Chapter 7: Hagrid's Magical Creatures

*4 Months Later*

"Hello everyone and welcome back to Hagrid's Magical Creatures television show. Today I got a real treat for ya and two of my favorite helpers." Hagrid motioned to Teddy who waved enthusiastically at the camera, and who's brown hair was turning blue from the excitement. James who originally was bouncing for joy suddenly hid behind Teddy as the camera turned to them. Hagrid bent down, still towering over a scared James.

"Would you like to be with ya dad until youre ready to come back?" James nodded and ran to his dad off screen. Harry immediately picked up the toddler and rubbed calming circles on his back.

"This young man, is Teddy, and he is here to help me show ya a unicorn."

"Ohhhh Ahhhh!" Teddy said dramatically to the camera, making both Harry and Hagrid chuckle. Hagrid and Teddy turned to a baby unicorn attached with a harness to a small stick in the ground. Hagrid immediately petted the animal gently and untied it from the stake.

"This is a baby unicorn. They are incredibly gentle creatures, which is why I asked Teddy to help me today." Teddy's smile brighten and he bounced on the tips of his toes.

"Teddy would ya like to hold the reigns for me." Somehow Teddy's smile grew as he reached for the reigns. Hagrid continued to pet the unicorn's nuzzle as he spoke to the camera again.

"Unicorns are born gold. When they turn about two, they'll slowly turn silver. A year or so later their horns will begin to grow. You can see this one has no horn and is gold, so that means…" Hagrid pointed to Teddy.

"He's a baby, like James!" Teddy smiled, still holding the reigns. He was so excited about the unicorn, he did not notice the look James was giving him. Only Harry could hear the now three year old say "Not a baby."

"That's right! This unicorn is still a baby, but when he reaches adulthood, he'll be pure white, just like snow. There is only one part of their bodies that doesn't change colors as they get older. Do ya have a guess, Teddy?"

"Their horn?"

"Good guess, but their horn grows and stays white. It's their hooves." Hagrid bent down and gently lifted the unicorn's leg to show the golden hooves. As he did so, James tried to squirm from his father's grip. Harry placed the child on the ground and knelt next to him.

"Do you want to join them?" Harry whispered quietly to his son. James shook his head, but his sight never left Hagrid and the unicorn.

"Now unicorns are very rarely caught by humans, so this was a very lucky find. This unicorn was with it's mother when her foot got caught. I was able to bring her and her baby here to treat and she is doing much better. In fact, we'll be releasing both of them today." Hagrid brimmed with excitement. He took out a small comb, which he handed to Teddy. Teddy took the comb and very carefully, as if the unicorn was made of glass, pulled the comb through it's silvery locks.

"Unicorn hairs are used in many witch's and wizard's wands. Most wandmakers will gently brush out the manes, as my friend Teddy is doing now." Teddy gave the camera a toothy smile. "The wands with unicorn hair tend to be the most faithful of wands. Their hair is also used in some potions and their horn, the rarest, because it is not taken until the unicorn has died, is also used in potions." Hagrid continued to explain more about the unicorn, even placing a delighted Teddy on it's back. While Harry trusted Hagrid, this still put him on edge. After a few minutes, Hagrid helped Teddy down and the two walked over to the fenced area with the mother unicorn. At this moment, James ran as fast as his legs would carry him to Hagrid who saw him and waited.

"Perfect timing James. Would you like to help me open the gate?" James nodded as he held the handle of the gate. Hagrid removed the reigns from the baby unicorn who shook it's mane out.

"Ready?" James nodded. "Pull." Hagrid and James pulled the gate open slowly. Once the gate was open, Hagrid lifted James and Teddy onto the fence behind the gate. The camera followed the unicorns as they galloped away into the Dark Forest, before turning back to Hagrid, who stood by James and Teddy.

"I hope ye enjoyed that as much as we did. Next week, we'll have another great animal join us." Hagrid smiled at the camera and waved. Teddy and James joined in.

"Nice job Hagrid." The cameraman called out.

"Thank you." Hagrid beamed with pride as he helped James down. Teddy jumped down and ran to Harry.

"Did you see that! I got to actually touch a unicorn!" Teddy jumped up and down.

"I got to open the door." James joined in lifting his arms in success. Harry and Hagrid chuckled as the two boys talked about the unicorns.

"Thanks Hagrid, they really like this. And it looks like you do too." Hagrid beamed with pride.

"I do. It's really what I've always wanted to do. Share magical creatures with everyone. I was thrilled when Shacklebolt asked me to do this. Said I'd never been on tv since the documentary, but I couldn't say no."

"I'm glad. Hermione said reports show muggles are talking about your show. She said it seems to be helping with the magical creature fear." Harry smiled as he watched his boys run around them in a circle, pretending to be the unicorns.

"I think that having the boys this week will really help that." Hagrid said. "Shows the animals are gentle and kind enough that we trust them with our children. I'd love to have them back, but don't worry nothing dangerous." Hagrid added seeing the concerned look on Harry's face appear. Harry chuckled.

"I'll talk to Ginny and Teddy's grandmother about it. The boys did really love it."

Note: I hope you all enjoyed the beginning of Hagrid's show, please let me know what you think
