*Knuckles, Julie-su, Huck, & I looked around the room we had landed in*
Abigail: Knuckles . . . What is this . . .?
Huckleberry: Chao . . .
Knuckles: I'm not sure. Guessing it's something that wasn't meant to be found.
*Nearby, Thrash slowly stood up*
Thrash: Ya really wanna? These are the secret sins of Albion. Proof of yer kind's rottenness. Weapons of mass death, failed experiments remains, torture tools. All used on me lot & countless others. Take a look yerself if ya don't believe me. You've done it all before, and you can easily do it again. That's why yer all takin' a diver here, wiped out in a flash so history won't repeat. All wrapped up in a neat little bow. 'Cept for that Finitevus, but he'll get his due too.
*Huck & I looked around at the weapons, feeling a little scared*
Knuckles: I knew the Echidnas weren't perfect, but I never imagined they were capable of this . . .
Suddenly, Thrash threw a machine part at Julie-Su & it hit her in the face, knocking her to the ground*
Knuckles & Abigail: 'Su!
Huckleberry: Chao!
*All three of us ran to her*
Thrash: Ya better step it up. Only a few minutes left 'til
*Huck & I stood in front of 'Su while Knuckles helped her stand up*
Abigail: Thrash, stop! This isn't going fix anything!
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao!
Knuckles: Listen, Thrash, I know what it's like to be alone. And I am truly sorry for the atrocities your kind faced in me past. But you've put my family and their home in danger, and I'll do whatever it takes to protect them.
*Just then, Saffron flew in from the hole above*
Saffron: Knuckles, 'Su, Abby, everyone's finished evacuating! Do you need me to get you out?
Knuckles: Good work, Saffron. But I have to stay.
Saffron: But you're in serious danger if you don't leave!
Knuckles: If I leave, now Thrash could escape with the bomb and pull another stunt like this tomorrow. I need to setting this here and now.
Saffron: Then I'll help too!
*I nodded & drew my hook swords. Huck got ready to fight*
Thrash: I admit, your nobel impresses me, echidna. It's a shame that'll get lost in the blast.
Knuckles: Whatever. The time for talk is over. You are going to us where the bomb is. Let's do it. *he & Thrash's fists collided with a loud "Wham!" Julie-Su fired her laser gun, I swung at him with my swords, Huck flew around his head to make him dizzy, & Saffron bounced offhis fist when he tried it grab her. Knuckles then punched him in the jaw, knocking him to the floor* Get up. We're not done yet.
*Thrash slowly got up*
Thrash: Heh, never expected to meet me in match here, and in the an Echidna no less . . .
Knuckles: Thrash, my people are willing to atone for what the Echidnas of the past did, in some ways, they already are. But if they're destroyed here, there's no hope for either of our species.
Abigail: Many of the people around the world has lost someone they loved. *I thought of my friends & their families* While some have come back . . . *I thought back to Shadow & Maria* There are some that can't come back. But even though those people are gone, the people they've left behind have found ways to move on, while keeping their memories of those lost in their hearts.
Julie-Su: The people here today aren't responsible for the actions of their forebears. They're just doing their best to survive.
Thrash: Look . . . You don't . . . It's not that simple -
Knuckles: If you stand down and tell us where the bomb is, I'll do everything in my power to help restore the Tasmanian Devil race.
Thrash: But y - you can't - You're my - You're . . . *he screamed & slammed his fists on his ground* You . . . You swear you'll do that?
Knuckles: I swear.
*Thrash stood up*
Thrash: . . . Then we haven't a moment to lose. Come on.
Knuckles: Lead the way.
*He started following Thrash*
Saffron: Thrash, you -
Thrash: Just shut it and get moving before I change my mind.
*We ran down a hallway lined with pipes*
Abigail: How do you know if we're heading in the right direction?
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao?
Thrash: I hooked up the bomb to an underground station. *at the end of the hallway was a door* We just need a follow the pipes.
*We opened the door & what we saw inside made our eyes go wide. Standing next to the bomb was someone I'd hoped to never see again*
Dr. Finitevus: Why, hello there.
Knuckles: Finitevus!?
Dr. Finitevus: Sorry to interrupt, but I've taken the liberty to disarming the bomb for you. Though I must say, I'm impressed a savage like you had the brainpower to not only find my lab, but put together something so complex.
Thrash: Why you . . .! *he charged at Finitevus* I'll tear you to shreds!
Abigail: Thrash, don't!
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao!
*But it was too late. He charged at Finitevus, who dodged & opened a Warp Ring. Thrash fell through it & Knux went in after him. The Ring closed. Julie-Su pointed her gun at him & I got out my hook swords*
Julie-Su: What are you doing here, Finitevus? I get the feeling were no safer with you than we were with Thrash.
*Finitevus opened a Ring underneath the bomb*
Dr. Finitevus: My, my, such ingratitude. I'd expect a bit more refinement from Dimitri's "fine" lineage. I've simply come to take back what's mine. And now that I have it, I must be going. Ta-ta!
*He opened a Ring underneath himself & disappeared through it with the bomb. Julie-Su then used her Warp Ring to bring back the boys & then we went back to the surface*
*Sometime later, morning had come as we were all standing at the docks, waiting for the evacuated Echidnas to return. Thrash opened his Warp Ring & guided his family into it*
Thrash: I should get going. No one over there would be happy to see me here with you.
Amy: Wait, are you going to leave Albion alone now?
Thrash: So long as they show the same integrity as your mate has. Imagine holding you to your word, Knuckles. Seeya 'round. I'll be waiting.
Abigail: And you take care of yourself, Thrash.
*He looked at little surprised at my words at first, but then he smiled*
Thrash: I will. See you around, luv.
*He went into the Warp Ring & it disappeared*
Knuckles: We'll make this right, somehow. *the hovercrafts docked at the docks & Knuckles' Mom ran towards her son, with happy tears. one of the Legion soldiers was holding a baby in her arms* Here they come. Am I really ready to do this, hon?
Julie-Su: I know you are.
*Lara-Le then hugged him*
Lara-Le: Knuckles! Thank goodness you're alright!
Remington: Well done, Guardian. I knew you'd take care of things.
Knuckles: Hey everyone . . . There's something I need to tell you all. I was Enerjak. I was the one who took away your cybernetics and sent half of you are Albion. While I was tricked and brainwashed by Dr. Finitevus, I still fell for his trap. There's no excuse for what I've done. On some deep, dark level, my actions were based on some idiotic notion of what I thought was right. Taking away the Legion's cybernetics and destroying the Dingo civilization, it was like I was fixing everything. But I screwed everything up. And I know that I can't ask for your forgiveness after all of this. Imagine asking only for - *suddenly, Lara-Le pulled him in for another tight hug* Oof!
Lara-Le: Of course I forgive you, dear! Don't second-guess yourself like that.
Remington: The Matriarch is correct, Guardian. I can't speak for what happened to you, but my ideals were also corrupted by Finitevus' machinations. Like you, I also doubted myself. But the people have put their faith in me still, just as I'm sure most will for you.
*All the citizens of Albion gathered around Knuckles*
Knuckles: You guys . . . Thank you . . . I promise I won't let you down.
Wynmacher: Everything worked out in the end, Knukie. We can at least be thankful for that. Now all the remains is the threat posed by the Legion.
Sonic: Nah, pretty sure they're not a big deal now since we totaled all their weapons and junk.
Lien-Da: You what!? D - Do you realize what you've done!? *she fell to her knees, looking terrified* When Eggman finds out we've failed, he'll raise this city and everyone here. Even the Legion won't be safe. You've killed us all.
Remington: After everything you've done, Lien-Da, you have it coming. But the rest of our people don't.
Knuckles: Look, we have to stop this violent back and forth, once and for all.
Tails: What if we make it look like the Legion won? If the D.E.L. sends a staged transmission where it seems like they captured the city, Eggman's will leave Albion alone.
Remington: That . . . That could work! So long as the Legion agrees we'll have no troubles finding now.
Lien-Da: N - No, that would never work! Eggman wouldn't be tricked so easy, and I won't let you get away with - !
Remington: Should we start fighting again, then? To the last bitter exhausted man?
*She looked back at her soldiers & saw that none of them had the strength to continue fighting. The she reluctantly shook hands with Remington*
Lien-Da: It seems I have no choice. The Dark Legion . . . Will cooperate . . .
Lara-Le: Despite the hardship we have endured recently, let this day be celebrated for years to come as the day the citizens of Albion and the Dark Legion resolved their differences and came together as one, united echidna people!
*We all cheered. Huck did a loop-de-loop in the air*
*Later, we were all celebrating in the streets of Albion*
Crystal-La: To think I would live to see this day . . .
Komi-Ko: It's incredible, though I'm not sure how long this truce will last.
Crystal-La: Well, I hope these old bones will be ready come what may.
Komi-Ko: Speaking of which, exactly how old are you, Miss Crystal-La? *Crystal whispered into her ear* You're what!? But how do you look so young?
Crystal-La:*giggle* Every girl has her secrets.
*Just then, Huck & I notice Julie-Su & Remington going down an alley. I follow them & saw Lien-Da, sitting on an old box*
Lien-Da: What do you want? If you've come to gloat, then save it!
Julie-Su: As fun as that sounds, we have more pertinent things to talk about. Remington and Lara-Le knew everything you've done up 'till now. How you wiped my memory, how you tried to assassinate Dimitri, they know it all.
Lien-Da: Tried to - Wait, Dimitri is still alive!?
Abigail: Yes. I will not tell you where he is, but know that he is in a place where you will never be able and reach him.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao.
Remington: And Julie-Su knows the truth about her Father.
Julie-Su: If I had my way, we'd expose you for the monster you are. But Knuckles thought you should get one last chance to get your act together.
Remington: We have a chance to all finally live in peace once and for all. We don't have to be legionized or non-legionized. We're all Echidnas. Shouldn't that be enough?
Julie-Su: You can work with Remington and you. Between the three of you, imagine sure can figure out what to do about Eggman.
Abigail: I'm sure we can all find a compromise.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao.
Lien-Da: Ah yes, bringing back the council. "Democracy in Action!" Except you didn't ask me.
Julie-Su: Well, as a show of good faith, how about handing over that control chip of yours. And don't pretend you lost it in that explosion.
Lien-Da: . . . I have no idea what you're talking about.
*'Su got ready angry & took out her gun. She pointed it at Lien-Da's forehead*
Julie-Su: Give it to me now.
Lien-Da: Wha - What are you doing? You wouldn't -
Julie-Su: Don't. Push. Me.
*Lien-Da took a micro-chip out of her hair. Remington took it & crushed it in his fist*
Lien-Da: What do fools think you're doing? I spent my whole life working to lead the Legion! I deserve this!
Julie-Su: Wha - You still lead the Legion! You just can't brainwash them now.
Lien-Da: You think it's simple! You have no idea! No idea what being a leader is like!
Remington: I beg your pardon? You have no right to claim anything about leadership. You think being a leader is all about you. That it's blindly accumulating power regardless of how many of your own people you kill. That's you. That's your legacy. Now your past is finally catching up with you, as it catches up with every Echidna. You are arrogant and shortsighted to think that you'd be one exception. Any leader would know how to maintain order without mind control and murder. Any real leader would not sell out to a more powerful tyrant when things got difficult. And any real leader would know how to solve this strife between our people. You're not a leader, Lien-Da. You are just a pathetic, vindictive child. Grow up while you still have the chance.
*We started to leave the alley as she fell to her knees*
Julie-Su: You know, if you ever wondered why our Father loved me more . . . You always cared about one thing, and one thing only. It's no wonder.
*She didn't say anything & just started to cry. We left her like that. I felt a little sorry for her, but I knew she didn't want any pity, especially from me. Once we left the alley, seeing the opportunity, I turned to Julie-Su*
Abigail: So, Julie-Su, what did you want to talk about?
Julie-Su: Oh! Um . . . *she looked at Knuckles, who motioned for her to continue. she sighed* I just wanted to say . . . I'm sorry for what said to you during the whole Enerjak fiasco. I know you didn't have anything to do with that, but I was angry and I guess . . . I just needed to blow off some steam. Again, I'm sorry.
*I was surprised to hear that at first. But then I smiled & hugged her*
Abigail: I forgave you for that a long time ago.
*She wriggled out of my grip*
Julie-Su: Really?
Abigail: Yes. I don't blame you for taking your anger out on me. I know I would have done the same if it was Shadow. *I held out my hand to her* So? We cool?
*Su looked surprised at me, but soon smiled & shook my hand*
Julie-Su: We're cool.
*We then hugged again*
*Later, it was time for Team Fighters to be moving on*
Tails: And that does it! Ready for launch!
Amy: I'm glad we were able to help, but I just wish we could save Sally already. I miss her
Abigail: We all do.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao . . .
Sonic: Hey, we've pushed the Death Egg to the point of exhaustion. Next time I'm sure we're end things once and for all.
Cobar: Thank you all for everything. The Doctor was headed to his Artic base in the Northern Tundra to refuel. He'll likely to there a while.
Tails: Thanks! We know where he's headed with our tracker, but it sounds like he won't be able to make an escape this time.
*Sonic & Knuckles shook hands*
Sonic: Well, it's been fun, but we've got to get back to saving Sally.
Knuckles: Good luck, and give Eggman an extra punch in the face for me.
Sonic: You got it.
*We all waved everyone goodbye as we flew away & headed towards the Northern Tundra*
(Third-Person POV)
Meanwhile, in the Virtual Zone, a pink female echidna with blue eyes, peach skin, & wearing gold rings on dreadlocks, a white robe, & white sandals, a male echidna with brown eyes, peach skin, & wearing red, orange, green, & brown beads on dreadlocks, a white robe, & brown sandals, & Merlin Prower were watching the whole thing*
Athair: It seems like everything is under control. For now.
Aurora:*to Merlin* Your nephew and student have both come a long way. You must be very proud.
Merlin: Yes. Very proud.
Athair: Still . . . That stone around that Abigail girl's neck. I have never sensed anything so powerful. It may even rival the Chaos Emeralds.
Aurora: I agree. All that power in that tiny stone concerns me. I don't even want to imagine what would happen if anyone with an evil heart gets their hands on it.
Merlin: Yes. That's why, during my travels these past few months, I've been searching for the origins of the stone and for a way to destroy it, should the need ever arise.
Athair: I highly suggest that we keep a close eye on the stone and make sure it never falls into the wrong hands.
*Aurora & Merlin nodded in agreement*
