Chapter Seven: The Keeper of The Keys.

Previously in the last chapter.

"What was that?" Lily asked, concerned what the sound was.

"I don't know," Andromeda replied, also concerned what the sound was as well. "Could be a thunderstroke or something."

The whole shack shiver and Harry sat bolt upright, staring at the door. Someone was outside, knocking to come in.

"Oh, it's just a person knocking on the door," Andromeda stated, releasing a sigh of relief.

"That's good to hear," Lily agreed, closing her eyes with a smile.

Everyone else agreed with Andromeda…until they finally realized what she said. "WAIT, A PERSON IS KNOCKING ON THE DOOR?!

(In the Present)

"Who could be at the door?!" Lily exclaimed hysterically, greatly worried about her son, along with James and everyone else. "Is it a Death Eater?!"

"Could it be a monster from the sea?!" Emmeline exclaimed fearfully.

"Is Harry going to die?!" Nymphadora shouted, greatly scared her new friend in the future is going to get attack from something scary.

"Everyone, calm down!" Dumbledore ordered, raising his wand to released a mighty bang, enough to make everyone stop panicking and look towards him. "I do not think a Death Eater or a monster from the sea is at the door. I think it's a teacher from Hogwarts delivering Harry's letter to him."

At once, everyone became thoughtful after hearing Dumbledore's theory. It is a very possible said theory since the future teachers at Hogwarts, particularly Minerva, were probably getting extremely tired and frustrated at the fact Harry wasn't answering his letters, which finally made them send a teacher to deliver the letter in person. But there was uncertainty and doubt because a Death Eater or a monster from the sea could still be at the door.

For now, though, everyone will accept the theory, even if there was still uncertainty and doubt.

"Now, who wants to read the next chapter?" Dumbledore asked, looking around.

"ME!" Nymphadora shouted, raising her hand in the air like in class. "Me! Me! Me! I want to read the next chapter, Professor! Please?!"

"Very well, young one, you can read. Marlene, please hand the book to her."

Marlene complied with the request and handed the book to Nymphadora, who took it excitedly before looking at the chapter title. Upon reading it, she became confused. "What does the Keeper of The Keys mean?"

Hearing the chapter title made everyone, except Nymphadora, who still looked confused, looked towards Hagrid with wide eyes, hardly believing he was delivering Harry's letter. The huge man himself looked shocked, but soon beamed in happiness as his future self gets to see little Harry again ten years later.

Since no bothered to answer her question, Nymphadora began reading the fourth chapter in the book.

BOOM.

The person on the other side of the door knocked again. Dudley jerked awake.

"Where's the cannon?" Dudley asked stupidly.

Right off the bat, some people wanted to know what a cannon is, but a glare from Lily stopped them.

There was a crash behind Harry and Dudley and Uncle Vernon came skidding into the room. He was holding a rifle in his hands. Now they knew what had been in the long thin package he had brought with them.

"A rifle?!" Lily exclaimed in horror. "He bought and brought a rifle with them?!"

"What's a rifle?" Sirius asked, not liking how scared Lily is.

"Think of it as a Muggle version of the Killing Curse," Ted explained with a grim look on his face, getting shocked looks from the Purebloods. Muggles can make their own version of the Killing Curse?! That's insane and scary!

"Who's there?!" Uncle Vernon shouted. "I warn you – I'm armed!"

There was a pause. Then-

SMASH!

The door was hit with such force that it swung clean off its hinges and with a deafening crash landed flat on the floor. A giant of a man was standing in the doorway. His face was almost completely hidden by a long, shaggy man of hair and a wild tangled beard, but you could make out his eyes, glinting like black beetles under all the hair.

The giant squeezed his way into the hunt, stooping so that his head just brushed the ceiling. He bent down, picked up the door and fitted it easily back into its frame. The noise of the story outside dropped a little. He turned to look at everyone. "Couldn't make us a cup of tea, could you? It's not been an easy journey…" He strode over to the sofa where Dudley sat frozen with fear.

"Really, Hagrid?" Remus asked with an amused smile on his face once the shock of learning Muggles can make their versions of the Killing Curse wore off.

"You had to admit the journey towards the shack in the sea wasn't easy, Remus," Hagrid defended both himself and his future self. "Cut me some slack."

"Budge up, you great lump," The stranger said.

While half of the people were snickering at what Hagrid called Dudley, others were casting disapprove looks at him. It was not right to call a child fat.

Dudley squeaked and ran to hide behind his mother who was crouching, terrified, behind Uncle Vernon.

"And here's Harry!" The giant said. Harry looked up into the fierce, wild shadowy face and saw that the beetle eyes were crinkled in a smile. "Last time I saw you, you was only a baby. You look a lot like your dad, but you've got your mom's eyes."

James and Lily beamed at the description Hagrid gave to their son, but they were deeply sad he still doesn't know what they looked like.

Uncle Vernon made a funny rasping noise. "I demand that you leave at once, sir! You are breaking and entering!"

'Oh, shit! Mr. Dursley is still holding the rifle in his hands!' Both Lily and Ted thought at the same time as they gained worried looks on their faces. They had momentarily forgotten about the rifle when Hagrid made his entrance. Not only that, but they don't know if he can survive against a bullet. 'I hope Hagrid doesn't get killed.'

"Ah, shut up, Dursley, you great prune," The giant said, reaching over the back of the sofa, jerked the gun out of Uncle Vernon's hands, bent it into a knot as easily as if it had been made of rubber and threw it into a corner of the room.

Now, Lily and Ted became shocked at the action future Hagrid just did. They never thought a Muggle gun could easily be bent into a knot, which is impossible since no one can bend a gun, no matter how much pressure you put into it. They wondered if Hagrid's status made it easy to bend the gun, despite the fact the said status very much did.

Uncle Vernon made another funny noise like a mouse being trodden on.

"Anyway, Harry," The giant said, turning his back on the Dursleys. "A very happy birthday to you. Got something for you here – I might've sat on it at some point, but it'll taste all right." From an inside pocket of his black overcoat, he pulled a slightly squashed box. Harry opened it with trembling fingers. Inside was a large, sticky chocolate cake with Happy Birthday Harry written on it in green icing.

"Thank you, Hagrid," Lily said gratefully to the larger man who beamed in extreme happiness.

Moody, however, was shaking in his head and muttering lowly under his breath about not accepting things from strangers, along with constant vigilance.

Harry looked up at the giant. He meant to say thank you, but the words got lost on the way to his mouth and what said instead was, "Who are you?"

The giant chuckled. "True, I haven't introduced meself. Rubeus Hagrid, Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts." He held out an enormous hand and shook Harry's whole arm.

A couple people who had received Hagrid's handshakes daily silently cringed and held their arms. It was always uncomfortable whenever he does those handshakes.

"What about that tea then, eh?" The giant said, rubbing his hands together. "I'd not say no to somewhat stronger if you've got it, mind."

"Hagrid!" All the women, except Nymphadora, exclaimed in unison.

"What?" Hagrid said, taken aback from all the women's sudden exclaims.

"You're not supposed to ask for a strong drink or drink something strong around children! It's a bad thing!"

The giant's eyes fell on the empty grate with the shriveled chip bags in it and he snorted. He bent down over the fireplace; the Dursleys and Harry couldn't see what he was doing but when he drew back a second later, there was a roaring fire there. It filled the whole damp hunt with flickering light and Harry felt the warmth wash over him as though he'd sunk into a hot bath.

The giant sat back down on the soft, which sagged under his weight, and began taking all sorts of things out of the pockets of his coat: A copper kettle, a squashy package of sausages, a poker, a teapot, several chipped mugs and a bottle of some amber liquid that he took a swig from before starting to make tea.

Hagrid was wilting under the scrutinizing glares he is currently receiving from all the women.

Soon the hut was full of the sound and smell of sizzling sausage. Nobody said a thing while ethe giant was working, but as he slid the first six fat, juicy, slightly burnt sausages from the poker, Dudley fidgeted a little.

Uncle Vernon said sharply, "Don't touch anything he gives you, Dudley."

'Not planning on it, Muggle,' Hagrid thought with a dark expression on his face. 'Harry needs the food more than your pudding of a son.'

The giant chuckled darkly. "Your great pudding of a son don't need fattening anymore, Dursley, don't worry." He passed the sausages to Harry, who was so hungry he had never tasted anything so wonderful, but he still couldn't take his eyes off the giant.

Finally, as nobody seemed about to explain anything, Harry said, "I'm sorry, but I still don't really know who you are."

"It's understandable for Harry to ask questions about who we are," Minerva stated softly upon seeing the incredulous looks on everyone's faces. "After all, it's always the same with first years Muggle-borns who are about to enter the Magical World."

The giant took a gulp of tea and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. "Call me Hagrid, everyone does And like I told you, I'm Keeper of Keys at Hogwarts – you'll know all about Hogwarts, of course."

The incredulous looks changed into nervous ones as everyone knew Hagrid loved Hogwarts with all his heart and to hear someone who doesn't even know about the school…

"Er – no," Harry said.

Hagrid looked shocked.

"Sorry," Harry said quickly.

"Harry shouldn't be apologizing," Lily stated softly before her voice changed into a dark cold tone when she said her next sentence. "It's those blasted Dursleys who should be apologizing."

"Sorry?" Hagrid barked, turning to stare at the Dursleys, who shrank back into the shadows. 'It's them as should be sorry! I knew you weren't getting your letters, but I never thought you wouldn't even know about Hogwarts, for crying out loud! Did you never wonder where your parents learned it all?"

"All what?" Harry asked.

"Oh, boy," Sirius gulped after hearing Harry's question. "This is not going to be good."

"ALL WHAT?" Hagrid thundered. "Now wait just one second!" He had leapt to his feet. In his anger, he seemed to fill the whole hut.

"Called it," Sirius said, wincing at the description of how angry Hagrid is. Everyone else, except Hagrid, who looked mad, winced as well.

The Dursleys were cowering against the wall.

'As they should be,' Hagrid thought a bit sadistically, a feral smirk appearing on his face, which is hidden behind his bushy beard.

"Do you mean to tell me," Hagrid growled at the Dursleys. "That this boy – this boy! – knows nothing about – about ANYTHING?"

Harry thought this was going a bit far. He had been to school, after all, and his marks weren't bad. "I know some things. I can, you know, do math and stuff."

"But Hagrid meant-" Peter started to say, only to be quickly interrupted by Andromeda.

"We know what he's talking about, Peter," Andromeda said, already knowing what Peter was about to say. "It's just Harry still doesn't know what Hogwarts is, despite learning the name. I have a feeling Hagrid is about to tell him in a moment."

But Hagrid simply waved his hand and said, "About our world, I mean. Your world. My world. Your parent's world."

"What world?"

Hagrid looked as if he was about to explode.

Hagrid himself looked on the verge of exploding as well, but he deflated quickly after seeing the stern warning look on Dumbledore's face.

"DURSLEY!" Hagrid boomed.

Uncle Vernon, who had gone very pale, whispered something that sounded like "Mimblewimble."

Hagrid stared wildly at Harry. "But you must know about your mom and dad. I mean, they're famous. You're famous."

James wanted to say that if the situation wasn't serious, he would've found it amusing and funny, but seeing no one was in the mood right now, he decided to stay silent.

"What? My – my mom and dad weren't famous, were they?"

"You don't know…you don't know…" Hagrid ran his fingers through his fair, fixing Harry with a bewildered stare. "You don't know what you are?"

"Ooh, here comes the big reveal of what Harry is!" Nymphadora exclaimed loudly and excitedly after reading that sentence. She was earned with anticipated looks from everyone else, though some couldn't help but looked worried. If Hagrid is going to tell Harry about what he is…what will his reaction be?

Happiness?

Disbelief?

Conflicted?

Worried?

Plain denial?

…Apathy?

The worried people in the Room of Requirement hoped Harry's reaction will be a positive one.

Uncle Vernon suddenly found his voice. "Stop! Stop right there, sir! I forbid you to tell the boy anything!"

A braver man than Vernon Dursley would have quailed under the furious look Hagrid now gave him; when Hagrid spoke, his every syllable trembled with rage. "You never told him? Never told him what was in the letter Dumbledore left for him? I was there! I saw Dumbledore leave it, Dursley! And you've kept it from him all these years?"

"Kept what from me?" Harry asked eagerly.

"STOP! I FORBID YOU!" Uncle Vernon yelled in panic.

Aunt Petunia gave a gasp of horror.

"Ah, go boil your heads, both of you," Hagrid said. "Harry – you're a wizard."

And done! That's the ending of the chapter! I would've kept going but I decided to get a chapter posted up and running in this story; it's been five months since I have last posted a chapter for this story, and I only got this chapter done just now, so here is a new chapter.

I am very, very sorry for the lack of chapter updates in this story; I did not give up on it nor did I discontinue it, I just haven't been focusing on the story. I have pretty much neglected the story and only focused on my other stories. Again, I am very, very sorry about that.

I'll probably get to work on writing the next chapter tomorrow or the next day after because I need a bit of time to relax. If I try writing the next chapter now, then there's a chance I might become stressed out. I don't want that to happen, and I don't want to put another story on hiatus.

Anyways, here is a new chapter for this story and I hope it makes up for the long wait.

Write a review if you like this story and enjoy the chapter.
