Yusuke and Hiei collapsed onto the ground in a tangle.
"You know," said Yusuke, "I don't know how it works in Makai…but that was the best way this fight possibly could've ended."
"T-Take it…you can take it out," Hiei mumbled, his voice muffled due to his face being smushed into the ground. "And no. Not all demon battles end with the fighters losing their pants."
"Plus, I think this was a win for both of us." Yusuke was still a little steady on his feet, but he was able to remove himself from Hiei and go searching for his jeans. He'd known for a long time that his "first time," if it ever came, would be with a guy, but what he didn't know was that it would be with one of his best friends. And until the sweaty, shirtless, aggressive, dirty, loud scrimmage in which they had just engaged, which had quickly morphed into something more, he didn't know Hiei was into guys at all, much less him.
"Fuck you," said Hiei.
"Maybe at a later date," said Yusuke, barely able to contain his laughter, "but I'm kind of tired right now."
Hiei let out a growl of frustration, and Yusuke grinned when he realized that his friend didn't have a retort. He climbed on top of him again and passionately kissed his neck. But it was only when Hiei finally found his voice that Yusuke realized how badly the fire demon wanted to save face.
"I thought you needed to rescue Kuwabara," he said.
"Since when do you care about that?"
"Well, he's your friend, at least."
"All right," said Yusuke, watching his friend gather himself up from the ground. "I guess I really do need to get on that."
It was a long shot, but Yusuke finally managed to convince Hiei to help the team defeat Sensui, even if he basically had to bribe him to do so. As the two of them headed for Demon's Door Cave, Yusuke was trying to think about rescuing Kuwabara and saving the day. But in truth, the only thing he could think about was what he had just done with Hiei. For a first time, it had actually been pretty good.
But from the way they avoided each other's gaze, Yusuke couldn't help but wonder if their little hookup had been the best idea. It would definitely be better, he decided, for them to stay friends. And he could tell Hiei agreed.
They had no idea, however, what was ahead. No one did, of course, but especially not Hiei and Yusuke.
