Lucrezia woke up too well rested this morning … that usually wasn't the case on a school day.
Hearing the birds having a conversation outside her room told her that she was late…
Running out of her room to the bathroom not bothering putting on her socks to walk the cold hallway floor. She opened the bathroom door to her pet pug waiting outside.
"Barney, we're late c'mon!" Lucrezia said while she walked to her mom's bedroom.
Her mom looked so comfy in her big bed; she looked so small whenever she laid down in the bed with dad.
"Mom. mom!" she whispered first then raised her voice louder while shaking her mom's shoulder.
Once her mom woke up she was all caught up on what was happening...
"shoot shoot shoot!" her mom got up
Both mom and daughter got dressed... well daughter did… mom just slipped on a pair of boots and called it a day.
"What happened mom?" Lucrezia asked while she put on her knee socks in the car.
"Oh yea um.. just couldn't sleep you know?" Her mom answered thinking Lucrezia wouldn't notice how weird she acted when she spoke...
"Is everything oka-!"
The car suddenly jerked to the right from whatever hit the car
"Oh wow" Lucrezia looked from the side view mirror and saw a flash of fur
"Hey, are you okay?"
"Yea I'm fine, you?"
"Yea I'm fine" her mom answered while she unbuckled her seatbelt and stepped out of the car.
"Yea mom, I think it was a bear" Lucrezia said following her mom out of the car.
Lucrezia stopped to where her mom was and saw what she was looking at
"Is that a paw print?" Lucrezia bent down to touch the dent but her mom grabbed her hand before she could.
"You know... yea your right it looks like a bear paw"
But Lucrezia's mom knew it was no bear paw print... it was much too big.
"Okay, wow look at the time, we gotta go!"
Lucrezia's cell phone rang from inside the car.
"C'mon we gotta get going" Lucrezia and her mom head back inside
Lucrezia grabbed her phone from her backpack and sees that it's her friend from school calling
"Tori hi!"
"Lucrezia, where are you? The bell just rang. We're all heading inside first period now" Lucrezia could hear the other students in the background talking.
"I know I know. I'm late but I'm not too far away. I'm hurrying"
This was probably the first time she was running late for school so her friend had a good reason to call her…
"Okay mom gotta go."
"oka- wait you didn't bring your lunch" Her mom suddenly realizing while she got out of the car and grabbing her backpack.
"Yea, I just grabbed whatever was in the fruit bowl" her mom face palmed at her answer.
"it's okay I got money in my bag bye!" Lucrezia said while putting her tie around her neck not having time tie it…
Trying to run and fixing her school uniform was harder than it looks.
"Sor-!"
So much for trying to not get noticed being late... Had she not still held the door handle she would've been actually sitting on the floor.
"Walk it off, walk it off" she recognized her friend teasing voice.
Everyone laughed while her teacher asked if she was okay.
"Mmm hmm" Lucrezia managed to squeak out without laughing too.
"Hey, so what happened?" Tori whispered while she motioned her hand to get closer so she can fix her school tie that she still had around untied.
She then thought about that big paw print... Was it really a bear?
"C'mon Barney!"
Paul remembered that day.
He always would.
Lucrezia running, with her little squishy face dog through her backyard that was next to the forest.
He watched her while still being phased, Lucrezia playing with her dog barefoot.
He wanted to laugh when she was telling her dog to do some tricks for treats. It was funny because her dog was as almost as big as she was. It had Paul wondering why she would want such a small dog? Then Paul thought if she would like him being such a big canine himself…
"Sit! … okay now roll over!"
Her dog then jumped on her making her fall back, Paul without thinking he started to take a step forward to see if she was okay… but then he remembered he had four legs right now...
She laughed and praised her dog and gave it a treat.
"Good boy!" she rubbed its head and kissed its face…. making Paul almost getting pretty jealous of the lucky fur ball…
"Barney? barney what's wrong?"
"Uh oh" Paul thought.
Barney definitely had some good senses if he could find Paul...
Lucrezia's dog stood up looking straight at where Paul was trying to hide
"Barney! wait no!" Her dog ran to where Paul was.
Paul quickly ran back.
"Can't believe I'm running from a little dog" Paul thought while he continued to run.
He stopped running once he realized he didn't want Lucrezia running deep into the woods by herself. He turned around and faced the dog.
"Damn what's the point of reading a wolf thoughts if I can't talk to this dog!" Paul thought.
He then decided to scare it away a bit... but feeling kind of bad since it was la Lucrezia's dog...
"Barney!"
She was getting close fast, and she wouldn't like to see two big dogs in front to her..
Paul made one last attempt to shoo her dog away back to her. As soon as her dog heard the crunchy leaves from Lucrezia coming, her dog looked behind him and Paul took that second to run back to hide.
"Barney! Why did you run like that? you know better!"
Paul forgot to breathe for second... He was able to really get a good look at her.
She was so beautiful.
But she was really cute too, she looked like an actual doll. Paul just wanted to squeeze her cute baby face. He wondered how her parents were.
She had a face no one could say no to…
"Paul"
Paul's happy memory was now interrupted...
"Paul phase back" Paul didn't even question who was talking to him... he knew that big old black wolf from anywhere..
"So that's how you met her" Sam teased now both phased back.
Paul just glared at his alpha...
"Jared said that you weren't at school today... and your dad said that you haven't been home since that night either."
"That's the last place where I wanna be" Paul said while sitting himself on a log.
Sam really felt for Paul…
"You know, I've actually known Roger pretty much all my life" Sam said while he sat down next to Paul.
"Roger grew up here on the reservation, not too far from here actually."
Paul looked at Sam for a moment "How do you know him?"
Sam smiled; he knew Paul was now curious but didn't want him to show it...
"He was there when I was younger, like a big brother. He was friends with old Quil and Billy too. Yea, he was really popular here on the reservation. They even use to say he was like an Elvis Presley here too; all the girls here loved him." Sam playfully nudged Paul, knowing he was a flirt too.
"D-.. Did you know Lucrezia?" Paul asked trying to hide his eager
Sam smiled now replaying an old memory "Yea, I remember Roger holding Lucrezia because she was too heavy for her mom to carry since she was pretty big baby."
Paul and Sam laughed a bit "Yea and I remember he was like 'here Sam you're strong, hold her for a minute' and I remember being scared of like dropping her or breaking her."
Paul continued to have a smile while Sam talked about Lucrezia.
"Roger just said 'She's like 20 something pounds, you can't hurt her.'"
Paul smiled, imagining a young Sam holding a baby.
"Yea, Roger left here. He joined marines then once he served, he got accepted to Harvard, then after he went to medical school."
"He's a doctor?"
"Surgeon. Yea he went to medical school in California and had to stay there for a while since he got a job there too."
Paul was quiet for a moment letting all that sink in... "So, we're dealing with Mr. successful."
Sam laughed a little "Well when Roger left for school, it hit me pretty hard... He was there when I was growing up and even played a big part when I first phased..."
Paul just stayed quiet, trying to hold his tongue...
Sam sighed "Roger isn't a bad man, Paul."
Paul scoffed loudly not even trying to hide his frustration anymore "Yea, him having his claws around my neck was a nice way to meet him."
Sam looks at Paul for a brief moment... preparing for his reaction to what he was going to say next...
"Paul... Roger imprinted on his wife."
Sam thought he was going to phase right then and there..
"WHAT! YOU ARE KIDDING ME?!"
Sam tried to calm him down but almost forgot who he was talking to too..
"He knows what I'm going through! Why would he be angry at this!?"
"Paul, Paul okay listen to me right now" Sam had to grab his shoulders to stop and listen to him
Paul took some hard deep breaths "Its messed up. He knows what this is and to tell me to stay awa-!"
"I know. I know Paul. We're on your side on this.. but Roger .. That night he felt your imprint. It was strong. Stronger then all of ours"
Chapter two! Yes, finally get to write more of the story and answer some questions. Roger is a child of the moon! Loved the idea in Twilight, since they didn't really go into details about them this was a great opportunity to give some shine on it. And to let you know Lucrezia is not a wolf, its just her dad. So there wont be anything about her phasing or anything. Already can't wait to post Ch. 3, and again feel free to comment.
