The sun's light begins to wane in the summer sky over the city of Hurricane. Cars speed down the streets coming home from work, people walk to their homes or to the store on the sidewalk and birds loudly chirp as they fly through the sky. As the day begins to turn into night, a fifteen year old girl wearing a green jacket, a magenta t-shirt, blue wristbands, blue jeans and green shoes casually walks down the street, heading towards the American Legion Sports Complex. This girl's name is Charlotte Emily, or Charlie for short. Charlie has been living here her entire life. She's been here since was born, and her father, Henry Emily, has been here ever since he was born. To say that Charlie has a normal life, wouldn't be completely true, but things have recently been going smoothly. School's out for the summer, she has a good grade on her exams, and nothing too weird has happened.
Charlie continues walking down the sidewalk, making it closer to the Complex's entrance with each step. Then, suddenly, her phone begins ringing in her pocket and she halts, pulling out her phone and looking at it for a few moments.
"Oh. It's just John." She says before answering the call and putting it up to her ear.
"Hey Charlie." John says from the other end of the line.
"Hello! How's your day going, John?" Charlie responds, sounding rather jolly hearing him.
"I'm doing just fine! Thanks! How about you?" He replies.
"I've been doing good today!" She responds.
"That's great!" He shouts.
"Anyways, Charlie. How'd you feel about going out to eat with me tonight?" John then asks.
"I can't do it tonight. I'm going to Tom's baseball game right now." She quickly answers, making her way to the entrance.
"Aw man..." John mutters.
"But I'll do it tomorrow. Don't worry." Charlie adds.
"Cool!" He says.
"See ya later, alligator!" She says.
"Cya Charlie!" He says before hanging up. Charlie then puts up her phone before beginning to enter the Complex. Afterwards, she pays for her seat and heads up to the bleachers, before sitting down and looking on at the baseball game currently going on with a small smile.
