Hello and welcome sinners! I'm finally posting the new chapter and I know that Hazbin Hotel has officially come out on Amazon Prime, but I want you all to know that I make no promises to put in any of the canon stuff. Maybe here and there but I'm already so deep into my story that I might not be able to put anything in. So please keep this in mind when reading my stories further. I'll keep the stuff that happened in the show in mind, but I still make no promises on what I will and will not put. Thank you all!
Time for Elena to start second grade, but she still has to face old enemies but she also might make a new friend.
Ch 20: Second Grade
[Third Person POV]
That last month of Elena's school vacation was finally over before they could blink. That time camping in the woods behind their house was something the little family needed for sure. Besides relaxing, Alastor did promise to show Elena some of her magic. It was hard for the girl but with a little bit of practice and her father's guidance, she was able to make a small flame appear on the tip of her finger. She was so excited and surprised she would be able to do it. Most of the time the fire just appeared then disappeared, but she was able to hold the flame out for a decent amount of time and put it out as well.
Heart was happy to see her daughter improve, even if it was a small steppingstone. It made her feel better that she could learn to control it. Then again who knows how her emotions will affect her. Eventually Heart would teach her how to try and shapeshift, if she even could, but that would have to be a little bit after she has the new baby.
Besides the magic training, they had a wonderful time in the woods and even swam in the small stream that the waterfall fell into. It's been a while since they swam in the stream, so it was nice to just float around. Elena had fun jumping in and learning to swim around.
After that weekend, they just spend a lot of time at home or at the hotel. She was excited for school to be starting, mainly because she was going to be in second grade now. She told Sam, who was happy to hear the news and was excited to see her when the school year started. They hang out at the hotel, especially when Sam's parents would be away for a decent amount of time doing their work. Elena took it as a fun sleepover time when Sam was over.
Eventually the time arrived when it was the start of the new school year. Elena rode in the back of the car as her parents drove her to school. There was so much excitement as the first day was always interesting. Plus, she wondered what her teacher this year would be like. The only thing she didn't want to enjoy was seeing CJ again. Hopefully, she didn't have to sit next to him again this year.
Alastor pulled up into the parking lot and parked the car. "Welp, first day of second grade. You excited?" He asked as he turned the car off and turned in his seat to look at the girl in the back.
Elena nodded, "I am! I earned to be here and I won't let that slip again."
"Good, do you need me to come in with you to find your room?" Heart wondered.
"I'll be ok mommy; I have the number written down in my notebook so I won't forget." The young hybrid answered, "Besides you having trouble walking."
"My wolf, remember what Dr. Talon said, you need to stay off your feet for a bit." Alastor reminded her.
Heart huffed. "I know. This extra weight isn't doing me any good. I've been fine though. It's normal for feet to swell when you're pregnant. It happened with Elena too." Heart pointed out.
"Yes, that's true, but you gained more weight this time around with this fawn. You need to be aware of that." The radio demon told her.
The woman sighed. "Fine." She looked at her daughter. "I know you'll be ok Elena. Try to enjoy your first day ok?"
Elena nodded, "I'll be ok mommy, promise." The girl says and hugs both her parents while in the car before getting out.
The parents watched her as the girl walked away from the car and headed into the building.
"Hopefully this will be a good year for her." Heart said, a little worried.
"I think it will. She'll be ok." Alastor reassured her.
She sighed. "Fingers crossed then."
They watched the girl walk into the building and they both let out a sigh. Alastor started the car back up. "Come my love, let's go home and try to see if we can help your feet a bit."
Heart rolled her eyes, knowing she wasn't going to get out of this, "Fine fine. Mother hen."
Alastor laughed a little before he drove off back home.
Elena walked down the halls, looking at her notebook with her homeroom number scribbled inside. She was further back in the school this year, in the very back corner of the first floor of the school. Soon she found room 181 and walked in. As she did, the room looked like any other she'd been in. Same cubbies for her to hold her stuff in so she looked around until she found a spot with her name. Smiling, she put her bag into the cubby and looked around the room at the desks.
The desks were in lines across the room, facing the front board. She looked and saw that names were on the desk so that kids could find their assigned seats. At about the second row in, third desk, was her name. She smiled and sat down in the chair. She looked at the desks around her to see what names were on it, none of them said CJ, she sighed in relief. He wasn't anywhere near her this year.
Soon enough other kids were coming in. Sam arrived and the imp said hello to her friend first before finding her seat. She was all the way in the back unfortunately, but either way she was glad to see her friend again. Then she spotted the bully hellhound, he was sitting in the back as well, luckily not next to Sam. The boy glared at her as he sat down. Elena looked on either side of her to see a shark demon on one and a goat on the other. At least they didn't seem to mind her as they waved hi. They seemed as nervous as she was.
After a few minutes, the bell rang for school to start. Everyone was in the room as the teacher walked in finally. The teacher was a horse looking demon with a slender face. She had short gray fur all over her body and a black mane with a horse-like tail sticking out from the dark yellow dress she was wearing. She went to the board and wrote her name, Miss. Troft.
"Good morning class, welcome to your first day of second grade." She greeted everyone with a small southern accent.
Most of the kids said good morning back.
After roll call and everyone was in attendance it was time for the little introductions to begin. Elena knew about half her class. Most of them were from her past grades so she was familiar. She avoided CJ and his friends as much as possible though. She didn't want him doing anything on the first day. Although there was this one girl who seemed to be a bit big for her desk that was sitting in the front. Maybe she was older? The girl didn't know but she never got around to talking to her before the teacher wanted to go over some small things about classes.
Before they knew it, it was time for recess so they formed a line to head outside and play on the playground of the school. Elena and Sam managed to get to the swings before others and have some fun before CJ came over to ruin it.
"Gryaznaya krov, fancy meeting you on the first day. I thought you got held back." He laughed as his imp friends were around him.
Elena still kept swinging slowly as she looked at the hellhound. "For your information, I had to do summer school just to pass. So no, I didn't get held back."
"Yea…only because daddy convinced the principal to do it." The boy said with an intimidating high-pitched voice.
"My father did what he had to so that I could get through school. It was my own mistake and I was ok with what I had to do." The girl said.
"It's honestly none of your business to begin with, flea bag. Get lost." Sam said with an annoyed tone.
"I know it's not my business but I'm making it anyway. Shut your mouth before I shut it for you." CJ threatened.
Elena then stopped swinging. "Leave Sam alone. Leave us both alone CJ. I don't know what you have to pick on me out of all the other demons."
The hellhound slanted his eyes, "Because you're not a real demon…Born of sinners. Disgusting….That makes you different. Dirty. Scum."
Elena looked at him with her ears down. "I am a demon."
"More like a wunna be demon." the one imp boy said laughing.
Sam stood from the swing and went up to the boy. "Your no better than any other trash stain out in the city."
CJ laughed. "Thanks for pointing that out, Captain Obvious."
With that the imps took Sam and pushed her aside and CJ went and pushed Elena off the swing. The girl flips in the chair and lands face first in the rocks under her. The boy then steps on her back and pulls her tail, making her cry out. Elena tried to push him off her but he then put his foot on her hand. She started to cry now from the pain and now she couldn't get up. Being left at his mercy.
It didn't last for much longer as CJ got pushed off the girl and a loud grunt was heard above her.
"Glory to friendship!" A voice cried out above Elena as more grunts and cries were heard after the war cry, along with the sound of punches and kicks.
Elena eventually looked up from where she covered her face and saw someone else fighting off CJ and his little gang of imps. Sam rushed over and helped the girl up making sure she was ok before watching the fight as well. "Damn they are brutal." She said, extremely impressed.
The fight was soon over as the victor stood before the pile of beat-up imps and hellhound. The young person-which revealed to be a young white fox/dragon hybrid girl in a warrior type outfit-huffed for a bit then shouted at them. "You shall no longer mess with the weak while the great Titania is around!"
Elena thought them odd with how they were as she looked closely at the girl. She had an ear tilted in her confusion. They weren't a demon she'd ever seen before in hell. She tried to put the thought aside as she went up to them with her tail wrapped around her waist. "Thank you...for helping me I mean. I've never had anyone else besides Sam stick up for me."
The young girl known as Titania looked behind her to see who spoke of her. She smiled big and got close to Elena, along with stepping on the imps who were in her path. "It is my pleasure to serve and help in those who need help young one."
Sam leans into Elena's ear, "I think they've seen too many Viking movies or something." She whispered as she thought the girl was a little strange.
Elena chuckled and shook her head from her friend's words. "Well good thing to have you on our side then." She held her hand out. "I'm Elena, by the way."
Titania grabs Elena's hand in a grip and violently shakes her whole arm in excitement. "Titania's name is Titania! Titania the Almighty Valkyrie!"
The girl was surprised by the handshake. Luckily, her arm didn't fall off as she managed to get it out of the other girl's grip. "Damn, your strong." She whispered as she flexed her hand to make sure she still had digits. After the pain wore off she managed to say. "Thank you again, Titania. I saw you in class up front, but I've never seen you in school before till today. Were you homeschooled?"
"I was, but then my mother and father thought it be a perfect time for the Almighty to head off on an adventure to find their own path. And Titania has decided to protect and to defend the commons from any enemies."
She said as she made a proud pose. The imp beneath her was groaning in pain but she didn't care to move.
"Well, you definitely have a fine adventure ahead of you." Elena smiled as her tail wagged. "How about I join your battle party? We can talk and get to know one another."
The young warrior's eyes lit up and sparkled. Her tail wags in excitement as she brings both Sammy and Elena in for a big hug. "Titania loves the idea!"
The imp was surprised by the hug, but she couldn't really fight it as the hybrid had a tight grip on them both. She sighed and just let the hug happen.
Elena just let Titania hug her as she gave a small chuckle. "Wonderful. How about you come over after school today? I'm sure my parents would like to meet you." Plus, to know that she would definitely be safe in school now with this new friend around. They might enjoy the thought of her being nearby.
The little warrior finally let go of them with a big smile on her face. "Titania accepts your invitation!"
"Wonderful. I can't wait for you to meet my parents." Elena said excitedly with a wave.
The three girls chatted throughout the day, having a fun time on their first day of school. Sammy and Elena learned a little about Titania: she wanted to become the fiercest Valkyrie in Hell and wants to protect the innocent who were unfortunate to be in Hell.
Elena thought the girl was amazing and disputed her having a weird way of talking but that's what made her cool. She probably would love her Aunt Charlie's hotel if she wanted to protect the innocent.
After the day was over, it was time to leave. It was the best first day of school ever for her. They walked out of the school together and Heart spotted her parents in the parking lot. She ran up to them happily.
"Mom! Dad! I made a new friend today!" She said happily as she ran up to them.
"Aw that is wonderful pup. Can we meet them?" Heart asked as she hugged her daughter.
"Of course!" Elena said happily and went over to the small warrior and brought her forward. "This is Titania. Titania, meet my parents." Her tail wagged with so much excitement.
Heart looked at the girl and for some reason her brain started to dig deep…the girl almost looked familiar despite never meeting her before.
"We'll its very wonderful to meet you." Alastor greeted. "From the way you're dressed, I say you a little warrior for sure. Keeping my girl out of trouble I hope?"
"Titania will be a Almighty Valkyrie! Protect all those who need protecting!" The girl responded.
Alastor thought her way of speaking was strange but accepted it. "Very well."
"Mom. Dad. Can she come over today?" Elena asked them.
"We have to go straight to the hotel, I hope you know that." Heart reminded.
The girl nodded, "I know, but I wanted her to meet Aunt Charlie and everyone else."
"Can I come to? My parents aren't here so they must be on a mission." Sam asked as she walked up beside Elena.
"Well, no harm in it. Everyone hop into the car and let's go." Alastor said and helped the girls into the car.
On the drive there, they all talked in the back and had a lot of fun. When they arrived at the hotel it was chaos now with three little girls running around the place. None of the others were around to meet Elena's new friend so she took them to her room at the hotel and was excited to show them stuff. The whole time though, Heart's mind was working. Thinking of the girl her daughter had befriended. It was just too weird for her to feel this way.
So much to the point her husband noticed.
Alastor walked up beside Heart on the couch, "My wolf, what's the matter? Is the little one bothering you again?"
That snapped her out of thought, "Huh? Oh no. No, I'm fine. Just lost in thought is all."
"Penny for your thoughts?" He asked as he sat down.
"Something about that girl I can't put my finger on. I feel she is familiar to me…but this is my first time meeting her so it makes no sense." Heart said aloud.
"Hmm, I guess so. I have that same feeling as well. It's odd to me." Alastor admitted.
"But who though?" The hybrid put a finger to her chin in thought.
The two sat there talking a bit about it till Sam's parents came over to the hotel to get her. She said her goodbyes and left the two new friends alone.
"T, what about your parents? Don't you think they'll be worried about where you are?" Elena asked.
The little warrior holds out a small phone in hand. Smiling and waving it around. "Titania has a calling! Titania has already informed their ma and papi."
"You have a phone already? Man, I'm jealous." Elena said, surprised. "My parents say I'm not ready for a phone yet."
"You haven't given us a reason to do so." Alastor answered as he walked up behind the girls.
"Right and having her runaway from school and missing 2 months of class isn't a reason?" Heart said annoyed. "I've been wanting to get you a phone Elena but your dad tells me no."
"Of course." Elena huffed then turned back to Titania. "So, are they going to come pick you up then?"
Titania smiles with a nod then runs around in all four. She had sudden zoomies.
Elena looked at her with a raised eyebrow but chuckled. "Are you part dog or something?" She asked, still chuckling.
The little warrior only laughs then tackles Elena down playfully. Elena laughs at this and falls to the ground with the girl. Heart and Alastor watched with smiles on their faces as the two had fun.
"Thats to cute." Heart whispered to her husband.
"Strange child but as long as Elena's happy." Was all the deer said back.
After a while at the Hotel, a car pulls up to the building and a couple get out of the car. Then they walked to the door and opened it.
When the doors opened, the adults stopped and turned towards it. They were about to greet the two standing in the doorway but they both just stopped and stared at who they saw. They might have seen a ghost. The couple smiled at the adults. A remarkably familiar white fox and an owl-cat stood before Alastor and Heart.
"We're here to pick up our kid." The white fox spoke up. Smiling fondly at the other couple.
The whole lobby was silent. Even Elena stopped playing with the girl as she ran over to the fox now. All three of them were just in shock at her but not only that, but surprised Husk was even with her. Titania laughs and goes to go tackle her dad down but was caught by him with a laugh. Husk chuckles as he gives his kiddo a noogie while she bites his hand.
Heart's mouth hung open; she looked like a fish out of water. She wanted to say something but nothing came out. Was it really who she thought it was?
The radio demon, on the other hand, was almost pale. Like he saw a ghost. Was it actually her? It had to be. There was no other demon that looked like her in all his years of being in this hellish landscape.
"Veronica?" Was all Alastor said before the deer demon promptly fainted.
"Alastor!" Heart was surprised and kneeling down next to her husband on the floor.
Veronica knelt down next to Alastor as well to check on her old friend.
As quickly as he went down, Alastor quickly sat back up and his eyes were wide as he looked at the fox. "I'm not dreaming, am I? I know I've gone crazy but am I dreaming?"
The little fox laughs and gives her brother figure a hug, "It's not a dream my dear little brother."
The deer demon was never one for hugs, except for his wife, but as soon as she hugged him he quickly wrapped his arms around her tightly. "I thought you were dead." He said softly.
"We all thought you were dead." Heart added in a whisper.
"Well, it's a helluva story to tell." Veronica said softly.
"You knew all along she was alive, Husk?" Heart asked, she sounded a little upset.
"And didn't tell us?" Alastor said annoyed.
"Alastor." His wife nudged him softly. "I'm sure there was a valid reason for all this. I'd like to hear the explanation of how you hid a kid these last few years."
Indeed, there was a very good explanation, and one helluva story it was. Veronica had explained how she was dealing with an abusive ex of hers: how he treated her, beat her, and nearly killed her on numerous occasions. She still loved him despite all that. She thought that maybe it would help change him and make their lives a bit better, so she went to Dr. Talon. Eventually, along the way, she found out she was pregnant and the father was the ex-who ended up not liking the news as she would have hoped. Which led to her endless torment with him. She would have died if it weren't for Husker being there for her. It was all thanks to Husk who had saved her. He was the one who took care of her in secret since it was her request. She didn't want anyone to find out about any of this, let alone worry about her. So, she ran away from the hotel without a word to anyone. They kept it all a secret; her child, their relationship, how they killed the ex, and lived together while hiding all this information from others.
Husk was taking care of Titania while Veronica explained everything to the adults. Heart and Alastor were on the couch beside them as they talked, she needed to sit anyway considering her feet were starting to hurt. Elena was beside Heart, leaning against her as she too was feeling sleepy, but wanted to hear the story Veronica told. Heart having her one arm wrapped around the girl.
The couple listened to this story to be surprised by all that had happened to her. It made them feel bad that they never realized what was happening or what had gone on during that time. If she was hiding it, she did an excellent job of it.
"So...Dr. Talon knew all along as well what was happening? He must be in on it, I assume." Heart asked.
Veronica and Husk nodded.
"He was the one who told me I was expecting a baby. What a little warrior she is." The little fox says as she pets her daughter's head who fell asleep on Husk's lap. "Five times with no success, yet the sixth was a miracle."
"She defiantly is special and it makes me happy to see you happy as well. I just wish I could have been there for you at the beginning." Heart said, a little saddened.
Alastor had an arm wrapped around his wife through all this, "True, I wish I was as well. But my question in this is...why now did you decide to come back after all this time?" He wondered.
"Two reasons: one, this little ankle-biter won't stop wanting an adventure, so we decided she can go to school. Two, figured it was time to be known by you guys finally." The fox explained.
"I'm proud of you my friend, for stepping up. Never pictured you as a father figure." Alastor said to Husk.
Heart rolled her eyes. "Says you Mr. Radio Demon." Heart joked around with him with a smile.
"Ah you got me there my dear, but I think I do pretty good so far." The man smiled. "I know this new little one will most likely be a challenge though."
"Possibly." She shook her head and looked back at Veronica. "So, I guess Husk keeps you in the loop of things at the hotel since you've been gone?"
"So and so. I didn't want to bother my sweet husband knowing he's been working hard for the family he has now." Veronica says while giving a sweet kiss on the cheek to Husk. He blushes but smiles fondly at his wife.
"That is honestly fair. I know I don't like to bug Al on certain things. I hope Husk at least told you I was pregnant again though?" Heart told her with a chuckle. "If it wasn't obvious."
Veronica smiles. "He didn't need to tell me, I can already tell hon. Call it, a mother's intuition." She said as she rubs her own belly.
The hybrid chuckled. "Ok you got me there. You were always good at having motherly instincts." She looked at the fox with a sad look. "I really missed you these last few years. I know Al hasn't taken it that well either...even though he won't admit it." The deer looked away at her statement. "But I hope with our girls being friends you'll be around a lot more now?" She looked down at Elena who finally fell asleep herself. "I know she's missed you to, even though she was still really young around the time you left."
Veronica gets up and hugs both Heart and Alastor, but hugs Alastor more, "I'm not going anywhere sweethearts. Mama Veronica is back and here to stay."
They both hugged her back tightly.
"It will be good to have you back my friend." Alastor says with a hint of emotion in his voice.
With that, the adults had a wonderful time that night. Husk and Veronica stayed a bit longer but had to leave to go tuck in their daughter for bed. It was an unforgettable night for all. Alastor and Heart eventually went back home as well. They had a long day and were so tired, emotionally. It was wonderful to see Veronica again and made them happy she came back into their lives when they needed it.
Things looked bright at the moment and they didn't want to lose that.
Finally! Elena goes to the second grade. Make a friend. Then find out Veronica is back. Sorry, this took so long. Since Veronica is my GF's character I wanted to roleplay the scenes with her to make it easier for her character. Even so, I hope it was worth it ^^
