After the events of the chimera ant war and the saving of his best friend, killua felt that he was more than ready to take a break for a while. He definitely deserved it, but he couldn't shake off the feeling of his ineptitude to save Gon. He could recall the events of the war, as he liked to call it, and the crying of the burly man quite clearly. Those events still rang in his head like a neverending echo that kept on replaying no matter how hard he tried to drown them out. Even if he knew what his goal was now, protecting Alluka and seeing the world with her, he felt like he lost purpose staring at Gon's wilted hands. He was over the memory now though so he tried his best to take care of his little sister.

Soon after his and his sister's departure from the world tree, he went out traveling with her, as per her request. He realized soon though that this wasn't an amazing idea. Not that his sister was incapable or anything but she wrecked havoc wherever she went. It's not that he didn't enjoy it either, it's just that having to explain the situation each time and apologize was not exactly ideal for him. He forgave her each time she did something of course, but he was still getting mad at her shenanigans and became more and more irritated as time went on. Soon enough he felt as if he almost felt like he had to clean up every mess for her so he decided he wanted something to change.

He walked into the bedroom of the rented house he and Alluka stayed at. He spotted her long dark hair sitting on the floor looking up to the tv that was inconveniently situated far away from the bed. He walked over to the remote that was situated on a nightstand to the right of their bed and he picked the remote up and turned the tv off. Alluka cocked her head at the sudden static and eventual darkness of the tv. Her head jerked up in a quick motion and her head span towards him. "What was that for?!" she asked with slight irritation in her voice. Her bright blue eyes almost protruded farther than they should be able to. "We need to talk about something" her eyebrows returned to their normal position and had a questioning look spreading across her face. "Ok, Alluka," said the silver-haired boy, his eyebrows jerking upwards at uneven intervals. "You keep getting yourself into trouble" he observed that she started to realize where this was going when her eyes started to droop. "And even after I taught you how to fight" somewhat, he wasn't fully going to teach her nen or complete fighting skills, he just wanted her to know enough so that she wouldn't be defenseless. "You're still getting into dangerous situations, and honestly, it's stressing me out more than it should." After a brief moment of silence she interjected "how about you take a break for a while". He opened one of his eyes out of curiosity at the thought of taking a break "and what exactly would that entail?". She didn't think a moment before speaking "that request earlier, you know the one". He wasn't sure what to think for a moment but quickly said "what about you?". Her face almost turned into one of pout before she spoke "Brother you know I can defend myself now!" not entirely he thought with a scowl. He didn't dare say it out loud though.

He considered the idea in his head, To meet Gon again huh. It wasn't a bad idea by any means but he was almost traumatized by it. The shriveled hands of his best friend never left his mind. The words since it means nothing to you were automatically associated with the shriveled hands as were the words you have it easy. He didn't think negatively about the words or the person who spoke them to him, instead he beat himself up about it. He ultimately pushed the whole blame of the kite situation onto himself and it didn't have the best effect on his relationship with gon. Any mention of him and Killua became almost like his old self. He lost personality for the few moments he was mentioned. He should've gotten over it by now but he just couldn't erase the image from his mind no matter how hard he tried to. He cursed himself under this weakness of his and then his lip twitched. Maybe if I were to approach him and learn to forget about all of it this silly little weakness of mine would disappear. He pondered it wondering about the logistics of it. He would probably have to let Gon know about it, otherwise he wouldn't be able to help him get it out of his system. He let out a sigh, not of relief but of one gon would probably make. One that told him it was time to stop thinking for a while. Even if it was a similar sigh It wasn't the same as one gon would make, it was one of certainty. He had already decided what he should do.

He pulled his old beetle phone out the drawer. Its unrelenting features reminded him of the memories in Yorknew, the memories he made with gon. He almost got cold feet but remembered his decision from earlier and gathered the resolve to text Gon, saying he could do it next weekend. His decision wasn't left unnoticed by Alluka however, as she plopped onto the bed next to him and immediately snook a glance at his phone. She could see the person he was messaging, it was none other than Gon himself. "You're gonna do it?" she asked in an almost annoying tone. "Yes, yes I am." he replied with blank eyes. There was nothing to read on his face but she could tell from just a glance what he was thinking "I will be okay, Big brother! You just go out there and have fun!". She calmed him down considerably and whatever look of worry he held before was washed off his face. He was going to be fine.

Soon enough, the big day arrived and Killua wasn't sure what to do with himself. He knew Gon probably wouldn't mind anything he wore or decided to do with himself but he didn't know what had changed in the meantime. Knowing Gon, probably nothing changed at all other than maybe him looking a little older but he couldn't rule out the possibility of him judging Killua. Killua knew the old gon wouldn't think about it at all but because of his own insecurities he couldn't move. For 20 minutes, all Killua did was stand there and try to think of what had changed. Suddenly, a high pitched voice walked up to him, which he soon realized to be his sister. She rubbed her eyes and after an enormous yawn, focused her attention onto killua. Her cerulean eyes focused themselves onto him and after a second, an imaginary bulb popped over her head. "Oh, I see, you're getting ready to go. What are you just standing there for?" his eyes were still focused forward, he decided not to look at her. "I'm not sure what to do". His face was blank this time as well, just a bit more unreadable compared to the last time they spoke."What do you mean you're not sure what to do?". This time, however, he forced a glance towards her "I'm not sure what has changed in the meantime, and-" he forced himself to stop talking. He had just realized something so obvious, something he shouldn't have knocked out of his head.Gon didn't care. He never did. Not about looks, appearance, or any of the like. Everywhere he went with Gon he observed one thing that never changed, he never looked at things through a lens of good or bad, just genuine curiosity. He knew that was the one aspect about his friend that would never change even if something drastic were to happen. It was something so obvious, he didn't know how he didn't come to that conclusion earlier. In of itself, he knew that the conclusion was flawed but he knew that it wouldn't change unless something really bad happened to warrant that lens to even appear in the first place. He looked up to his sister's pearls and gave a look that told her all she needed to know about his certainty. She adorned a massive grin across her face at that point. She knew it was going to be fine.

He looked around to find their supposed meeting point. Gon didn't tell him what the meeting point was, all Gon had told him was the directions on a map, but Killua knew all the sweets shops and restaurants in this area so it didn't surprise him to find one he knew standing there. It was an exceedingly amazing sweets shop, one bella's cupcakes. He knows me too well. He must've done his research to find this place. That gon would go so much out of his way for someone like him made Killua tremble for a second before realizing his purpose for being here. A couple of seconds later, he heard loud footsteps coming from the right and heard the loud voice of his old friend. He wore the outfit he had when they first met, an overall bright green color palette and his usual short shorts, jacket, and boots. He didn't spare a moment before greeting him "Hey Killua!". He wore his usual overjoyed expression and from what killua could tell he hadn't changed much at all. He felt like an idiot for worrying about him changing now. It had only been a few months and he had been worrying so much. "How have you been?" it didn't sound like it but that question was more of a shout than a question. "Pretty good actually, me and Alluka have been traveling around and seeing the world, though she has been a bit destructive" he shot an annoyed glance to the side. Gon didn't seem to recognize his annoyance at all. "Sounds like it has been fun for you then!" "I suppose, it hasn't been the most fun with the police though". "Couldn't you just have used your hunter license to get out of the police's hands?" Killua froze in his thoughts. He should've thought of that beforehand. He looked down and started swaying his head from side to side letting gon know that he hadn't thought about it. He started receiving pitying looks and as well as pats on the back to further how stupid he felt. "Don't pat me on the back!". He shot Gon an agitated look and Gon responded with "it felt like you needed it cause you look kinda sadl right now." Killua somehow looked even more agitated than before as he whispered "I don't need your help idiot". Gon started to look slightly annoyed at his best friends' comment. "Well maybe I just wanted to help!" Killua moved closer. "Well I didn't need it!" "Clearly you did, otherwise you wouldn't be moping around!"."I would've been fine without it" they were practically breathing fire at this point."Oh Whatever!" They turned their backs to each other in disdain and their shoulders were directly against each other. After a couple of seconds they started laughing, stepping from each other, and stopped arguing altogether. I already feel like that little fear of mine is disappearing just from being with him. He knew it couldn't have been gone just from one little interaction but just this little moment spent went a long way for him and he felt the slightest twinge of happiness spreading across his lips. Maybe this isn't going to be as bad as I thought it would be.

The rest of the meetup went better than Kiillua thought it was going to be, he had more fun than he had in a while. They ate sweets and relaxed as they got each other caught up on recent events in each other's lives. It felt like the day couldn't get any better for Killua and as for Gon, it was something different compared to his daily life on whale island. Something different was always welcome in his book. The rest of the day went by quickly and just as they were about to say goodbye, something happened. Something big.

They were walking down a street with sweets in their hands and attempting to say their goodbyes. "It was great to see you again, even though it's only been a couple of months." the silver haired boy spoke with child-like glee. "Yeah it was great to hangout again after all this time! I was getting really bored of life at whale island." "I expected as much" his sealike eyes shot him a knowing look. "Real-" gon's words were interrupted as he bumped into a tall man and fell over. He knocked his sweets over in the process of it. His chocolate eyes looked up to find a man dressed in a brown cloak. His skin was a chocolate brown of sorts and it contrasted immensely with his lavender hair which was spiky enough to stand out, even about as much as Gon's. His eyes were closed for a moment until he caught the green adolescent staring at him. Once he opened his eyes, Gon caught a glance at his green pine tree-like eyes and couldn't take his eyes off him. He looked further and caught sight of the man's pupil. It looked like he had a whole world in there, though it did appear to be sideways. The man kept his eyes open for only a moment longer as he began to form an angry expression. "Damn it" his voice was hoarse and low and you could hear the anger in his voice. Gon quickly got up and brushed his shorts off. "I'm sorry sir" he bowed his head and put his hands together, making an obvious attempt at an apology. "Gon, you don't need to apologize to this guy, he bumped into you first." "I still want to though". "It's not worth it" the man barely spoke anything in response barely muttering a 'hmph' in response. I didn't sense him. That could've gotten really dangerous, really fast. It's good that it ended that way. "Gon, that guy was dangerous, we need to get out of here" he whispered to Gon in hopes of getting away safely. The man seemed to hear it though as he hesitated, and almost turned around. In only a second, the man started rushing towards them eyes wide, pupils widening to fill all of the green. He seemed to rush towards Gon first and Killua noticed this as he shouted out "GON!". Gon seemed to take notice of his comment as he dashed towards the right. The man was incredibly quick and took a sharp turn on his heel as he went straight for gon. Once he was close enough his eyes glowed and with a single touch, gon fell unconscious. "GON!". Killua yelled with desperation evident in his voice then rushed towards Gon mustering as much electricity as possible to get to him. Before he could, however, the man chopped the back of Killua's neck and simultaneously activated whatever power he had that sent Gon unconscious. No, I can't fall unconscious here. If I do, he'll do something to Gon. I CAN'T FALL ASLEEP HERE. I CAN'T…. I Can't I can't I c-. Before he could muster any more thoughts he blacked out.

He woke up to feel himself falling. Not falling asleep but something different, and for some reason, it felt hard to open his eyes or even feel anything. The only things he could even sense were fleeting. The noises were of laughter, tears, the incessant panting that could only be recognized as fear. The other thing he could recognize was the smell of burning wood. It hurt to even try and open his eyes so he decided to play the waiting game. Whatever this is can't keep going on forever, there has to be some end to this. I'll just have to wait then. The last thing he could remember was falling asleep the previous night. He had no recollection of whatever was happening to him and he couldn't remember even the slightest of what he was doing until he heard a thud. The thud, he soon realized to be his own. He hit something. Something hard. It seemed like whatever the free falling adventure was before this had ended and he landed somewhere. He wasn't sure if it was okay to open his eyes yet so he listened for the laughter, the tears or the incessant panting and all he could hear in return was idle chatter. Next he focused his attention on his nose, he smelt around for the burning wood he recognized earlier. All he could smell was garbage. Meteor city? No, that doesn't seem to be the case. Either way I think I stopped falling. He opened his eyes and rapidly blinked a few times before realizing the situation he was in. He was in an alleyway. That's why it smelled of garbage. People dump all kinds of stuff here. Looking forward though he heard none of the people who should've been chatting so he decided to look backwards. Then he saw it, hundreds of people walking by. Some looked like busy salarymen trying to contact people for their office life, others appeared to be mothers trying to go shopping for groceries. It looked like a normal society except for one thing, that he didn't even know how to describe. Some looked like chimera ants. Chimera ants? CHIMERA ANTS! Calm down, calm down. There are good chimera ants and even so it doesn't seem like these ants are attacking normal people. Wait, I still need to make sure just in case it's a manipulator at work. Killua activated Ren and then focused it onto his eyes. He activated Gyo as a result. It doesn't seem like any of them know nen so even if they do cause issues I should be able to defeat them. He stood there for a couple of minutes observing the various people as they walked by, carefully checking if anybody in the area knew nen. After standing there for a while he realized no one knew it. He audibly sighed out in relief "thank god". Might as well try to figure out where I am.

He walked out of the suspicious alleyway and looked around. He recognized some of the buildings around to be written in a different language than he was used to. I'm probably in an entirely different country by the looks of it. This isn't our language but I can understand what these people are saying for some reason. He looked around and noticed a few people talking in the language displayed but for some reason he could understand everything being said. Maybe our language characters are different for different parts of the world. That would explain the differences in the characters displayed on the sign versus his actually known language. Still, why would only the characters change? God, I'm starting to feel like gon just thinking about this. Killua froze in his tracks. He decided he shouldn't think about that kinda stuff.

He awoke to a black world and he was…. Falling.
