Chapter 7
Visions
Emmett
I ran through the forest in search of a bear.
I stayed with Bella all night and fortunately my instincts had not surprised me a second time. But at five in the morning I left. Most of the time I had watched her sleep. If she had twitched because she was dreaming something, I stroked her back and she became quiet again in my arms. But in the early morning, the thoughts I wanted to prevent came over me when I was with Bella.
I thought of that bitch kissing HIM and anger boiled up inside me.
I didn't want to be around Bella when I was freaking out, so I had to sneak out. Since Bella had been spinning in her sleep that night, it was easier to sneak out of bed and run into the woods.
When I was far enough from civilization, I hit a rock with my full strength that was about six and a half yards high and wide. With a loud banging I hit the rock like a punching bag and within fifteen seconds smashed it until only pebbles lay in front of me.
That lying bitch!
I uprooted a tree and threw it against another one a hundred meters away. It splintered and fell over.
I ran my hands over my face up to my hair.
I wasn't allowed to freak out like that. Not because of that scum and their affair. Edward, that fucking ass, upset me much more.
I clenched my hands into fists.
That bastard! Again I remembered Bella's expression on the stairs when she had found out. She had trusted him blindly and this ... this pig of a man just took advantage of it!
I hit a tree.
How I wished it was Edward I could beat up like that. But that would hurt Esmé.
After my anger eventually subsided, I decided to go hunting.
That I almost bit Bella yesterday was unforgivable. Her scent simply overwhelmed me - and in addition, I had not been hunting for a long time and was thirsty. Completely negligent of me to go thirsty to her!
So now I followed the relatively fresh scent of a bear. On the way I met a herd of deer. Before they saw me, I had already half done and drunk up.
Grass eaters were gross, but better than nothing.
Right in front of me was the bear. He was bending over a small stream and drinking the water. I jumped and sank my teeth into his neck.
My teeth slid through the layers of fat as if through butter. The blood flowed out and I could drink it with relish.
It was ten times better than a stinking stag, but no comparison to how Bella's blood had smelled.
I didn't want to go home yet, so I ran around - all the way to Canada and back - just so I had something to do.
When the sun was already a little over its zenith, I decided to run back towards home. Nearby, I heard someone else running in the same direction. I took a deep breath of the surrounding air and immediately recognized her scent.
"Alice, what are you doing here?", I asked in a normal voice. Of course she would hear me.
With a silent jump, she was next to me.
"I went to Bella's and took her to the doctor. The wrist isn't broken, just sprained," she said. "Oh ... Emmett."
She started running slower and I matched her.
"Why did I smell your scent in Bella's room and on Bella?", she asked skeptically.
Alice should become a spy, really!
"I wanted to make sure she wasn't alone," I replied.
"You could have sent me there, too. Did you sleep at her place!?"
"Alice, silly girl, vampires can't sleep." Her questioning was getting on my nerves. I didn't want to talk about the subject.
In the corner of my eye, I could see her rolling her eyes.
She took my hand and stopped.
"Do you love her, Emmett?" she asked.
Whaaaat ...? How could she have thought of that?
My facial expression seemed to be enough for her as an answer.
"You know, Emmett - when Bella first came to this school back in the day and I had the first visions of her, there were different possibilities. I saw her dead, I saw her as a vampire, I saw her marrying Edward."
She paused and looked me in the eye.
"But I also had a few visions where she was with you. I paid no further attention to them, thinking it was a strange freak of nature. You were with Rose at the time, and I didn't see any separation. Although I must say I never paid much attention to your future either."
I was shocked. If I had had another heartbeat, it would have been two hundred at this news. Alice had really seen me and Bella together?
"Have you told anyone?", I asked.
"Don't worry, Em. I thought it was too illogical at the time, so I didn't think it was worth mentioning. And you are the first to know about the vision. I'm not going to tell anyone. You know, I'd really like it if you got together. You both deserve better than Rose and Edward," she explained to me.
My little sister could be really incredibly annoying sometimes, but I just had to hug her for that statement.
"Thank you, Alice," I said, and then we ran on in silence.
Me with a big grin on my face.
When we were close enough to the house, we heard the others outside our house.
When we arrived, I saw Edward and Rosalie down in front of the porch steps - Esmé between Carlisle and Jasper on the porch.
"Go now! You are no longer part of our family, as much as it pains me. But you have done something unforgivable," Carlisle said in a pained but firm voice. "You have hurt two of our family members very badly."
"WHAT? Yu don't really count Bella as family, do you? She's just a weak little human!", Rose shouted.
With one leap I was with her and hurled her against a tree.
I couldn't let her talk about Bella like that with impunity.
Esmé held her hands in front of her mouth in fright, Jasper and Carlisle each held Edward on one side.
Probably he had tried to attack me when I had hurled his beloved affair into the forest.
"Go now," Carlisle ordered.
Edward turned and jumped to Rosalie, and they disappeared into the forest together.
