"Vindicate me, O God, and defend my cause against an ungodly people, from the deceitful and unjust man deliver me!"
Psalm 43:1
After splitting up from his brothers, Mikey skated across a couple of rooftops, making sure to keep an eye out for—
"Found it!" he cheered, flipping up his skateboard into one hand and leaping down into the alleyway below.
Mikey moved his skateboard to his right arm. Then crouched down and started to reach for the glowing canister.
A clattering noise further down the alley made him stop and snap his head up. He couldn't see anything. Nevertheless, he kept his gaze on the nearby shadows as his fingers grazed the canister…
OoOoOoO
"Found it, dudes!"
The oldest three Turtles, who had all regrouped after a fruitless search, all turned in time to see Mikey landed on the rooftop. His skateboard was tucked under his left arm, while his right hand held the mutagen canister they came here for.
"Great job, Mikey," Leo smiled, while Donnie took the glowing object from the youngest.
OoOoOoO
Leo decided they should all head back to the lair.
However, on the way, the eldest turtle couldn't shake the feeling that something was…off. He couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was. But the feeling weighed heavily in his gut, even after they all jumped over the turnstiles.
Donnie took the canister to his lab, while Raph went over to the arcade machine, and Mikey settled on the couch and flicked on the TV. Leo sat next to Mikey, deciding the enjoy whatever was playing.
But that feeling didn't even dwindle as the minutes ticked by.
Leo eventually tore his gaze away from the screen, and turned to look at Mikey. His mind immediately knew that something was wrong.
The youngest was sitting still. Normally he'd swing his legs or at least drum his fingers against the couch. But he was sitting perfectly still.
And…his baby-blue eyes were a bit glazed over, as if he were lost in thought as he stared at the TV. It wasn't unusual for Mikey's mind to wander…but something about the look in his brother's eyes felt…unnatural.
"Mikey?" Leo said, snapping the youngest out of his thoughts.
"Hmm?" he turned to him, a sunny smile on his face. "Yeah, Leo?"
"Is…everything okay?" Leo wasn't sure what else he should ask.
"Oh, yeah," Mikey said casually, still smiling. "Why wouldn't it be?"
Leo hesitated for a moment, then could only answer with, "I…I don't know."
Why won't that nagging feeling just go away?
"Leo?" the eldest turned to Mikey. "Are you feeling okay?"
"Y-Yeah," Leo lied, hoping he sounded convincing.
But it seems that Mikey didn't buy it. At least, not entirely. The youngest hummed, then asked, "Maybe you're feeling tired?"
Leo paused for a moment, then sighed quietly. "Maybe…" he said, then stood up, smiling at his youngest brother. "I think I'll turn in early tonight."
He turned and walked towards the bedrooms, hearing Mikey call, "Night, Leo!"
But that feeling still didn't dissipate as he entered his bedroom and shut the door behind him.
Why did it feel like…like something terrible was about to happen?
OoOoOoO
Hours later, the lair was dark and everyone was asleep.
Well, everyone except a certain freckled turtle.
Mikey stood in his room, experimentally swinging one of his nunchucks. "Fascinating," he said calmly, watching half of the weapon spin around in amusement.
He eventually stopped spinning it, and tossed it carelessly onto the bed. Then, he looked down at his right hand, holding it with his left and scanning it with interest.
"It's certainly interesting," he said, an amused smile on his face. "Being a turtle."
Then he turned to the small, round mirror in the room.
And instead of green skin, blue eyes, freckles, and an orange mask looking back at him…it was the image of a pale-skinned Japanese woman with long black hair, wearing a purple and red kimono, and had a white and red kabuki fox mask over her face.
"Too bad I wasn't born that way," he said dryly, smile disappearing. But instead of Mikey's voice, a deep, mature, feminine voice poured from his lips.
He reached into his belt and pulled out a small, circular device with a screen. He activated it and brought it close to his face. "Falco!" he snapped, still speaking in that foreign voice, while making sure to be quiet enough to not wake anyone up.
The screen flickered a bit, before a familiar face appeared. A pale face that resembled a corpse, with messy black hair, and glowing red eyes.
Immediately, the Rat King cringed at the sight. "Couldn't have chosen a better disguise, Kitsune?" he complained.
Mikey-Kitsune rolled his/her eyes. "Drop it, Falco," she growled dangerously. "You do your thing with the rat." A smirk formed on her face. "I'll take care of Leonardo."
The screen turned black, and Kitsune stored the device back in her belt. Then, the smirk still on her face, she turned off the light and silently exited Mikey's room.
Soon, the whole lair would be awaken by the sounds of Splinter struggling against Falco's control.
But before that, she had a blue-masked turtle to bend to her will.
This was inspired by the movie "Barbie Fairytopia: Magic of the Rainbow", when Laverna replaces Sunburst.
I didn't have much planned for this when I started typing...but now I'm thinking about a whole fic where Rat King teams up with Kitsune, and using a brainwashed Leo in order to stop the Turtles (kinda like what she did in the "City Fall" arc of the IDW comics) and let Rat King take over the city, leaving only Raph, Donnie, and April to stop them (still debating whether it should take place before or after they meet Casey).
