Masao found himself rather calm in the week following taking the entrance exam, he was uncertain about his results, but he never felt anything close to anxiety over it, he had applied to the General Education course as well and he could figure out what his backup plan was from there.

And there were no major life events outside of trying out for U.A... Well, there was Mezo's odd question, considering neither of the boys were social butterflies, Masao had no idea why Mezo would go to him for advice about talking to girls when most of the girls at their school avoided him, he couldn't fault his Kohai considering what Mezo had explained of the situation though.

Midoriya-San had pretty much strong-armed him into being a part of a mini-friend group, it honestly hadn't sounded too different from how Kaori made Kiku, and Aki be friends, but he couldn't help Mezo with his situation with how emotionally tone-deaf he was himself.

Masao thought Mezo was doing a pretty good job on his own though as he noticed that Mezo was texting more than he normally did, and the few glances he had snuck of Mezo's conversation made him think the two were getting along alright, at least in his eyes anyway.

Honestly, U.A. hadn't caused him any problems until the following Monday when the results were mailed out, since Mezo had started picking up the mail for the apartment residents the multi-limbed boy had seen both of his letters as most of the South Side used the same P.O. boxes if they wanted to get mail "You tried out for U.A?" Mezo questioned, Mezo's shock plain on his face even with half of it covered up, Masao merely nodded "U.A. has fully paid scholarships, father won't have to worry about tuition." Masao explained.

"But it's all the way out in Musutafu." Mezo pointed out, Masao thrilled back "I'll work something out with Midoriya-San if I got in." He replied and Mezo didn't need more than a second to consider before agreeing "Yeah, Mido-Kun would probably pay for you to have your own apartment so you could attend." Mezo conceded "Have you already talked with Mido-Kun about going to U.A?" His Kohai inquired.

"No, he would have burnt himself out over it helping me train and study." Masao elaborated and Mezo begrudgingly had to agree, the two walked in silence for a bit before Mezo hesitantly asked "Do you think I could make it if I tried out for U.A?"

Masao turned the thought over in his head, thinking about his Kohai's skills and comparing them to the exams he took a week ago "You would have a decent chance at the hero course if you studied more." He finally decided to say, Mezo didn't verbally reply to that and stewed with this knowledge until they parted ways and Mezo muttered a quick "Good luck Masao-Senpai." before leaving.

Upon entering the apartment, Masao saw only Kaori and the newest addition to their unit, Iguchi were home, both sitting at the table with Kaori trying to help Iguchi clean off the oil on his scales, Kaori was scrubbing a bit too forcefully and Iguchi valiantly tried to smile through it, a scene that has become common for him to return to since Iguchi started at that technical school.

"How do you always get covered in so much oil Igu-Chan?" Kaori whined having gotten frustrated with a particularly stubborn stain "I don't know Kaori-Chan." He answered and he immediately got whacked by Kaori "I told you to call me Imouto-Chan Igu-Chan!" She corrected "Right Imouto-Chan!" Iguchi quickly agreed.

"I'm home." Masao announced and Kaori cheered "Ani-Chan! What's that you're holding?" She asked after attaching herself to his tail "My U.A. exam results." Masao answered, then curled his tail around her so she wouldn't fall "You're applying for U.A?" Iguchi asked, equally surprised as Mezo.

Kaori hummed confused "What's U.A?" She questioned and Iguchi blinked "It's the number one hero school in the country." He explained making Kaori gasp "Ani-Chan you're going to be a hero like the Sea panda!" She exclaimed and Masao thrilled "If I got into the hero course Kaori." He replied sitting down at the table and he opened the first letter which was from the General Studies course.

A small disk-like device was inside along with the papers and upon placing it aside on the table it lit up, both Iguchi and Kaori jumped and hid behind him while Masao just watched as the lights combined into the image of an older man in a black and red hood at a desk.

*"Hello Miyake-San, I am Noburu Yogi but you're more likely to know me as Killer Automotive and I'm the head of the General Studies department at U.A.* the man gruffly introduced himself *"You scored well on the written exam placing in in the top 20% and we'd be happy to welcome you to General Studies if the Hero course doesn't work out for you."* Noburu told him then the hologram ended, Masao looked behind him to his sheepish looking sister and roommate.

They both settled back into their places beside him as he briefly looked over his acceptance letter to General Studies with a number he could call if he wished to switch courses, it stated that he would only be available to do so until the next Monday, done with the paper he opened the one from the Hero course with a good idea about what it would say.

Another disk was inside, and it again activated once it was laid flat on the table, neither Iguchi nor Kaori jumped when the hologram started up and formed into an old woman with an X-shaped cut on her face.

*"Hello Miyake-San, as you may or may not know I am Bullet Jacker, the head of the Hero course."* she said, introducing herself in a similar way to how Noburu had, however she pulled out a file with his name on it.

*"Let's not beat around the bush Miyake, your score on the written exam was above average at 20% with 246 out 300 of answers correct. And as for your physical portion of the exam, you gained a total of 32 villain points making you come short five points of taking 36th place."* Bullet Jacker informed him, showing the rankings besides her.

Masao could feel both of his companions lose some of their earlier enthusiasm "Masao-Kun... " Iguchi said putting his hand on Masao's arm, probably in an attempt to be comforting but Bullet Jacker cut him off.

*"Naturally, however, U.A. looks for far more than combat prowess when it comes to our future students. I and the fellow examiners took notice of you and your "partner" during the beginning of the exam, for your teamwork the both of you will gain three rescue points,"* Bullet Jacker explained showing a clip of him approaching Sunny.

*"Then there were times where you took it upon yourself to intervene when another examinee was in danger, which netted you a total of four more rescue points for the first two people you helped."* she commented, again showing the relevant clips.

*"However, your crowning moment came after the 0-pointer was deployed and you went back to aid your partner in saving another examinee from what could have been a very dangerous situation, though reckless, this act showed true character and gave both of you a total of 40 additional rescue points."* Bullet Jacker informed, showing his name rising throughout the rankings and settling in third place just under the name of his presumed partner.

*"With all this taken into consideration and your actions during the exam, you Miyake-San have gained more than a passing score. We at U.A. are looking forward to seeing just how far you'll go, and we shall be looking forward to seeing you in class 1-A at the start of the semester, Miyake-San."* Bullet Jacker said with a nod before the hologram cut off "Ani-Chan's going to be a hero!" Kaori squealed latching on to his arm "You're going to be a great hero Masao-San, U.A. is one of the best hero schools for a reason and it's impressive you got such a high score." Iguchi praised looking rather excited on his behalf.

Masao was showered in praise from the two asking about this and that as the three went over his acceptance papers, Father was indifferent to his attendance which was better than the flattery in his opinion.

Returning to school the next day was odd as people were staring at him and talking about him more since the results were out, the principal had called him down to congratulate him on making it into such a prestigious school along with the school counselor who had tried to direct him to a different school "more his speed."

If Masao was being honest with himself, the way a good chunk of the student body (his peers and teachers alike) was suddenly trying to get on his good side made his "skin" crawl, the moment his acceptance into U.A. was confirmed, it was like a switch flipped in their heads and they weren't treating him like the seven-foot-tall reptilian freak Masao absolutely was.

He also found himself wondering how dumb most of his peers were to think a couple of days of insincere kindness were enough to make him forgive them for ignoring him or bullying him and be friendly. Being in U.A. was already giving him more trouble than he considered it would, even Dabi had to put his two cents into this debacle.

Perhaps it was because he was born and raised in the South Side, but it seemed like everyone thought going to U.A. was some grand achievement, the only people who weren't freaking out over his enrollment at the illustrious U.A. were his fellow South Siders older than ten and dealing with all this new attention was draining.

Masao understood that being unemotional would distance himself away from most people, but he had never felt so lost on why they were so hung up on U.A., were people so obsessed with U.A. just because All Might used to go there? That would always be brought up at some point when they tried to talk to him about his enrollment.

Masao knew All Might was typically a big deal because he's topped the Japanese billboard for three decades, a person can't do that and not be considered a big deal, but All Might was still just a person and probably on his way out of heroics given his age or would be stepping down from the top ten at least.

He had told some of his "well-wishers" that and was maybe a little delighted with the shocked and sometimes affronted looks he'd received in return, and the protests he got in return were almost childish "But it's All Might." Came up more than he thought it would and they usually didn't have anything to respond with when he replied: "So? He's human too, and he can't work forever."

But Masao knew deep down that it was all going to be small potatoes compared to what was going to come the following Friday, Midoriya-San was once a massive hero nerd and even if he wasn't as rabid about it now Midoriya-San would still be likely to overreact, and knowing that it would be useless to avoid Midoriya-San, not to mention counterproductive Masao just sat in the apartment in his and Iguchi's room.

And much like he expected, only a few minutes after classes were finished Midoriya-San had broken into his room and loudly cried "You applied to U.A. and didn't tell me!? And you got into the hero course!?" Masao just patted the greenette on his fluffy head, letting his old tutor just cry it out so they could have a civil conversation about his enrollment.
