Call Me Ainz

Momonga held up the glass box as his eyes narrowed at the small beetle within. Yep…it was a beetle alright. Apparently, from what Demiurge and Albedo had told him, the local fauna and wildlife around the tomb was similar to Yggdrasil's in some key ways, but also different enough to bring credence to the fact that they were, in fact, within an entirely new world. Momonga took their words for it, and was slowly coming to terms with the fact that he had been brought to an entirely different world, not Earth, not Yggdrasil, this 'new world.'

Momonga sat the box containing the insect down on his desk before closing his eyes to think. A new world…they had to be cautious. If this land was anything like Yggdrasil, there were bound to be ultra-powerful opponents around every corner. Collecting information was the first thing they needed to focus on. Maybe they could find some locals who could give them a summary of what they needed to know? He'd also have to experiment a little more on the actual game mechanics that had transferred into this realm, what abilities and magic acted like now that this wasn't a game. Oh! He should also turn off the blizzard on the Fifth Floor! He didn't want to waste the gold needed to keep it running, not when he was unsure whether or not they could actually make any more cash…

Momonga stopped for a moment and blinked his eyes open as a weird sense of confusion overtook him. Since when was he this thoughtful about stuff? He'd only ever graduated elementary school, yet here he was thinking up strategies and plans all by himself? Maybe his intelligence points actually did transfer over. Momonga shook his head out of that train of thought, he really didn't need to have a mental breakdown over whether or not he was still himself or if he was more game avatar than human…he really didn't need to think about that…

"Is everything alright, Lord Momonga?" Lupusregina Beta asked from beside her master.

Momonga just sighed at the maid's concern, "Nothing Lupusregina, I just have so much on my mind at the moment…" There was knocking at his door. Momonga's eyes blazed to life as his face naturally morphed into its iconic smirk, "Come in."

Sebas opened the large doors and marched into the large office with the grace and poise that only a butler could have, "Forgive me for interrupting you my lord, but it seems that a human settlement not too far from the tomb is currently under attack. I worry that if these forces were to travel far enough, that they might discover Nazarick."

Momonga furrowed his brow at the information, before standing and walking over towards the butler, "Show me."

With the order, Sebas gave a quick clap of his hands and summoned a large floating mirror in front of them. The butler fiddled with the mirror a little, scrolling through the swathes of green and forestry until it clearly showed a moderately-sized village in the middle of a slaughter carried out by armored figures, "Here it is, my lord."

Momonga wasn't quite sure how to handle the magical item, but not wanting to look like a fool in front of his subordinate, quickly raised one hand and swiped to get a zoomed in view of the carnage. The Supreme Being hummed to himself as countless villagers were cut down and killed before his very eyes. He wondered for a moment why he didn't feel anything when seeing the bloodshed in such clear detail, but quickly realized that a mix of his avatars mindset and the fact that he'd seen his fair share of death on Earth meant he probably became desensitized towards violence. Even violence that was as brutal as this.

Momonga scoffed at the sight before turning away from the looking glass, "They're far too distant from the tomb to be perceived as a threat. Unless they actually start heading for Nazarick, we don't have any reason to prepare for battle."

Sebas gave a short bow, "Of course, my lord." Before looking at the bloody sight with a slight glimmer of pity in his eye, "But could we perhaps send out a few of our troops to assist the humans? I fear that if we sit by and do nothing, that the entire village might be wiped out."

Momonga gave a curious glance at the butler, before his sharp teeth formed a grin. Sebas was truly like his creator, Touch Me. Touch Me had always had a strong sense of justice and empathy…unfortunately he couldn't afford the risk, "I'm sorry Sebas, but we can't risk people finding out about Nazarick just to save a few humans. Maybe if we had a better idea of what exactly is out there, and how strong some of the warriors are, we could send some aid their way. But as for right now, we simply can't take the chance."

If Sebas was disappointed by the words, he hid it impossibly well as he bowed, "I understand completely, Lord Momonga. Forgive me for wasting your precious time with such useless rubbish."

"Don't apologize, Sebas. You thought that this event warranted my input, and so you asked for it. Never be afraid to ask me for advice when you believe you may have trouble on your hands, or if you believe you have information that would benefit Nazarick." Momonga added, causing both Sebas and Lupusregina to think for a few seconds.

As Momonga turned to sit back down behind his desk, Sebas spoke up again, "My lord, if we help these humans, they may be willing to give us in depth information about this world. If we show them mercy we could build a good relationship with them for future endeavors. Is that not reason enough to help them?"

Momonga turned back towards the butler with his glowing red eyes sparkling in thought. He made some good points…but to fight off an entire battalion of troops with unknown strength? Momonga looked into Sebas' eyes, and for the briefest of moments, thought he saw Touch Me staring back at him. Momonga swiped his hand towards Lupusregina, "Send word to Albedo to meet me outside the village! This needless bloodshed ends now!"

The maid formed a magic circle over her ear and did exactly that as Momonga chopped his hand downward and summoned a large pink portal that would lead him directly outside the village. He couldn't believe he'd just leave an entire settlement of innocent villagers to die. Had he truly lost his humanity that much? Had he truly become his avatar rather than Suzuki Satori? Touch Me would be so disappointed…

"My lord-!" Sebas spoke only to stop himself and give a bow instead, "Thank you."

Momonga simply smirked, "It's like you said Sebas, this village may be useful to the tomb. It'd be such a shame to see it get destroyed." Then he stepped through the portal.

Enri did her best to run as fast as she could through the brush, the rapid pitter patter of her sister's feet right beside her. Tears rolled down their faces as they bolted away from the village. Her parents were dead, her mother decapitated before her very eyes, her father giving her and her sister the slightest of gaps to escape, before he too was killed.

And it was all for nothing. She could hear the clanking metal of armor and the shouts of soldiers growing nearer. It didn't matter how much she pushed herself, how fast she ran, how pumped full of adrenaline she was, she was just a girl from a backwater village, and these were trained soldiers.

"There they are! Get them!" Enri couldn't help but scream as the knights exploded out of the forest brush and swiped at her with their blades. She brought her sister close to protect her, before feeling the stinging pain of metal cutting through her back.

"E-Enri…" Nemu said, fresh tears falling from her eyes as her older sister fell on top of her, the smell of copper permeating the air.

The two soldiers looked at the two children, their eyes full of nothing but sadistic indifference to the brutality they caused. One of them spoke up, "Finish them quickly, we gotta get back before the lieutenant has our asses."

"Yeah, yeah, I've got it." The other one stated, his tone completely apathetic to the evil he was committing. He raised his blade, ready to silent the two siblings once and for all, ready to sever the lives of two innocent girls…only to halt his swing as a swirling pink portal erupted into existence not even a few feet from where he stood.

"W-what?" Enri asked, the girl still half delirious from the large wound on her back.

The soldiers looked on in shock, before quickly shifting their expressions into horror as a tall man with blazing red eyes and a skull-shaped chest piece walked out of the portal with his serrated teeth forming into a large grin. Momonga slowly shifted his gaze over the sight in front of him, two girls being attacked by two knights, one in critical condition, he needed to act fast. Momonga raised one of his ring-covered hands and summoned a large magic circle within his palm. He couldn't afford to underestimate the strength of these two knights, but he also needed to preserve his mana for the rest of the fight, a Seventh-Tier spell should be a safe bet, "Essence of Darkness!"

The soldier that stood over Enri and Nemu could do nothing as a pulse of pure black engulfed his form, turning him into dust instantly. The other soldier fell to his ass at the display, complete fear enveloping his form, "N-no! How did you-! Help!"

Momonga blinked at the pile of ash in front of him. That was just a Seventh-Tier spell…he died from just a single Seventh-Tier? Momonga was brought out of his thoughts when the other knight scrambled to his feet and began to run away in terror. The Supreme Being raised his hand once more and summoned another magic circle, this one significantly smaller than the last, a Fifth-Tier spell, "Life Sever!"

The knight fumbled on his feet, before falling to the ground, completely dead. Momonga had to hide his surprise at the act. Seriously!? Even noobs knew to have some instant death protections on them, or to at least have some enchanted armor to block such magic! Just how weak were these guys!?

Enri and Nemu looked up at the tall figure as if they were looking upon an actual god. Enri, through the pain, blood loss, and fear, managed to squeak out a question, "W-what are you?"

Momonga looked down at the two and gave the most warm smile he could give, "You have no reason to fear children. I have come to bring an end to this needless violence." Another portal popped into existence right where Momonga's was, allowing a feminine figure wearing black armor and wielding a large war ax to walk out. Momonga chuckled at the sight, "Thank you for coming on such short notice Albedo. It fills my heart with ease that I have you here as protection."

Albedo instantly bowed at the words, "You're far too kind my lord! Whenever you call for me, I promise that I will be there!" Albedo then tilted her helmet to look at the two girls that were laying motionless in silent fear. Albedo scoffed at them, "On your knees filthy humans! You stand in the presence of the King of Nazarick, Ruler of the Dark, and God of the Night! Show him some respect!"

Immediately the two terrified girls snapped to their knees and bowed to Momonga. Enri clenching her teeth at the pain her large wound gave her, "Our apologies, great one! Thank you so much for saving our lives!"

Momonga's lips thinned at the sight. He was uncomfortable with the NPC's of Nazarick worshiping the very ground he stood on, he really didn't need the denizens of this new world to do the same…honestly it was kind of embarrassing. Though Albedo didn't appear to be satisfied with the thanks, if her raised war ax was anything to go by, "Pathetic, my lord, allow me to dispose of this trash for you."

Momonga felt a bead of sweat roll down his neck at the reaction, "That won't be necessary Albedo, it would be a waste if they were to die right after I went through the effort of saving them."

Albedo immediately lowered her ax and gave a deep bow to the Mage, "Of course, my lord! Please forgive my brashness!"

"You're forgiven." Momonga said half-heartedly, before turning and furrowing his brow at the large gash on the older girl's back, "My, my…that's quite the wound you've got there, here." Momonga reached into his inventory and pulled out a smooth vial filled with ruby red liquid and held it out for her to take, "Take this potion, it should heal you up just fine." Momonga had collected an entire bank's worth of potions within his inventory, using one or two to heal them would be fine.

Enri hesitantly grabbed the bottle and looked it over with a skeptical gaze, "This-this isn't a potion. The potions my friend makes are blue, not red." Her face scrunched up in fear, "I-is this blood!? Do you want me to drink blood!?

Her sister hugged her with tears in her young eyes, "No Enri, don't drink it! Let me do it instead!"

Momonga felt another bead of sweat roll down his face. Blue potions? He'd never seen blue potions before, only red ones. And did they really think he was going to make them drink blood after everything he did to rescue them? Geez, what a headache. Albedo's grip on her ax tightened at the refusal to drink the potion, the gift of her beloved being treated in such a way causing her blood to boil, "You ungrateful ingrates! That is a gift from a Supreme Being himself! Show your gratitude and drink it!"

The fear that Albedo gave them instantly shot down the doubt in their minds as Enri popped open the vial and gulped down the contents. The young girl's eyes widened as a tangy yet sweet taste traveled down her throat, before her life-threatening injury closed up with magical sparkles, leaving her feeling better than she'd ever felt before, "Oh my goodness! I-I'm healed!"

Momonga chuckled at the reaction and pulled out two small horns from his inventory and tossed it over to the young girls, "And here, blow into these horns to summon a small group of goblin warriors. They should protect you if you're in danger." Momonga then pointed towards the corpse of the knight on the ground and lifted it up with a magic circle, "Create Undead: Death Knight!" The body twitched, it jerked, before it turned into black viscous sludge, the scent of death permeating the air. The sludge reformed into a colossal skeletal zombie clad in black armor and holding a massive tower shield in its hand. The being roared as Momonga did his best to hide his sheer shock at the sight. Holy cow! That's not how summoning undead worked in Yggdrasil! Momonga cleared his throat and commanded the large beast with as much of a confident tone as he could give through his surprise, "Death Knight! Go towards the village and kill any person wearing knight's armor! Leave any who are not alive!"

The undead roared its death rattle, before jogging off with impressive speed towards the village, its massive form barrelling through the trees as it went. Momonga pursed his lips in thought as he couldn't help but chastise himself. He'd told the Death Knight to kill all the enemies…meaning that he probably wasn't going to get any answers from them…great. Momonga sighed in annoyance before motioning for Albedo to follow. Hopefully at least one of the soldiers can actually beat a Level Thirty-Five summon, he really wanted to question those guys.

"W-wait!" Enri called out, causing Momonga to stop in his tracks and look over his shoulder. Enri stood up and gave the Supreme Being a curious look, "I don't believe I ever got your name. If you would please, tell me the name of our savior."

Momonga turned and opened his mouth to say his name…only to stop himself before the word left his lips. What was his name? Nazarick called him Momonga, Earth called him Suzuki Satoru, his friends in Yggdrasil called him dumbass…okay that last one wasn't a name, but still! Every time he enters a new world, he becomes an entirely new person. When he logged onto Yggdrasil for the first time, he was a different person. When he founded Nine's Own Goal with Touch Me he became a different person. And now? He couldn't be more of a different person if he tried.

Momonga let out a chuckle, then a laugh, then a full blown cackle as the wind whipped around him, sending his red cape billowing as if in some sort of dance. His name…he would pick a new one, a new name for a new world! A name that held power! A name that would strike fear in the hearts of his enemies! A name that would breed hope in the souls of his allies! A name that if heard by those who recognise it, would let them know who has come for them!

"My name…" Momonga spoke, his silky-smooth voice echoing through the rustling trees of the forest. His eyes blazed brighter than an inferno as his lips curled into a maniacal grin, "My name is Ainz Ooal Gown! Remember the name well child! For it is the name of a ruler, your savior, your god!" Momonga…no…Ainz Ooal Gown held out his arms as if expecting an applause. Suzuki Satoru was no longer his name, Momonga was no longer his name…his name, his one true name, was Ainz Ooal Gown. For now, and forever. Ainz snapped his fingers, causing a translucent yellow barrier to surround the girls, "This should keep you safe from harm for a few minutes. I'll deal with the rest of the soldiers and when they're all dead, you can return."

Nemu hugged close to Enri as Ainz began walking away. Enri looked on with tears in her eyes as she watched as her savior, no…her god strutted down the path his monster had created with his companion right beside him, "Ainz Ooal Gown…"

"What the hell is that thing!?"

"It's tearing us apart! Get into formation!"

"Are you crazy!? I'm running for my-agh!"

"Jeremy! You bast-aaaghugh!"

"We need reinforcements! Where are the reinforcements!"

"Lieutenant Belius, what are your orders sir!?" A member of the Sunlight Scripture asked, the one in charge having to slam his open mouth shut in order to give his orders.

The giant undead knight carved through their lines like it was nothing, cutting down even the most elite of their warriors and using its massive shield to send waves of his men flying. Belius felt fear creep up his spine, he needed to get out of here, he needed to be protected, "Protect me! All men fall back and defend your leader with your lives!"

"Are you mad-!?" One of the soldiers asked, before he too was stabbed through the chest and kicked by the roaring monster right in front of his glorious leader.

The lieutenant's pupils dilated at the corpse in front of him as the Death Knight grew closer and closer, completely decimating his troops, "T-two hundred gold pieces! I'll give two hundred gold pieces to whomever protects me!" More than a few knights turned their heads at that, it was quite a bit of money…

"Stand your ground Belius!" One soldier spoke out, his eyes steeled in determination as he readied his sword, "If we are to die today, it will be under the grace of the one true god!"

Many of the remaining soldiers seemed to resolve themselves from those words, a collective sense of faith spreading throughout the men. Lieutenant Belius wasn't so faithful, however, "What are you doing!? Get over here and protect me! My family has money!" Belius stumbled to the ground as something grasped his ankle, pulling him down to face the ghoulish face of a Squire Zombie, the very same corpse that was kicked his way transformed into an undead abomination, "Ah! Five hundred gold pieces! Someone save me!"

The last line of soldiers charged, though not because their lieutenant had offered them money to do so, but rather because they knew that with their god watching over them, they would win this fight, "Charge! Show this unholy corpse the might of the div-!" He couldn't finish his sentence before his body was crushed under the boot of the monster, followed by the rest of the men being cut in half.

Belius kicked the Squire Zombie's hand from his ankle and frantically crawled away towards the villagers he had just rounded up, "A thousand gold! I don't care, just save me!" The Death Knight saw the last remaining soldier desperately run from it…and gave a rictus grin. The undead charged faster than something that size could charge right after its prey. Belius didn't have any time to react before he was kicked onto his back and the blade of the Death Knight was stabbed deep into his torso, again, and again, and again, "T-take all of it! All the m-money! Save me! H-help me! Someone-!" Before his entire body was crushed under the shield of the beast, killing him at last.

The villagers watched the undead with baited breath, preparing to scatter if that thing decided to attack them next. Only…the Death Knight didn't do that. Instead the massive undead walked over to the side along with the Squire Zombies it had created, and bowed as a tall figure in a red cape and fancy navy blue clothing strutted into view. The skull-shaped chest piece that Ainz normally wore nowhere to be seen as an ornate red mask was placed tightly on his face, hiding his more monstrous features.

Ainz walked forward with Albedo in tow before holding his arms out with what had to be a grin underneath his mask, "Residents of Carne Village! My name is Ainz Ooal Gown, Ruler of the Dark, King of a wondrous location, lord of the very night sky you sleep under!" Ainz lowered himself in an extravagant bow, soaking in the looks of wonder and amazement as he did, "But please, call me Ainz."
