Aphrodite was flipping through a plain looking book. The cover read "Soulmates: Finding Your True Love and Ways to Discover One".

After flipping through its entirety, it seemed as though she was unsatisfied with the book's contents. Her face was in deep thought, which if any other god could see they would think that it would be very unusual. Aphrodite was not type of person to be deep in thought very often because the only things that she really paid attention to was: love, love, love, and probably love.

Sometimes Aphrodite could act like a ditz, seductive, sly, cheery, frightening, all-in-all she could display a wide variety of emotions. Most of the time though, you couldn't really tell what the goddess was thinking, except when she was extremely focused. You could count the number of times that has happened on a single hand.

Beside her was a large pile of books. It was taller than her head height. The book she was holding was soon tossed into the pile as another book appeared in her hands. This process repeated itself for an unknown amount of time before her eyes lit up like exploding fireworks.

"EROS!"

In the blink of an eye, an extremely handsome man appeared beside Aphrodite.

"You rang?" Eros gave his mother a charming smile.

Completely immune, Aphrodite motioned him to read the section of the book she had pointed out to him.

"Can we try this?" Her eyes sparkled with a certain expectancy that wouldn't take no for an answer.

His face was full of question marks. It wasn't like it was impossible, but it was a strange request.

"Of course we can, but why?"

"Hm? What do you mean but why?"

Aphrodite thought about it for a second before her mouth made an "o" shape. Her face turned dead serious, and she looked at Eros dead in the eyes.

"Eros. What I am about to tell you is a top notch secret that could only be known between the two of us."

Eros's face matched his mother's seriousness to the matter.

"I understand," Eros said solemnly.

Aphrodite gestured for him to lean his ear in.

"--."

His eyes widened slowly.

"Mother. Are you sure?"

"One hundred percent."

"Oh my Gaias. This is huge!"

"Sshuush!!"

The male god fell silent at his mother's hushing and looked around for somebody.

"There's no one here for now."

He let out a sigh of relief.

"So what do we do now?" He quietly asked his mother.

"We do- Then- This- Right? You get it?"

Eros nodded his head like a chicken pecking at rice.

"Alright. Then we do this-"

The duo looked like a pair of gossiping teenagers excited about love talk.

His face formed a surprised smile. "Mother! You're a genius!"

"Hmph! Of course I am!"

"But, the hardest part is Artemis..."

"That's why she's last!"

T-T

Artemis was currently doing her duties as the carrier of the moon, pulling it across the sky. As the inheritor of the aspect of the moon, she had also inherited her duties. It was tedious and annoying, yet it was relaxing in a way. Not having to worry about anything else and listening to the wind brushing past. The winds causing her sliver hair to flutter in the wind.

She hummed a little tune that her mother had sung to her many times in her childhood. A small smile naturally formed on her face.

Although, that smile vanished as soon as a distasteful figure entered her sight.

"Eros. What do you want."

It was never a good sign when Aphrodite or Eros showed up in her life unprompted. She had lost track of the amount of times they have tried to make her fall in love with a male.

Her mind reminisced the many friendships she had made with males. They all have met miserable ends by being associated with her. It wasn't that she hated all men. It was more so that they had to earn her trust before they could earn her respect.

This could've been the reason why she had tested her guardian in such a way, but Artemis herself did not know why she allowed it to go so far. She respected his decision, but she did not trust him fully. At least, not yet.

The mist on his face was a perfect testament to it. He said it himself. It wouldn't go away unless they shared a mutual trust between each other.

Artemis didn't feel comfortable just sending him to Hades because...

He did not seem like a bad guy. Usually, she wouldn't bat an eye, but for some reason she felt like giving him a chance.

The feeling that she got from him was similar to a baby chicken. It had done nothing wrong. There wasn't a reason to kill it, yet.

The male had done nothing wrong, and therefore it didn't seem right to her. That feeling was also amplified by their interactions.

He really did seem a bit clueless a times, but he had a strong will, which she respected.

While Artemis was lost in thought, Eros was awkwardly hovering in sky.

I shouldn't have listened to mother. This isn't going to work. Artemis is scary...

Eros thought that Artemis was thinking of way to kill him.

Pluck out his wings.

Transform him into a jackalope.

Dread filled his body as the thought of being turned into a jackalope and then being hunted down like an animal sent tremors down his spine. The best thing to do was to keep quiet and pray that Artemis doesn't get angered in anyway.

Sensing his nervousness, Artemis regained her bearings and increased her vigilance.

"Go on. State your business."

"Uh. Mother. Wants a strand of your hair."

Eros looked very pitiful like a child that got caught doing something bad and was being reprimanded.

Artemis frowned. "What does that witch want."

Although Eros didn't like how she addressed his mother, he ultimately didn't say anything regarding such.

"She wants to try a new blessing that will increase the familial love within the council," his voice sounding stiff as if he recited lines on a paper.

This did not go unnoticed by Artemis as she suspiciously narrowed her eyes.

Noticing the tension, Eros quickly said, "Every other council member had already contributed and you're the last one."

To this, Artemis went silent.

"You have to swear on one thing."

"Yes?!"

"You and that witch stay out of my life for the next decade."

Eros pretended to weigh his choices, knowing full well he and his mother were going to completely break that promise once he had acquired her hair.

"Deal."

Artemis handed him a strand, and after receiving it Eros instantly disappeared.

"Annoying," she commented.

She looked at the brightening sky.

Oh shoot.

I'm late.

Artemis inwardly decided to teach Eros a lesson the next time she saw him, but for now she had to go. Quick.
