Waking up the day following the meeting Izuku was reasonably sure that things went rather well for him.
No one had demanded him to resign due to his age or quirk status and other than Hara-San's likely unintentionally pointed questions no one seemed to be that against his employment there, well Aizawa-San might be less than thrilled given his reaction to Izuku.
But as Izuku whipped himself up a quick breakfast he couldn't help being grateful that his co-workers were heroes who he could respect, and he was especially excited to be working with heroes from before All Might, people that were a rare occurrence nowadays.
All Might has been around for three decades and the man, intentional or not had made Japan far too dependent on heroes. All For One's efforts for a better quirk pool surely wasn't helping but there were far too many people out there affected by the by-stander effect whenever something happened.
And older heroes were less likely to be swayed by the passiveness All Might encouraged in the public at large, he was especially looking forward to getting to know Cherry-Bomb, or Wanaka-San better and he told his friends as much after he got home from the meeting.
Izuku hadn't expected them to know all of the heroes he'd started working with but he was admittedly disappointed none of them knew of Cherry-Bomb, she was a bit of a symbol like Midnight back in her day before she retired and her fade from popularity was sad to see.
Waving his thoughts away Izuku texted Kurogiri and walked through a portal directly outside U.A's gates for the staff entrance, he wasn't afraid of being caught since he got the chance to ask for Nezu's permission to use Kurogiri's portals as a way to and from work after the meeting, Nezu had given it without much thought considering he was going to be in different prefectures most days.
Izuku swiped his staff I.D card and walked through the doors onto the path towards the main building.
Izuku couldn't say he was anymore impressed with the grounds today than he was yesterday, it merely felt a bit indulgent to have this much land and not use it, of course legally speaking he had more land but he used every square inch of his to help people, Izuku had found five massive fields that weren't even being used for anything on the map.
It didn't take long for Izuku to get inside the main building and he followed the map looking for the shared faculty office, he had already arranged for copies of Ito-San's remaining students files to be on his desk and Izuku's plan to come early would let him personalize his space in relative privacy.
But he was unsurprised he wasn't the first to be there and when he ran into Baki Izuku asked the man briefly if he could point out which way the office was, the man had no problem and walked with Izuku a bit of the way to office with Baki asking if he had met many arboreals like himself.
Unfortunately he hadn't had the pleasure, not counting his two co-workers Izuku had only met three maybe four arboreals depending on if he counted Kamui Woods as a true arboreal, he wasn't sure if the man was an arboreal or just had plant like qualities from his quirk and it could go either way if he was being honest.
Arboreals were a rarer sub-type of plant mutation quirks after all.
It was a nice conversation either way and Izuku thanked the man for guiding him to where he wanted to go and wished the man luck with setting things up in the gym for the hero course, given it wouldn't be easy to make something that the older years wouldn't tear apart near instantly.
His students certainly would have turned any room into a disaster in minutes and he doubted the teens would have the same restraint, even if they were trying to be heroes.
Entering the room Izuku noticed the rows of desks were twice more than the number needed and he assumed that the extra desks meant the room was shared with another course but he wasn't sure which one they were sharing it with, or it could be this was just for the first years but he doubted it once he passed a desk decorated with things only Inui-San would need.
Izuku was tempted to glance at the desks but reframed from the impulse since that would be far too stalker-like and definitely would've been an invasion of property, moving through the rows it hadn't taken all too long to find the one that was supposed to be his with the stack of folders on it.
He set his bag down and quickly got to work placing small grouping of his students drawings and set his mug and thermos down on the desk, then he got to adjusting things so he'd be comfortable working there, the biggest change unsurprisingly was rising the chair's height before he settled in to check over the files on his desk.
He found a total of fifteen files for the first years, thirty-four second years and twenty-five third years for a grad total of seventy-four students in the hero course, the odd numbers would have been surprising to him if he didn't hear all about Ito-San and Aizawa-San's habit of expelling students.
Aizawa-San had more to his name discounting the years Ito worked before the man but Ito-San had her fair share, Kan-San on the other hand held the lowest expellance rate as a badge of honor, though Izuku wasn't sure where his pride of the fact came from when he told Izuku that during the meeting.
All fifteen students in the first year were Ito-San's, Aizawa-San's 1-B class on the other hand was either expelled or transferred out and Aizawa-San said he would only allow five of the former students back if they got in proper shape, and lose their arrogance for three of them.
Izuku quickly went to work pouring over the student files, starting with the third years and working his way down, only pausing in his task when he came to Masao-San's file to debate whether he should read it or not.
He eventually chose to skim through the boy's file making small mental notes of the boy being in therapy with Inui-San and a sticky note about his request to test for a provisional license this year.
Swiftly storing away the information in the files and moving onto the first years letting his mind run away with him for a bit as he came up with dozens of ideas for the possible uses and combinations while he sipped on the soup he had in the thermos.
He was quite in depth about how one student's quirk could possibly be powered since the note from his previous counselor was sorely lacking in how they made the light and sparkles and more on their lion mutations when he felt the familiar sensation of someone's eyes on him, not freaking out Izuku glanced at his thermos and made out the rough reflection of Aizawa-San.
Relieved Izuku's eyes went back down to the file in his hands "Morning Aizawa-San." Izuku greeted only to jump when he heard something hit the floor and break, whipping his head around he saw Aizawa-San had dropped his coffee cup and seemed to be just as surprised about doing it.
"Apologizes Aizawa-San, I didn't mean to surprise you." Izuku quickly apologized offering his unused mug to Aizawa-San so the man wouldn't have to go off looking for another one.
Reluctantly Aizawa-San took and placed the mug on someone's desk "It's fine Problem child- Midoriya-San." Aizawa-San said tripping up and scowling at his mistake.
Izuku huffed bemused at the name though he supposed he'd earned it given the runaround he gave Aizawa-San "You can call me that if you want Aizawa-San, it's hardly the worst name I've been saddled with." Izuku joked.
However, it must've fallen flat since Aizawa-San's brows furrowed before he went on to clean up the mess of broken ceramic, it hadn't been a big mess since it didn't have coffee in it but Izuku didn't want to leave the man to do it on his own and fetched a trash can for Aizawa-San to place it into instead of keeping the pieces in his hand.
The clean-up didn't take long and Izuku was a touch sulky once he got back to his desk, he had certainty made whatever first impression Aizawa-San had of him worse no doubt, the man had a less than positive opinion of Izuku, and causing him to break his coffee cup was probably not the way into Aizawa-San's good graces.
Izuku could deal with that though, it did sting knowing that his favorite hero might not like him personally, but he knew that it was a strong possibility.
Most people outside the districts didn't.
Despite being overwhelmingly spoiled by the people of the red-light districts Izuku knew two-toes weren't really tolerated anywhere else and to expect all of his co-workers to like him in spite of being one would be unrealistic.
At least Aizawa-San had a more concrete reason for disliking him than for being a two-toes, if the people in Yaizu were anything like Raijin was then Izuku could hardly blame him.
Izuku bit his lip as he thought about that, he hadn't seen Takami since his interview with Yamada-San, supposedly the hero had been away on a special mission but none of the Vespas had spotted him anywhere on the island.
Izuku had cried his eyes out over the interview, it was one thing to spend so much time with the man so casually... but to be so important to Takami for him to actually publicly go to bat for him and basically be the first hero to openly proclaim two-toes as people who were equal to the quirked.
He was under no illusions that what Takami said wasn't purely for him, Izuku didn't like thinking of how much trouble he probably got Takami into for that but at the same time feeling deeply touched because Takami would be even more aware of risks and decided that Izuku was worth it.
Takami had permanently taken his place as Izuku's second favorite hero after that and he had moved up rescuing the man in his plans, something that might've become even easier now that he had Nezu around to help him.
Given the practices of the commission Nezu would likely be just as opposed to them and the story of what they did to Takami would be key in dismantling the organization, especially since he doubted that Takami was the only child that they groomed.
However, finding proof of the others was proving difficult, the only other hero he could reasonably suspect of being a groomed hero was Lady Nagant, the Vespas spoke of her undercover missions that never connected to any public cases but speaking with her would be next to impossible since she had been locked in Tartarus for almost a decade on a half now.
And if what he suspected about her was true then the commission would be closely monitoring her visitors so he couldn't just-
Izuku's train of thought was cut off as someone moved the chair to his left and Izuku's eyes widened when Aizawa-San proceeded to crawl under the desk and curl up in a large yellow sleeping bag.
Izuku blinked a few times before he realized that he and Aizawa-San would be sitting next to each other and Izuku pushing down the lump in his throat turned his attention back to the files silently cursing Nezu knowing this couldn't be a coincidence, Izuku had let it slip during their first meeting that he looked up to Aizawa-San.
Thankfully Aizawa-San seemed to be just as determined to ignore him and the two of them kept to themselves for quite a few minutes, and Izuku had been able to focus on his new students profiles until other people started trickling in.
Izuku didn't recognize any of them so assumed they were from the other course and returned to searching through the files for any red flags or things to take special note of, such as one being a foreign exchange student with little knowledge of Japanese and another being diabetic, both were very good things to know before lessons began in earnest.
Oh, and another had Vertigo, he'd need to keep a closer eye on her then.
