Chapter 4: Two-Face awakens

Back at Gotham General that evening.

Bruce came to visit him again being let in by Dr. Meridian Harvey was asleep and gazing at his bandaged covered face feeling bad he couldn't save him.

"Harvey I...I don't if you can hear me. But I am sorry this happened to you. I'm even sorry I haven't been a good friend after the Joker. But I want you to know all of Gotham still supports you. You changed it in so many ways. Even though you did it with chance all the time." Bruce said.

He went silent for a moment and he pulled out the coin he found at Riddler's trap building and placed it on his bedside light heads up.

"Just hang in there Harvey. Hang in there." Bruce said.

The door opens and Chase comes in.

"Bruce..I'm sorry times up." Chase said.

"Course. Before I go, has he made any progress?" Bruce asked.

"I heard him mumbling a couple times but nothing I can understand." Chase said.

"You'll let me know if he says anything right?" Bruce asked.

"Course." Chase said.

Bruce walks out with Chase escorting him.

But soon as the door closes Harvey wakes up gasping.

The first thing he saw was his coin on his nightstand where Bruce left it.

He reached up in pain, taking hold of it and gazing at both sides.

As half an hour passed he hardly slept. He was too angry and depressed about his face hardly he'll win his reflection now but to his surprise…

...the tv on the wall turned on automatically. It was static. Harvey assumed it was a bad redemption but then…

...when the static cleared...

The Riddler appears on screen again.

Outraged Harvey rips the bandages off revealing the half burnt face.

"YOU!" Harvey yelled.

*Don't be alarmed Harvey. I only rigged this TV just to pay my respects. I mean your face was nothing personal, you just answered the wrong question. It could have been worse.* Riddler said.

"You think this is a game?!" Two-Face said.

*Life is a game Harvey. I mean Everyone treats this like a game. Joker's parade. Penguin's army of rocket penguins. That was their deck. Mine...is much more genius...but the one thing I have in common with them...was willing to stand up to Batman. In fact you only found yourself in this mess... because the riddle was tied with the Batman. And as I recall...you put your full trust in Batman after the last two times he saved this city...but where was he now...to save you?* Riddler asked.

"What do you care?!" Two-Face said.

*I care very little Harvey but Batman hardly came anywhere on the scene for you. He promised you safer Gotham, a better Gotham and look where it brought you.* Riddler said.

"He...he...lead me to this?" Two-Face asked.

*Exactly... you done more for this city than he ever did. He was jealous. You were Gotham's white knight. HE is the Dark Knight. He brought you into this just to lead you in my clutches. You had credit for closing the Joker and Penguin cases...when it was him that did them in! No credit for him he...was so jealous...now...with you here...you can't stop him...from TAKING the faith the people of Gotham gave you. Harvey, your spotlight is gone...your reputation...in flames. So... what'd you gonna do about it?* Riddler asked.

Harvey gave the screen a death stare taking his coin on his table.

"Let's see if fate thinks you're telling the truth." Two-Face said.

He flips it...and the result...Good heads.

Two Face glares at the Riddler on screen and Harvey started speaking in both personalities.

"What? How can fate believe you?" Harvey asked.

"Fate has spoken Harv." Two-Face said.

"She's never wrong I guess. Still this doesn't feel right." Harvey said.

"Who cares about right and wrong?! The coin doesn't seem to give a damn." Two-Face said.

*Are you talking to yourself or me?* Riddler asked.

"My old self. But how I play your game is how the coin decides." Two-Face said.

*Fair enough. So here's the bargain. I will help you get revenge on Batman if you help me solve the greatest riddle of all the MOTHER of all Riddles! Who is...Batman?!* Riddler said.

"Well...even if I agree...to this...fate may or may not. For example heads: We accept and tales we hunt you down and blow your damn head off." Two-Face said.

Two-Face flips the coin again in slow mode it flies in the air falling on the screen cutting to hours later Harvey is gone again.

GCPD were in his room taking pictures and wouldn't you know it...they found another Riddler trophy.

Which could be how he linked it to come on the screen question is...how did it get in there?

"Gone again. What does this Riddler want with Harvey?" Gordon asked.

"He didn't take him this time" a voice came.

Batman steps out of the shadows.

"Speak of the Devil." Bullock said.

"The trophy was here before Harvey was brought in. Eye witnesses confirmed he fought off a guard...took his gun...and...shot anyone in his way." Batman said.

"Dent did all that? But that's impossible. Why would he-" Gordon said.

"I didn't believe it either Jim. But Riddler must have gotten to him when he kidnapped him." Batman said.

"You have an answer for everything don't ya?" Bullock asked.

"Excuse me! What's going on here?!" a voice came.

Chase barged her way into the room.

Surprised to see Harvey gone and Batman in here.

"Who the-" Chase said.

"Dr. Meridian I'm police Commissioner Jim Gordon. I'm afraid I have bad news. Your patient Harvey Dent escaped." Gordon said.

"WHAT?!" Chase said.

Chase's heart sank, tanking that breaking news.

"Dent is not well Dr. Meridian. We'll find him." Batman said.

Chase took an interest in Batman; she heard much about him with Joker and Penguin and often wondered what makes him tick.

"You talk pretty tough for a grown man who dresses like a flying rodent." Chase said.

"Bats aren't rodents Doctor." Batman said.

"Really I didn't know that." Chase said.

Batman turns away and opens a window and dives out gliding.

With Chase looking out to him patterning away.
