Only they could get into this sort of situation. Seriously, only them. You didn't see McGee or Gibbs getting themselves into situations like this. Nope. Only him and Ziva. It was always him and Ziva. They should probably be used to it by now but then something like this happened.
At least they were back home, with back up. Well, not exactly back up because he and Ziva had been sent out to do a little reconnaissance, as it were. But at least in this situation Gibbs would notice if they didn't return to the office and hopefully come looking for them. Not that they would need a search party or anything because they were going to get out of this situation. They were.
McGee was going to have a field day if they didn't. Especially when what they were doing was supposed to be somewhat low risk.
They had nearly been made thanks to a very ill-timed teenager getting in their way. Which had made the drug dealers get all alarmed and suspicious. Did you know what happened when drug dealers got alarmed and suspicious? They got trigger happy, that's what happened.
So, of course, he and Ziva had got out of there as fast as they could without drawing any attention to themselves. They had to get out and not arret them because they didn't have a proper case for their arrest yet. That was what this little operation had been for. So, they didn't want to be seen, hence the getting out of there as fast as possible.
All they had had to do was get out of the drug dealers' way, get back to their car and get back to the office. It should have really been that simple.
Except it was them and it wasn't. Somehow in their ducking and diving and sneaking around they had completely lost track of where they were and had taken several wrong turns making them hit several dead ends. Which then led to them almost doing a complete circle of the place and nearly running into the drug dealers. Again.
So, they had decided to get out of the way, to hide, until the drug dealers left the area. They had had to hide quickly yet also close enough to them that they could hear that they left. Which ked them to now.
They were in a crate. Basically. Or some sort of hut thing that was attached to the run-down storage facility. Tony didn't know what it was. All he knew was that he and Ziva had a close call so they had all but dived into here to get out of the way. It was a miracle no one else had heard the door slam behind them.
It was the slamming door was the problem.
Neither of them had realised just how little space there was in here. They was technically just enough space for both of them. Of the sat pressed against each other in a way that was definitely inappropriate for the workplace. But they had scrambled in here in a way that they didn't have easy access to the door because of the angle they had twisted themselves into. So, they were trapped.
Typical of them, they weren't even locked in somewhere yet they were stuck. What on earth were any higher ups going to think if they ever read their report? Hell, what was Gibbs going to think? This was not going to go over well with anyone. Hell, it currently wasn't going over well with them!
"Can you hear anything?" Tony hissed.
Ziva had ninja ears, after all. Or was it more like bat ears? Were ninjas known for having good hearing?
"Yes, but they are getting further away."
Okay. Good. That was good. He nodded his head and almost headbutted Ziva. Whoops.
"Be careful!"
"It's a bit hard right now!"
"Then stay still!"
"There is one good thing about us being like this," Tony felt like he had to comment.
"I am not in the mood to hear something sexual from you," Ziva warned.
Which was actually kind of nice of her. She didn't always give out warnings. But this time she didn't need to because he wasn't going to make an innuendo. Okah, maybe briefly he had considered it (come on, they were literally pressed against each other) but he had used his common sense (and yes, he did have that, thank you very much) and had actually filtered his thoughts. Yeah, shocking, he knew.
"I was just going to say that us being all crammed together means that we're going to keep nice and toasty. Get your mind out of the gutter," he mock scolded her.
He might not have been able to see her face properly but he knew that she rolled her eyes but thankfully didn't make any comment. It was just too awkward for their normal teasing right now. He definitely did not need to be pressed up against her this way and feel all her curves and... no! Not thinking, not thinking.
"I am nice and warm," she admitted after a dew beats of silence.
"See, some positives," he said sarcastically. "Too bad it doesn't ease the discomfort of being twisted around each other."
"You would not be so uncomfortable if you were more flexible," she sniffed.
"You are still not getting me to do yoga."
"It would help your back."
"It would break my back."
Was it bad that he knew she was rolling her eyes again? He could swear they were becoming audible.
"Can you kick the door?" Ziva asked, trying to twist her body in a way to try and see the door.
It didn't work, mainly because any movement from her meant that he had to move and there really wasn't any room to move.
"I think we pushed the door from the outside to get in here," he replied. "Which means for us to get out we would have to pull the door."
Ziva cursed under her breath in multiple language. He picked up the Spanish, Italian, English and Hebrew. There were at least two more in there. But he felt like joining her. They were well and truly stuck here. For who knows how long. Fantastic. How often did people come around here for legitimate purposes? How long were they realistically have to wait?
Not long apparently because suddenly the door creaked alarmingly and light flooded in every corner making him blink rapidly.
Then they heard a familiar growl.
"What the hell happened to you idiots?"
And with that he was unceremoniously yanked backward out into the fresh air. Oh, he had never been so happy to see a displeased Gibbs.
