Jesse and Bobby sat down on the couch. Lightning grabbing them some sparkling water and handing it to them as he sat in the chair across the room. Jesse asking, "Is Sally okay?.." Lightning nodded and sighed, "Yeah, well.. I have my priorities." He said as he glanced at Sally. She smiled, but fuck. He missed the racing world. She tore him away from it and now he was miserably trying to find work. Bobby then asking, "Are you really done? Permanently?.." "Racing? Yeah. I'm fully retired. Not going back." Lightning answered. Bobby frowned a bit, but tried to understand.
Bobby then stood up and asked, "Wanna catch up? I'll take you to Flo's." Lightning glanced at Sally who said, "Just don't get into any trouble." Bobby crossed his arms and snarled, "Hey, I'm not doing that. Just a drink or whatever at Flo's. I swear, Sally." Sally stared at Bobby. She didn't believe him entirely. Bobby then motioning for Lightning to come on, "Lets take a drive, McQueen." Lightning followed his friend, but he knew there was something up….
So inside Bobby's car. Bobby backed up and drive them through back to town. Passing the cafe. Lightning watched them pass it. He knew it. "Bobby?" Lightning questioned. Bobby crossed his arms. Glaring. Lightning blushed a bit and corrected, "Being with Cruz.. As her coach.." Bobby rolled his eyes then snarled, "I knew you weren't happy here." "No, I am! I love being home with Sally and finally able to enjoy our marriage. I realized how much of my life and time I put into racing and.. Sally and I missed out on a lot because of that…" Bobby's glare turned into an understanding frown. He had done the same with Jesse. But Jesse was good with coming along to all the races and parties. And Meg followed Cal everywhere. Sally was the one who always stayed behind, always working.
Lightning sighed explaining, "I'm not happy being bored all the dam time.. I can't find anything I'm good at.. Not to do for the rest of my life.." he then looked at Bobby and asked, "What are you doing now?" Bobby shrugged, "Jesse is working. I'm.. More of just enjoying things." Lightning looked away. Jesse's brows lowered, "That's fucked up. So? Is he adjusting well?" "Um.. Not really. He's having trouble with fitting in and finding work or a hobby. He's miserable, I can tell.."
