(Abigail's POV)
*All of us, including Razor, were the fighting the monsters invading the temple. Razor sliced at one & it disappeared*
Razor: Wha - !? Is that normal?
Sonic: No idea. It's like they're made of the gunk that's been seeping out of the planet!
*Amy hit one with her hammer & it disappeared*
Amy: But then - Sonic you breathed in that stuff when - !
Sonic: Not now!
Amy: But what if - !?
Sonic: Not a priority right now, Amy!
*I sighed. Why was he so stubborn*
*Rotor punched one & sliced one with my swords*
Rotor: There! That's the last of them!
Abigail: Don't relax yet, Rote!
*Coral came out of the temple*
Coral: She's right. There will be more. Many more. They come from the Anostos Rift by the hundreds every night . . . And the shield that protects us all is gone. Because of me.
*Razor put his hands on her shoulders*
Razor: Enough of that! None of this. The monsters, the pollution, the earthquakes, is your fault! The jerks in Meropis have been stressing you out for weeks over! It's their fault they broke your focus! You can still perform the sacred rites. You can still bring the shield up. I know you can.
Coral: . . . You've never lost faith in me.
Razor: You've never lost faith in me.
*I smiled. I totally ship them*
Coral: Then it's not a matter of "I can." It's that "I must."
*Sonic came up to them*
Sonic: Hold on a minute. If those things are attacking here, that means, the city's got to be overrun! We've got to help!
Razor: I'm not leaving Coral.
Abigail: Okay, then how about this? You stay here and guard the temple, while the rest of us go to Meropis and see what we can do to help. Huck, you stay here and help look after the Chao.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao.
Amy: I'll stay here and back up Razor. You, Abby, and Rotor go do your hero thing.
Sonic: Always do. Stay safe.
Amy: You too, handsome.
*I rolled my eyes. Sonic zoomed back to one of the huts & came back out with three Air Charms. He was wearing one & the other two to me & Rotor*
Sonic: Here's an Air Charm, buddies.
Rotor: Next best thing to gills!
Abigail: Yep. Let's go rescue some fishy folks!
*We drove into the entrance pool & swam to Meropis, only to find the city swarmed with monsters*
Sonic: Oh man. That doesn't look good.
Abigail: Let's hurry!
*We made to the city just in time to save Captain Striker from being eaten by a giant eel-like monster*
Sonic: Still mad we came her uninvited?
Captain Striker: Yes. But you have my thanks all the same.
*He sliced the monster in half with a blast from his spear*
Sonic: No prob. Now that we're all buddy-buddy, you mind sending some back-up to the shrine?
Captain Striker: I'm not worried about the shrine right now! Meropis and her citizens come first!
*I sliced at get one monster & Sonic kicked another*
Abigail: We understand that, but you need the shrine to activate the shield! If the shrine gets destroyed, then there no shield. And if there's no shield, we're all doomed!
Captain Striker: There's no telling if the Priestess will get her act together in time! I know I can count on my troops!
Sonic: Former Priestess, remember? You got her fired! She's still trying to save the city, y'know. But she won't have any without some help! You need to send troops to - !
Captain Striker: I can't spare - GET DOWN!
*We both ducked when he sent a blast from his gauntlet, that destroyed a monster behind us*
Sonic: Dude!
Abigail: Thanks for the save.
*He swam away*
Captain Striker: I have to organize my forces. If you're going to help us, pick a battleground and fight!
*Rotor swam up to us*
Rotor: Is he going to send help to to Razor and Amy?
Abigail: I'm not sure. He's a hard guy to read.
Sonic: How's it look for the city?
Rotor: The city guard's tough, and they're managing okay so far.
*He threw Sonic like bowling ball & he spin dashed some monsters. I sliced more with my sword*
Abigail: . . . But they can't keep it up all night.
Sonic: I getcha. Well, we'll keep it up until Coral gets the shield up. 'Cause she will. These monsters are pretty strong, but not too bad . . .
*Suddenly, a giant monster, holding a giant hammer, came crashing through the city*
Abigail: You just had to say something, didn't you?
Sonic: Sorry.
(Third-Person POV)
*Meanwhile, back and the shrine, Amy & Razor were still fighting the monsters*
Amy: Coral!? Sweetie!? Any time now!
*Pearly was trying to get the Chao to a safe place without getting too close to the Chao*
Pearly: O - Okay . . . You Chao n - need to get to safety. Go on now! Sh - Shoo! *one of the Chao started crying & ran to her* Eek! Stay away! Shoo somewhere else! Don't come near - *suddenly, a monster rushed towards them* Meeeeek!
*Amy hit the monster with her hammer*
Amy: Pearly, what are you doing out here? You should be hiding somewhere safe!
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao!
Pearly: I - I was going to! C - Coral taught me it's our job to take care of Chao!
Amy: So what's the hold up?
Pearly: I - I can't! The Chao are just so . . . So . . . *she looked at them & cringed* Creepy!
Amy: Don't ever tell Cream that.
Huckleberry: Chao . . .
Amy: Listen. I've been in some bad situations. Even deadly. But I've fought through them to protect the ones I love. We're all counting on you to be brave and get the Chao to safety so we can focus on our jobs.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao.
Pearly: O - Okay . . . I'll try. *she started marching like a soldier & the Chao followed her* F - Follow me, little Chao! One-two! One-two! N - Not too close!
Razor: Amy! One got past! It's heading for Coral!
*She turned & saw one of the monsters running towards the shrine*
Amy: Oh, no you don't! *she ran after it & hit it with her hammer* Whew! Too close . . .
Pearly: Amy! Amy!
Amy: Pearly. Look, I promise the Chao won't hurt you -
Pearly: Not that! I got them inside, where we keep the Air Charms! Three are missing!
Amy: Yeah, Sonic, Abby, and Rotor took them.
Pearly: I know! They took the wrong ones! The three missing Charms weren't fully charged!
(Abigail's POV)
*The three of us fought against the monster*
Sonic: Yeah! I'm not even on land, and I'm still faster than - !
*Suddenly, none of us could breath. We looked at our Air Charms & saw they were out of power*
Abigail: Get us to the surface!
Rotor: Don't waste the last of your Air Charm!
*He took both of our hands & tried to pull us to the surface. But the monster swam after us & grabbed our legs. It slammed us to the ground. Rotor tried to fight it, but Sonic & I were struggling to breath. The monster grabbed Rotor. Suddenly, I heard Sonic growling like a wild animal & his teeth turning into fangs*
Abigail:*in her mind* Oh no! Not again!
(Lacey's POV)
*Sally, Antoine, Tails, & I ran back through the tunnel we came in. Fighting off all the Badniks that got in our way. Nicole was also with us in her full body form. Tails even made a silly face at a camera to let Eggman know that we're had been here*
Sally: C'mon team! Just a bit further and we're home free with the Chaos Emerald!
Antoine: It would have been much easier if we had stuck to ze original plan and not been needing to fight our way out . . .
Lacey: Where's the fun in that?
*Antoine sliced at a bat Badnik, freeing a bunny*
Antoine: N - Not that I am complaining, of course! These? Feh! This is nothing for one with such amazing skills as myself! *he swatted at a few from above* Stop touching ze hair, you annoying pesky pests!
*I rolled my eyes. Yeah, right. We were getting close to the exit*
Tails: There's the way out!
Sally: We're almost in the clear! Just -
Nicole: Look out! *she got in front of us & blocked incoming lasers with a firewall. we all ducked behind some boxes & mine carts* Take cover, quickly! I don't think I can -
*Suddenly, a laser hit her in eye*
Lacey & Sally: Nicole!
*She went back into the handheld computer. Antoine quickly used his sword to bounce it over to Sally. An big robot was coming towards us, firing lasers willy-nilly*
Lacey: Is that - ?
Tails: An E-1000! They're mass-produced sharp shooters!
Sally: Then we need to keep it distracted while we take it down! Hit it hard and fast. Now!
*Tails flew over the robot & towards the door, while the rest of us attacked it. Antoine sliced it with his sword, I kicked it in the head, & Sally plunged her Ring Blades into it's chest, destroying it. We all ran towards the exit*
Sally: Nicole, are you all right?
Nicole: I'm fine. The Ring's energy was just depleted. Sally, I -
Sally: We'll talk later. Right now, let's just get this Emerald back to Sky Patrol.
*Soon, we were back on Sky Patrol, showing everyone the Chaos Emerald we found*
Cream: Ooh, it's so pretty! And you found it in a whole cave of crystals? May I hold it?
Big: No, Froggy. No touching the Chaos Emerald.
*Tails let Cream hold the Emerald*
Bunnie: Mah stars, look at that rock! So, Sugar-Twan, were you planning on upgrading my wedding ring?
Antoine: Oh! Ahem . . . Ma Chere . . . I mean to say, of course. You are worth something so grand. But . . . Erm . . .
Bunnie: You know I'm pokin' fun. Right, Sugar?
Antoine: Mea oui! *nervous laugh* Ahem! Of course. We're I to for you ze Chaos Emerald, it would be ze green one. To match your eyes, non?
*Sally & I noticed Nicole staring out of the window*
Nicole: Sally? Lacey?
*We went up to her*
Sally: Hey, Nicole.
Nicole: I wanted to thank you.
Sally: For what?
Lacey: Yeah, you saved our lives back there.
Nicole: For . . . Helping my see earlier. Really see. Sometimes in that tiny computer, I forget . . . What it's like. To see, to feel. To live. Even if we let Dr. Eggman learn that we now have the Chaos Emerald he sought, and I'm sure that will have consequences, given the circumstances, I now believe it was the right thing to do. After all, what's the point of restorating the planet, if we can't save the things that make it special.
*Sally & I didn't say anything. We all just looked out the window to watch the beautiful sunset*
