Authors Note: I am going to be bringing in characters who are part of the young Avengers and a few from the X-Men franchise. I will be taking liberties with these characters so they might not align with their cannon character.

Skye was looking through her closet and dresser, picking out clothes to pack in the suitcase that was on the bed.
Steve knocked on her door.
"Come in," Skye said.
Steve went in and noticed the half-empty suitcase on the bed. "We are leaving in ten minutes. You should be packed by now. Do you need any help?"
"No, I'm almost done," she said as she went into her bathroom, grabbed a few things, and brought them to her suitcase.
He watched her, noticing she seemed to be a bit frazzled. "Skye, you okay?"
"I'm fine," Skye lied.
"Skye, if you're nervous about the conference, it's okay," Steve said.
Skye let out a breath.
"What about it is making you nervous? Maybe I can help," Steve said.
"There are going to be a lot of young people with abilities. And I feel like most, if not all, will have been training with them for much longer than me and will have better control over theirs than I do. I'm worried I'm going to embarrass myself," she said. "Or you," she mumbled.
"Peanut, no. You will not embarrass me for not having complete control of your abilities. I am incredibly proud of how hard you have worked to get the control you do have. And you are far more in control than you give yourself credit for," Steve said.
Skye nodded slowly.
"Promise," Steve said.
Skye nodded again. She finished packing and zipped up the bag.
Steve grabbed the suitcase from her bed. "Come on, let's go."
Skye grabbed her backpack that had already been packed and went with him. The two of them were the last in Happy's vehicle.
Not all the Avengers were going. Peter, Tony, Steve, and Skye, as well as Scott Lang with his daughter, Cassie, were riding with them.
"You excited?" Peter asked.
"Yes," Skye said.
"She's nervous, too," Steve said from his seat across from them.
Skye sighed.
"How come?" Tony asked.
Skye shrugged. "Don't want to talk about it."
They drove a little over an hour until they got to the Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. When they got there, they were led on a tour of the place.
"This place is so cool," Skye said as they were shown around. "Why didn't I end up getting sent here?"
"It was suggested when we first found out about you," Tony said. "But someone didn't think it was the right idea."
"And it wasn't. This school is for gifted youth who don't have support from family or close friends. For those who need to be kept safe. Skye is safe at the compound," Steve said.
"You were right," Tony said.
"Wow, Tony admitting he was wrong? Where is the camera when you need it?" Peter said with a smirk.
Skye giggled.
Tony shook his head. "Both of you zip it."
Skye and Peter looked at each other. There were smirks on both their faces, but they didn't say anything else.
After the tour, they were led to their rooms.
After settling in. Skye looked at the schedule of events that had been left in their room. There was a meet and greet in an hour.
"I can go to the meet and greet?" she asked her dad.
"Of course, that's part of why you're here," Steve said.
Skye smiled and changed into a nicer outfit starting to get ready. When it was time to go Steve went with her. She went into the room and looked around. On one side of the room, she saw Peter talking with a few people she didn't recognize by a table that had finger foods and drinks. She saw Cassie across the room, also talking to a couple of people. She was about to join Cassie when a girl stopped her.
"You're Skye Rogers!" the girl said excitedly
Skye smiled. "I am, sorry I don't know your name."
"I'm Kamala Khan, super name Ms. Marvel," Kamala said.
"Well it's nice to meet you, Kamala," Skye said. "You know anyone else here?"
"Depends on what you mean by know. I can name everyone, but I haven't been introduced to everyone," Kamala said. It was in her nature to know everything she could about everyone.
Skye smiled. "I'll introduce you to who I do know." Skye led the way to Peter and introduced them. Before long Skye had met almost everyone. She grabbed herself some punch from the table and looked around. The only kid she hadn't met was standing off to the side, watching them. Skye went to go over to meet him and felt an overwhelming feeling of anger. She took a breath and continued going over to him.
"Hi, I'm Skye," she said.
"Yeah, I know who you are," the teenage boy said snarkily.
"Damn, I don't even know you and you don't like me, that's a new one for me," Skye said.
"Yeah, and that's not going to change anytime soon," he said.
"Ah, I see you have met my brother," Thor said.
Skye looked up. "Thor, hi. Wait, your brother?"
"Yes, he is Loki from another timeline," Thor said.
"But he's a teenager," Skye said.
"Yes, the multiverse is quite confusing. I am unsure how he is here as well," Thor said.
Skye nodded.
"And while we figure it out, I have been put as responsible for him," Thor said.
"And, as I said, I don't need a babysitter," kid Loki said.
"I hear that," Skye said.
He snorted a laugh. "Is that some lame attempt at bonding? Humans are so stupid," he said before walking away.
"Ouch," Skye said.
"Don't let him get to you," Thor said, squeezing her shoulder. "He is very angry and is taking it out on everyone."
Skye nodded. "So, this is why you haven't been around the compound?"
"Yes, I have been in Asgard with him," Thor said.
"Cool," Skye said.
"I do think you two will get along great when he gets past being angry all the time," Thor said.
Skye smiled and nodded. "Do you want me to help with that?"
"No, it is not your responsibility," Thor said.
Skye nodded again.
"Go, have fun with the other young people," he said.
Skye was looking around deciding who to talk to when Dr. Strange came into the room with a girl who looked about her age.
Dr. Strange nodded to Skye when he noticed her looking over at them. Skye went over.
"Hi, I'm Skye," she said to the girl.
"Hi, I'm America," the girl said.
Skye smiled.
"Skye is Captain America's daughter," Dr. Strange told the girl. "America and I met in my multiverse travels."
"What are your abilities?" Skye asked.
"I can create cross-dimensional portals. I have superhuman strength and flight," America said. "Yours?"
At this point, Dr. Strange went to join the other adults at the side of the room where they were just watching the kids interact.
"Superhuman strength as well as speed endurance, durability, and reflexes. Accelerated healing. As well as empathy and empathic elemental absorption and manipulation," Skye said. "You can travel the multi-verses without issue?"
America shrugged. "Sometimes there are problems. Empathic elemental absorption sounds interesting."
Skye chuckled. "Depends on the day. I am still trying to get complete control of it. It's connected to my empathy, so sometimes when I feel other people's intense feelings it causes my abilities to happen when I don't want to. And, of course, when I'm feeling very intense emotions it's the same. I caused a whirlwind in my bedroom once when I was very overwhelmed," Skye said.
"Well, I want to see it," America said.
"Um," Skye said, looking up at her dad, who was distracted talking to someone Skye didn't recognize. She looked back at America and nodded. She took a breath and created a small ball of fire in her hands. She held it for a few seconds before she put it out and started to do the same with water, creating a ball of water in her hands.
"Damn," America said. "That is awesome."
Skye smiled and nodded. "So, can you bring people along when you multi-verse travel?"
"Yes," America said. "I open portals, and anyone can go through it."
Skye nodded. "Now that is epic."
America smiled. "It's pretty cool."
"Have you ever met one of your variants?" Skye asked.
"I don't have any," America said. "Because I can travel between worlds, I guess there aren't any."
"Oh," Skye said.
"I'm guessing you want to meet one of yours?" America asked.
"Well, yeah. Dr. Strange has met at least one of my variants, and she seems to have a very different life than I do," Skye said. "And my mother is alive in this other universe."
America nodded. She would do anything to see her mothers again, so she understood why Skye wanted to see hers. "Did you grow up with your mom at all?"
Skye shook her head. "She gave me up at birth to protect me. My dad didn't even know I existed until about a year ago. And we didn't know I was his daughter until a few months after that."
"Were you adopted?" America asked.
"No, I lived in foster care until my dad got custody of me," Skye said.
Their conversation was interrupted when the attention of everyone in the room was brought to a scream in the room. It didn't take everyone long to see the snake and more were starting to panic. Skye noticed that Loki was standing in the corner watching the scene and smirking. She looked around and locked eyes with Thor. She nodded towards Loki. As soon as Thor saw what his kid brother was doing, he sighed.
"Loki," he said loudly as he went over to the teenager.
Loki smirked at his brother.
"Stop," Thor said sternly.
Loki ignored his brother.
Strange waved his hand, and the snake disappeared.
Thor grabbed his brother by the collar of his shirt and dragged him out of the room.
"Conjuring, that is pretty cool," America said.
Skye chuckled. "I don't disagree. But he was being a shit to scare people."
America chuckled and nodded.
"He is here because of multiverse travel. Do you know him?" Skye asked.
"Yes, I do. He and his brother have visited with Dr. Strange, trying to figure out how he is here. And I've been around during that time," America said.
"Do you plan to stay in this universe long?" Skye asked.
"For now, but part of there only being one of me is I go where I'm needed," America said.
Skye nodded.
"I kind of wish I could just stay in one place," America said.
"Yeah, it must suck, having all that pressure," Skye said.
America nodded. She wouldn't admit that while that was part of it, she also just wanted to be in one place long enough to make connections with people.
The meet and greet continued for another hour before everyone started to head off toward their rooms.
Skye got back to her room with Steve.
"You had a good time?" Steve asked.
"I did," Skye said.
"Dr. Strange told me about the girl he was there with," Steve said.
"America, she's cool," Skye said.
"You talked about her abilities?" Steve asked.
"Yeah, she can fly, has super strength, and can open portals to other universes," Skye said.
Steve nodded. "Pretty cool."
"Yeah," Skye said.
"I noticed you showing off your abilities," Steve said.
Skye looked down.
"Skye, you're not in trouble. I should have told you already. Here, as long as you're not hurting anyone, you can use them," Steve said.
Skye looked up at him and smiled. "Really?"
"Yes, you're around others who have abilities. You all want to show off a little; it's okay," Steve said.
"Okay," Skye said. "Did you know about Thor's brother coming from another multiverse?"
"I did," Steve said. "I knew that's why he has been in Asgard."
Skye nodded.
"Why?" Steve asked.
"I get bad vibes off of him," Skye said.
Steve nodded. "He's an angry kid. He has been taken from his universe and has been brought to one where our Loki has been locked up."
"Loki is in prison? Why?" Skye asked.
"He has done a lot of things he shouldn't have; he has used his abilities to hurt a lot of people," Steve said.
"Thor has never mentioned that," Skye said.
"It's hard for him, he is his brother regardless of what he has done," Steve said.
Skye nodded.
"But because of it, Thor is trying to get through to Loki's kid variant so when he goes back to his world, he doesn't make the same mistakes," Steve said.
"Makes sense," Skye said.
"You don't let his behavior get to you though. He hates everyone right now," Steve said.
"Thor told you what he said to me?" Skye asked.
"He did," Steve said. "He could tell you were hurt by it."
Skye looked down.
"You know that you're not always going to get along with people you have to interact with, right?" Steve said.
"Yes, I do. But I'd prefer it if people would actually get to know me before they make judgments about me," Skye said.
Steve nodded. "It's possible he knows you in his world. And, maybe, he is assuming you are the same as that variant."
Skye let out a huffed laugh. "Great."
"If he gives you a hard time you can let Thor or me know," Steve said.
"I can handle it," Skye said. "If I run to you every time he is an ass to me it's not going to make anything better."
Steve nodded. "Okay, I can understand that. But if it gets to be more than you can handle…"
"I will come to you or Thor," Skye said.
"Thank you," Steve said.
It was getting late, and it was going to be an early morning, so Skye grabbed her pajamas out of her suitcase and went to shower and get ready for bed.
