Croft
Detective Croft wanted nothing more than to have this case behind him and Jesse Voda in jail where he belonged. He hated people like Jesse, ones that come from a privileged family that never learned the word no. He could only hope he was raising his son, Parker, to be a better man. Speaking of his little boy, Croft was missing time with him right now to be here at the station. Jesse had been arrested. He should be happy right? No he had no reason to celebrate yet, because when local police got there to arrest him he had been beaten so badly he was now in the ICU. Did Jesse have enemies? Yes he did, but he had been in hiding and no one knew where he was. The Voda's were a very powerful family and had the means to keep him hidden for a long time.
Croft had been sitting in his office going through all his notes on the case when he kept coming back to one name, Ibriham Mazer. He had actually known him as Zmey, when he first got on the force. There was always talk of a man that worked just above the law, He was known for some shady stuff, but never arrested. Like the Voda's he had money and connections. But unlike the Voda's he used it for good, mostly. Did he always go about it in the most legal way? No, but they tended to look the other way because he helped get a lot of bad people off the streets.
Earlier that morning Adrian, Mr Mazurs son had called Croft and told him they found an apartment building in NYC that the Voda family owned and thought it was a possibility he was hiding there. Croft knew it would take some time to get the paperwork ready to go and search the building. He was working on it when a tip came in to the NYC police where Jesse was. They later called to let him know he was indeed at the apartment building and had been arrested,but was now in the ICU.
Croft thought something was off about how everything went down. There were only a handful of people that knew about the apartment building. Himself, Tanner; his partner that had been with him the whole day, Mr Mazur, and Adrian. He knew the victim Rose, was still in the hospital and had no knowledge of his whereabouts. The more he thought about it the more confused he got. So Croft decided to call a couple of people that might be able to lend insight on the situation, Ivan and Dimitri.
Mr Mazur was their boss and they had both worked for him for some time. Croft had gotten to know the two because they worked for the securities part of Mazur Inc. They've helped each other out a few times and had more than just a working relationship. He hated to bring them in for questioning, but he had to clear some things before he moved on to Mazur. He didn't want to outright say that he thought Mazur was guilty, but all the signs were pointing to his involvement.
Croft had Ivan in the office and was waiting for Dimitri to arrive before he started his questioning. He thought it was odd that it took him so long to get a hold of Dimitri, Ivan couldn't even reach him. Croft didn't want to think that he had anything to do with this, but he also knew Dimitri had a bit of a crush on the victim. He didn't know Dimitri to be a violent man and couldn't see him beating Jesse up. He was ready to give up on Dimitri and start the interview with just Ivan, when he finally got a hold of him. Dimitri came quickly to the station and Croft was ready to start his interview.
