's free to talk anytime," she said, handing it to Gavin.
"Uh, thanks," Gavin responded as he, Angmar and Ukla looked at the card.
From afar, Hunter was wearing a coven scout mask as watched as Luz, Amity, and Gus talked to the Glandus kids while Skara talked to Athena. He turned away, thinking that Luz and Amity wouldn't want to see him right now.
Flapjack pecked his mask and he turned to him. "What is it?" he asked before noticing one scout carrying a small cage containing Gus and Boscha's Palismen. He walked up to the scout.
"Excuse me, but what are you doing with those Palismen?" Hunter asked the scout.
"Oh, found these little guys trapped in a part of the school that is still standing," the scout responded. "Gonna take them back to the castle."
Seeing Emmillie and Hogarth scared made Hunter uneasy. "Actually, these Palismen still have owners, so it's best to give them back."
"What? But sir-"
"We only take Palismen that are abandoned, without an owner, or have been turned over to the Emperor's Coven," Hunter told the scout. "Look, just hand them to me so I can return them to their owners and I can treat you to lunch at the rec center."
"Okay," the scout agreed, handing the caged Palismen back to Hunter.
Flapjack told Hunter to head straight for Athena and Skara. "Um excuse me, but I think one of these belongs to your daughter," he said while handing Hogarth to Athena.
"Hogarth!" Athena said as Hogarth hopped into her hands. "Thank you for retrieving him, I'll make sure to give him to Boscha."
"Is Boscha okay?" Hunter asked in concern.
"Yeah, Skara just told me that she's recovering in a clinic in Latissa," Athena said, making Hunter sigh in relief.
"Wait, your voice sounds familiar," Skara said, which was Hunter's cue to leave.
Meanwhile, Luz heard someone calling to her. "Boss! Boss's girlfriend!" Luz turned to see Brucy with Batters.
"Excuse me, but does this feller belong to you?" Batters asked Luz as he walked over to them.
"Batters?" Gus asked, noticing the boy.
"Brucy!" Luz walked over to her talking bat, who hopped into Luz's hand. "I thought I lost you! Where have you been all this time?"
"Well, I tried to find you but it was like a maze in that school," Brucy explained. "But eventually I was found by that kid Batters who helped me look for you two while running away from these cannibal students that wanted to eat us."
"Then we were found by some scouts who got us out as the school came down," Batters finished.
"Wait, cannibal students?" Amity questioned.
"You could say we had quite the adventure…" Brucy said as he began to tell his tale.
Gus felt a tap on his shoulder and he turned to find Emmiline on his shoulder. "Emmiline, you're back!" he said while noticing a scout with a cardinal on his shoulder. "Hun-"
"Shh," Hunter shushed him before trying to walk away.
"Wait!" Gus said, chasing after him. "Um, I want to say thanks for bringing Emmiline back to me. I appreciate it. Along with your help earlier."
"It was… the least I can do," Hunter responded. "Just don't tell Luz and Amity that I'm here."
"I can do that," Gus responded. "Though what's gonna happen to this school and its students?"
"Depends. After the interviews and statements, the Emperor's Coven will determine whether or not Glandus will be shut down," Hunter answered. "The students will most likely be transferred to different schools, while the staff and the higher ranking students will face judgment."
"I know the media coven will eat this up," Gus said. He was silent for a moment, not really sure what to think of Hunter now. He lied to him, to Luz, and their friends. He spied on Luz and her family. But he also helped out him and Boscha. He was still upset about what Hunter had done, but he had also been angry at Amity and that hadn't been healthy. He knew there was a better way to deal with the mixed feelings he was having right now. "Can we… talk?"
Hunter looked around. "This is not a good place for that."
"Yeah," Gus agreed. "But maybe later?"
Hunter nodded. "Maybe later."
Gus looked at Flapjack. "So how did you get your Palisman?"
Hunter looked at Flapjack, who was hiding under his hood. "Oh, well this is Flapjack and he just came to me."
"Oh, well that's nice… wait, I thought you didn't know your Palisman's name?" Gus asked him, causing Hunter to look surprised.
"Wait… does that mean, I understand you now?" Hunter asked Flapjack, who chirped in response. "Wow, this is… okay, I got questions-"
"Hunter!" Gavin called out as he came over with Angmar. "Can we be brought in to give a statement?"
"Yeah, we want to tell you everything we know about what goes on at Glandus," Angmar added.
"Y-Yeah, come with me and we'll talk," Hunter told the two boys while turning to Gus. "Um, later, Gus."
Gus watched Hunter leave with the two boys, a look of uncertainty on his face. He felt conflicted, but he decided to not tell Luz and Amity about him being here.
"Hey guys!" Viney said as she flew down Puddles, getting Luz and the gang's attention. "Don't worry, Boscha's going to make a recovery. Now I'm ready to-" She noticed the current state of Glandus. "What the hell happened while I was gone!?"
"A shit ton," Luz said as she climbed onto Puddle's back. "Just take us back to Hexside."
"Yeah, back to Hexside…" Amity agreed as she and Gus climbed up.
"Hopefully it's still in one piece when we get back," Gus said.
"Hey Skara, are you coming?" Viney asked her.
"I'm going to go with Athena to check up on Boscha since Luz gave me instructions to the clinic," Skara replied. "You guys can go on without me."
Viney nodded and started flying back to Hexside with her passengers, leaving the remains of Glandus behind. The Glandus War is over.
Boscha opened her eyes with a groan. She soon realized that she was covered in bandages and was in some kind of hospital room, Hogarth laying on her lap. "W-where am I?"
This got the attention of Skara, Tom, and Athena, who were standing by her bed. "Boscha!" they cried out, coming over to her.
"Thank Titan you're alive!" Athena said as she went to hug her daughter.
"O-okay, mom, you're squeezing me too tight!" Boscha patted her mom's back, causing her to let go.
"Best not to hug her too much," said Dr. Bride, who was also in the room. "Don't want to reopen her stitches." She turned to Boscha. "I know you must be confused right now. My name's Dr. Bride. You were brought to me while you were passed out. Right now you're in my clinic, which is located in Latissa."
"Oh, um… thanks," Boscha said before spotting a large man with yellow eyes and stitches around his cranium moving equipment behind Bride. "Uh…"
"Don't worry about Max, he is one of mine," Dr. Bride explained. "A family commissioned me to build him as their bodyguard and butler. But Max came back after the family disappeared and the bank coven took the house. Which is unfortunate, though I still got paid."
"Hey um, I can step out and give you girls some privacy," Tom told them awkwardly as he stepped out.
Boscha was surprised that Tom was here before a realization hit her. "Wait… how could Tom have known where I…" She turned to her mom. "Did you… know he was living in our attic?"
"Yeah, I knew for a while," Athena responded. "I didn't bring it up earlier because I wanted you to come to me about him when you were ready, since I trusted your judgment. And after talking to him, he's a pretty good kid."
Boscha was still concerned. "You're not gonna tell…?"
"I'll handle Nicky. Tom is welcome to stay as long as he likes," Athena reassured.
"Um hey, can me and Boscha have a moment alone?" Skara asked.
"Of course, Skara," Athena responded as she and Dr. Bride, along with Max, left the room.
Boscha laid back in the bed, Hogarth nuzzling at her side. She petted her Palisman while Skara took a seat by her side in her chair.
"I'm… surprised to see you here," Boscha admitted.
"I wanted to make sure you were okay," Skara answered. "I was terrified when me and Viney, who was the one who brought you here, found you out cold and bleeding out. I am relieved that you are okay."
Boscha looked down at her bandaged up stomach and felt her bruised up face. "Well, it looks like I just have a few battle scars, so it could have been a lot worse," she said.
"That's good to hear… though can I ask you a favor?" Skara asked her.
"What kind of favor?" Boscha replied.
"Look, you may not like this, but I need you to tell anyone who asks that it was Miss Heinous that hurt you, not Nina," Skara told her.
Boscha frowned. "Why should I cover for that freak? She stabbed me with her claws!"
"Because if word gets out of what she did to you, she'll be put down," Skara answered.
"Again, why should I care about Nina?" Boscha questioned. "She has terrorized me on multiple occasions, treating me like I'm her prey. So why should I cover her ass?!"
"Because it could have easily been me in Nina's place!" Skara admitted, which shocked Boscha.
"You? What do you…wait," Boscha realized, looking at Skara with a suspicious look. "Are you saying… Skara, were you the werewolf that attacked me? Is… that why you disappeared?" She thought about how she had already suspected a connection due to the timing, Willow being there to save her, and Nicole's comment that the werewolf was a female.
Skara looked down, sitting back in her seat "Yes," she confessed. "It was me. I'm… a werewolf. And I'm very, very sorry for attacking you, Boscha. I had no control of my form at the time and the anger I had towards you just took over."
"How come… you didn't tell me?" Boscha asked her.
"I was… afraid," Skara said. "I have been afraid of something like this for a long time and what people would think of me. I screwed up and I could have honestly killed you if Willow hadn't stopped me. What Nina did to you wasn't okay, but since she is a lycan she would be held to different standards than most witches."
The Hieron girl realized where Skara was coming from and she sighed while leaning back on her pillow. "Okay," she said. "I'll tell them that Ms. Heinous stabbed me in cold blood, not Nina. Though what would that mean for Ms. Heinous?"
"Uh, nothing," Skara told her. "Ms. Heinous… kinda turned into a dragon and died."
Boscha's eyes widened. "Wait, what?!"
"You missed a lot," Skara told her. "But thank you, Boscha. And don't worry about Nina, my mom's gonna handle her."
"Hopefully she will have to spend time for what she did instead of being put down," Boscha mentioned while thinking about what would've happened to Skara if Nicole had her way. "Isn't putting down a teenager crossing it?"
"Dad said that the Emperor's Coven holds teenage lycans to the same standards as adult lycans," Skara explained.
"That is fucked up," Boscha commented, looking at Skara. "And I forgive you, by the way. For attacking me. I get it that you were not in control and… you had every right to harbor anger toward me. I was a bad friend and though I am trying to be better now, I am still sorry for how awful I was when we were friends." She paused. "Do you ever… miss being friends?"
Skara was silent for a few seconds, hesitant about answering. "Sometimes," she admitted. "But I think we both know that you wanted more…"
"What?" Boscha asked her.
"You wanted us to be more than friends, right?" Skara asked her, shocking Boscha and causing her to blush.
"You… you knew?" Boscha asked.
"Yeah, ever since that sleepover where you kissed me," Skara admitted.
"Oh, you still remember that," Boscha said awkwardly. She sighed. "Yes, at one point I did have a crush on you. But when I realized that you didn't feel the same, I tried to suppress my feelings by focusing on other things like grudgby, potions, being popular, Penstragram, being a bitch, etc. But when I saw you with Bo and made you break ties with her… it was because I felt threatened. Those old feelings that I tried to ignore, they hadn't really gone away. Then we had our falling out and you ended up dating Willow… honestly, a part of me still has these feelings for you even though I know that it is never gonna happen."
Skara listened to Boscha, feeling both very awkward and also… grateful that Boscha is being honest with her. The least she could do was be honest back.
"You want to know the reason why I never returned your feelings?" Skara asked. "It was because… I was afraid of you. Even though we were friends back then, you scared me. I realize now that our friendship wasn't the healthiest and I feel that if we were in a relationship, it would be even unhealthier."
This caused Boscha to think about Emily and Stella's relationship. She could see Skara's point. "You're probably right," she admitted. "I was there when you and Willow got together. And I was upset. I was upset that you were with someone that wasn't me. And I was upset at myself for losing you. I'm not upset anymore though. Because you found someone who makes you happy and I can't hold it against you."
"Thanks, Boscha," Skara replied. "And I hope you find someone that makes you happy too one day."
"Yeah, here's hoping," Boscha said. "Titan, will dealing with our feelings still be this difficult when we are adults too?"
"Probably," Skara answered, making Boscha groan. "So uh, who was that guy by the way? Tom, right? I didn't know that you had a boy living with you."
"He's a friend," she said quickly. "My… best friend. He has helped me a lot, so helping him in return was the least I could do." She sat up slightly. "So what were you saying about the Beast-Keeping teacher turning into a dragon?"
The meeting of the Order was going just as Oberon had planned. It has erupted into chaos and arguments upon exposing Rhombulus for his lies about Eclipsa, distracting them while Meteroa carried out her mission..
"Order! Order!" Genie shouts while in the form of a judge. "Alright, everyone, just calm down!"
"We need to discuss Eclipsa's sentence," Persephone stated,
"Yes, she needs to be given a proper trial and a potential release," Forseti suggested.
"What? No! She can't be released!" Rhombulus declared. "Do you know how dangerous she could be if released?!"
"That is not up to you to decide, Rhombulus!" Kabechet pointed out.
"She's right," Scrooge said while glaring at Rhombulus. "You imprisoned her for life with no hope of parole and for what? Marrying someone outside of her race and having a mixed species child?!"
"Eclipsa's potential release will be the topic of a future discussion along with whether or not Rhombulus should face punishment," Merlin said while turning to Oberon. "As for you, Oberon, I think you should start wrapping up."
"Fine," Oberon said dryly.
But then suddenly the sound of a bell ringing. The members of the Order looked up to see a tiny figure with an umbrella floating down.
"Attention!" Jiminy Cricket declared as he landed in front of Yen Sid. "I bring a message from Queen Titania herself, something you must see," he said while pulling a large letter from his coat and handing it to Yen Sid.
Oberon turned his head at the mention of his ex-wife while Yen Sid read the report, his eyes widening in anger. "Oberon… did you call for the Order to issue your complaints, or for something else?" he demanded to know.
Oberon's eyes widened. "I… I don't know what you mean-"
"Was the true nature of this meeting to pull Kitsuni away from the Demon Realm while a member of your Court was tasked with the elimination of two mortal children of the Boiling Isles?!" Yen Sid asked while Genie and Merlin also read the report and gave shocked looks.
"Luz, Amity!" Kitsuni stood up. "You tried to kill them!?"
"And you used this whole meeting to distract us!?" Genie exclaimed.
"Now let me explain..." Oberon said.
"Oh there's no need to explain," Kitsuni called him out. "This is about the Coachman, is it? Those two took him down after all of us kept telling you to do something about him!"
"Oh and who gave them credit in your report about L'Omino's death?" Oberon asked Kitsuni. "You're just as responsible for putting a target on the backs of those girls, Kitsuni! So you have yourself to blame for their deaths!"
"Enough, Oberon!" Yen Sid snapped his fingers and Oberon found himself in iron cuffs. "Your actions go against everything that the Order stands for!"
"Yeah, and it appears thanks to a member of Titania's Court, your assassin failed," Genie revealed, shocking Oberon.
"What!? Meteora failed!?" he exclaimed.
"Oberon of the Unseelies Court, for your crimes of plotting the assassination of mortals under Order protection and breaking charter rules by sending your minion to a sovereign realm, you have received a second strike on your record," Yen Sid sentenced. "That means, you will be put under house arrest for the time being."
"Meaning you're grounded, mister," Genie said, causing Oberon to glare at them.
"You can't do this to me! I am the King of the Fae!" Oberon screamed before he was teleported back to his realm.
"I must go," Kitsuni said as she worriedly got up from her seat.
"I don't understand why we just don't kick him out?" Scrooge asked him. "Nobody likes him."
"He's right, what worth would we gain for keeping Oberon?" Genie asked.
"Because he is still the King of the Unseelie Fae and he is the only one they will answer to, which means that he still holds a lot of dangerous power," Yen Sid explained. "While we can trust Titania to rule her Court without our oversight, we have to monitor Oberon a lot more closely. So we asked him to join the Order, making him think that he is being given more power than his ex-wife since his Court is being represented and not hers. I thought we could keep him and his people in line, preventing them from causing more problems for us in the future, but perhaps I had overestimated his maturity…" He then turned to Rhombulus. "And as for you, Rhombulus, you are not off the hook yet. We will now hold out a vote over whether or not a hearing should be held for Eclipsa."
"So just take out your devices and put in your vote now!" Genie as Simon Cowell declared while each member of the Order voted, including Rhombulus.
Genie magically sets up the scoreboard while posing as Steve Harvey. "And now, survey says…" He showed the board, the votes in favor held the majority, while the only vote against it was from Rombulus. "Looks like the majority has spoken!"
"Then it is decided," Yen Sid said. "The hearing of Eclipsa Butterfly will be the subject of our next meeting. The current meeting is now adjourned. You are all dismissed."
Puddles flew Viney, Luz, Amity and Gus back to Hexside. The four were relieved that their school was at least still standing and they noticed that Glandus students were being escorted off of the premises by the Emperor's Coven.
"Looks like our side's got their fair share of coven scout visits too," Luz said.
As Puddles flew down, they spotted Felicia with her ghost camera crew filming.
"As you can see, the Top Glandus students are being apprehended by the Emperor's Coven. Could the rumors of them being involved in criminal activity be true? Is there a Glandus conspiracy going on? And what about the teachers who were part of the attack, where have they disappeared to?" Felicia asked while spotting Luz, Amity and Gus. "Luz Clawthorne!" She rushed towards Luz. "What can you tell us about what happened at Glandus?"
"We came, we saw, we kicked Emily's ass and then we slayed a dragon," Luz said while walking past her with Amity, Gus and Viney.
"Wait, dragon!?" Felicia asked in shock. "What the hell does that even mean!?"
As they went up to the school, they spotted Willow by the entrance. "Guys!" She rushed towards them. "Skara texted me that you were coming back." She went to hug Gus first. "Are you alright, Gus? They didn't hurt you, did it?"
"Emily tried to throw me off of the roof, but I lived," Gus replied.
"Oh thank Titan you're alright," Willow said before turning to Luz and Amity, giving them both hugs. "Thank you for retrieving him, you guys."
The two hugged back. "And Emily Tricks won't be a problem anymore," Amity said as they released the hug.
"Wait, by that do you mean…?" Willow asked while Luz chuckled.
"We beat her ass and now she's being taken to the Conformatorium," Luz said before shifting into Maya's voice. "If you ask me, we should've snapped her neck." Willow was startled by the new voice coming from Luz. "Name's Maya, by the way."
"Um… what?" Willow asked.
"Long story short, the soul of the Palisman that Luz killed still existed inside of her and now they shared a body," Amity told her.
Willow blinked. "Wow, sounds like I missed a lot."
"It's um, going to be hard getting used to having another voice in my head," Luz commented. "But hey, thanks for keeping Hexside still standing."
Willow sighed. "It wasn't easy though," she said as Principal Bump was brought out in a stretcher.
"What happened to Principal Bump?" Amity asked in alarm.
"He got injured so badly that he has to spend some time with the Healing Coven," Willow answered.
The stretcher with Bump was noticed by Cain, who was being led out of the school by coven scouts. The sight of Bump in a stretcher disturbed Cain as he realized what Grease had done. He looked down in shame. "This could've been prevented if I just…" He felt Simon patting his shoulder.
"You're doing the right thing now, Cain," Simon said. "And I promise we'll talk later."
Cain nodded. "Yeah, and tell dad and Beck… I'm sorry," he said as he willingly let the coven scouts take him to the coven wagon.
"You all will be hearing from my dad when I get out!" Tito ranted while being escorted out of the school and placed in the coven wagon with Goregon, Ruth, and Weaselton. He then spotted Luz and co, noticing that Amity was holding the Sword of Adam. "Oh crap…"
"What?" Weaselton asked him.
"I think… Emily lost," Tito answered.
"What!?" Goregon and Weaselton shouted in shock while Ruth's eyes popped out from the news before the door to the wagon was slammed shut.
Appearing from behind the school was Kitsuni. When she spotted Luz and Amity, she rushed towards them.
"Luz, Amity!" Kitsuni called for them, drawing their attention to her. "Are you two alright?"
"Yeah, we're fine," Amity responded.
"We just got back from Glandus, or what's left of it," Luz said. "Turns out one of their teachers is a Fae."
"I'm sorry that happened." Kitsuni told them. "I was deliberately lured away so that Fae could be able to attack you. I should have never left…"
"Hey, it's alright, this is not your fault," Luz assured her, noticing how emotional Kitsuni was, something she had never seen from the fox yokai. "What matters is that we're still alive."
Kitsuni nodded. "You're right, at least you two are still alive."
Suddenly a news cart showed up and Felicity Fox came out, marching up to Hexside.
"Hey, mom-" Felicia spoke, but was completely ignored by her mother.
"Not now," Felicity said, spotting Luz and Amity talking to Kitsuni. "Oh, and there's the ones that took out Glandus-" She then noticed Kitsuni, which weirded her out. She walked over to the fox yokai. "Um… who are you?"
Kitsuni turned to her. "I'm Ms. Kitsuni, the teacher for the Detention Track."
"I didn't know that Hexside had employed a fox demon…" Felicity said with her eyes narrowed, immediately taking a dislike to Kitsuni. "What coven are you in?"
Kitsuni showed her fake sigil to Felicity. "I'm in the Illusions Coven."
Felicity was still suspicious of Kitsuni when she heard her camera demon reminding me. "Hey um, are we gonna start this or what?"
"Very well," Felicity said as she got in front of the camera. "Is it rolling? Good. This is Felicity Fox reporting to you in the aftermath of the school war, where Hexside made a surprising victory against Glandus High-OOF!"
"Move aside," Luz said as she knocked Felicity over and grabbed her microphone. "Hey, keep rolling, I got something to say to that useless Emperor." This caused a lot of students, scouts, and Felicity to look at her in panic. "We were all told that this school war was a way to build character. But the way I see it, it's nothing but an excuse to have kids fight and kill each other. And for what? A sense of pride? Get more kids to stop coming to school and end up in the Forest of Fear? You know, most schools would just have water balloon fights, write clever jokes on their rival's statue, or steal a mascot! We shouldn't be fighting each other in an all out war! I'm tired of this kind of shit that happens just because our lazy Emperor won't do anything about it! This could have been preventable! You want my statement? No more school wars! For Titan's sake, we're not even in the Savage Ages anymore, how the fuck was this allowed!?" She held up the mic and dropped it. "And if you enjoy watching kids fight each other… what the fuck is wrong with you?!"
Back at the Emperor's castle, the Emperor and his Coven Heads had seen Luz's rant. Most of them were shocked, while Terra looked downright angry.
"She really is Eda's daughter," Calypso said in amusement.
"She has the gull to insult our Emperor like that?!" Vitimir asked, turning to Belos.
The Emperor was silent for a few moments as his Heads waited for his response. Then he did something none of them was expecting… he chuckled.
"She certainly has spirit," Belos said. "And despite her colorful language, she does have a point. There hasn't been a school war since before my rule, and with the Day of Unity coming, I see no reason why we should still allow this practice."
Terra objected to this. "But sir, this is a tradition! Not only will you be upsetting the traditionalists, but you will be losing a way to look for potential future coven candidates!"
"That is irrelevant," Belos pointed out. "I shouldn't have to allow these destructive wars just to appease the traditionalists. Some traditions need to die and in fact this war took time away from the students that they could have used focusing on their lessons. And we have other ways of looking for future recruits that don't involve such… savagery."
"The Emperor's right," Calypso agreed. "We shouldn't have to allow anymore wars like this to happen."
"I second that," Alador adds, causing Terra to glare at the two newly appointed heads.
"Fine, why not just make a vote out of it?!" Terra threw her hands up.
"Not a bad idea," Belos responded. "We shall hold a vote. Those in favor of banning school wars, raise your hand and say Ay."
"Ay." Calypso and Alador raised their hands up.
"Ay." Ulrich raised his hand. "I wouldn't want my children fighting in a school war, I see no reason to subject other children to that either."
"Ay for Hexside's win." Adrian raised his hand up.
"Seeing that we could get points from the younger generations for this, I say Ay." Orsan raised his hand up.
"I don't see a point in a school war in the first place, so I'm in favor," Scooter said. "So… Ay."
"Ay as well, since I did bet on Hexside's win," Vitimir said while grinning at Terra.
Hettie was originally going to oppose, but seeing her fellow coven heads raise their hand in favor of the ban, she reluctantly raised her hand as well. "Ay."
"And all opposed?" Belos asked.
"Nay! Nay!" Terra raised her hand up, even using vines to form hands to outnumber the vote.
Ignoring the vines, Belos spoke. "Then it's settled. Let it be the Titan's will that this school war will be the last of its kind. Let us leave this chapter behind us as we head towards the Day of Unity."
Terra gripped the table angrily. "Then what about Clawthorne, sir? She said some nasty things about you?"
"That doesn't matter," Belos replied. "Just know that no harm is to come to her." He reviewed the footage of Luz's rant and noticed her heterochromia eyes, which intrigued him. "After all, she is still our key player."
A knock was heard on the door to the Healing Room. Cat cautiously opened it and saw that it was Willow with Luz, Amity, Gus and Viney.
"Hey, miss us?" Luz asked.
"Guys!" Cat said, hugging her friends before leading them inside. "I'm so glad that you're okay! Come on in, we have several other rooms set up for the injured across the school. Wait… where is Skara?!"
"Don't worry, she's okay," Amity said, causing Cat to sigh in relief. "She just stayed behind to make sure that Boscha was alright."
"Mittens, you're back!" Emira cried out as she went to hug her sister. Edric, who was here with Dusty, went to hug Amity as well. "Are you hurt anywhere?"
"I should be fine," Amity replied as she hugged her siblings back.
"Where'd you get this sick sword?" Edric asked, pointing to the sword in question.
"Oof, and we should treat that cut of yours," Emira said, pointing to the scratch mark on Amity's cheek.
"Yeah, we should," Amity agreed.
"Hey, no hugs for me?" Viney asked before she received her hug from Emira.
"I'm so glad that you're safe as well, Vines!" Emira said. "And thank you for bringing my sister back safely."
"It's the least I can do," Viney responded, noticing that her sides were bandaged. "You're hurt?"
"Yeah, got kicked but it'll heal," Emira said as Viney escorted her to a cot.
"Come on, let me give it a check. Hopefully you're not bleeding internally," Viney responded.
"Well… if you insist on playing doctor," Emira said with a smile.
Simon also came in after the group, Cat spotting him. "Simon, you're-OH MY TITAN, you're face!?"
"Hey, Cat," Simon responded, his face bruised while every muscle in his body was swollen. "Guess what? I've settled things with my brother now." He nearly fell over, but Cat was here to help him.
"Okay, you need to lay down…. and get an ice block," Cat said while struggling to help her boyfriend to a cot.
Luz looked around at the injured. Mattholomule, Dusty, Tyler, Louise, Selene, Scotty, and Dog were among the wounded while Jerbo, Barcus, and the Shadowy Secret Expozers helped the healers hand out supplies. Even teachers were there to get their injuries treated, including Redback and Jane.
"Is everyone at least alive?" Luz asked.
"Luckily, yeah," Bo replied. "We all survived the war with zero casualties."
"How's Amelia?" Gus asked as Bo led them to Amelia, who was covered in bandages while laying on her cot.
"Gus?" Amelia asked, seeing him with Amity, Luz and Willow. "Oh, thank Titan you're alright."
"How are you feeling, Amelia?" Gus asked.
"Awful," she confessed. "I'm so, so sorry that I wasn't able to protect you, Gus. It was my fault that you were taken. If something had happened to you… if only I had been strong enough…"
"Hey, enough of that," Gus told her. "Don't blame yourself. What matters now is that we are all alive and in one piece."
"He's right," Amity agreed. "Just be glad that the war's over."
Gus nodded before spotting Elliot nearby. "I'll talk to you later, there's someone else I should speak to." He went to confront Elliot. "Elliot?"
"Gus?" Elliot responded. "Oh I'm… glad you're alright. They said you got captured."
"Well, I was, thanks to Horace," Gus said, shocking Elliot. "Which is what I wanted to tell you. Horace was at Glandus and he was the one who suggested capturing me to get to Luz."
"What… what happened to him?" Elliot asked.
"Last I saw him, he got blasted in the face by one of Glandus's staff members." Gus answered. "He had the choice to stay out of the war, but instead decided to try and get back at me and Luz. I figured since you knew him, you have the right to know."
Elliot's ears dropped and he looked guiltily "That explains why he was talking to Emily and her friends…"
"Wait, you knew?" Gus asked him.
"I swear I didn't know why he was talking to them," Elliot said. "I mean, we both live on the same street and… I didn't hear what they were talking about. I didn't know he'd betray Hexside like that." The cyclops goat demon looked ashamed. "Gus, I'm very sorry for not sticking up for you and your friends. I'm not a goat, I'm a sheep, a follower. But not anymore! From now on, I'll make my own choices. I don't need anyone to tell me what to do. I'll eat what I want, I'll hang out with who I want, sign what I want, bite whoever's face off I want-!"
"Okay, maybe rethink the last one," Gus advised and Elliot nodded.
"Is the membership of the HAS still open?" Elliot asked him.
"Everyone's open to join," Gus told him. "Even former members."
Outside the hall, Steve knocked on the door. It was Bo that answered. "Uh hey, I'm here to check up on my brother, Mattholomule Storms."
"Oh, are you Steve?" Bo asked him.
"Yeah um, how'd you know?" Steve asked.
"I'm Bo, one of Matt's friends," Bo told him. "And he's talked about you."
"Hmm, I think Matt may have mentioned you," Steve commented, seeing a shocked Matt on his cot trying to signal for Steve to go away, but Steve ignored it. "You, uh, in Healing?"
"Yeah, my parents run a clinic and one of my dads is a surgeon healer," Bo replied. "Come on, let me take you over to Matt."
Bo led Steve to Matt. "Hey little bro, just met your wonderful friend here," Steve said.
"Hey, Steve…" Matt replied, speaking through the grit of his teeth.
"I'll leave you two alone," Bo said as she walked out while Steve sat beside Matt.
"So how are you feeling, Matt?" Steve asked him.
"I've felt better, since I got hit hard by Simon's brother," Matt responded, holding an ice pack over his black eye.
"Hey, at least you got your girlfriend around to keep you company," Steve said, earning a punch in the arm from his half-brother. "Hey!"
"Me and Bo aren't like that," Matt told him.
"Maybe not yet, but someday you two might," Steve commented.
"I doubt that…" Matt muttered, but Steve gave him some encouragement.
"Come on, don't sell yourself short, little dude," Steve told him. "But even if she doesn't like you back, there are plenty of other fish in the Boiling Sea."
"Are you speaking from experience?" Matt asked him.
"Hey, we are not talking about my love life here," Steve said defensively.
Meanwhile, Luz went up to Jerbo and Barcus as they helped to hand out medical supplies. "Hey, Barc, Jerb, heard you two helped take out some Tops."
"Yeah," Jerbo confirmed while Barcus barked. "Puffer and Professor Snope helped me fight that Goregon kid, while Eileen helped Barcus create a cure for the victims of a zombie weasel virus."
"Oh man, zombie weasels? I wish I could've seen that! Did you at least save me some to fight?" Luz asked Barcus, who shook his head. "Dang it," she said. "Hey Barcus, can I ask you one thing? Have you ever read about anything that involves, let's say, two souls that live in the same body?"
Barcus looked at her in confusion while making a barking noise. Jerbo translated. "He says that he's never read anything like that in his books." Luz sighed and Barcus let out another bark which Jerbo translated as well. "He also pointed out that you are radiating two different auras right now. Does that have to do with the different eye colors?"
"Yeah, it's a long story…" Luz said before noticing that the door to the room had been left open and Kikimora was passing by. Maya took the reins. "You!"
Kikimora felt a shiver up her spine and she turned to see the cambion girl glaring at her. "C-C-Clawthorne human!" she exclaimed while Maya charged towards her. "W-Wait, wait! I'm not here for trouble! You don't want to get in trouble, right?"
"Don't care, you got another thing coming!" Maya shouted, coming out of the room with her wings popping out. She extended her claws, ready to maim at Kikimora. But she suddenly froze. "What!?" she shouted as Luz pulled her own arm away from Kiki, taking a step back.
"Stop it! She's not worth it!" Luz told her while restraining herself.
"She deserves this for what she did to me!" Maya responded, trying to move while Luz pulled her hair back. "I already got in trouble before, not gonna happen again!" she shouted while she slammed her head against the lockers repeatly.
Kikimora watched as the cambion girl kept beating herself up. "I'll uh… just leave you to continue doing whatever this is," she said as she backed away fearfully and made a dash for it.
"She's getting away!" Maya shouts as she tries to chase her, only to trip herself over. "Oof!" she cried while Luz bit her own arm. "AAAAH What are you doing?!"
"I know you can't forgive her, I can't either!" Luz responded through her bite. "But we can't go after her!"
"But she hurt us!" Maya shouted. "You know those damn fools in the Emperor's Coven will keep hurting us! Why defend her!? -You think I don't know that?!" Luz argued back while Maya pulled their own hair. "AAH!" Luz screamed.
Crowbar was down the hall when he spotted Luz beating herself up. "What the hell…?"
"I don't know how you expect our co-ownership to work!" Maya shouted while Luz punched herself in the stomach. "Especially if you intend to let the people who hurt us get away! -Because we need to be smarter than this!" Luz said while forcing herself against the locker and twisting her own arm. "Listen Maya," she spoke to her own reflection in the locker. "I know you're angry, I'm angry too but we can't go out to cause a war. The Emperor has my friends locked up in the Conformatorium, and as long as I don't fuck with him or the Emperor's Coven, he doesn't petrify them. Do you understand the stakes and position we're in right now?"
Maya took the words in. She did see Luz's point, but she still wanted revenge against those who hurt them. Reluctantly, she stood down as she sat on the floor.
"Fine," Maya responded. "Besides, there's too many potential witnesses here anyway." She pointed at Crowbar.
"Are you alright?" Crowbar asked her.
"Yeah, just… um…" Luz didn't know how to explain it to a stranger as she got up. "So are you with the goth kids or something?"
"Oh, no I'm actually part of a team of witch vigilantes," he responded. "Well, it was our leader's idea so we just follow her lead. Name's Crowbar, but secretly, I'm Beocrow," he whispered.
"Nice, um, to meet you," Luz replied, noticing the crow on his shoulder. "Is it because of the crow you have?"
"Who, Takai?" he asked as his crow morphed into his staff. "Nah. Beocrow is more of a nickname, honestly. I am glad that I ran into you. The rest of my team already left, but I've been meaning to meet the girl who'll kick Belo's ass."
"Just to tease me about it?" Luz asked.
"Actually, I'm a fan," Bailey responded. "Especially since you're my cousin."
"Well that's nice…" Luz paused, thinking about what he had said. "SAY WHAAAT!?" she exclaimed in shock just as the goth boy opened a window. "Wa-wait! Where are you going!?"
"Gotta bail before the adults start asking too many questions," he told her as he flew out of the window. "BYEEE!" he declared, flying away from the school and catching up to his friends who were also riding their own staffs.
Luz watched him fly away, still shocked. "I have… a cousin?" she asked herself.
"Luz/Mija!"
Hearing two familiar voices, Luz turned around to see Eda and a disguised Camila running over to hug their daughter.
"You're alright!" Eda cried out.
"Thank God!" Camila said, her voice filled with worry.
Luz hugged both of her moms. "I'm so glad to see you two as well," she said, tears in her eyes.
"I'm so sorry that I didn't come here sooner," Eda apologized. "Me and Lilith wanted to come help, but before we could leave the Owl House was attacked."
"What?!" Luz asked in shock. "Is everyone alright? What about Levi's sister?"
"Don't worry, she's safe along with King, Lilith, and Hooty," Eda assured her, letting Luz sigh in relief. "They aren't here because they had to stay behind to clean up the… leftovers."
"Alright, here's more," King said while throwing more dead bodies to Hooty, who engulfed them.
"Hoot-hoot, delicious! Too bad I have to barf them into the Boiling Seas," Hooty replied as he saw Lilith bringing over a cart full of body parts. "Oh, and I see you've hacked up the bodies for me!"
"It was… hard to get the blood stains out," Lilith responded as Hooty ate.
"Alright, gonna dump these bodies in the Boiling Seas!" Hooty announced as he stretched his neck outside with a load of bodies in his tube neck.
He passed by Gwendolyn and the Slitherbeast, Gwendolyn levitating some bodies that were then eaten by the Slitherbeast. "There, this should fill you up for today." She patted the beast, who gargled in response.
After Hooty coughed out the bodies into the seas, he started to stretch his head back. He spotted someone at the mailbox. "Hmm? Who are you?" he asked.
"Oh, does King Clawthorne live here?" asked a large man wearing a skullcap similar to King's. It was the same man who had seen King's video last weekend.
"Yeah, you got the right address!" Hooty answered.
"Then make sure that this gets to him," he told Hooty, placing the envelope down before walking away.
Hooty looked down at the black envelope and spotted a bug crawling across it. "Alright, lunch!" he said he engulfed the bug along with the envelope, swallowing both. "Mmm-mmm! Whoopsie! Hope that was junk mail!"
"Let's just say, expect some stains in the living room," Eda told her daughter before noticing her eyes. "Hey, um, there's something different about your eyes."
"Oh um… okay, this is going to be hard to explain," Luz told her.
"Explain what?" Eda asked only for Maya to speak up.
"That she has a new roommate," Maya responded, surprising Eda and Camila. "Name's Maya, Owl Lady."
"...Luz, what is going on?" Eda asked her, sounding disturbed.
"Yeah, I'll explain it later when we get home," Luz said as Amity came into the hallway and spotted Eda and Camila.
"Hey, Amity, how's it-" Eda and Camila were embraced by Amity.
"I am so happy to see you two right now," Amity responded, tears leaking from her eyes.
"You two have been through a lot, haven't you?" Camila asked in concern, patting Amity's back as Eda did the same.
Eda noticed how bad Luz and Amity looked. "Do you two want to go home?" she asked them and they nodded.
"Yeah, just let us finish up with our friends first," Luz responded.
"Going home sounds nice," Amity agreed.
"I can't believe you didn't stay at home like I told you to," Kitsuni said to Mai as they walked through the hall.
"Sorry, big sis," Mai apologized. "I got bored and when I realized Hexside was in the middle of a war I wanted in. It was a pretty fun experience!"
"Well you'd probably make Lord Hachiman impressed," Kitsuni suggested, Mai's eyes forming stars.
"Really?" Mai asked hopefully. "But you know, I wouldn't mind spending more time here at Hexside. I like the kids here!"
"Just wait right here, I gotta talk with Ms. Traveler," Kitsuni told her as she opened the door to the guidance counselor's office. "Julia, can I speak to… you?"
To her surprise, Julia wasn't there. Her office was empty.
Meteora gasped as she woke up and found herself inside a dark temple.
"Hey, she's awake," said a voice and Meteora turned to see the talking statue of a bodybuilder. "Hi, you are a lot further in the temple than others usually get."
"She's a particularly odd one," the gowned woman statue said.
"What… where am I?!" Meteora asked as she got up and backed away until she heard a voice that made her shiver.
"You are in a place known as the Eclipse Escape Dungeon," Julia Traveler told her as Meteora turned to face her.
"Mary!" Meteora cried out in fear, jumping back. "I-I don't want any trouble from you!"
"Don't fret," Julia assured her. "If I wanted to do something to you, I would've already done it."
Meteora was still on the defensive. "I was just-"
"Here on Oberon's orders to kill those two girls?" Julia asked her. "Everyone in the Order now knows and he was placed under house arrest. But Oberon has no idea what secrets the Boiling Isles hold, including what your mother left here."
This caused Meteora's eyes to widen. "My… my mother?"
"Look at the portrait behind you." Julia pointed her umbrella at something behind Meteora, causing the Fae to turn around and look up at the portrait of the green haired woman in the purple gown.
"Is that… my mother?!" Meteora asked in shock, the portrait already stirring up a few memories that had been long forgotten.
"Her name is Eclipsa Butterfly, also known as the Dark Queen of Mewni," Julia explained to her. "Oberon may have told you that you were abandoned by your family, but the truth is he took you away from them."
Meteora's iris shrank at the realization and fell on her knees, shaken by the news. "Mother…"
Julia nodded. "We have much to talk about, Meteora."
"I'm home!" Kadabe announced as she floated into the old, creaky house.
"Due to the result of the school war, everyone at Glandus has the rest of the day off!" Kadabe said while floating through the hall. "Too bad the Emperor's Coven decided to ruin the fun though. Glad that I got out when I did."
"I can't stay here for too long, since chances are some coven scouts will come looking for me here. So I'm just here to pick my stuff up," she said while going up the stairs.
She went into her room, pulled out a suitcase, and started putting stuff in it. "I'm probably going to be gone for a while. Lay low until the heat's down. So don't expect me back for supper." She looked at her dresser. "Oh, can't forget about my favorite toy!"
She grabbed a doll of some sort and spoke to it. "Did you think I almost forgot about you?" she asked the doll. "Oh look, one of your stitches got loose again. Glad I got you before that dog damaged you beyond repair. I still had to patch you up and put different kinds of stuffing in there… I'm surprised that you're even still alive in there."
She placed the doll inside her suitcase and the stitched up Dolly Tempus could only watch as her new owner closed the suitcase.
Kadabe then announced her departure. "Welp, gotta go. See you two around!" she said as she left the house, leaving behind two skeletons that were sitting at the dinner table.
Luz and Amity were back at the Owl House, having given everyone a recap of what went down at Glandus..
"And so Emily was taken away by coven scouts, we took Gus back to Hexside, and that's about it," Luz finished.
"An illusionist with hypnotism powers… that actually does explain things," Lilith noted, intrigued and disturbed by Emily Trick's powers.
"So what went on around here?" Amity asked.
"Well, there was a siege…" Eda began to explain.
Meanwhile in the other room, Brucy and Rocky had met up with the other living appliances.
"So… they're recently animated like us?" Brucy asked.
"Oh yeah, Lilith turned everything alive and basically we all just ate the intruders," the talking lamp explained as the couch burped out a skull.
"This is going to be weird to get used to," Rocky commented.
"I think it's best if we just stay silent for the rest of our lives," the fridge replied. "Like that one movie Luz and King saw once, about the toaster?"
"Well, at least until Eda replaces us with normal appliances while we just go on living our lives," a broom with arms commented, the other living appliances agreeing.
Back in the living room Eda finished. "And after getting rid of the bodies, mom left out some bleach potions to help clean the mess up."
"They didn't enter our rooms, did they?" Luz asked.
"Don't worry, Luz, they didn't make it that far," Hooty declared. "And I'm 99 percent sure all those Labraptors were finished off."
Outside a Labraptor was seen disappearing into the woods, running far away from the Owl House.
"So now what?" King asked. "With that Emily Tricks girl locked away and Craig dead, it's over, right?
"I don't think it is over," Eda said. "We are going to have to be on guard against this Tarot Guild in the future and watch out for Nicole who has gained some kind of power boost."
"Craig mentioned that whoever is running the Tarot Guild is someone that we have crossed before. Question is who?" Lilith asked.
"We'll worry about that in another time." Eda replied, while turning to Luz. "Now, what is going on with Maya?"
Luz looked down. "Well, it turns out that she's been conscious inside of my head for quite some time. I didn't know she was there at first, but now it kinda feels like having a second person living in your body."
"Has something like this ever happened in the Boiling Isles before?" Amity asked Eda.
"Not like this," Eda told them. "Though I have discovered that the Owl Beast isn't just a curse. It really is a creature that's living inside of me."
"When Maya first emerged, I was trapped in my own subconscious," Luz continued. "I don't remember much of what she did. One moment, I was strapped to a table. The next moment I was in the mindscape."
"Cow boy didn't stand a chance against me, so I put that knife through his snout," Maya spoke up. "Wish I could've done the same to that short imp Kikimora, but Luz had to spoil the fun."
"That's because we can't get into more trouble than we already are in with the Emperor's Coven!" Luz told Maya.
"So what's your current situation with the two of you… in one?" King asked, sounding more confused.
Maya rolled her eyes while turning to the residents of the Owl House. "Look, me and Luz have an agreement to be co-owners of this body until we figure something else out. And let me tell you all one thing: don't get any ideas about trying to lock me away. I don't want funny business from any of you. Especially you." She growled at Lilith, who backed away.
"I… I'll keep my distance from you, Maya." Lilith assured her.
Maya scoffed. "You better, Belos's pet."
"Alright, enough," Eda told Maya. She sighed. "Look Maya, I know what it's like from experience with the Owl Beast, and I can assure you that we won't hurt you. I understand that you and Luz are just trying to make the best of your current situations. So that makes you just another member of this one big, bizarre family."
Luz saw that Camila looked concerned. "Hey mami, are you alright?" she asked her.
"Oh, it's just…" Camila replied, sounding nervous. "Um, are you sure this is okay with you, Luz?"
"Well, it's still a work in progress, but I think this compromise is what's best for both of us right now and I want you guys to understand and accept that," Luz said.
"Don't worry, Luz, I'm hundred percent on your side on this," Amity stated.
"Yeah, that'll mean I have another sister around," King said while Lilith nodded silently.
"And a new friend!" Hooty declared, Maya giving him a creeped out look.
"...Don't let him be near me," Maya said, scooting away from the house guardian.
"Well, welcome to the family, Maya," Camila said awkwardly.
"Now that that's settled, who wants sushi that I made from the dead corpse of that octopus guy?" Hooty asked them.
"Me! I've always wanted to feast upon our enemies!" King raised his hand up as he followed Hooty. "You coming, Luz?"
"I'll catch up, I uh, gotta talk to my moms for a bit." Luz said as she brought Eda and Camila down the hall to talk to them in private.
So what's the secrecy talk? Need motherly advice?" Eda asked.
"Well, not really," Luz responded. "I just wanted a moment alone. I mean, this has just been one crazy messed up week for us. Emily, Glandus, an evil organization of witch traffickers, Boscha's crazy mom… it feels like we just went through a really long story arc."
"I see what you mean," Eda replied. "I mean, in addition to crushing our enemies today we also got to know the other sides of ourselves. Our… sentient sides."
"I can see why the Bat Queen always said you were a bit daffy," Maya mentioned, causing Eda to look at her.
"What? What does she say about me?" Eda asked her.
"Maya, think you can let me talk for a bit?" Luz asked. "Fine." Maya replied while Luz continued. "Look, mom, we're in the same boat right now. All this time I've always wondered how you managed the Owl Beast and now I feel like I can relate to you about it, even if it isn't exactly the same." She then turned to Camila "And mami, I know that you're feeling freaked out about this and it will take some getting used to, but you can trust me on this."
"I… do trust you, Luz," Camila responded, though she had this worried and stressed look. She sighed. "I'll admit, this whole thing is a lot to take on. I thought I could get used to these weird moments but… I don't know- I think I'm going up to my room for the night," she said, excusing herself to go up to her room at the tower.
This concerned Luz, who watched as her birth mother left. "Looks like she's taking it well," Maya said sarcastically, causing Luz to hush her. "Stop it."
"Give her time," Eda said while Luz turned to her. "She's been through a lot today, just like everyone else here. This school war has taken a toll on everyone."
"Yeah," Luz agreed. "What we need is a break."
"Which is why I'm lifting your grounding," Eda revealed.
Luz looked up at Eda. "Really?"
"You've earned it, kiddo." Eda patted her daughter's head. "After what you've been through, you've earned to have your girlfriend back in your room again."
"Thanks, mom!" Luz shouted as she hugged Eda. She then remembered something. "Oh, one more thing. Earlier today I met something claiming to be my cousin. His name is Beocrow or at least that's what he calls himself. He had a crow Palisman and I think he's part of some costumed superhero cosplay group… it would make more sense if you met him."
"Cousin?" Eda noted. "I'll admit, I've been out of touch with my extended family for quite some time. Haven't been to the annual Clawthorne Clan gatherings. But yeah, you probably do have a cousin around. Maybe some day we can reach out to them."
"Yeah, I think I would like that," Luz agreed.
Eda's expression changed. "And then there's Maya, think I can talk to her for a bit?"
Luz's expression changed to Maya's gritty look. "Yeah?"
"I understand your situation and I know what you're going through," Eda told her. "But even if you live in Luz's head, you are also living under my roof. Which means you have to follow my rules."
Maya wanted to roll her eyes but Luz prevented it. "Fine," she replied.
"And if you want, we can go to the Bat Queen and let her know that you're still alive in there," Eda added, an idea Maya did not seem to like.
"M-Maybe someday," Maya quietly said, looking down. "I don't know if I'm ready to see her, yet."
"Take your time, then," Eda advised. "Take all the time you need. Both of you."
Amity was holding the sword that had once belonged to Emily when King saw her with it.
"Wow, what kind of sword is that?" King asked.
"According to Ukla, this is the Sword of Adam," Amity responded. She hung the sword up on the wall. "This sword belonged to Emily, but now I have it."
"I think I may have heard of a sword like this before," Lilith said as she walked in, looking at the sword. "I thought it was just a rumor."
"I wasn't planning on bringing it home at first, but for some reason it just felt right," Amity replied while turning to Lilith. "Say Lilith, if Eda can change into a harpy form, is it possible that you could do it as well?"
This piqued Lilith's interest. "I need to ask Edalyn about it…"
Suddenly all three of them started to hear guitar music being played outside.
"You guys hear that?" King asked while Amity went to look out of the window with Luz. The two spotted Sly outside, leaning against a tree and playing his guitar. Eda and Lilith came to the window and saw him as well.
"Who is that?" Lilith asked.
"Oh Titan no, better not be one of my exes," Eda said while looking at him. "Though I don't know if I ever dated the ghost of Jimmy Hendrix, he's still bound in the ghost realm."
"No, that's… that's the Pied Piper!" Amity pointed out.
"What?!" Eda and Lilith exclaimed.
"The… Pied Piper, here?!" Lilith asked in a worried tone.
"Let me and Amity handle this," Luz told the adults. "If he wanted trouble, he would have already done something."
"Plus he did help us," Amity pointed out.
"I'll come with you two," Eda told them. "I trust you two on this, but I still can't be sure. The rest of you stay here"
And so Luz and Amity marched out of the house to confront the Pied Piper, Eda standing behind them. Sly noticed the two girls and stopped playing.
"Evening, young human witch and Ms. Goodfellow," Sly greeted the two. "I imagine you two have some questions."
Luz nodded. "We do. For starters, why are you back in the Boiling Isles?"
"Ah, so you know the story then?" Sly asked. "But to answer your question, I was sent here by Titania herself."
"Titania?" Amity asked.
"The Queen of the Fae," Sly told them. "You see, there are two kinds of Faes. The Seelies which Titania rules over and the Unseelies, which her ex-husband Oberon rules over."
"That teacher mentioned Oberon…" Luz recalled.
"Yes, Oberon has beef against you two," Sly confirmed. "He didn't take it well when you two defeated the Coachman and made him look bad, so he sent Meteora to clean out your clocks."
"Seriously, all of this because we stopped a child-trafficker from turning our friends into donkeys?!" Amity questioned.
"Oberon didn't care much of Barker, but two mortals managing to take out a former member of his Court wounded his pride," Sly explained. "But he didn't take into account that Queen Titania and her spies would catch whiff of his dastardly plot so she sent me here to put a stop to his assassination plan."
"But why you of all people?" Luz asked him curiously.
"I accepted the job because I saw it as a chance for… redemption," Sly said, looking down at his own reflection in his base.
"Is it because of the children you took from the Boiling Isles?" Luz asked him.
"Hmm, that story's followed me around for quite some time," Sly commented. "But while you may think you are familiar with the tale of the 'Pied Piper', the truth is quite different."
"What do you mean?" Amity asked.
Sly nodded to his shadow, which put on a shadow play. It showed the old Boiling Isles in silhouette, then the Piper in the middle of a crowd of witches. "During the Savage Ages, when the music was still… medieval, I did come to the Isles to help them with their Colo Colos problem." As demonstrated by the shadows, the Piper drove the rat-creatures out. "It is true that they didn't pay my fee, but… I didn't take the children." He took a pause.
"The Collector did."
The silhouette of a tall, hooded figure with stars and the moon was shown, Eda recognizing the figure. "Who's the Collector?" she asked, tensing up at the sight.
"A powerful child-like Fae," Sly explained as the shadow showed the Collector meeting with the image of Oberon who sat on a throne. "Oberon sent him to, well, to collect. Mainly the children. Originally he wanted those children taken as my fee, but the Collector had other plans."
The shadow showed the Collector meeting the witchlings. "The Collector decided to play a game of hide and seek with the witchlings of the Boiling Isles," Sly continued as the Collector turned around and started to count. "After that, no one ever heard from or seen them again." When the Collector turned back around, the witchlings had all disappeared.
The trio watched in horror. "Where did he take them?" Amity questioned.
"Not even the Collector knows where he sent them," Sly answered, which disturbed them. The shadow showed an image of Oberon and a Fae woman confronting the Collector. "The Collector was so powerful and so dangerous that it took both Oberon and Titania working together to seal him away," he said while the Collector was sealed into a mirror, trapped him somewhere in the in-between. "Even if it was the Collector who took the children, I still felt immense guilt for my role in the whole affair. So I left Oberon's Court and began to wander the Earth, taking on the form of different musicians from different eras." The shadow showed Sly walking out in self-exile, his appearance changing over time from a Victorian pianist to a suited violinist on a sinking ship and to a jazz singer in the 1920s until his current look. "But I was still haunted by what had happened in my past. Or at least I was until Queen Titania found me."
Appearing in front of the shadow Sly was Titania, who welcomed him into her Court. "She came to me to offer a chance to do some good. So I took it and joined her Court. And that's how the tale really goes, though believe whatever you like."
"So the one at fault for the missing children was this Collector… where is he sealed away now?" Eda questioned.
"Not sure, but I do know that he won't bother anyone again," Sly answered.
Luz spoke up. "Well, despite what you say, even if you're not completely at fault with what happened to the lost generation…"
"We're still not sure if you could be trusted," Amity finished.
"I understand," Sly replied. "Nobody trusts a wandering hippy. I just came here to say my piece. And to leave a warning… beware of Oberon and his Children." He started to walk into the woods. "And if you are lucky, you will never have to see me again." He glanced briefly at Puck's grave before disappearing into the woods
"Great," Eda said with a sigh in concern. "More enemies we have to worry about…"
"Don't worry, mom, whatever the future holds we will face it together," Luz assured her with a determined look. "We've gotten this far already."
"Yeah," Amity said, sharing Luz's feelings. They were both determined… yet concerned.
"There it is!" the Golden Guard said, pointing toward a doorway bathed in light at the end of the hall. "Like I said, sometimes a door is left open."
Darius felt a sense of relief at the sight of the doorway. "So this will take us back to the Boiling Isles?" he asked as he started to walk toward it.
"That or the afterlife," the Golden Guard told him as he attempted to follow Darius, only to find himself physically unable to. His legs wouldn't allow him to go toward the light. "Either way is better than being stuck here. But only you can go through. This is as far as I can go."
Darius's eyes widened as he turned toward the Golden Guard in shock. "What?!"
"I'm only your guide," the Golden Guard explained. "And… I can't leave. Because I am a part of him." He looked back to where they came. "And we're out of time."
Darius looked in the same direction and saw that the hallway they had been in… was no longer there. The recreation of the Emperor's Castle was decaying away, replaced by darkness. And in that darkness Darius found himself staring into a pair of burning eyes, the only thing he could see in the dark nothing.
He had found them.
"Go!" the Golden Guard shouted to Darius, spinning his staff and creating balls of light that intercepted the approaching darkness.
Darius hesitated. He didn't want to lose his friend and mentor again. "But-"
"There's no other way," the Golden Guard as he tried to hold the darkness back. However, it was clear that he was only delaying the inevitable. "You said that you were watching out for Hunter, right? I may not know him, but I bet he's a good kid. And it's not me he needs. It's you. So go. Do this for him."
Darius nodded at this and started to run toward the exit. He was unable to see through the doorway and his vision got blurrier the closer to it he got. When he was almost there, he turned to look back at the Golden Guard one last time.
To his surprise, the Golden Guard had removed his mask, revealing his fair complexion, blonde hair, slightly hooked nose… and blue eyes.
"Goodbye," William Clawthorne said as he smiled at Darius.
No sooner had he said that when a bestial creature with burning eyes, a deer-like skull and a red cloak leapt out of the darkness, grabbing hold of William.
"YOU ARE MINE!" the creature screamed as he pulled William back into the darkness, which devoured them both.
"William!" Darius screamed in horror.
He then heard two voices telling him to run, one of them he recognized as William's while the other voice was a woman's.
Darius decided to listen to these voices, especially as he saw the darkness rapidly expanding to devour everything in the place, including him. He ran for the door, his head pounding not just with the screams of William and the woman but with the cries of the creature as well.
Behind Darius, the creature reappeared, extending its claws toward Darius in one final effort to prevent his prey from escaping. But he was too late to stop Darius from running through the portal and into the unknown that awaited him on the other side.
Darius vanished along with the gateway, leaving the creature to roar in anger from his meal having escaped him.
The creature would now be forced to continue to hunger without interruption, deprived of the brief satisfaction that he would have been given by yet another soul…
Hunter had returned to the Emperor's Castle with his staff. He tried to head straight to his room without stopping, but on his way to get there he heard his name called.
"Hunter," said his uncle's voice.
"U-Uncle!" Hunter turned, readjusting himself. "I-I was just… um…"
"I know that you were at Glandus despite me having you pulled from the field," Belos told him. "Why did you disobey me?"
Hunter felt nervous, but he knew he couldn't lie to his uncle. "I-I'm sorry, uncle. It's just… I was just trying to help out Darius's son. But-But it's a good thing I came when I did! I ended up exposing the school being involved in a criminal conspiracy… which is not an excuse for disobeying your command. I'm sorry." He looked down, only to be surprised when he felt his uncle's hand patting his shoulder.
"You are forgiven, my boy," Belos said. "Yes, it is a good thing that the conspiracy was exposed, but I care about your safety more and while I understand you wanted to help a friend out, you still didn't have to check out the school yourself and put your life in danger. You could have just come to me if you suspected there was something going on. You can trust me with anything, Hunter."
Hunter looks up to his uncle. "I'll admit, going to Glandus wasn't the best plan I could have done with," he admitted, lowering his head and feeling reckless of his actions.
"Chin up, my nephew," Belos assured him. "You may be remarkably mature for your age, but you are still a teenager. And teenagers tend to be impulsive. That is something that cannot be helped. I was like that once too, believe it or not."
Hunter looked up to his uncle again. "I promise I'll do better, uncle."
"I just want to keep you safe, my boy," Belos reminded him before he noticed something behind Hunter, causing his eyes to widen and his irises to shrink.
Behind Hunter was a large, towering crimson cloaked figure. He had long, thick antler-like horns, red blazing eyes, and rotting flesh. Skeletal fingers hovered too closely to Hunter's face for his liking.
"Uncle, are you alright?" Hunter asked. He noticed where Belos was looking and he turned around. There was nothing there for him, yet there was for Belos.
Belos shook his head and gave a tired sigh. "Just remember this. The coven scouts may be expendable, but you are not. You're irreplaceable," he reminded Hunter. "Now go to your quarters, I must… be alone in my own quarters."
Hunter nodded. "Yes, uncle," he said before continuing the journey to his room, leaving his uncle alone.
"We need to talk."
"I know…" Belos whispered under his breath.
Outside the Hieron household, emerging from the shadows was Nicole. She took a deep breath, feeling the dark veins on her face before pulling up her hood and wrapping up her face with a scarf before silently entering her home.
"Where have you been?"
Nicole jumped when she heard her wife's voice. She turned and saw that Athena had been waiting for her. "I've been trying to call you all day. Where have you been?" Athena asked with her arms crossed.
"Oh, honey," Nicole replied, coming up with an excuse. "I was just… out busy with work. The Emperor's Coven-"
"I already called them and they said that you haven't shown up at work all day," Athena pointed out. "What could be so important that you were ignoring my calls?"
"I was- you know, it doesn't matter," Nicole tried to dismiss.
"Doesn't matter? I was trying to call you because during that school war, Boscha was maimed by one of Glandus's teachers who turned out to be a Fae!"
"What?!" Nicole asked in shock. "Is she alright?"
"Yes, she will be," Athena confirmed. "I told you this morning that I had a bad feeling about this, but you didn't listen to me. And this wouldn't have happened in the first place if you hadn't transferred our daughter to Glandus without even talking about it with me!"
"I was doing what was best for our daughter," Nicole defended herself. "I saw that Glandus was-"
"Under investigation," Athena told her, shocking Nicole. "I bet you didn't hear about that, did you? How Glandus is tied to some criminal conspiracy and how its teaching staff has now been arrested by the Emperor's Coven."
"What?!" Nicole was flabbergasted. "Are you kidding me right now?!"
"I'm not," Athena told her. "And this was the unsafe place you sent our daughter to. Our daughter got hurt because you had to put your own needs and interests over Boscha's!"
"Well, this all started because the Clawthornes-" Nicole tried to blame, but her wife scoffed.
"This is your fault!" Athena told her angrily. "For Titan's sake, Nicole, I am sick and tired of your obsession with the Clawthorne family! They are not a threat to you nor everyone else in the Isles. This isn't high school anymore, Nicole, so grow up!"
"You're starting to sound like them!" Nicole argued. "Can't you see how much of a threat-"
"I don't care!" Athena countered. "What I do care about right now is my daughter's well being. And as long as you continue to value this stupid obsession with revenge over our family, you are no longer welcome to be a part of this family!"
"You can't do that to me!" Nicole told her. "I am your wife, without me you'd be nothing!"
"AAAH!" Nicole screamed as she was thrown out of the house and onto the ground. She turned around, glaring at her wife. "You will pay for this, Athena, do you hear me!? You will regret this!" Nicole shouted, only for Athena to slam the door. Nicole tilted her head darkly, face filled with anger, before disappearing into the shadows again.
After that, Athena went to see Tom, who had come out of hiding. "I'm so sorry that you have to hear that," she apologized.
"It's fine," Tom responded awkwardly.
"Come on, let me show you to your room," Athena said before escorting Tom to Boris's old room. "Sorry that it's a little stuffy around here. Nicole had this room sealed up for the longest time."
"Eh, it's better than the streets," Tom said with a shrug as he sat on the bed. He looked around at the old posters on the walls and the books on the dresser. He laid on the bed, sighing. "It's like laying on a cloud." He looked at Athena. "Thank you for your kindness, ma'am. I really appreciate what you and Boscha have done for me."
Athena nodded. "Call me if you need anything, Tom," she told him, leaving him to settle in. Once she closed the door, she went to check up on her daughter.
"Come in," came Boscha's voice when Athena knocked on the door. Athena went in and saw Boscha resting in bed with Hogarth in her lap. "I, um, overheard you and mom arguing downstairs."
Athena sighed. "I'm sorry that you had to hear that, Pink-Eye. But it had to happen. Your mother has forgotten who the most important person in our lives should be." She walked over to Boscha and patted her hand. "I just hope that she realizes that."
Boscha looked at her mother's hand and her face fell. "Mom… we need to talk. About Boris. Before I was transferred to Glandus, I went to see him."
This surprised Athena. "You saw Boris?"
"Yeah, I did," she responded, a bit of bitterness in her voice. "You said that I am the most important person in your life. But what about Boris? How important was he to you before you and mom kicked him out?"
Athena was taken aback. "I… Boris made his choice when he walked out, a choice that I chose to respect since he was his own witch with his own life," she explained to her. "But… I do miss him. He is my first child, and I figured that I would still be here if he ever needed me." She looked at her reflection in the dresser mirror. "I… I still could have been a better mother for him, just as I could've been for you. Maybe I should go visit him, check up on how he's been."
"I don't think that's possible anymore, mom," Boscha said, taking a deep breath. She knew she had to tell her. "Boris was arrested."
This hit Athena like a ton of bricks. "What… what?!"
"According to Amity, he was involved with some kind of rebellion against the Emperor's Coven. He was arrested close to the Gland Prix. He's in the Conformatorium right now and I have no idea what's going to happen to him," Boscha explained, tears in her eyes. She looked up and to her surprise, her mother was tearing up as well.
"Oh Titan," Athena said as she fell to her knees. "I… why did I…? Oh Titan, my Boris!"
Boscha attempted to comfort her mother along with Hogarth. "H-Hey, mom, he's still alive."
"I should've been better!" Athena cried, it was the first time Boscha had seen her mother break down like that. "I should've fought for him, I should've put my foot down on Nicole sooner, I should've tried harder to stay in touch with him… dammit, I'm not a good mother!" she wailed. "He deserved better, you deserved better… I don't deserve you two. Could you ever forgive me after everything?"
Boscha was unsure of how to respond as she recognized her mother's guilt. "I'm… I'm not sure if I can do that yet… but we can work on it together. We can work to be better," she said while wiping her mother's tears away and hugging her.
"Yeah," Athena nodded, calming down. "We can."
Meanwhile at Hexside, the lights were still on in the office of Julia Traveler.
Kitsuni was noticing the new portraits in the office, which included portraits of Professor Blanc, Serkis, and Terry Grease, All with horrified looks on their faces. "Uh…"
"Yes, I don't like them either," Julia confessed. "I'm thinking of getting the Baron to take these paintings out of my hands."
"What about Meteora?" asked Sly, who was in the office with the two women.
"Don't worry, already taken care of," Julia assured him. "It's wonderful to see you again, Sly. You look absolutely stylish."
"Well, the late sixties and seventies were a favorite time of mine," Sly responded. "Unfortunately, I can't get into the new music these days. Especially Auto-Tune. But I'm not here for pleasantries." He gave Julia a serious look. "We need to talk about Amity Goodfellow."
"Amity?" Kitsuni asked. "What do you mean?"
Julia sighed, knowing that this had to happen. "This has to strictly stay between the three of us. I've had my suspicions but I can confirm that… Amity is now part-Fae."
Sly frowned with a worried expression, while Kitsuni looked shocked.
"Part-Fae?" Kitsuni whispered. "How… how is that even possible?"
"I imagine that she may have made a deal with Puck without realizing what the unintended consequences would be," Julia suggested. "This is why one should be wary when making deals with a Fae."
"I can't disagree with that," Sly said as he raised his pinky finger. "But this puts her in a very dangerous position, not only from your extremely anti-Fae Emperor's Coven, but from Oberon as well. If he ever learns that Amity is Part-Fae, he'll stop at nothing to obtain her."
"And for that reason, this cannot leave this office," Julia said, raising her pinky finger as well. "The less people know, the better. This includes not telling Amity for her own protection. She will learn eventually, of course. But we should try to put that off for as long as possible. Because once she knows… there will be no going back."
"Agreed," Kitsuni replied while holding up her pinky finger. "She's still just a child and should be allowed to live out her life as normal. At least for now."
"Then it is settled," Sly said as their pinky fingers intertwined. "Pinky swear."
"So how long are you planning on staying in the Boiling Isles, Sly?" Julia asked Sly after they shook on it.
"Not long," Sly told him. "I was about to head back, actually. The Boiling Isles is a nice place to visit… but I wouldn't want to stay here. Too many bad memories."
Julia nodded. "Well, please send my regards to your Queen the Blue Fairy," she told him.
"Oh, I will," Sly said as he got ready to leave. "Until we meet again, ladies," he said as he disappeared.
Kitsuni sighed. "Well, this has been one stressful day. I'm gonna have to check in on my little sister."
"When you do, ask her if she'd be interested in attending Hexside," Julia told her.
"I will…" Kitsuni paused before turning to Julia with her eyes widened yet again. "Wait… what!?"
On the shores of the Titan far from Bonesborough, the body of Smee was placed in a body bag. Hook and what little of his crewmates he had left placed the deceased first mate on a small boat, which Hook and his men got ready to set off.
"Smee was the best companion and first mate that a pirate could ask for," Hook said. "He didn't always agree with my vendetta against Peter Pan… yet he always stayed by my side. He was loyal until the end and I will miss his friendship dearly. He was the finest right-hand man that I have ever known and out of all the pirates I've met… he was the most… human."
One pirate played the bagpipes as the small group pushed the boat to let Smee's body be carried out to the Boiling Seas. Hook watched the body vanish into the steam, tears filling his eyes. A moment of silence followed.
After the funeral, Hook went to the nearest tavern and started downing as much apple blood as possible. He set his jug down, his thoughts on Smee. His memories of Neverland had continued to haunt him, but Smee had always been there to help him when he was at his worst. Now that Smee was gone, Hook didn't know what to do. He had nothing now. Nothing except for his hatred of Peter Pan.
And a compass that he dug out of his pocket. Hook looked at the octagon-shaped black compass with white lines and an onyx cylinder on top. He opened it and noticed the direction that the golden arrow was pointing in. He scowled.
"Unusual compass you have here," said a dark cloaked woman that sat beside him. "Most compasses point north. But not that one. Where is it pointing then?"
"Leave me be, old hag," Hook said to her, not wanting to be bothered. He closed the compass and placed it away.
"Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Grimhilde," she told him.
"I'm not interested in what yer selling," Hook said with a growl.
"Now hear me out," Grimhilde insisted. "Because what I have to offer is something that you will be unable to pass up on..."
Meanwhile, in a secluded area, McScream was being dragged down a corridor by two members of the Tarot Guild.
"Please, don't do this, guys," McScream begged while struggling. "I know I messed up, but I could hook you up at Titanwood. My name and soul is trademarked so I'm sure we could work something out!"
"Aw, shut up!" one of the guards said as he hit McScream in the face.
"Ow! Come on, guys…" McScream whined before he was pushed into a room where he found himself face to face with someone that made him pale red. "Oh my… hey there, Bossman…"
"Mephistopheles McScream," the Boss spoke to him. "I am very displeased by the outcome of the school war."
"I know, I know, it was a bust, okay?" McScream sweated, feeling nervous around the Boss, who was sitting on a throne surrounded by his wealth. "I know the auditions didn't go so well and Emily got arrested. But it was not my fault-"
"I do not care for your excuses, McScream!" the Boss yelled, scaring the former principal. "Someone needs to be held responsible for this fiasco and since you made me countless promises when you asked to be the principal of Glandus, that means the responsibility falls on you."
"But… but sir-"
"Because of your failures and stupidity, I'll let Lupe have you." The Boss snapped his fingers.
"You rang, Boss?" asked the one called Lupe, a muscular witch man who was shown to be taller than an average man. About 6 foot 7. He had a muscular physique and was covered in scars. He had pitch black hair, a beard, piercing red eyes, pale skin, and a golden tooth. Patches of hair covered his arms and chest. He was wearing a black sleeveless jacket, blue tight pants that were shredded, and black boots. He noticed McScream and grinned sadistically. "Ah, McScream, the washed up actor…"
McScream tried to make a run for it. "No! Please! I can do better next time!" he begged, only to be grabbed by Lupe, who started to drag the screaming demon out of the room. "You can't do this to me! The Producer will bail me out! Please, AAAHH!"
Sonya walked past Lupe dragging the screaming McScream and went up to the Boss. "Sir, what are we going to do about Emily's situation?" she asked while the sound of McScream's cries echoed in the distance.
"Emily knows better than to tell the Emperor's Coven too much," the Boss told while eating a piece of chicken leg. "But if she does become a problem, the Producer has people who will take her out."
This alarmed Sonya. "Please sir, that won't be necessary."
"We will see," the Boss said, his short, pointy ears twitching while bits of meat fell from his tusks. He adjusted his glasses, his large body leaned back in his throne. "For now, we'll have to lie low for a while, since there is too much attention on us. But the Clawthornes will be dealt with in time…"
Sonya nodded. "Of course, Grimhammer..."
Back at the Owl House, Luz was in her sleep wear as she laid in her bed and gave a tired sigh. Amity sat down next to her. "Are you feeling alright, Ams?" Luz asked her.
"Yeah, it's great to be back here," Amity commented. "Though, I'm a bit concerned about how we're not alone in our room…"
"Hey, if this is about Levi's sister being here, it's no big deal," Luz said, referring to Levi's sister, whose tank had been moved to Luz's room.
"No, I mean… now that we have a third roommate," Amity pointed out.
"Oh, she means me," Maya spoke up and Luz groaned. "Right…"
"I just want to know if we are still comfortable sleeping together while Maya is living in your body," Amity clarified. "I don't know how our relationship will work now you have to share your body with Maya."
"You're right," Luz agreed. "Maya, is there any way to work this out?"
"Hey, I don't want to get in between whatever lustful deeds you two do together-"
"Maya! We're not like that!" Luz said while she and Amity blushed, both feeling embarrassed.
"Okay, okay," Maya said as she continued. "Look, if you two need a private moment together, I'm fine with going into the mindscape for a bit to give you two privacy. Just as long as Luz here doesn't forget our deal."
Luz gave her a nod. "I'll never forget our deal, you have my word, Maya."
"You better," Maya replied.
Luz blinked, her eyes returning to normal. "Looks like she's giving us some privacy."
"That's good, but still…" Amity looked a bit unsure as Luz placed her hand over hers.
"Look, I believe that I did the right thing. But I promise you that we'll work through this together," Luz assured her.
"Yeah, together," Amity said with a nod as she ended up laying next to Luz.
Pulling up the sheets, the two got comfortable as the lights were turned off. Laying on the pillow, Amity and Luz looked awkwardly at each other at first. But it wasn't long before they were hugging each other again.
"I've missed you so much, Ams," Luz said, brushing her girlfriend's hair.
"I've missed you too, Luz," Amity responded, hugging her tightly. They laid together for a while until Amity felt Luz's body tense up and heard her heart rate. She looked up at Luz. "Luz? Luz?"
All Luz could hear was a quiet buzzing noise while she looked up at the ceiling. She couldn't hear anything but the noise, which muffled Amity's voice. She felt Amity's hand on her cheek, making her focus on her. "W-What?"
"I'm asking if you're alright?" Amity asked her in a worried tone. "It looked like you couldn't hear me. Is everything okay?"
"I… I don't know if… things are okay," Luz responded. "I heard a buzzing, ringing noise and… I don't know if I can sleep."
Amity held Luz's hand tightly, while Luz held onto her. "Is there anything I can do to help?" she asked her.
Luz nodded. "There's a CD player on my dresser, maybe listening to some music would help me sleep easily."
Amity nodded and used her magic to levitate the CD-player over to them. Luz chose the album she wanted to listen to and placed the connected earpiece in her and Amity's ears before they laid back in bed.
"What's the name of this singer again?" Amity asked her, relaxing in Luz's arms.
"Phil Collins," Luz responded. "He's got some great music and this one is especially a banger," she said as they listened to the song.
"Phil." Amity thought back to her Abomination that Luz named after the singer. She shut her eyes while laying against Luz, who never let go of her for the rest of the night. Luz slowly shut her eyes while resting her head against Amity's, old eighties soft rock song playing in each of their ears.
In silence and darkness.
We held each other near that night
We prayed it would last forever!
Back in Meteora's classroom, the Fae students continued playing on their devices since their teacher had not come back yet. Only one student noticed.
"Hey, how long have we been here? Is our teacher ever going to come back?" he asked.
"Eh, time is relative to us Fae. I think we're okay," another student responded.
"Best… free period… ever," another Fae said while playing her game device.
This has been the most longest chapter to date...
And thus concludes the Glandus War Saga, where Glandus lost, Hexside won, and the school war ends… but at what cost?
The dangers still lurks around our heroes, who knows what will happen after the war. But one thing's for sure, our heroes deserves a break. However, next chapter will be more of a beginning of a new saga.
So some trivia
-The song Luz and Amity listened to the lyrics are from the song "In The Glow of the Night" from Genesis's Domino Album.
-The song Luz and Sly sang against Meteora is "Don't Bring Me Down" by Blue Lights Orchestra.
-Hook's line is a homage to Kirk's line from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
-Queen Titania. Yeah, having her as the Blue Fairy is Buck's idea and that it make sense that she'd be Titania. Coincidentally enough, it is at the time of the release of the Pinocchio live-action movie released on DisneyPlus.
-Hachiman that Kitsuni mentions is the Japanese God of War, one of the most popular figures in Japan's mythology.
-Stella's first name being "Glinda" is a Wizard of Oz reference. Why she doesn't use her first name much? Well, what teenage witch with a grandma-sounding name would use it?
Maya's situation: Yeah, that needs to be pointed out. So Luz and Maya are co-owners of the body and Maya doesn't have to be contained in Luz's mind much, least until Luz could figure out an alternative for the both of them.
Meteora realizing her origins was the full intention for this arc. Oberon had no idea about Eclipsa's visits in the Isles, and having Meteora find herself in the Escape Dungeon to learn who her mother is, and with the Order now going to have a proper trial with Eclipsa, as Hunter said things really do tie together.
And of course, many of you have theorized but this chapter does confirm… Amity is Part-Fae due to her deal with Puck. We've been hinting at that for quite some time, especially with her shadow being alive.
And now the identity of the Boss is revealed…
Also to add, Kadabe now owns Dolly, and as for Horace and Asi, well, let's just say you won't be seeing those two in a long while…
UPDATE: Forgot to mention and you probably already read and reviewed, but to clarify the ending with Luz. If you haven't picked it up earlier, she's now having PTSD...
Now for the reviews:
Wolf of Wall Street: More like due to what she is…
The Great Fossil King: Yeah, it's...probably too soon tell. While Emily is sympathetic, it doesn't really mean redemption is possible.
Matteso585: 1) Yeah, everyone deserves a break. 2) At this point, it wouldn't really matter to Gus as much. He already realized that holding grudges is unhealthy and he needs to figure things out in how to deal with his mixed feelings. Gavin and Angmar had no role in mugging Levi, Bria was along with Bangles and Brian. 3) Not really, since the Emperor's Coven does have means to know the truth, considering the Emperor knows all that would go against the way of life.
Crosshot: As you see, it wasn't really the Baron, but Sly that took Rocky and called Gwen. He did make an appearance earlier on to take on Meteora. And don't worry, release your designs at your own pace.
Ultimate-drax: Yup, it was Emily's mistake to assume victory. And it's very satisfying to see Emily, Nicole, and Oberon put in their place.
Shuffollower: Well, hope you'll like the aftermath soon.
The Franninator: Nice that you've caught up.
EenE Scammer: Nice lines, and this would be a "broad strokes" canon to Luz Clawthorne canon.
Next chapter, the aftermath of the war, new changes, new normal, and… a new saga...
