Now is the Moment

"It's so interesting, when you think about it." Tamano said out loud, her basket full of freshly plucked berries to the hut, with Moroha carrying the firewood for the night.
Placing the pile down, Moroha stretched her limbs, her arms and legs sore. "Hm?"
"We happened to meet each other when I needed help," Tamano continued. "Almost as if we were meant to, to meet each other."
Moroha crossed her arms, sitting onto the ground. "Now you mention it, yeah, you're right, it does feel like that." She scratched her head, mulling it over. "You're onto something, Tamano."
"I am onto something," Tamano replied, setting down the basket and sitting down next to Moroha , "If it hadn't been for you and your cousins, I'm sure I would be back at Homura's castle. I wouldn't have-" Her cheeks turned pink. "I wouldn't have fallen in love with you."
Moroha felt her own face turn red, but she shook her head "No, no, don't say that. Don't say anything like that." She replied, inching closer to Tamano. She reached out and held the other girl's hands with hers, gently but assuredly.
"You don't have to think about what-ifs, what could have been, or any of that." Moroha spoke as her eyes met Tamano's, the other girl surprised as such a gesture.
"I guess, what I'm trying is that you're here and I'm here, and what matters is right now," Moroha said with a confident certainty, a smile growing in her features.
Tamano stilled for a moment, but then she smiled as well, nodding. "Yes, what matters is right now,"
Moroha beamed. "Don't mention it, anything for you." She replied, a little bashfulness in her voice. And before she could say anything else, Tamano leaned in and kissed her, full on the lips.
Moroha stilled, but then she kissed Tamano right back.
This moment, this was what mattered right now, for them both.
