revolution is evidently a fandom that creeps back into my life regularly, and i just feel the need to write for our mistreated characters when the bug bites me.

hope you enjoy

Charlies keys jangled as she juggled her bags trying to get the door to Miles' apartment open. She dropped her pack and luggage on the floor in her struggle. She jammed the Key back in the lock and leaned against the door. "Dammit miles, I told you to fix the lock" she continued to mutter profanities until finally the door swung open nearly causing her to crash into the front hallway.

Retrieving her bags from the hallway she dragged them down to the bedroom and tossed them at the foot of the bed. She finally made it, all she wanted was to take a shower and go to bed. It was still early but she had a long week of finals, and getting home to Chicago was a nightmare. Covid testing, flight delays and a taxi ride from hell. She was just so ready to kick back and relax, order some delivery and chill. She was going to be stuck in this apartment for the next two weeks but her favourite uncle was nice enough to let her crash at his place while he was away for the next month.

She was pulling her clothes out of her suitcase when her phone started to buzz off the night stand.

"Hey Miles, I was just about to call you."

"Hey kid, just calling to make sure you got in alright."

Charlie propped her phone between her shoulder and ear as she continued to organize her clothes. "I just walked through the door, I was about to organize my stuff before I crash. The travel was a nightmare but I'm sure I don't need to tell you that."

She heard him chuckle and shift his phone. "Very aware, I can't wait to be done this training and come back home." Mile was a detective in Chicago, he'd gone up the ranks enough that he often travelled around, from seminars on latest tech and PR information to hosting his own classes locally for new recruits. "by the way, I cleared out the top drawers in my dresser for you, and I cleared out closet space for you in case you wanted to hang anything." Charlie glanced over at the dark brown dresser and popped open the set of three drawers that ran across the length of the dresser.

"Thanks, you didn't have to do that." Charlie beamed as she slid open the closet door as well.

Miles shrugged and then remembered she couldn't see him, "I know how much it sucks to live out of a suitcase, and this way if you get stuck there longer then 2 weeks you can at least be comfortable."

"I really appreciate this Miles, this is way better then being stuck in a hotel I couldn't possibly afford for two weeks and it beats the hell out of being stuck in my parents house stuck in my old room."

"Any time kid, you know my place is basically your place." He sighed in fake sadness.

It was mostly true though, she spent more time with him at his place when she was home then with her parents. Her mom was a lot to take, she was what Charlie referred to a 'small doses' person. And when Danny wasn't visiting at the same time she didn't bother even sleeping in her old bed she just crashed on his couch. "Anyways I'll let you get back to unpacking and crashing, let me know if anything comes up, and help yourself to what ever is in the kitchen. Except the whiskey, you know which bottle no touchy but the rest is for you. Stay safe I'll see you in a few weeks."

"thanks, I'll talk to you later" Charlie grinned as she signed off and tossed her phone on the bed. She spent the next 20 minutes hanging up her sweaters and dresses, and folding her clothes into the supplied drawers. Once she was satisfied she grabbed her bathroom stuff and bee-lined it to the only bathroom in the apartment setting everything around the sink and in the shower, she removed the cup with Miles and Nora's tooth brushes to the cupboard under the sink, she didn't want to possibly contaminate their hygiene tools.

Once she was satisfied she was all set up she got the shower running, while it heated up she stripped down and folded her clothes on the sink ready to take back to the room when she was done. Ten minutes later thoroughly lathered and rinsed she exited the bathroom in only her towel, walking to the fridge she dried her hair using a second towel which she promptly dropped when a voice behind her nearly made her jump out of her skin.

"Charlie?" Bass Monroe stood in the middle of the Living room looking surprised and flustered. "What are you doing here?"

Charlie squeaked and ducked behind the kitchen island peeking at him over the counter. "I'm quarantining here! What are you doing here!" She demanded from her hiding spot.

Bass finally realized the state of the blonde behind the counter and quickly turned around. "I just got home from my last posting, Nora said I could stay here for my isolation, I guess she didn't confirm with Miles." He place a hand on his hip the other he ran through his hair. "I'm sorry I had no idea you'd be here."

"I assume your theory is correct as I talked to Miles less than an hour ago and he said nothing about me bunking with someone." Charlie started to skirt around the counter to make a dash for the bedroom. "now you stay turned around I'm going to the bedroom to get clothes."

"Can do." He stifled a laugh as he heard the bedroom door slam shut. A few minutes later she re-emerged in her PJ's, a pair of flannel bottoms and a t-shirt.

Charlie went back to the towel she dropped in the kitchen to finish drying her hair. "it appears we need to get Miles and Nora on the same page. The two of them travel too much, I didn't even know they were living together." She said plopping down on the couch.

Bass joined her on the other end of the couch. "it's pretty new, they've only been living together for a couple months."

Charlie sighed and leaned back. "I spose I can go to my parents house and let you stay here." She closed her eyes thinking about being trapped in her bedroom for two weeks with her nagging mother hovering and questioning her.

Bass watched her face as she thought over her fate at her parents house. "it's okay I can go stay at a hotel, its not a big deal."

Charlie's eyes snapped open. "Absolutely not, that's going to be ridiculously expensive. I already looked into it, its outrageous."

"Okay, well how about we just quarantine together this way you don't have to stay at your parents, I don't have to spend a ton of money and we will have some company. Two weeks is a long time to spend alone. And since this is Miles' house and you had dibs you can even have the bed, I'll just crash on the couch."

"you sure?" She looked at him warily. "two weeks on a couch sucks. But I'm okay with the plan if you are."

Bass nodded and settled into the couch. "Sorry I interrupted your evening though, what did you have planned after your shower?"

Charlie made her way to the bathroom to hang up her towel. "I was going to make some tea, maybe watch a little TV and crash. It's been a long day and I'm exhausted." She had headed into the small kitchen to rummage around the cupboards for cups and tea. "Do you want some?" she pulled the kettle out from under the counter and plugged it in.

When she had the kettle set up she went for the tea when she realized it was out of reach, in her struggle she didn't notice Bass come up behind her until his chest brushed her back and he grabbed the tea boxes for her bringing them to her level.

Her face flushed as she took the box from his hands. "thank you, the curse of being short."

A smile crept across his face. "no problem." Stepping back he looked down at her taking in the blush. "you're not that short." stepping back around her he made his way to the bathroom grabbing a bag on his way. "I'm going to let you finish up I'm going to go wash the plane ride off me."

Charlie tucked her hair behind her ear. "Okay, see you soon." Bass disappeared into the bathroom and Charlie leaned forward into the counter and blew out a deep breath. "This is going to be a long two weeks."

Meanwhile Bass flipped on the shower and stared at himself in the mirror. "Shit." He ran his hands down his face in frustration. "What did I just do." his whispered voice echoed quietly around the bathroom.

When Bass exited the bathroom after a quick refreshing shower, Charlie was curled up at the end of the couch closest to the big windows, a blanket wrapped around her legs and a steaming cup of tea in her hands. The TV was on, it looked like she was part way through the episode already. "you're tea is on the counter, I made it like mine hope thats okay."

He brought his mug to the couch and joined her. "I'm sure its delicious." he sipped his drink quickly realizing Charlie drank her tea with half a cup of sugar, trying not to grimace he turned his attention to the TV. "what are we watching?" his kicked his feet up on the coffee table.

Charlie shrugged. "not really sure, from what I've been able to figure out they live in a world without power, there is some crazy dictator who likes to kidnap kids, and his ex-BFF is a drunk trying to get one particular kid back."

"Sounds wild."

Yawning Charlie set down her tea, "it's not too bad, interesting premise. I'll definitely have to watch more to really understand what's going on though." She leaned back into her spot and rested her head on the arm of the couch getting comfortable.

Bass was so absorbed in the next two episodes of the show that he didn't notice that Charlie had almost immediately fallen asleep after settling in. He reached over and shook her ankle attempting to wake her up. "Charlie, time for bed."

Nothing, not a reaction at all. He tried again and got no response again, he hauled himself off the couch and bent to scoop her up, she may as well have been in a coma for all the responsiveness he was getting. He put her to bed tucking the blankets around her.

Once he was sure she was good he headed to the couch and settled himself in for a long restless night, it was going to be a long two weeks indeed.
