Lumiose Gym Battles (Part Two)
After Nazz waited for almost twenty minutes, Rolf and Clemont return to the Lumiose Gym.
"Hope we didn't keep you waiting, everyone." said Clemont.
"Don't worry about it, Clemont." said Nazz, making Clemont smile. He walks to one end of the battle arena while Rolf joined Kevin and Jonny on the bleachers where Clemont's sister, Bonnie also sat.
"This is an official gym battle between Clemont the gym leader and Nazz the challenger." said Clembot. "Each trainer will use three Pokemon; the battle will end when one trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. The trainer who still has Pokemon remaining will be the winner. Let the match begin." Nazz and Clemont each pull out a pokeball.
"Go, Emolga!" said Clemont, throwing Emolga's pokeball and releasing it.
"Litleo, go!" said Nazz, tossing Litleo's pokeball and releasing her. "Litleo, use Work Up!" Litleo becomes surrounded by a red aura and her strength increases.
"Aerial Ace!" said Clemont. Emolga flies at Litleo with incredible speed while surrounded by white streaks of light and rams Litleo.
"Headbutt!" said Nazz. Litleo rams his head against Emolga, hurting it and making it flinch. "Now use Fire Fang!" Litleo pounces at Emolga while her mouth was covered in flames and bites onto it. Fire surrounded Emolga while static electricty surrounded Litleo.
"Whoa; Emolga's burned and Litleo's paralyzed." said Kevin.
"Emolga must have the Static ability." said Jonny.
"Correct." said Clemont. "Emolga, Quick Attack!" Emolga flies at Litleo with incredible speed and rams her, but not doing much damage due to its attack strength being weakened from its burn. Emolga flinches in pain from its burn.
"Litleo, try using Fire Fang again!" said Nazz. Litleo fights through her paralysis and bites onto Emolga again.
"Emolga, Aerial Ace!" said Clemont. Emolga flies towards Litleo and rams her, knocking her back. Emolga flinches in pain from its burn. Burn takes its toll on Emolga and it falls to the ground with swirly eyes.
"Emolga is unable to battle. Litleo wins the match." said Clembot.
"Awesome!" said Nazz. Litleo roars in response. Kevin hears the pokedex chime and looks at it.
"Hey, Nazz; says here your Litleo just learned Echoed Voice." said Kevin.
"Cool." said Nazz. Clemont returns Emolga to its pokeball.
"You did well, Emolga." said Clemont. He puts Emolga's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Magneton, go!" He tosses Magneton's pokeball and releases it.
"Litleo, Fire Fang!" said Nazz. Litleo fights through paralysis again and bites Magneton, dealing super effective damage to it. Magneton becomes covered in flames.
"Now Magneton's burned." said Kevin.
"Magneton, Electric Terrain!" said Clemont. Magneton releases bolts of electricity from its body and causes the arena to glow yellow.
"Litleo, Leer!" said Nazz. Unfortunately, paralysis stops Litleo. Mangeton flinches in pain from its burn.
"Thunderbolt!" said Clemont. Magneton releases a bolt of lightning from its body, and it hits Litleo, knocking her back. "Electric Terrain powers up all electric type moves." Litleo struggles to stay on her feet.
"Use Fire Fang!" said Nazz. Litleo fights through her paralysis and bites Magneton again, dealing super effective damage.
"Metal Sound!" said Clemont. Magneton releases silver soundwaves from its body and onto Litleo, weakening her special defense. Magneton loses some stamina from its burn.
"Fire Fang!" said Nazz. Paralysis stops Litleo.
"Thunderbolt again!" said Clemont. Magneton releases another Thunderbolt, and it hits Litleo, knocking her out.
"Litleo is unable to battle; Magneton wins the match." said Clembot.
"Yay, big brother!" cheered Bonnie.
"Keep going, Nazz!" said Jonny.
"Rolf believes in you!" said Rolf. Nazz returns Litleo to her pokeball.
"It's okay, little dudette." said Nazz. She puts Litleo's pokeball away. 'Okay; most of my Pokemon have a disadvantage against steel type Pokemon. I hope Kirlia can handle Magneton.' She pulls a pokeball out of her pocket. "Kirlia, go!" She tosses Kirlia's pokeball and releases her. "Use Confusion!" Kirlia's eyes glow purple and Magneton gets knocked back, but not being dealt much damage due to steel types being resistant to psychic type moves. Magneto begins floating around dizzily.
"Magneton's confused!" said Kevin.
"Mirror Shot!" said Clemont. Magneton fights through its confusion and fires a green beam from its eyes towards Kirlia.
"Double Team!" said Nazz. Kirlia creates several copies of herself. Unfortunately, Mirror Shot hits the real Kirlia, dealing super effective damage. Magneton flinches in pain from its burn.
"Mirror Shot!" said Clemont. Unfortunately for Clemont, confusion gets the best of Magneton and it fires upon the ground, creating an explosion that knocks it to the ground.
"Magical Leaf!" said Nazz. Kirlia spins around and releases glowing green leaves from her body and they hit Magneton, not dealing much damage. Burn takes its toll on Magneton and it passes out.
"Magneton is unable to battle; Kirlia wins the match." said Clembot.
"Way to go, Kirlia." said Nazz. Kirlia nods, she then freezes up and begins glowing. "Kirlia, you're evolving!" Kirlia begins to grow taller. When the glowing stopped, Kirlia was taller, her body resembled a white, flowing gown, her arms were green, and her green hair now curled over her face and down the sides of her head. Kevin takes out the pokedex and points it at the newly evolved Kirlia.
"Gardevoir, the Embrace Pokemon and the final form of Ralts. It has the power to predict the future. Its power peaks when it is protecting its Trainer." said the pokedex.
"You look beautiful, Gardevoir." said Nazz. Gardevoir smiles in response.
"Says here your Gardevoir now knows Moonblast, Stored Power, Misty Terrain, and Healing Wish." said Kevin.
"Awesome!" said Nazz. Clemont returns Magneton to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Magneton." said Clemont. He puts Magneton's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Congratulations on your Kirlia, evolving, Nazz; but let's see how she handles Heliolisk." He tosses Heliolisk's pokeball and releases it. "Heliolisk, Thunderbolt!" Heliolisk unleases a bolt of lightning from its body and it hits Gardevoir.
"Okay, Gardevoir, let's try Moonblast!" said Nazz. Gardevoir holds out her arms and forms a pink orb of energy in front of them; she launches it at Heliolisk and hits it, knocking it back.
"Heliolisk, Parabolic Chage!" said Clemont. Heliolisk releases a surge of blue electricity from its body, and it hits Gardevoir. Some of Heliolisk's wounds heal. As Nazz looked with concern, she remembers her Mega Ring.
"Hey; now that Kirlia's a Gardevoir now, I can use my Gardevoirite." said Nazz. Clemont sees Nazz's Mega Ring and a shocked look appeared on his face. Nazz closes her eyes, and an aura surrounds her body.
"Go for it, Nazz!" said Kevin. Strands of energy come out of Nazz's body while strands of energy come out of Gardevoir's body. When the two strands of energy connect, Nazz touches her Mega Stone and Gardevoir becomes enveloped in a bright light. When the light cleared, Gardevoir was almost completely white except for her hair and her body now resembled a bridal gown.
"Wow, Gardevoir, I mean, Mega Gardevoir, you're even more beautiful." said Nazz. Mega Gardevoir smiles and nods. Clemont and Bonnie look at Mega Gardevoir with stunned looks on their faces. "Okay, Mega Gardevoir, use Confusion!" Mega Gardevoir's eyes glowed purple brightly and Heliolisk gets hits hard and falls to the ground. The arena suddenly stopped glowing.
"Electric Terrain's worn off." said Clemont. "But that won't stop us; Heliolisk, Thunder!" Heliolisk unleashes a massive bolt of lightning from its body up into the air and it falls towards Mega Gardevoir.
"Teleport!" said Nazz. Mega Gardevoir vanishes just before Thunder could hit her, hitting the arena floor instead. Mega Gardevoir reappears. "Okay, Mega Gardevoir, Moonblast!" Mega Gardevoir launches a bigger orb of pink energy from her arms, and it hits Heliolisk, creating a massive explosion, making everyone in the arena cover their eyes. When the smoke from the explosion cleared, Heliolisk was on the floor, unconscious.
"Heliolisk is unable to battle. Mega Gardevoir wins. The winner of this gym battle is the challenger, Nazz." said Clembot.
"We did it!" said Nazz.
"Way to go, Nazz!" said Kevin.
"She did it!" said Jonny.
"Rolf is pleased." said Rolf. Mega Gardevoir returns to her original form and Nazz runs to her and hugs her.
"You were so awesome, Gardevoir." said Nazz. Gardevoir smiles in response. Clemont returns Heliolisk to its pokeball.
"You were great, Heliolisk." said Clemont. He puts Heliolisk's pokeball away and walks to Nazz. "I never expected a Mega Evolution in our gym battle, Nazz."
"I know; cool, huh?" replied Nazz. Clemont takes a Voltage Badge out of his pocket.
"For your victory here, I reward you with the Voltage Badge." said Clemont. Nazz takes the Voltage Badge, along with pokedollars.
"Thanks, dude." said Nazz and she kisses Clemont on the cheek, making his face turn red and making Bonnie giggle, while Kevin looked on with jealousy. Clemont shakes his head and looks at Kevin.
"I guess this means I'm battling you next." said Clemont.
"Yeah." replied Kevin.
"As soon as I get my Pokemon healed, we'll have our gym battle." said Clemont.
"I'll be waiting for you." said Kevin. While Clemont and Nazz were getting their Pokemon healed, Kevin thought about which Pokemon he would use against Clemont. Four of his Pokemon were vulnerable to electric type moves, but his Golett was part ground, making it the obvious choice to use against an electric type user. Ivysaur would be a backup plan due to grass type moves being resistant to electricity.
Soon, Clemont and Nazz returned, with Clemont returning to his side of the arena, while Nazz joins her friends in the bleachers.
"Are you ready, Kevin?" asked Clemont.
"I've been ready since I got here." said Kevin.
"Then I won't keep you waiting any longer." said Clemont. Clembot walks to the center of the battlefield.
"This is an official gym battle between Clemont the gym leader and Kevin the challenger." said Clembot. "Each trainer will use three Pokemon; the battle will end when one trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. The trainer who still has Pokemon remaining will be the winner. Let the match begin." Kevin and Clemont each pull out a pokeball. Clemont throws his, releasing his Emolga; Kevin throws his, releasing his Golett.
"Emolga, Aerial Ace!" said Clemont. Emolga flies at Golett and slams into it.
"Golett, use Rollout!" said Kevin. Golett tucks itself into a ball and rolls towards Emolga, slamming into it, and doing super effective damage.
"Use Aerial Ace again!" said Clemont. Emolga then hits Golett with another Aerial Ace. Golett comes back around and slams into Emolga with double the force it used last time, knocking Emolga to the ground.
"Keep it up with one more Aerial Ace!" said Clemont. Emolga struggles to get up off the floor, but Golett was already too close to it to launch another attack and gets hit hard enough to knock it out.
"Emolga is unable to battle. Golett is the winner." said Clembot.
"Way to go, Kevin!" said Jonny. Just then, the pokedex chimed, making Jonny look at it. "Hey, Kevin! Golett just learned Night Shade!"
"Awesome!" said Kevin.
"Keep it up, dude!" said Nazz. Clemont returns his Emolga to its pokeball.
"You take a good rest." said Clemont. He then puts Emolga's pokeball back into his pocket and pulls out another one; he throws it, releasing his Magneton.
"Okay, Golett; use Defense Curl!" said Kevin. Golett curls itself into a ball and raises its defense.
"Magneton, use Magnet Bomb!" said Clemont. Magneton releases a bunch of small bombs from its body, and they hit Golett, exploding on contact. Golett struggles to stay on its feet.
"Do something, Kevin!" said Jonny. Kevin looks at Golett with concern.
"I gotta end this." said Kevin. "Golett, try using Dynamic Punch!" Golett clenches its fist, gathering a lot of energy into it, making it vibrate wildly. It punches at Magneton, managing to hit it with such destructive force that it releases a strong shockwave which forced everyone to shield their eyes from the debris it blew all over the place.
"Whoa! That's one powerful punch!" said Nazz.
"I wouldn't want to be hit with that!" said Jonny.
"Neither would Rolf." said Rolf. When the dust cleared, everyone was surprised to see Magneton, though badly damaged, was still conscious.
"I should mention that Magneton has the Sturdy ability, which makes it so it can't be knocked out in one hit when it's at full stamina." said Clemont.
"Talk about a handy ability." said Kevin.
"Okay, Magneton; use Mirror Shot!" said Clemont. Magneton reflected light into a beam of energy towards Golett, hitting it hard enough to knock it out.
"Golett is unable to battle. Magneton is the winner." said Clembot.
"Way to go, Magneton!" said Bonnie.
"Poor Golett." said Nazz. Kevin returns Golett to its pokeball.
"You did great, dude." said Kevin. He puts Golett's pokeball back into his pocket, then pulls out another one. He throws it, releasing his Ivysaur. "Ivysuar, use Tackle!" Ivysaur runs at Magneton and rams into it, and thanks to the large amount of damage it took from Golett's Dynamic Punch earlier, it was too weakened to handle the Tackle and passes out.
"Magneton is unable to battle. Ivysaur is the winner." said Clembot.
"Right on!" said Jonny.
"Good work, Ivysaur!" said Nazz. Ivysaur smiles, then freezes up.
"You okay, dude?" asked Kevin. He got his answer when Ivysaur started to glow.
"Hey, Ivysaur's evolving!" said Jonny. Everyone watches as Ivysaur started to change. When he finished, his body was bigger, wider, the flower bud on his back was now fully bloomed and had four palm fronds coming out of it. Jonny takes out the pokedex and points it at Kevin's newly evolved Ivysaur.
"Venusaur, the Seed Pokemon, and the fully evolved form of Bulbasaur. After a rainy day, the flower on its back smells stronger. The scent attracts other Pokémon." said the pokedex.
"Cool!" said Jonny. "And the pokedex said it just learned Petal Dance!" Rembering the Venusaurite that he got from Professor Sycamore, he takes it out and tosses it to Venusaur where it lands in the flower on his back.
"I should get something like a necklace to put my Gardevorite in so my Gardevoir can wear it around her neck." said Nazz.
"We should all get stuff to put our Mega Stones into also." said Jonny.
"After this gym battle, dude." said Kevin. Meanwhile, Clemont returned his Magneton to its pokeball.
"You did well, Magneton." said Clemont. He puts Magneton's pokeball back into his pocket and pulls out his last one; he throws it, releasing his Heliolisk.
"Time to shift into high gear, Venusaur." said Kevin as he touches the stone on his Mega Ring. Energy surges around Kevin and Venusaur, which then link together. Venusaur becomes engulfed in a bright light which then fades, showing that the flower on his back was bigger, its stem was taller, there were vines around it, there were new fronds on Venusaur's back, and a pink flower on his forehead.
"Whoa!" said Jonny.
"So that's Mega Venusaur, huh?" said Nazz. Clemont was surprised by this new development.
"This is not going to be easy." said Clemont. "Heliolisk, use Quick Attack!" Heliolisk rushes at Mega Venusaur and rams his face.
"Oh yeah?!" replied Kevin. "Mega Venusaur, use Razor Leaf!" Mega Venusaur releases a barrage of leaves from his body which hit Heliolisk, damaging it.
"Keep using Quick Attack!" said Clemont, knowing that practically all of Heliolisk's moves weren't going to do much to Mega Venusaur. Heliolisk moves quickly towards Mega Venusaur and rams him again.
"Mega Venusaur, use Petal Dance!" said Kevin. Mega Venusaur stands on the tip of one of his front feet and starts twirling around, making petals come out of him and hit Heliolisk, doing a good amount of damage to it. Heliolisk kept using Quick Attack while Mega Venusaur's Petal Dance was still going. After some back-and-forth attacks, Heliolisk reaches its limit and passes out.
"Heliolisk is unable to battle. Mega Venusaur is the winner. That means the winner of the match is the challenger, Kevin." said Clembot.
"Righteous!" said Kevin as Mega Venusaur returns to his original form.
"Kevin did it!" said Jonny.
"Way to go, dude!" said Nazz.
"Rolf is pleased." said Rolf. Clemont returns his Heliolisk to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Heliolisk." said Clemont. He puts Heliolisk's pokeball back into his pocket and walks over to Kevin who was rubbing Venusaur's head. "You were great, Kevin."
"Thanks, dude." said Kevin. Clemont pulls a Voltage Badge out of his pocket, along with some pokedollars.
"As proof of your victory, I present you with the Voltage Badge." said Clemont.
"Awesome." said Kevin as he takes the Voltage Badge and pokedollars from Clemont. "I just got the Voltage Badge!" His friends gather around Kevin to congratulate him. As the four celebrated, Nazz feels something tugging on her shirt. She turns and looks down to see Bonnie looking at her.
"What can I do for you, little dudette?" asked Nazz. Clemont suddenly had a nervous look on his face.
"I need you to take care of my brother." said Bonnie, surprising Nazz.
"Isn't he a little too old for a babysitter?" asked Nazz. Suddenly, Clemont comes running over and a robotic arm and hand comes out of his backpack and picks up Bonnie.
"Excuse us while we get my Pokemon treated!" said Clemont as he runs towards the gym doors with Bonnie. "Bonnie, I told you not to do that a million times!" The group watch Clemont and Bonnie leave with confused looks on their faces.
"What was that about?" asked Nazz.
"I got no idea." said Kevin.
The four have all successfully earned their fifth badges. What awaits them as their Kalos adventures continue?
