(Abigail's POV)

*As we were leading the handcuffed Dark Legion out of the theater, I saw a purple male muscular Tasmanian Devil with yellow eyes, beige skin, & a white fur pattern on his chest wearing green gloves & green boots standing on the wall surrounding the city. Two brown dog-like creatures were with him*

Knuckles: Thrash? What are you doing here? And what are you talking about?

*As soon as she saw him, Lara-Le started to run towards Knuckles*

Lara-Le: Knuckles! You're here. I'm so glad . . .

*Knuckles held up his hand to stop her*

Lien-Da: What are those things doing here?

Thrash: Below this city is a gene bomb of you echidnas' own makin'. When it detonates you'll get a taste of what you did to me people many, many years ago. You'll all become beasts, and this echidna-free world will wake as though from a bad dream.

*I started to get worried. He sounded serious. Everyone else just looked perplexed, surprised, or skeptical*

Remington: He can't be serious!

Lara-Le: Constable! We can't afford to guess wrong. Gather everyone and begin an immediate evacuation of the city.

Tails: But if you stay here, won't you get caught in the blast too?

Thrash: Thanks for your concern, Mate. The gene bomb's been calibrated with echidna DNA, so it'll only affect them. You and I are perfectly safe to stay and watch the fun. *he jumped down from the wall & landed in front of us* The only thing I have to do now is keep you echidna trash from leavin'.

*He then gave out a sonic scream, knocking some of us back. Sonic & Knuckles held their ground*

Sonic:*getting ready for a spin dash* Sorry, I didn't quite catch that, could you speak up?

*He then hit Thrash in the stomach with a spin dash*

Abigail: Team Fighters will back up Sonic!

Huckleberry: Chao-Chao!

Julie-Su:*to Remington* Get everyone out the city while we hold him off!

Remington:*to Lien-Da* You heard here. Let's get moving.

Lien-Da: Because a crazy Devil Dog thinks he can mutate us? Are you serious?

Remington: Can you afford to underestimate another threat like Enerjak? I know I can't.

*Lien-Da was quiet for a few seconds. Then she held up her cuffed wrists*

Lien-Da: It's decided then. We don't have a choice.

*Remington unlocked her handcuffs*

Remington: Indeed, we don't.

Lien-Da:*to her men* We are getting all of our people to safety. Is that clear?

Remington:*to his men* The E.S.T. is to cooperate with the Dark Legion. I want everyone on the same page.

Saffron: And I'll come along to help! *into her headphones* Don't worry, 'Su. I'll make sure everyone plays nice.

Julie-Su: Thanks Saffron. Keep the comm open just in case.

Saffron: Just stay safe, okay?

Julie-Su: Yeah, you too.

*By the time all the echidnas had left, we had Thrash on his two Devil Dogs seemed to be guarding him*

Knuckles: I guess I shouldn't be surprised to see you here, Thrash.

Amy: You two know each other?

Knuckles: It was in Downunda. He was with the local Freedom Fighters.

Sonic: Well, not every Freedom Fighter is a hero.

Abigail: Just like those Sand Blaster jerks.

Thrash: Can't say I'm a fan of Eggman, and I'm always willing to help out some Freedom Fighters. But that Warp Ring you let me keep sure came in handy. Thanks to that, I was able to get back to my quest.

Julie-Su: You did seem fixated on echidnas. So that's what your "Quest" was for? Finding our home so you can wipe out every last one of us? What did we ever do to you?

Thrash: THIS! *the Devil Dogs attacked us. Huck & I dodged them. so did Tails & Amy. Sonic went in for another spin dash, but Thrash caught him* That won't work twice, Mate. *he threw Sonic to the side* I'd have preferred not to fight you Freedom Fighters. This fight ain't yours, anyhow.

Abigail: It is when you attack our friends!

Huckleberry: Chao-Chao!

*Julie-Su kicked away one of the Devil Dogs, but didn't notice the one behind her*

Amy: Julie-Su, look out!

*She slammed her feet on its back, bringing it to the ground*

Julie-Su: Well done. I see my protégé has come a long way.

Thrash: Sis!

Abigail:*in her mind* Sis?

*Knuckles grabbed Thrash by his neck & pushed him to the ground*

Knuckles: I don't care what you think about echidnas! Turn that bomb off or you will regret it.

*Suddenly, we heard Saffron's voice on Julie-Su's comm*

Saffron:*off-screen* This is bad. The echidnas are surrounded and under attack by about a hundred Devil Dogs. They won't make it to the docks at this rate!

Julie-Su: Understood. Help is on the way. *she turned to us* The others are having trouble with more Devil Dogs,

Knuckles: Sonic, go help. This guy's not going anywhere.

Sonic: You got it, Knux. You two play nice now! *he was about to leave, with Amy in his arms, when he noticed I wasn't with them* Abby?

Abigail: Huck & I'll stay here and help Knuckles and Julie-Su. You guys get going!

Huckleberry: Chao-Chao!

Sonic: Alright. Jus be careful!

*He zoomed away. Thrash then got Knuckles off of him with his sonic scream. But he was able to turn around in mid-air & land a punch in the ground next to Thrash, who dodged it*

Thrash: . . . Nice moves, Mate.

Knuckles: I'm not your Mate.

*Julie-Su tried using the Warp Ring, but it wasn't working*

Julie-Su: C'mon . . . Of course it wouldn't work now . . .

Thrash: Heh, ain't happenin'. In the bomb's energy field, Warp Rings are just oversized jewelry.

Julie-Su: Fine. Team Fighters has things handled anyway.

*She was about to fire her laser gun, but Knuckles stopped her*

Knuckles: But first, how about we get your side of this. How did your family turn out this way?

Abigail: I was curious about that myself.

Huckleberry: Chao-Chao.

*Thrash was quiet for a minute. Then he told us a heartbreaking story*

Thrash: Your kind came to Downunda. To them, we were lab rats. They took us, changed us. We had no say. We weren't even tricked. Echidnas wanted to fight their enemies, and my people were guinea pigs to that end. So many were changed that even after the echidnas were gone, few of my kind were born without their alterations. I am the last of my heritage. The last untainted Tasmanian Devil. But thanks to the Warp Ring, I eventually found where you were all hiding, and the means to evenin' the score, of givin' you a taste of yer own vile science.

*I was shocked by what I just heard. I couldn't help but feel a little sorry for him*

Knuckles: That's . . . Look, none of us were aware echidnas settled in Downunda more than once, nor of the crimes they committed. And I'm truly sorry about what happened to your people. *suddenly, I heard a cracking sound. I looked down & saw cracks forming* But the echidnas here today aren't responsible for those crimes, and they shouldn't be punished for it. They don't even -

Julie-Su: Knuckles, we need to move! The ground, it's -

*Suddenly, the ground under our feet broke apart, creating a hole & we all fell down in it. Knuckles was able to glide down & caught both me & Julie-Su*

Knuckles: You two alright?

Julie-Su: Eh, more or less.

Abigail: I'm okay.

*All three of us landed safely on the ground, but Thrash landed on his face*

Julie-Su: Your landings could use a bit of work though.

Knuckles: Oh, I'm sure you could do better.

*Huck flew down to us*

Huckleberry: Chao-Chao!?

Abigail: Yes, Huck. I'm fine.

Knuckles: Now, let's find a way out of here.

Julie-Su: Uhh, guys? You might want to see this.

Knuckles: Why, what is . . . It?

*We had landed in a room full of weapons*
