There were nights when the Etherium is calm as a pond. Nights when merchant ships, with their large cargoes of solar crystals, expect a smooth ride. But there were times when even on the calmest nights could give away to the unexpected…
Pirates.
The savage enemy to all honest and civilized spacers. And the feared and notorious pirate of them all was Captain Gutt!
Captain Gutt was a Gigantopithecus-like alien who took to being a self-styled master and captain of the galaxy, taking whatever he could find by theft and hoarding it with the help of his crew.
"FIRE!"
Cannons shot at a massive cargo ship, scaring the passengers aboard. The sailors tried to fight the incoming pirates.
Like a Candarian zap-wing overtaking its prey, Gutt and his band of renegades would mysteriously swoop in out of nowhere.
And then, gathering up their spoils, vanished without a trace.
For hundred of years, stories have passed on from spacer to spacer of Gutt's secret trove. A trove he knew and hid the treasure. Hidden, somewhere at the farthest reaches of the galaxy, stowed with riches beyond imagination, the loot of a thousand worlds: Treasure Planet.
As a child on the dull, mining planet Montressor, I lived with the legends but never trusted pirates for what their evil deeds did to the innocent.
But little did I know by the time I was seventeen, my whole world changed forever. And all it took was one wish.
