Chapter 2 ( warning: kissing and other vampire activities ) All characters belong to Stephanie Meyer.

"I-" I said gasping for unneeded air, suddenly I had no idea why I was there and I had trouble focusing on anything other than the fact that the man that stood in front of me was...

Handsome. To say the least.

"I'm here to teach you to respect your masters!" I tried again, clearing my throat

"Have I done anything to offend you, my lady?"

Had you? I wanted to scream. Why was he looking so confused, he knows what he did.

"Well, for one, you insinuated that my marriage was loveless. My marriage is anything but! We... love each other"

"Oh, that. My sincere apologies if you perceived it as disrespect. I meant it lovingly, my lady" the blond man said with sincerity.

If he thought that I, Sulpicia Volturi, was going to give up. He had another thing coming.

But, if he wasn't going to play all his cards right away then I wasn't either.

"Would you come in?," he asked "I feel so foolish for intruding in such a manner, let me make it up to you with some good conversation at least"

No, no, no, in no universe would I sit and speak with a pet in his chamber.

"Alright then"

He answered my agreeance with a smile, opening the door and leading me away from a large table with beakers and strange greenery to a seating area beside his bed.

This man was a mess. Not only his living quarters but his mind. They were all messed up.

"That is my current experiment," he said pointing to a mortar with a strange green paste inside

"Whatever is it for?"

"To cure pigs and other animals from different types of illnesses"

"Wow"

Perhaps I'd underestimated this young physician.

"It's in its early stages but I hope to have it done by next week," he said bashfully

"That is impressive, how do you know what works for what"

"Mostly trial and error, my lady"

What trials I wanted to scoff. But I held my tongue, out of respect. Not for him of course but I had been somewhat of a botanist myself when I was mortal and as much as I hated to admit it I tried to cling on to some of my past at least.

"Would you show me?" I said as his eyes lit up

"Very well!" He said leading me to his table

He walked me through every step of the way mentioning some herbs I knew and some I did not and explaining the reason for that specific combination.

"Tis quite easy actually, you just mix them like this," he said using the pestle to grind the fresh hyssop he had picked "Do you want to try?"

I nodded my head yes and took over.

Apparently, I hadn't done it correctly as after a minute or two he stepped behind me and placed his hands over mine to begin guiding me through the process. If I could blush, I would've.

"The Hyssop looks like your eyes," he said returning to his place beside me.

He noticed. Aro didn't notice such things.

"Lilac was my favorite color," I said inching closer to his face

"Was?"

And before he could color yet another conversation dark blue with depression I closed the space between us

His lips were soft like satin and he smelled like whatever had been brewing before I came in, I didn't mind, I wanted more. Not in an animalistic way like before, no, now I wished for a deeper connection. I wanted to stroke his hair and listen to him talk about things he noticed. Things no one else noticed.

I wasn't aware of the time, it could have been midnight or closer to sunrise and after this moment it all felt awfully irrelevant.

"I didn't- we shouldn't" the physician stammered and pulled away

"It's alright"

"No, no, I can not. I must ask you to leave now, my lady"

Moments from earlier tonight ran through my head as I looked at the ceiling

Before he kicked me out we had, had a nice time, I surprisingly enjoyed his company quite a lot. But like with everything I had to go and ruin it.

It hasn't always been like this, not before...

"Aro," the pale man said shaking my hand

"Sulpicia, I like your name"

"I like your eyes, cara mia. You run this shop?"

"Yes."

He nodded as if taking a silent note of it.

"All alone? No family"

"No, I have always been quite self-sufficient" and orphaned but that wasn't an appropriate first meeting conversation.

"Perfect"

The lurid man said before taking my hand and spinning me around. I didn't know who he was, not really. All I knew was that he was rich, a good stalker and he wanted me.

The girls in my village had seen him around, stalking, looking, but only at night. And only at me.

"What are you thinking about, Amore?"

"Amore?"

"Don't you feel it too? Our connection" he said swaying me softly

"We only just met and I-I'm engaged" I stammered under his intense gaze

He did not like that. His eyes immediately darkened

"That's a crying shame, well you'll learn"

"Learn what?" A sudden panic overwhelmed my senses

He now looked completely different to me, going from a sweet stranger to a predator in a matter of seconds. My words suffocated in my throat and I felt like I couldn't breathe, I wanted to run. But I couldn't

He sighed

"A real shame.. and they liked you so much too"

Suddenly, out of the shadows, four people in cloaks emerged

Two men, one blond and another one brunette were accompanied by a beautiful woman each.

"My family, Tesoro. That's Marcus" he said pointing to the brunette man "That's Caius along with his wife Athenadora and the woman there is Marcus's wife, Didyme"

"G-Get away from me," I said picking up the nearest object to defend myself

"I'm here to offer you something you can't refuse"

"I want nothing from you"

"You'll want this. I can offer you eternal life"

I closed my eyes as he traced his cold finger across my face

"I don't..." my voice once again failed me

The others had now circled me, making me trapped. I had a feeling this wasn't an offer I was allowed to refuse

"Please." He pleaded

"Alright"

His eyes regained the same charm they had, had earlier and he looked almost giddy. What was he going to do to me? As I looked around I noticed my decision had pleased the others as well because each one of them was smiling, If not at me then at one another.

"It will only hurt for a second," he said while slowly moving my hair out of the way and leaning in closer

I was suddenly filled with the most paralyzing agony I had ever felt. I was basically on fire. Why weren't they helping me?

As I let blood-curdling scream after blood-curdling scream, which more than likely sounded like mere moans to the others I felt my conscience slip away.

When I awoke I felt different. I wasn't at my shop anymore but instead at a lavish castle, I wasn't familiar with.

"You're awake, dearest" The woman earlier introduced as Didyme said, "How are you feeling?"

My throat burned. Badly.

Across the room a luxurious mirror stood teasing me, forcing me to look

My previously tan skin had now turned into a marble white, the same color as the others, and my violet eyes were now a dark shade of red.

"Bad" I whined

"Aww, we'll fix that for you" Didyme cooed as she lifted me into a sitting position

"This will make it all better" Athenadora chimed in, dragging a young woman into the room by her arm "Drink," she said nodding towards the woman's arm.

And drink I did.

With no hesitation, I sunk my teeth into her arm and devoured her. The crimson liquid slowly filled my mouth and traveled even slower down my throat, the burning sensation very gradually started disappearing and numbing my body. I wasn't a very religious person but this overshadowed any church experience I had ever been through.

As thoughts of my previous life flashed before my eyes a wave of anger started building up. I didn't need them. Any of them.

I wouldn't bow to anyone now.

I was reborn.

A/N: so what do we think about this little Sulpicia background story? Also, did you see what I unintentionally did? Since Aro touched her hand he was able to hear when she thought about being an orphan ( what starts as weird dialogue turns into smart writing ). If you're reading this, that means I currently have all the chapters written and I'm just sitting on them and waiting to post. See you next time thank you for reading.
