Batman Forever
Chapter 1: Who is the Riddler?
Year: 1993
Location: Gotham City
The screen cuts to Gotham City 1993 with a gong playing in the background.
It has been a year since the Christmas event with Oswald Cobblepot aka the Penguin. Selina Kyle aka Catwoman has been a wanted fugitive for the murder of Max Shrek but she has been MIA after Christmas Eve.
But since then Gotham has been quiet and during then Harvey Dent returns home after a holiday retreat for his reelection as District Attorney of Gotham City.
He had time to catch up with everything that has happened since the last laugh of The Joker from Gordon, Mayor Borg, even from his good friend: Bruce Wayne. Who funded his campaign then and now.
Bruce mostly has been occupied with his alter ego searching for Selina.
He took her cat Ms. Kitty since he found her in the snowy ally at the end of Batman Returns.
Mostly Alfred Pennyworth attended on feeding the cat while Bruce was in the: Batcave. Selina has been a no show for a whole month he doesn't understand why when he offered her a chance for a fresh start with him but Selina said no right before she killed Max Shrek.
He thought they had something together...maybe but maybe not.
But after that month rumors of a new player in town started spreading around Gotham GCPD had been finding boxes and trophies of green question marks around the city; many goons only gave them the name of this mystery individual in the shadows of Gotham.
The Riddler.
One night there was a break in at a wearhouse goons in black masks and green trim were searching shelves and crates.
They talked about why they're here and the rumors going on.
"Tell me why we're here again?" Goon 1 asked.
"Because of the guy in the Green suit that's leaving green Question marks all over the place." Goon 2 said.
"Yeah, who is he again? The Puzzler?" Goon 3 asked.
"Nah the Riddler." Goon 2 said.
"Riddler? I hear he ain't all there." Goon 4 said.
"Maybe not But no one knows who he is or what he looks like. Besides the green thing." Goon 2 said.
The goons continue searching gut then begin placing bombs around but all of a sudden one of them gets grabbed from the shadows startling another Goon he calls out to him but then he's pulled up from above.
The other goons heard him screaming and to their shock...
The Dark Knight appears before them.
This is the first time we see Batman in action since Penguin he fumbles the goons brutally punching them throwing batteries at goons knocking out their guns and still beats them up.
Batman finished them all off in a jiffy one was left conscious on the floor Batman grabs him by the arm in a tight grip to interrogate him.
"Who hired you to break in?!" Batman said.
"I don't know, the bastard called us but we never met him in person!" Goon 2 called.
"You don't want to lie to me." Batman said.
"I'm not, I swear he's a complete Enigma! But he calls himself: The Riddler! That's all I know I swear!" Goon 2 said.
"Then the next time he calls you tell him I'm going to find him." Batman said.
The Dark Knight knees him, the jaw knocking him out Batman turns around vanishing into darkness.
Minutes later GCPD arrived at the scene led by Commissioner Jim Gordon.
And his newly young partner: Lieutenant Harvey Bullock.
They find the goons beaten to death and tied together.
"All mighty. After the past four years this pet bat yours continues to interfere with Police business!" Bullock said.
"At least he caught them. That's all that matters. Reports say there was more than a break in. According to the last Riddle we found they were planting bombs." Gordon said.
"I'm not one to complain but we're way behind given we're letting your friend solve this for us and we have no clue who's behind this. Who is this Riddler anyway? Where did he come from?" Bullock asked.
"Well you got me on that. That's why we need all the help we can get. Including Batman's." Gordon said.
"Yeah but he gets all the glory." Bullock said.
Bullock didn't seem to be the biggest fan of Batman while on the force, more like a jealous type.
From behind them a man in a hat and trench coat came under the yellow tap. It was Alexander Knox the reporter.
Last time we saw him it was during the events in 1989 and during last year he was working behind the scenes of the Penguin reports off screen now he comes back out on the Riddler case.
"For the love of Mary Knox! Get your ass out of here." Gordon said.
"Just a few words Commissioner. I hear we just received another Riddle. That makes 15 this month? Is the Batman on the Police Payroll on this one too?" Knox asked.
"No comment." Gordon said.
"Lt. Bullock? What's your latest take?" Knox asked.
"You want to know? Piss off!" Bullock said.
Bullock left the scene leaving Knox unsatisfied not getting the word he was looking for.
However a Female Cop approached Gordon distressed.
"Commissioner, we just received a report from City Hall. The DA is missing." Female Cop said.
"Missing?" Gordon asked.
Now Gordon was distressed as Knox recorded this.
"Get units down to the scene! I want every lead possible!" Gordon called.
