Author's Note:

It has come to my attention that this slow-burn romance may be too slow-paced and have too many subplots for some readers.

I had planned for the subplots to tie together at a later time, and the pace was about to pick up. I'm sorry my writing skills aren't up to par.

I was setting up a love triangle between Layla, Jacob (a wolf shapeshifter), and Rowan (a real werewolf, Iris's cousin).

Before introducing Rowan, I wanted to establish a solid foundation for Layla and Jacob's relationship. (Yes, with Jacob and Layla obviously ending up together.)

I was going to have Rowan move in with his extended family, i.e., Iris, because vampires killed his parents/guardian.

Layla's brother, Zach, was sent to a 'school' abroad because his 'misbehavior' was actually him becoming a werewolf.

Rowan and Zack were friends at this 'school,' aka 'werewolf colony,' to survive and hone their werewolf skills the first year of their turning.

Layla's mother, Lily, is missing because she's a rare form of werewolf (a silver) who has refused to turn into her wolf form for years. The time not spent as a wolf accumulated and forced her into wolf form for the moons she had missed the transformation.

Layla is going to become aware of the Seattle vampires preying on her first and wants to protect those she cares about from Niccolo's compulsions.

(Niccolo could very much tell someone to kill their own imprint, and they would have to comply. Or maybe he would tell someone to shift into wolf form forever as punishment for interferingwith his singer. He could also benefit greatly by compelling the Cullens to join his ambitions against the voltori.)

EJ, wanting to protect Layla from the La Push shapeshifting wolves, is going to share all of Bella's memories about Jacob with Layla.

This causes Layla much pain and for her to rely on Rowan for help. (Insert fake dating trope between them.)

Also, Rowan is her introduction to werewolves before she knows Jacob could actually help and/or not be easily killed by vampires.

Being a werewolf, Rowan has a few extra tricks up his sleeve when it comes to fighting vampires. For example, not having to transform to take them on would be helpful in the city of Seattle.

Silver eyes are an indication of the superior genetic quirk amongst werewolves. Layla has one silver eye and is the daughter of a silver werewolf, making her optimal mating material amongst wolves.

(Rowan has silver eyes, just like Lily. Zach is not a silver despite his lineage.)

Rowan's intentions towards Layla were shady and not genuine at first.

Zach stole Rowan's girlfriend at the werewolf colony, and he wants to get back at him by potentially using Layla but ends up liking her too much to follow through.

If this is something you all would enjoy, please continue reading.

I hope your patience through my process is worth it. If not, please don't deter people who could potentially enjoy this story. Thank youPS I might move this PSA to Chapter 1 to avoid wasting anyone's time.
