-Presumption of innocence-
Chapter 3. Tears
"Yami, I was looking for you everywhere," Charlotte said, her words slurred due to her being out of breath. She looked agitated and for Charlotte that was quite rare.
Yami stopped and turned around to head towards where she was. Her eyes shined with worry and sadness, her general demeanor just wasn't the best at the moment. It had been a very long time since he remembered seeing her like this.
"What's wrong?"
"Hana's sick. She has a high fever and I can't wake her up. It looks like she's hurting somewhere, it's showing all over her face."
"For how long?"
"I don't know. When I went to wake her up, she was already like that. I don't know what to do. I'm so nervous and..."
"Charlotte," he uttered her name, interrupting her, so he could talk to her and try to calm her down. He placed his hands on her arms and gave her a light sympathetic squeeze, "Calm down".
"I can't. What if this is because of my curse? Hana never gets sick."
Yami frowned. When they learned that they would be having girls, Charlotte had developed an intrinsic fear, one which was born from the depths of her soul, and that he knew had caused her many sleepless nights: that her curse would affect Hikari or Hana directly. But nothing wrong had ever happened to them. Generally, their children didn't get sick very often, so while it was a bit suspicious, they shouldn't jump to conclusions.
"Listen, I'm gonna go in to see her and then I'm gonna take her to go see Owen, okay?"
"But she's not in a position for us to take her to the Capital. She won't wake up, Yami, don't you listen to me when I'm talking to you?"
He decided to let it go. He understood that she was speaking to him this way because of how terrified she was and honestly he didn't know how to reassure her, so he decided to treat her as he normally did. Maybe that way he would be able to help her.
"Okay. I'll bring Owen here to see her then. Let's go."
He walked towards Hana's room and Charlotte followed behind him. Upon entering, he observed the girl's pained expression. Her blond bangs were wet with sweat, and she looked like she was in terrible agony.
He went over to the bed and sat down in the small dip in the mattress. He grabbed her hand and called her name softly, but Hana didn't answer. She only frowned every time she heard a voice in the distance, as if it were a call for help so that someone would be able to alleviate her pain.
He stroked her cheek slowly and her expression softened a little, but he could tell she still wasn't better, so he decided to go get Owen as quickly as possible.
"I'm gonna tell Finral to take me to the Capital so we'll get there and back sooner. Don't worry. Everything's gonna be fine."
Charlotte hugged Yami and then sat next to Hana and held her hand. If it was her curse that was directly affecting Hana, she would never forgive herself, although it wasn't her fault. But the Captain of the Blue Roses had always been like that; She always tended to overthink things and blame herself for events that were beyond her control.
For his part, Yami sought out Finral, explained the situation, and the Spatial mage immediately took him to the Magic Knight Hospital. Once there, he told Owen about his daughter's condition and Charlotte's background, which he suspected might be interfering with her health.
Faster than Charlotte had expected, the doctor found himself in the little girl's room, so she got out of bed and moved away a little in order to let him examine her comfortably.
Owen applied a remedy that made Hana's fever go down, but she still didn't wake up.
"At least the fever has gone down..."
"Owen, could this be related to my curse?"
"I can't be too sure, Charlotte, but I don't think we should rule it out either. It's a matter of waiting and seeing. I'm going to draw some blood and take it back to the lab so I can analyze it, and see if I can make a better treatment or find out the cause of Hana's illness. Anyway, just keep an eye on her and if her condition changes, let me know. No matter what time it is, okay?"
"Okay. Thank you Owen," Charlotte said sincerely.
The doctor left and Yami went to see Einar, who was in the dining room, probably wondering what all the commotion was about, but he also didn't want to go and disturb them. So he simply waited for one of his parents or sisters to come out and tell him.
"Brat, come here, I've gotta tell you something."
Einar approached his father after hearing him call for him. He raised his head slightly, hoping that his father would ruffle his hair a little with his usual roughness which Yami did while smiling at Einar.
"What's wrong, Papa?"
"Einar, Hana's sick."
The boy's face changed completely. To him his sisters were two strong, admirable, and unwavering girls, so it didn't make sense that something like this could happen to one of them.
"But, but..."
"Don't worry. Mama is taking care of her and the doctor's just been here to check on her." Yami bent down so could be on his level and continue talking to him. "And she's already getting better. So I'm gonna ask you for a big favor, okay?"
"Okay, Papa!" He agreed, nodding his head vigorously.
"Hikari's on a mission right now that'll last at least a week, mom is taking care of Hana, and I have a lot of stuff to do today. Ayla and Aren are coming over in a little while to visit. Will you behave yourself and play with them?"
"Does that mean with Ayla too? But she shouts a lot," Einar complained in a tired voice.
"She acts just like a certain someone I know... But you're older, so you have to promise me that you're going to listen to me and behave."
"Okay, Papa. At least, Aren and I can play Magic Knights, so it'll still be fun."
"Right," Yami said as he stood up.
"Papa," he whispered before his father left, "Can I go see Hana after I play with Aren?"
"You can see her when mama comes to get you, okay?"
Einar nodded and Yami quickly left to go settle his affairs in the Capital so he could get back as quickly as possible. The shadow that loomed over them at the thought of Charlotte's curse having affected Hana was very tall and dark, so much so that it also had Yami feeling restless and scared, but he had to keep his composure so that there would be no panic among the family.
Finally, the boring and hassle-filled meetings that had kept him away from the Hideout until nightfall ended, and he assumed Hana hadn't gotten any worse because before he left he had given Charlotte a magical communication device in case something happened and so far he hadn't heard anything. And with that silence, he felt slightly relieved.
When he arrived back at the Hideout, the first thing he did was go to his daughter's room. He opened the door and realized that Charlotte was still there, this time, lying next to Hana.
"I'm going to sleep with her tonight," she explained before Yami could say anything.
"Alright. How is she?"
"I think she's better. She still has a fever, but at least she woke up this afternoon, drank some water and talked. Einar even came to see her."
"Should I tell Hikari to come back?"
"No. It's her first week-long mission and she was very excited about it. But if things get worse, we'll call her."
"Okay. And the brat?"
"He's already sleeping, so don't worry."
Yami walked over to the bed, bent down slightly, and gave Charlotte a kiss on the forehead and gave another kiss to Hana.
"Get some sleep. Tomorrow when I wake up I'll come down and see how she's doing."
Charlotte nodded and Yami went to their room, but he couldn't fall asleep, so he started smoking to try to calm his restlessness, which had already diminished considerably, but he still had a knot that continued to press against his throat.
It suddenly started raining and soon it became dawn, causing the rain to turn from a light shower into a heavy storm. Yami still couldn't sleep, so he went out into the hall. He looked over and noticed a half-open window, one that overlooked the front door and through which a lot of water was seeping through and into the Hideout, and he walked over to close it.
However, when he was about to do so, he saw a shadow in the forest creeping closer. The shadow came out of the forest, at such a slow pace that it looked to be dragging itself, and it stood still in front of Hideout's door, as though it were unable to even knock.
He focused on their ki and immediately realized who it was, for Yami had burned it into his memory for the last sixteen years. She was trembling, weak, frightened and barely conscious, so he ran to the door of the base, opened it and there, under the heavy rain, he saw his eldest daughter looking at him with terror in her blue eyes and she was almost unable to stand.
She panted insistently and was completely covered in blood. His hair was ruffled, her left leg cut, her clothes torn, and she wasn't even wearing her shoes. She tried to speak, but the first thing that came out of her mouth was a large amount of blood, which further stained her Black Bulls robe and the ground beneath her. It was more than likely that she had several internal injuries.
"Dad," She managed to say, as best she could, as she spat out more blood and her legs trembled, "H-help me..."
"Okay, let go."
"Are you sure? Don't you think she's still too small?"
Yami, who was holding his one-year-old daughter so she wouldn't fall, looked up at Charlotte. He never would have imagined that she would be so scared with babies, but he assumed that the reason she was so scared was because Hikari was their daughter.
He smiled and winked knowingly. Hikari was already able to stand on her own, so it was time for her to take her first steps unaided, albeit with supervision. He bent down and grabbed Hikari, before telling Charlotte to get right in front of her, but to stand a few steps away. Although somewhat hesitant, she relented and did.
"Come on, brat, go to mom."
Yami let go of the girl and she staggered a little, but afterwards she was able to stand up without falling. She took some hesitant, unsteady steps, but finally managed to get to where Charlotte was standing almost without problem.
She lifted her daughter into her arms and kissed her cheek as she watched Yami approach them.
"See? We have to let her learn. She's very brave, so I'm sure she'll do great things in the future."
"Yes, you're right," she said, smiling and looking at the little girl, "You have done very well, Hikari".
The girl laughed energetically and then threw herself onto her mother's collarbone while she stroked her hair, a gesture she had done for months and would never abandon.
He didn't know why, but as he flew on top of his broom at full speed toward the Capital and while carrying Hikari on his back, that memory from the past crossed his mind.
He had never wanted to be the kind of father who opposed everything, so as soon as Hikari turned fifteen, she received her grimoire and according to the rules of the Clover Kingdom, she had been accepted into the Black Bulls.
That mission she went out on was supposed to be her first long mission, but he didn't understand why she had come back in this condition. It was a mission filled with rookies from other squads and with two older squad leaders to supervise them which was normally, quite simple. In addition to that, she had also returned alone, so the first thought in Yami's head was that she had gotten lost and had been attacked.
However, that didn't make sense. Hikari wasn't skittish at all and he himself had taught her how to read a person's Ki and to always be alert. If she had been left alone, she would have been able to defend herself at least and wouldn't have ended up so injured. There were only two possibilities: either her attacker was infinitely superior in combat strength and mana or one of her companions had betrayed her and attacked her from behind.
Without a doubt, Yami would find out sooner or later. He concentrated on speeding up and cursed himself internally for not having kicked Finral awake so he could get Hikari there faster. But, when he saw his daughter in such a state and begging him to help her, he didn't think; he just acted. His muscles moved on their own, eager to get her to the hospital as soon as possible so Owen could heal her, and he didn't weigh the other options he had.
Grey might have even been able to heal her, but something told him that this attack had a specific reason to it that he needed to discover without anyone getting in his way.
Reporting Hikari's status to Grey or Finral would mean that Charlotte would find out and worry even more, so he concluded that it had not been such a bad idea to not alert them to what happened. Charlotte already had enough worries with Hana and her sudden illness, so he would take care of this matter himself.
At last, he finally made it to the door of the hospital. He got off his broom and held Hikari in his arms as best he could, no matter that his clothes were stained with blood. She was unconscious, but her ki, although weak, could still be felt. She was still alive and that was all that really mattered. He had to save her. There was no other way; either he saved her or he could no longer live, his imagination wouldn't leave him alone and right now he couldn't go back to Charlotte or their children normally. Not until Hikari was alright.
"Owen!" He shouted in the middle of the corridor after kicking down the infirmary door.
Luckily, Owen was on duty that night and left immediately, believing that Hana's situation had worsened when he heard the great noise coming from the entrance and found it was Yami's voice that was breaking the silence of the night.
What he couldn't have imagined was that he would see him there, in the hallway, completely soaked and with his eldest daughter in his arms, visibly wounded and bloodied. He ran to where they both were.
"What happened?" He asked in alarm.
"I don't know, but I don't think now is the best time for asking questions. Where do I take her?"
"Yes, you're right," he admitted before setting off and being quickly followed by Yami. "Leave her on the stretcher over there and I'll heal her right away," he added when they reached the first treatment room they came upon.
Yami watched Owen close the door and decided to stay in the hallway to wait. He focused on feeling Hikari's ki again. She was still alive. He leaned against the wall, feeling a horrible and strange mixture of relief and uneasiness inside. He rubbed his face hard with his hand and then decided he would smoke a cigarette while he waited.
As the hours passed with him waiting for Owen to come out, he again began to thoroughly analyze the possible causes of Hikari's attack. He came to no conclusion, of course, but he swore to himself that he would find out the truth and that he would personally take care of destroying the person who had dared to hurt his daughter in this way.
The clock in the hall told Yami that it was half past four in the morning. If he wasn't mistaken, they had arrived at the hospital around one o'clock in the morning and now he was still waiting for an update. He was being tortured by the slow passage of time. It was as if the hands of the clock couldn't move at their normal pace. At least, Hikari's ki was more stabilized now, although it was still somewhat weak.
After fifteen more minutes, Owen walked out of the room to report Hikari's condition to her father. He looked at him seriously, because he knew that he was going to have a hard time describing all the injuries that the girl had on her body, but doing so was his obligation as a professional and as a friend of Yami.
"How is she?"
"I managed to stabilize her and for the most part she's out of the woods. Right now she's resting, but everything indicates that she'll wake up tomorrow. Do you want... me to explain all the injuries she had?"
"Yes," Yami uttered without even hesitation.
Owen sighed, trying to sort out his thoughts to properly word his speech, and finally he began to speak.
"I don't know who or what did this to her, but the number of injuries and their severity are very surprising. They were clearly cruel to her. She had bruises on her face, abdomen and back. Her left leg had shattered bones and torn muscles. Her lip was split open, some of her fingernails had been pulled out, and even her clothes were torn and her shoes were removed. She must have been barefoot for a while, because she had serious blisters on the soles of her feet. Surely, she got them while walking to your Hideout. And that's not even mentioning her internal injuries. She had two damaged organs. If it had taken ten more minutes to arrive, Hikari wouldn't have survived."
"Anything else?"
Owen looked at Yami's dark eyes. They seemed empty and far removed from the reaction he had expected from him. He knew what he meant, so he answered him quickly.
"She had no injuries of sexual assault or signs of opposition to an attack of that nature. It's the only good news I can give you."
"Don't tell anyone about this."
"But, Yami..."
"No one," he said in a somber voice.
Owen watched him as he walked down the corridor and back out to the street, where the rain had just stopped. His body looked tense, and when he saw his clenched fist, he realized there was blood coming from his palm at the force he was exerting.
A few minutes later, he heard a great noise coming from outside; Yami was probably destroying everything in his path and Owen didn't plan on stopping him. It was better for him to retaliate in that way before he tried to settle accounts with the culprit who did this.
However, what Owen did not know was that the Captain of the Black Bulls, while destroying trees, walls and fences, also set himself a clear goal that would become his obsession for the following hours: he would kill the person responsible for his daughter's suffering and do it in a much more cruel, bloodthirsty, and painful way than they had done to his daughter.
Yami arrived at the Hideout very early in the morning, when he knew that no one had woken up yet. He sneaked into the bathroom quickly, got rid of the blood-stained clothes he was wearing, and bathed to remove the dried blood on his face and arms.
He thought of a thousand ways to act normally with Charlotte and their other children, but he couldn't think of any, so he decided that he would lie and say that Asta had entrusted him with a confidential and urgent mission and that he had to leave that same day, although his lie could be discovered with relative ease.
He would ask Hikari directly who had hurt her when she woke up and would personally take care of going and looking for him. He would do it alone and without anyone knowing, not even Hikari. He would come up with something to make everything go according to his plan.
He walked out of the bathroom with a towel around his waist and looked at himself in the mirror. His hair was flat, and water droplets trickled down the dark strands, before falling to the ground. His face was gloomy. It had been a long time since he had felt so angry, that he felt that he had failed someone and that he had to atone for his failure.
The most rational solution would have been to report the facts to the proper authorities, but Yami had never been rational and wasn't going to change at this point in his life.
He placed his hand on the glass mirror. He was too tempted to break it into pieces with his bare hands, but that would mean making a fuss and he didn't want to do that. He had already destroyed enough in the Capital, but the fury that came from his chest and spread throughout his body didn't stop growing and he didn't know how to control it.
He heard the door opening and instinctively looked towards the sound. It was Charlotte. She seemed to be exhausted, but otherwise normal at least. Yami hoped that she hadn't noticed his absence the night before.
"I didn't expect you to wake up so early."
"I haven't been able to sleep much these days. How's Hana?"
"A little better. Owen told me he would come to see her later. Let's hope he gives us a definitive answer, because Grey has also been with her and says she can't do anything."
"Yeah... Charlotte," he said confidently, trying to sound like usual, "I've gotta go out on a mission today."
"Right now? Yami, Hana's still sick. What if she gets worse?"
"It's urgent. So I can't refuse it."
"Is there no one else who can do it?"
Yami approached his wife, pulled a lock of golden hair away from her face and stroked her cheek with his thumb, while leaving his hand resting on her neck. He needed this. His heart knew that what he genuinely wanted was to break down, tell her everything, and be comforted, but he had to resist and not do any of that.
"If her fever goes up a single tenth, let me know with the communication device and I'll be here in a minute."
Charlotte sighed, stroked his side, which was still wet, and smiled faintly at him, making him very happy, because she had gone a few days without showing such a gesture on her face.
"Okay. Will it be a while before you come back?"
"Nope. Hopefully I'll be back tomorrow, but I've gotta leave now."
"Okay."
"You know, if something happens you call me on that device, alright?"
Charlotte nodded, kissed him on the lips, and left to return to her daughter's room.
Yami, on the other hand, looked in the mirror again when he found himself alone. He didn't like lying, but he knew it was necessary. Because while he could be overprotective of his children, Charlotte was on a completely different level and he didn't want anything bad to happen to her.
He left the Hideout flying on his broom. He toured the Capital, trying to find information about the mission in which his eldest daughter had participated. He found some names of the members that were on the same mission in case Hikari didn't remember it well or simply didn't want to tell him the truth.
At sunset, he went to the Magic Knight Hospital hoping that Hikari had woken up. He walked into the room he assumed she would be in. Looking at the bed, which was in the center of the room, he realized that she was still asleep, but her ki seemed much more active. She had some bandages on her face and arms, but even her skin color had improved since last night.
He decided to sit in a chair next to her bed and wait for her to wake up. He didn't have to wait for long, because as soon as she heard the noise of the chair, she awoke.
Her eyes moved with some desperation, but they immediately calmed down, as soon as they noticed that her father was there, next to her. He looked serious. And not like when she was little and she made a mess, but in a way that she had never seen before. His eyes were screaming with rage.
Her father had never been a man who liked to talk, so she had learned two different ways to understand him. The first was his eyes, which used to talk, telling her their feelings, with their brightness. The second was the reading of his ki, a tool that he himself taught her for combat, and that she sometimes thought had not only been given to her so that it would be useful in battles, but also so that she could understand him better. At that moment, his ki was contracting with an anger she had never seen or felt before, but she knew right away that it wasn't against her.
"Hey, how are you feeling?"
His voice came out much softer than Hikari expected. His ki kept fluctuating violently, but he was trying hard to make it look like it wasn't, even though he knew perfectly well that she could feel it.
She tried to speak, but words did not come out at first, so Yami brought her a glass of water that was on the bedside table and she drank it with some difficulty.
"A-Alright," she whispered slowly.
Yami frowned and intertwined his fingers as he rested his elbows on his thighs for a few seconds. Then he leaned back in the chair and lightly massaged the bridge of his nose. He tried desperately to articulate a half-calm speech, but he didn't know if he would be able to.
"Who did this to you?" He asked dryly.
The girl, consequently, shivered.
"Papa, I... You don't need to...''
"Tell me who did this to you, Hikari. I won't ask you again.''
She swallowed with some difficulty. Yami only called her and her siblings by their names when he was serious. Her chin trembled and tears began to pool in her eyes. She was overwhelmed. She didn't want her father to do anything that might harm him in some way, but she needed to vent to someone and her father had always been her main support.
"I-It was one of the leaders of the mission.''
"Which one?"
"The man. I don't remember his name well, I...''
"Describe him.''
Hikari then began to cry. She couldn't hold back her tears any longer, by now they had been hanging from her eyes for a few seconds. Her throat felt dry and twisted, so twisted that she could hardly swallow her own saliva, and her heart was beating so fast that she could feel her own pulse throbbing in her neck.
"He has long, brown hair... Blue, slanted eyes. He's tall and belongs to the Purple Orcas."
"What else?"
"Papa, please..."
"Tell me."
"He said... He told me to accompany him for a moment, saying that he wanted me to teach him some simple movements that he didn't know how to do well with a katana. We moved farther and farther away from the group, but I trusted him, so I didn't think much of it. He was my superior, so... I trusted him..."
Hikari couldn't take it anymore. She felt so useless and stupid that she couldn't keep talking. She covered her face with her hands as she kept sobbing until she felt a big, rough hand resting on her back. Yami stood there, stock still, not moving an inch and not demanding that she stop crying, calm down or keep telling him about that day's events.
"That just shows that you're a loyal person and that you wanted to learn and do your job well. It's not your fault, brat."
Hearing those words, she uncovered her face and she looked into her father's eyes and saw they were filled with peace at last. She could see a tinge of understanding reflected in them and that managed to calm her down considerably. She wiped her tears and decided to continue talking.
"He attacked me very cruelly from behind. I almost couldn't react. He told me that foreigners like me shouldn't be allowed inside the squads or the kingdom, and that he knew who you were and that he didn't understand how I had been put in his care. Then he started beating me. Again and again without stopping. He tore my clothes, especially my cloak, took off my shoes and after a while I lost consciousness from the pain. When I woke up, it was raining, I was so cold and I just wanted to go home... So... I started walking. I just wanted... to go home..."
Yami hugged her and at that moment she remembered when she was a little girl and fell because she was so excited and wanted to run everywhere. She cried inconsolably until he hugged her and told her that everything was going to be okay and only then did she finally stop.
"Everything's going to be fine, Hikari."
Hikari nodded, and when she stopped crying, she moved away from Yami, who lightly ruffled her hair with a pat on her head. He only smiled, but soon, his demeanor changed. He stood up and began to speak.
"You're going to go to the Hideout tonight and you're going to sleep in Einar's room. Hana's sick, but your mother is with her."
"Hana's sick?" She asked with concern.
"Yeah, but she's getting better and your mom will let me know if she gets worse. You can't tell anyone anything about this. No one. Tomorrow when you see Grey, you tell her to cure you completely. The story you're going to tell them is that you were ambushed, and that the mission was canceled, so you arrived at night somewhat injured and that you didn't want to bother anyone."
"But I don't want to lie to Mama."
"Hikari, I'm not telling you this as your father; I'm giving you an order as your Captain and that means you must obey it."
The young woman averted her gaze while faintly and shyly nodding her head. She had never deceived her mother before, but she couldn't disobey Yami if he acted as her Captain. Her principles and oath simply wouldn't allow her.
"Why aren't you going back to Hideout with me?"
"Asta's entrusted me with an urgent mission. I already told your mother. I'll be back tomorrow.''
Hikari nodded without being able to ignore the lump in her throat or the nervous sweat that ran down the back of her neck.
She watched her father leave the room. She had a bad feeling that wouldn't leave her body and it wasn't in vain either, because her life was soon going to change radically and forever.
It was raining. He couldn't remember the last time it had downpoured like this. The road was slippery and his boots were soaked, but he couldn't leave just yet.
Yami was searching for the man his eldest daughter had endlessly described to him. He searched in the darkest of dark places, because he knew that Magic Knights like that guy would hang around in them, especially the nobles. They were trying to create an ideal and perfect image, but almost all of them were rotten and Yami knew that as soon as he had arrived in the Clover Kingdom.
When Hikari realayed the words the Magic Knight had spoken to her, he knew instantly that he was a nobleman. No one treated foreigners worse than nobles. They believed themselves to be superior beings, but they were truly the lowly ones; They were rats who cared only about their name and their riches, and would push others away and destroy them if the opportunity ever presented itself.
He was waiting at the entrance of a tavern while smoking and sheltering from the rain when he saw a man walk out who matched the description Hikari gave him exactly. He even wore the Purple Orcas robe, so he knew he finally found the culprit.
He followed the Magic Knight stealthily, and when they were passed through a dark and silent alley, he got his attention.
"Hey, you!"
The young man turned around and looked at him grudgingly. He couldn't have been more than twenty years old, but his pride permeated all over his entire face, it was even more noticeable when he looked over his shoulder to stare at the person whom he considered inferior.
"You were in charge of a mission, weren't you? What are you doing here getting drunk?"
"Why the fuck do you care, old man?" He snapped mockingly.
Yami approached him using two steps. Only two. He didn't want to confront the wrong person, so he would make sure that this guy was the one that had attacked his daughter.
"Hikari Sukehiro was with you, wasn't she?"
"Who?" He asked, and then smiled.
"The rookie of the Black Bulls."
"Ah, that one. I dismissed her as incompetent."
Yami finally moved towards him, grabbed him by the cloth of his cloak tightly, and smashed him into a nearby wall. There was so much noise of drunks and brawls in the surrounding area that he knew no one would hear them. All of it would get lost among the other sounds of the night and he could freely act according to his plan.
"You're a sick son of a bitch who's only able to brutalize a little girl by taking advantage of being her superior."
"Little girl? On the contrary, she's actually quite grown."
Yami tightened his grip, beginning to cut off the man's breathing slightly.
"I only told her the truth, that in this kingdom we don't want foreign whores. You didn't train her very well because, uh, she's quite weak. She screamed like a bitch as I beat her. I didn't fuck her though, because I was too disgusted to touch a dirty foreign commoner like her."
Yami then delivered the first punch, instantly breaking the man's jaw with just his strength. Blood gushed out, and dripped down his arm, he saw at least three teeth shoot out of the man's disgusting mouth. He heard the inconsolable screams that tore from his throat and saw tears of pure pain stream down his face, but he didn't care. He had shown no mercy to his daughter, so he would act the same way.
"Now who's the screaming incompetent whore?" He whispered in the man's ear maliciously.
Afterward, he released him sharply, causing his back to hit the ground forcefully.
A gust of wind suddenly blew past them, causing his Black Bull cloak to flutter, and a bolt of lightning that fell nearby illuminated the dark alley.
The moment Yami pulled out his katana, the young man's blue eyes vibrated with the greatest terror Yami had ever seen. But he enjoyed it. He enjoyed it immensely because he knew that this guy had finally realized who he was and that, consequently, his days were numbered.
A/N:
Hi guys! I'm sorry I didn't updated this earlier, but to be honest, I thought I've already updated all the chapters Lyra's translated. My bad. But here's chapter 3 and this is the actual plot of the story. I hope you all enjoy the chapter. Thanks for reading!
