Trigger Warning: Talk about attempted suicide; Talk about bullying that borders assault

Chapter 3

Izuku feels something snap to tension around him and he is violently yanked up while someone grunts in effort above him. Then Izuku opens his eyes and the world spins. "Oh God, oh God! What the hell did I just do," mutters Izuku. He feels himself being dragged up bit by bit. He grabs the fabric that's wrapped around him and starts climbing. He reaches the edge of the roof and drags himself onto it. Then he hears whoever saved him collapse onto the roof gasping for breath. Izuku does the same and they stay there for who knows how long just trying to catch their breath.

Eventually Izuku's savior gets to his feet, stumbling on the way, and walks over to Izuku. The hero, maybe, asks Izuku, "You ok, kid?" Izuku responds with an exhausted thumbs up and tries to get to his feet. He gets about halfway and then falls forward but the hero catches him. The hero puts his arms under Izuku's and hoists him to his feet.

"You sure about that," the hero asks.

"Yeah, just a little light-headed," answers Izuku. Then Izuku asks, "Anyway, what's your name?"

The hero chuckles and says, "That's what you want to know? It's Eraserhead, what's yours?"

"Midoriya, Midoriya Izuku."

"Ok. Why don't we get you home?" And that is what finally causes the shock to wear off and Izuku breaks down into tears.

Aizawa was thanking whatever gods existed that he was there in time. When his scarf reached the kid just in time he let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding. Then when the kid started dragging himself up Aizawa was relieved. The kid didn't want to die anymore. So when the kid got on the roof Aizawa was happy that he was able to collapse without a worry (about the kid jumping again).

After a bit of rest Aizawa stands up, hobbles over to the kid and asks him, "You ok, kid." The kid lazily puts a thumbs up in the air. Then the kid forces himself to his feet and falls forward. Aizawa catches him and helps the kid stand and then Aizawa asks, "You sure about that?"

The kid answers, "Yeah, just a little light-headed," and the asks, "Anyway, what's your name?"

Aizawa chuckles and responds, "That's what you want to know," and chuckles again. "It's Eraserhead, what's yours?"

"Midoriya, Midoriya Izuku."

"Ok. Why don't we get you home?" And then the floodgates fall. Izuku collapses into Aizawa, sobbing. Aizawa wraps his arms around Izuku and pulls him into a hug.

Inko startles awake and looks at the bedside clock, which reads 4:00am. She gets out of bed and heads to the kitchen. She gets a glass from the cabinet and fills it with water. She stays there for a bit just drinking and then heads off back to her room. As she walks through the hallway she sees that Izuku's door is slightly ajar. She opens it and sees... no one. She gasps and flicks the light on. Blinking rapidly to clear the dots from her vision she notices something on the desk she walks over and sees,

"Hello Mom, Dad

By the time you're reading this I've most likely already jumped."

Inko gasps, hurriedly looks around the room and then continues reading.

"Now you're probably wondering, 'Why? He's always seemed happy and carefree.' Well I've never been happy or carefree. I've been tortured, sad and depressed. And the blame falls on the shoulders of Kacchan Bakugo. You know all those times I've fallen and lost scales, that was him. Every time you've been called to the school because I've been fighting, that was him. And not only that, every single day I've come home in burns, bruises and any other blemishes, again all from him. Then on top of all of that he told me, earlier today, to, 'Take a swan dive off of a roof and hope for a better quirk in the next life.' And he's never been punished because everyone hates him. I'm the weak, useless Deku."

Inko starts to sob as she reads and notices that the paper gets more and more covered in tears as it goes on. And she continues to read.

"But that wasn't the last straw. No, that honor belongs to All Might. Earlier today I lied to you about why I was late. I didn't take the long way home, I was attacked by a villain. And I thought I was going to die then. But I didn't, I was saved by All Might and before he left I asked him a question, 'Can a person with a weak quirk be a hero?' He said no. The man who exclaims that anyone can be a hero said I couldn't That I should be a police officer or a doctor. And that was the final straw. My idol telling me my dream was unrealistic."

Inko, through her tears, notices that the handwriting becomes jagged, uneven and angry. Then she continues.

"But my life hasn't been all bad. Mom and Dad, thank you for raising me. Thank you for being there for me. And goodbye, I love you both.

Your son

Midoriya Izuku"

And after the last line Inko collapses, sobbing.

Who knows how long after Izuku collapses into Aizawa's chest, Izuku lifts his head and asks, "Can you take me home now?"

Aizawa nods and replies, "Yeah, kid. Yeah." Then he looks around the roof and notices that the stairwell is locked. "How did you get up here," he asks.

"The fire escape, how else. How did you get up here," asks Izuku with the lift of an eyebrow.

"Touche, kid. Touche."

They walk over to the fire escape and climb their way down.

An hour later

Inko jerked awake at the sound of the doorbell. She rushed out of Izuku's room and saw that Hisashi was already heading towards the living room. They reached the front door and opened it to the sight of Izuku and Aizawa.

Inko rushed forward and wrapped Izuku up in a hug. Hisashi, confused, asked, "What's going on?"

Aizawa motioned Hisashi towards the couch and coffee table and said, "Why don't we sit down and explain what's happened tonight."

Inko, reluctantly, lets go of Izuku and sits down next to her husband. Aizawa sits on the other side of the coffee table, in and armchair while Izuku sits next to his mom.

Before Aizawa is even able to open his mouth to speak, Inko puts down the piece of paper that she was holding, looks over to Izuku and asks, "What is this?"

Izuku gasps and sinks in on himself while he mumbles, "I was hoping that you hadn't seen it yet. It's my-"

Hisashi, fed up with not knowing what's happening, interrupts Izuku and says, "Can anyone tell me what the hell is going on?"

Aizawa sighs and says, "An hour or so ago, I saved your son from falling off of a building."

Hisashi, not quite believing what he's hearing asks, "Was it a villain attack or an accident?"

"I'm sorry, sir. It was... it was an attempted suicide." Hisashi, having the worst confirmed pulls Izuku into a tight hug while crying and mumbling. Izuku's eyes start tearing up and he hugs his dad mumbling, "It's ok. I'm sorry," to him. Inko wraps the both of them in a hug and the family stays like that for a while. Aizawa leaves them alone, knowing that they need their time.

After Aizawa tells Izuku's parents about finding Izuku on the roof, they finally address the elephant in the room.

Aizawa asks, "Did Izuku leave... did he leave a note?" Inko picks up the paper she had left on the coffee table and gives it to Aizawa. He reads it over and when done says, "We're going to have to do something about this." Inko nods and Aizawa hands the note over to Hisashi.

Inko, after Hisashi had read the note, asks, "What should we do about the school?"

Aizawa responds, "I'll make a couple copies of the note and you can give one to the police. Leave the prosecuting up to them. Otherwise pull Izuku out of school. I recommend enrolling him into an online school."

Inko nods and asks, "What about Katsuki and... and All Might?"

"Do you know Katsuki's parents," asks Aizawa. Inko nods and he continues, "Give a copy to them and let them deal with their child. Besides that keep Izuku away from Katsuki. I'll talk with my boss and deal with All Might that way. If you want to prosecute anyone call me and I'll help." Aizawa then hands over a business card with his hero name and agency's number.

Then it seems that Aizawa remembers something he forgot. He looks over to Izuku and ask, "Do you still wanna be a hero, kid?"

Izuku, surprised, takes a minute to realize what Aizawa asked and blurts out, "Yes!" Izuku then reigned in his surprise and said, "I do, sir."

Aizawa nods and says, "Then I'll train you."

Izuku then surges over to Aizawa and wraps him in a hug. Aizawa awkwardly pats Izuku on the back.

Days Later

It's early morning and Hisashi is sitting at the dining table with a cup of coffee reading the newspaper. The headline on the front page reads,

"School Faces Lawsuit for Quirk-Discrimination and Neglect

Aldera Junior High faces multiple charges of Quirk-Discrimination and Child Neglect after a student reported the occurrences. The student, who wished to stay anonymous, said that they don't feel safe at the school and, 'That the teachers don't keep me safe."

Hisashi puts the paper down and looks over to his wife, who was making breakfast, and he says, "We have to visit Mitsuki and Masaru today." Inko gravely nods at him and says, "At least Izuku will be busy with school work while we're gone."

Two days ago Inko and Hisashi, with the help of Aizawa, had enrolled Izuku in the leading online school in Japan. Izuku had excelled at it and enjoyed the challenge that the self-paced classes were.

"His first training session with Eraserhead is today too," responds Hisashi. Inko then goes back to making breakfast for the family.

Izuku wakes up to the sound of his mom calling him to breakfast. He gets up and walks to the kitchen he sees his dad sitting at the table and his mom bringing the food to the table. His dad says, "Good morning, my little one."

Izuku's face reddens at the embarrassing nickname and says, "Dad, that nickname should've stopped when I was five... And good morning to you too." He looks over to his mom and says, "Good morning, mom."

She smile at him and says, "Good morning, Izuku." She sets the plates down at the table and says, "Eat up you two, we have a long day ahead of us." Hisashi puts down his newspaper, takes a sip of his coffee and begins to eat. Izuku does the same.

After the family finishes breakfast, Izuku heads off to his room to start school and the adults get ready for the dreadful meeting. They had put it off as long as they could but with the news article out they had to meet and discuss another problem: Bakugo Katsuki.

The drive over to the Bakugo household was filled with silence. When the cheery Mitsuki opened the door to greet them and saw their crestfallen faces she knew something was wrong. She ushered them into the house and they all sat around the coffee table.

Inko started the conversation with a, "We need to talk."

Mitsuki nodded and said, "I know. But what do we need to talk about?"

"About this," responded Inko as she set down a piece of paper on the table. Mitsuki grabbed it and began to read. The more she read the more her face fell and once she finished she set the piece of paper down with barely reined in sadness and anger.

She looked over to Katsuki and said, "Read it."

Katsuki, surprised, responded with, "Why, you old hag?"

All Mitsuki said was, "Read it."

Katsuki, surprised that his mother didn't bite back with an insult and did as he was told. Before he even reached the halfway point he was shaking in pure, raw emotion. And once he reached the bottom half of it he gasped and mumbled, "But.. But.. All Might wouldn't do that," to himself. He finished the note and set it down with a blank look in his eye, staring at nothing but everything.

Inko grabbed the note and said, "And now you know. We have a couple things to say and then we'll be out of your hair." Mitsuki just nodded and Hisashi continued on where his wife left off, "We've already dealt with the school and... All Might is being dealt with as we speak. Otherwise the only thing we're going to be doing with Katsuki is keep Izuku away from him. The rest is up to you."

Hisashi and Inko got up and headed out of the Bakugo's home leaving a sullen Mitsuki and a confused Bakugo behind.

Izuku's parents had return sometime after lunch and had left him alone. But that did nothing to dampen his spirits. He was basically vibrating with excitement. He was meeting with Eraserhead for the first time. He was going to be a hero.

So nothing could worsen Izuku's mood except Izuku himself. So as the day wore on Izuku was getting more and more ancious.

So when his sschool day was finally over and Izuku was getting ready, he was a ball of nerves. His parents, the great people they are, noticed and did their best to comfort him. Right as he was about to leave for the address Eraserhead had given his parents, his dad grabbed him by the shoulder and kneeled down to look him in the eye. Hisashi then said, "You got this, my little one."

Izuku hugs his dad and says, "Thank you." Hisashi smiles down at him and they head off.

An Hour Later

The father and son pulled up to the warehouse they were told to meet Eraserhead at. The hero was standing outside, but not in his hero costume. He wore black sweatpaints, sweater and his grey capture scarf.

Hisashi and Izuku got out of the care and walked over to Eraserhead. Eraserhead waves them over and as they walk inside says, "I just remebered that I forgot to give my name," the he holds his hand out for Hisashi to shake and says, "I'm Aizawa. Nice to meet you."

Hisahsi responds with a polite greeting and they continue on their way. Aizawa then continues on, "Now your son doesn't have the best quirk for hero work... don't get me wrong he has a great quirk and can definitely be a hero but he's going to need some additional help. I'm going to teach him some martial arts and maybe even how to use a couple weapons," finishes Aizawa right as they walk into a grand training room with a wall of weapons on one side and a wall of mirrors on the other. The floor is lined in soft mats and they Aizawa nad Izuku take of their shoes to begin. Hisashi says goodbye to his son and heads out to wait in the car.

"Now before I teach you any martial arts or how to use a weapon we have to do a couple things," Aizawa says. "Today we're going to see whatshape you're in and set a meal plan." Aizawa then motions over to the weapon wall and says, "But first you're going to pick a weapon that speaks to you."

Izuku asks, "What does that mean."

"It's a feeling you'll get when you see the right weapon for you. It just clicks."

Izuku nods and begins walking up and down the wall. He reaches for a couple of them but nothing seems quite right. Until he comes across a spool of rope hanging up on a peg. Izuku grabs it and feels a weight at the end of the rope. He picks up the metal dart that hangs there and looks over to Aizawa and says, "This is the one."

All Aizawa does is hum in affirmation.

Thank you for reading through this. All feedback and comments are appreciated. Now onto some questions I have for you guys.

And if anyone guesses correctly what weapon Izuku chose will get a shout out in the next chapter.

So I had a real long absence in between Chapter 1 and Chapter 2, sorry about that. Life did not agree with me writing and I lost all motivation. But I'm back and ready to write. I'm going to try to update every other Wednesday but if something comes up chapters may be a little late.

1. Now the fic is currently listed as Izuku/Shinso but I would also be willing to do Izuku/Kyoka. Now Izuku is going to be friends with both(and no I'm not doing a multi pairing) but do you guys have a preference for one over the other.

2. I have most of Izuku's hero costume planned out but I don't have a hero name. Any help would be appreciated.

3. I had the idea of Izuku playing an instrument in his down time(SPOILERS: This will be how he meets Kyoka) but I don't know what to have him play. Any ideas?

4. And lastly, I read another fic where Izuku go a tattoo after failing to commit suicide and was thinking about giving Izuku one here. I have it all planned out but opinions would be appreciated

Again thank you guys so much for reading this and commenting if you do.

Sincerely,

Your humble author
