Heart of Love Chap 2

The next morning Bec was up making breakfast for her and Chris, as she was nearing completion she called Chris's room. Chris was still sleeping when the phone went off, groggily he reached for it, "Hello?" he asked. "Good morning Chris. I wanted to let you know that breakfast is almost ready, so you want hot food better come on down," Bec said, "Alright honey, I'll be down in a minute," Chris responds before hanging up. 'Honey,?' Bec thinks with a blush, she shakes her head and finishes the food. As Chris was getting dressed he realized what he called Bec, 'I called her honey? Man Chris you made a fool of yourself,' he thinks in embarrassment. Once dressed he went downstairs to the dining room.

Bec had just finished setting the table when Chris came in, on the table today is: Cheese Omelet, Hickory Smoked Bacon, Buttermilk Pancakes, and Shredded Hash Browns. "I made some dark roast coffee this morning," Bec said finishing up and they both sat down. "Looks good," Chris states and begins to eat, Bec follows suit. "When is the BSAA coming?" Bec asks, "They should be..." Chris looked at the clock that read 8:00, "12:00pm". "I think we can find something to do before you go," Bec said looking like she had some thoughts. As they ate they talked about Chris's own hobbies, "So when your not out on a mission you exercise, go to the shooting range or hang around with your friends. Sounds interesting," Bec says with little smile. "Do your friends come visit?" Chris asks. "Yeah but not too often, they have their own lives in the cities they call home and some of them are in relationships," Bec said.

After they finished eating, they wash the dishes, "Not using the dishwasher?" Chris asked drying the dishes. "The dishwasher is okay but it doesn't always get everything that it's suppose to. I used it last night because it would have impolite not to show you the house. Traditional handwashing is the best way even in this day and age," Bec said washing the dishes. Once that was done Bec took Chris outside to show him the grounds: her grandmother's favorite hobby was gardening, flowers, herbs, statues, anything thing you can think of she would plant or have it planted. Sadly her grandmother doesn't garden too often due to her running the family estates, but would sit and admire the scenery when she could. She and Bec would often have picnics together when Bec was younger. "Mrs. Venganza sure has good taste," Chris said after seeing all the foliage and decorations outside.

They go back inside when Bec showed him everything outside, "Do you want to go down to the gym? I need to workout," Bec asks. "Sure," Chris said. "Nothing too strenuous, your still healing," Bec reminds him. Bec went upstairs to change into her workout gi, while Chris went on ahead to the gym. As Bec came into the gym area, Chris was warming up on the punching bag. Bec starts using aerobics to warm up before going into her katas. "You know martial arts?" Chris asked looking impressed. "I always found them to be cool, so grannie had enrolled me in classes when I expressed interest in learning them," Bec tells him not stopping her routine.

After about an hour, "Say Bec are you up for a spar?" Chris asks. "I know your a man of action but I think I'll do a rain check on that for today. You should heal a little bit more before before sparing," Bec said.

They wrap it up, Bec said, "Chris you remember where the library is right? Please wait there while I change". They go up to the third floor, Chris went to the library and Bec to her room. Chris looks around the library feeling very much out of place, 'Even with them all categorized I wouldn't know where to start,' are Chris's thoughts. He ended up by the 'Fairytale' section and after looking it over picked up a book called 'The Nutcracker'. He reads a bit before Bec comes into the room, "I see you found something," she said. "It seemed to have been ... Calling me? I think that is the way to put it," Chris responds. "A book calls to me every now and then too," Bec said as she was going over to a different section and picked up a book.

"Let's go to the music room," Bec said and they walked down one floor to said room. Bec put her book on a music stand that read 'Warm-ups for Vocalists'. "You sing?" Chris asked. "Yes, it's my favorite way of doing music," Bec says, and begins her voice exercises, Chris sat down in one of the chairs and listened to her sing. 'She sounds like an angel,' were Chris's thoughts as he stared at her. After twenty minutes Bec stops singing and closes the book, "That takes care of my exercises, what do you think?" Bec asks Chris. "You sound like you came down from heaven," Chris said, then stuttered an apology realizing he said what he was thinking.

Bec blushed, "Its fine Chris, at least now I know I have a chance to win Vocalist of the Year Award," she said with a smile. Chris then looked all around the room at the instruments, "You play all of these?" he asks. There is a piano, violin, flute, french horn, harp and classic guitar, "Yes, I love music so I learned quite the number of instruments," Bec said. "Do you play anything?" she asked him. "I played guitar off and on over the years but I haven't touched it recently," Chris said. "I'm on assignments a good portion of the year, so when I get home I want to crash and burn and take of care what's necessary. Then I hang out with my teammates and friends, but then around there I get a new assignment," Chris said.

"Maybe you should ask for some time off and enjoy yourself every now and then," Bec states. "Yeah but the bad people out there won't take vacations. If take one then they might have an edge in something," Chris said back, he didn't like that Bec was lecturing him. "I know they won't rest, but if you burn out then you won't go foreword. There is always going to be good or bad people, there will be someone else to take up the fight and who will fight back. It's the way of life, please Chris take time to enjoy yourself. Life is too short not too," Bec says with all heart and seriousness. Chris stared at her and sighed he didn't want to argue right now. Bec realizes that now may not be a good time for such words.

"Would you like to dance once more?" Bec asks, Chris stands up and goes over to her. Bec puts on some music and they get into position. They move to the sound of the music, both feeling the same thin last night, that they might be here for a reason. As they dance Bec closes her eyes and sings.

If you could hear me now

If I could only get through

I'd open my heart, whisper my dreams

Share all my secrets with you

If you could see me now

Waiting for someone to hold

Someone so brave, who's never afraid

Someone who's stronger than knights of old

I save this dance for you

I hope it lasts forever

So let one star shine through

And make my wish come true

If you could hear this song

This dance would last forever

And carry us along, to a place where we belong

Bec finishes her song and looks up at Chris who seems to be memorated. They lean in close that their lips touch, a chaste kiss.

Ding Dong!

Both of them jolt at the sound of the doorbell ringing, they release each other and Bec looks over at the clock that says 12:07. "That'll be the BSAA," Chris said, looking flushed. He couldn't believe that he kissed her, 'Chris! Why did you do that?!' he thinks. Bec was blushing, 'Was I that lost in the moment?' were her thoughts, then the doorbell rings again. "I'll get the door, you grab the rest of your stuff," Bec said before leaving the room and Chris goes to the room he stayed in. Bec opens the door just as it rang for a fourth time and outside were BSAA agents.

"Hello miss, we're here to pick up agent Redfield," says one of the agents politely. "He's upstairs right now, gathering the last of his things," Bec tells them and invites them in. "Nice digs," one of the others said. "Thank you, would you gentlemen like some refreshments?" she asked but the one leading the group shakes his head. "Thank you miss but we need to get to BSAA Paris HQ asap. With recent developments, we need all agents accounted for and ready," he says and Chris came down into the foyer. "Thank you Bec for your hospitality and for saving me. I hope we will meet again someday," Chris said. "Don't worry will meet again soon. Here," Bec says giving Chris the book he was reading earlier. "I can't take this, it belongs here," Chris tries to refuse and give it back but Bec puts her hands up. "I know you didn't finish it, and I believe that you should finish what you start. With that we can meet again," Bec said with a smile.

Bec then grabs Chris by the hand, "Remember to live each and every day. Stay safe Chris," Bec said looking at him with a smile and Chris smiles back.

"Bye Bec," he said. "Bye Chris," she said and they slowly let go of each other. Chris turns to the three agents, "Let's go boys," he said and they walk out the door. "Have a good day everyone," Bec said shutting the door. The men walk over to the car and drive off, "So captain how did you score a babe like her?" one of them asks. "I didn't score anything and don't talk about her like that," Chris said with a scowl at the one who asked.

"But you have to know who she is right?" another one asked. "I know her family has a lot of money if that's what you mean," Chris responds. They all laugh at him, "You never heard of the Venganza family? They are one of the oldest respectable families in all the world. They are the fifth wealthiest in the world as a whole and they have business in every corner of the world. But they are more known giving away to charities and organizations that benefit the earth than anything else. That includes the BSAA, they supported us from the start but picked up the slack after Tricell was exposed in making bioweapons. So remember they're the reason you still have a job. And if I recall right, that young lady there is the sole heiress to the entire Venganza family fortune, so your future is made if you get together with her," the one driving said.

"I would be with her because of who she is, not because of materialistic needs," Chris said. "Oh so you are considering a relationship with her?" the one sitting beside him asked. "That is none of your business, anyway was the ravine checked?" Chris askes as they arrived at a small airport. "Yes, but there was no body. So he's still out there," the agent in the passenger seat said. They get out of the car and go to the plane that will take them to Paris, Chris looks back over the scenery nearby and promises he would return. He and the other get on and the plane takes off, Chris sits down to read the book that Bec lent him.

Back at the estate, Bec had been cleaning the guest bedroom that Chris spend the night in, so that it's ready for someone else when the time comes. Her cell rings, her grandmother is calling and she answers. "Good afternoon grannie," Bec said. "Good day to you dear, how is everything?" her grandmother asks. "Chris has left for the BSAA and I've been cleaning the room he stayed in. How are you doing?" Bec asks. "I'm doing fine dear, so he left already has he? Shame, you sounded so happy to have company," grannie said. "Yes, I enjoyed having him around, but he is a soldier, he has his duties," Bec said with a smile.

"You should invite him to come over sometime, I would love to meet him in future," her grandmother said. "And who knows maybe he is prince charming coming to sweep you off your feet," Jacqueline said teasing her granddaughter. "Grandma don't tease me!" Bec said turning red at the thought of him scooping her up in his arms. "Calm down dear, only having a little fun. I also wanted to let you know I'll be in London for another two days, then I'm heading over to Moscow for five days. But it looks like after that, we can spend sometime together," Jacqueline tells her happily and Bec smiles in excitement. They bid each other adieu and hang up.

Bec finishes cleaning the guest bedroom, then goes to the music room to put away the book she used. She then grabs other books, sits and studies them 'Nonfiction'. After a while she puts them away and goes downstairs to make dinner for herself, she decides on Chicken Nanba bento and goes to the garden. She sits on the bench and looks around as she's eating, the flowers were showing signs of retiring for the night, their buds closing signaling the day is done for them. After she's done, she goes back in and washes the dishes, before going to the craft room. She starts an embroiderer piece that she intends to give as a present to someone, 'I hope he'll like it,' she thinks. After a while she goes to her room and showers, she blown dries her hair before putting on a dark blue nightgown before getting into bed.

As she dreams, she imagines that someone is beside her, caressing her softly. She smiles at the sensation, until she realizes that she feels it. Someone is in her room, in her bed. Shocked Bec tries to struggle with whoever it was, but she was coming out of a dream, so she wasn't coherent enough. The man tries to hold her down, but she smacks his face causing his sunglasses to fall off. He then grabs her wrists and pins them above her head, puts himself between her legs and glares down at her with red demon eyes.
