A/N: I know it has been a LONG time. The last time I posted was my first semester at University. Now I have just finished the first couple of days of my second semester. I apologize for the wait but I have never been a consistent uploader and college did not help. Hopefully, that will change. I am looking to go back to weekly updates. Sunday you should get another chapter and hopefully the same will happen the following Sunday. (I know my word isn't good enough so I'll just have to prove it to you through actually getting it done.)

In case you haven't been waiting nearly as long, are reading it for the first time, or just don't care I'll keep this short and I'll talk about plans. A little bit of where I've been in the author's note at the end of the chapter.

What I do want to make sure everyone sees is my thanks for your continued support. Every time I get a favorite of a follow I also get a stab of guilt I haven't quite finished this yet. So hopefully this will be to a new me but there is one person in particular I want to thank.

Bstar1715 you have been there since pretty much the start of the story and never fail to send me a PM or a review detailing your thoughts on the most recent chapter or requesting the next installment. Much appreciated. You and everyone who supports my sporadic and often unreliable update schedule. Without further ado, I present to you Chapter 12:

Disclaimer: I don't Own Star Wars Rebels Disney does.

PS: Sorry if the formatting is weird it has been a while since I've edited on FFN's website.

Chapter 12
Reminiscence

When Sabine watched the transport containing her father and Ezra go over that cliff her heart sank in utter disbelief. As the dust settled on the already finished combat Sabine sprinted towards the edge of the cliff desperate to find some sign of either her father or Ezra. She held her breath as she watched a figure rise over the cliff edge, recognizing her father despite the years without seeing him sent her a wave of relief over her. That relief was shoved away when she noticed him wearing a jetpack, meaning Ezra didn't have his.

She willed herself to run faster sprinting right by Kanan who was dusting himself off unaware of the danger his padawan faced. She watched as the gloved hand briefly appeared over the cliff edge only to slip slowly below the stone. Without much thinking, she dove forward scrambling to find Ezra's hand. When she grabbed onto solid flesh she dug her heels into the ground, to her dismay she immediately felt the ground begin to give out as she slipped closer to the edge.

"Sabine let go!" She heard Ezra yell over the chaos.

Before she could call him an idiot for even considering that another body appeared next to her she felt the pressure go away as Ezra slowly was dragged up and over the cliff.

Once he was safely over the edge she looked over to see Faith removing her helmet, moving her dark hair out of her eyes and Ezra standing up brushing himself off.

"Gee thanks, Faith, was wondering what took you so long?" Ezra quipped his toothy smile directed at the Mandalorian.

Before Sabine could respond and tell him that she helped Faith had closed the distance between the two, sending an unknown feeling through Sabine.

"If you ever need me for anything you let me know." Faith purred her hand resting on Ezra's chest.
Sabine recognized the feeling of discomfort and pure jealousy that shot through her. Finally having the courage she stepped one foot closer and raised a hand to try to get the two's attention. To her horror and shock, they ignored her and began kissing, rather passionately she might add. Sabine unable to remove her eyes from the scene in front of her continued to gape, as Ezra broke their kiss and spoke aloud.
"Are all Mandolrians this ferocious?" He teased with a voice that didn't sound like the young boy she knew at all.
"Only when we want to be…" Faith continued both of them continuing to ignore the remainder of the world.

Sabine forced herself to close her eyes and slowly turn away from the scene only when she opened them again she found herself staring at the ceiling of her room in the Mandalorian encampment. Quickly sitting up she looked around her surroundings trying to justify whether she was dreaming or not, after a quick pinch to the arm she did indeed ascertain that she wasn't dreaming and this was real trying to get a grasp on her situation she walked herself through the last day.
I saved Ezra and then me him and my father started talking… We were interrupted because my mother started a comm.

The rest came flooding back to Sabine and quickly the dread settled over her shoulders more than anything else.
Me and Bo Kataan got into it, but she stayed on MY side after it all, they all did.
She briefly remembered the argument getting fierce, especially when two of her defenders were another deserting Mandalorian and Jedi but the meeting was more or less peaceful. Thankfully the weapon had spared her mother and brother only to end the lives of her other clan members. A consequence that weighed heavily on her. Swinging her legs over the side of the bed she decided that a walk and some fresh air would do her well.

Flicking on the lights she quickly dawned her remaining armour. Seeing that it was nearly five in the morning it was probably best to just stay up no real point in returning to sleep. Only when her hand rested on the door to the hallway did she start to wonder what could have caused her to have such a weird dream. Before it could distract her further she let the door slide open and quietly stepped into the hall. Silently the door shut behind her and she moved towards a balcony resting at the very end of the residential section of the building. Only when she was outside and leaning against the railing did she let her thoughts drift to the strange dream and what it meant.
Out of all the things to be concerned about she chose Ezra and Faith. Who to her knowledge weren't even close to dating. Faith had talked about it but that didn't mean it was official by any means, besides, why would she care?
She decided to pick apart the nightm- could she call it a nightmare? It wasn't a pleasant dream but to go so far as to call it a nightmare would mean it was scary to her. What was scary about it?
Losing Ezra was the immediate thought that pushed its way to the forefront of her mind but that didn't make much sense considering she saved him, becoming involved with Faith would do little to her and Ezra's relationship right?
Her thoughts drifted toward one of the first conversations she had with the Mandalorian about Faith confessing her feelings to Ezra, or at least discussing the possibility with him. She had immediately told her that she had no feelings for him and therefore her opinion on the subject mattered little but she wondered if she had been quick to call that bantha ridden.
God, I don't like Ezra, do I? Maybe she was just being protective of him.
She and the Padawan were close yes… but that didn't mean… did it? She squeezed her eyes shut and tried to clear her mind trying to restart her train of thought and get a grip on where she was again. She was so entrenched in her thoughts she didn't even realize that the door opened and suddenly she was aware of Bo-Katan Kryze appearing next to her.
"You're up early," Bo-Katan said startling Sabine as she looked to the older women.
"My lady," Sabine said quickly inclining her head in a show of respect.
"Don't do that…" Bo responded, "I know my past but I am not your Manda'lor."
Sabine paused for a brief moment resisting the urge to bite her bottom lip.
"I respect your leadership abilities and whether or not you are Manda'lor does not change that." Sabine turned back to cold unending darkness, barely illuminated by the waning moonlight.
"This weapon is going to be destroyed." Bo-Katan finally started changing the subject.
"Of that, I have no doubt," Sabine growled out welcoming the subject change despite the corners of her ever-moving mind still nipping at the issue.
Bo smirked before turning towards the younger Mandorlian. "That isn't why you're out here…" She assumed quietly earning a surprised glance from Sabine.
"How do you know that?" Sabine asked not denying her accusation.
"You may be worried about the weapon but your intentions are sure, and while the past may haunt you, confronting it has let you sleep peacefully. No something else dragged you out of bed and onto the balcony." Bo mused watching Sabine's face flash from confusion to amusement then to bewilderment.
"Plus I've seen that face before, that isn't the face of someone considered a deadly weapon…" She paused letting Sabine make eye contact with her. "Those are the eyes of someone trying to sort out their emotions."
Silence dominated the two again as Sabine broke eye contact confirming Bo-Katan's suspicions.
"Am I that easy to read?" Sabine mumbled slightly defeated.
"Not even a little a bit." Bo admitted with a smile, "I just took a lucky guess and landed right."

Satisfied with that answer Sabine leaned back on the railing. Bo-Katan didn't pry further and Sabine was simply grateful for the great warrior's presence. After mulling over the right words in her head she finally turned back to the older Mandalorian.
"I had a strange dream…" She started, deciding to leave the details unsaid, "It disturbed me and I couldn't go back to sleep." Bo-Katan acknowledged Sabine with a nod.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Her tone was neutral, yet soft. Sabine despite her surprise remained silent for a moment more before continuing.
"It has to do with Ezra…" She carefully revealed staring at the railing. Bo-Kataan was for all intents and purposes her leader, but she did trust her and she felt that the trust ran deeper than that of a follower to a leader. She seemed so nice and so willing to open up it was odd yet at the same time comforting feeling.
"You fancy the young Jedi?"
"No, we are just friends." Sabine quickly asserted but despite her firmness to Bo-Kataan she slowly started to doubt herself, Ezra had had a crush on her at one point… That wasn't still the case, was it? Couldn't be. She didn't like Ezra, did she? Hard to tell, couldn't her feelings just be something akin to brotherhood since they were so close? It seemed rather unfair to simply call her emotions attraction. Was he physically attractive? Yes, Sabine decided but just because she thought he was nice to look at didn't mean she also wanted to be with him. Bo-Katan's words yanked her back to the present conversation.
"I thought the protector girl… Faith, I thought she was attempting to court him." Bo-Katan said ever so bluntly. The words kind of shocked Sabine and the statement brought her back to her previous line of thoughts where she was considering if she was jealous or protective.
"Well, I wouldn't know much about that…" Sabine mumbled trailing off as Bo fixed her with a for lack of a better term firm glare.

"I've been single for pretty much the entirety of my life" Bo Katan started leaning on the railing letting Sabine mull over her thoughts without staring her down.
"I'm sure that my feelings are just thinking of him as a brother," Sabine said slowly her tone even.
"Combat will do that to two people… Especially in your case you've been fighting side by side for years and your close years would make you fast friends and even tighter family." Bo reasoned, she swiveled her head to make eye contact with Sabine.
"But it isn't unheard of to develop feelings, this kind of situation tends to allow a relationship to flourish, that kind of trust and bond you have with Ezra isn't an easy one to break, I've heard several stores that are comparable to your own and usually with such a strong connection leaving each others side and trying to find a 'replacement' is difficult." Sabine thought over her words carefully suddenly making a connection in my mind.
"Do you think I'm jealous of Faith because I haven't fought with Ezra for several months so it almost feels like she is trying to replace me?" Sabine was satisfied with her conclusion.
"Well if you're jealous of her then I would be remiss if I didn't tell you I think you like the boy and are upset because someone is moving in on territory you really think belongs to you." Bo-Katan fired back with a smirk wiping the satisfaction off of Sabine's face.
"Maybe jealous isn''t the right word…" Sabine started before being stopped by a sudden hand on her shoulder.
"It was mostly a joke Sabine." Bo said with a warm smile, "Look... My genuine advice? Talk to him."
Sabine scrunched her face in confusion and Bo-Katan chuckled pulling away. "Relationships are built on communication, and while it may seem crazy talk to Ezra. Maybe tell him about your nightmare and say you worried that this Faith girl may not have his best interests at heart?" She shrugged, "I don't know enough of the situation to tell you exactly what the conversation should be about but I do recommend you talk to him." Bo-Katan finished patting her on the shoulder once.
"I don't see what talking to him will do…" Sabine admitted although she hated that she'd been willing to defy the Empire and stand in front of her people only to cower at the idea of an awkward conversation.
It is because of how high you place the value of your and Ezra's relationship.
"It'll allow the both of you to figure out where you stand, and in your case help decide how you feel about Ezra," Bo-Katan said standing up, Sabine could tell by her face she was about to leave and she turned towards the railing mulling over their conversation.
"Thanks for the advice…" Sabine finally said earning a soft chuckle from the women.
"Mandalorians are strong warriors, you have shown great courage where many others have shown fear. Do not count yourself short of anything Sabine Wren." Without further word, Bo-Katan left the balcony leaving Sabine to just her thoughts. Studying the shapes she could make out in the darkness Sabine let out a deep exhale and looked toward the middle of the camp where she figured Ezra was somewhere. She didn't like Ezra, did she? Where was the young boy with the messy hair, street rat, and hotshot attitude that had both charmed and annoyed her?
She remembered when she had climbed down that ladder and found him in that basement, distraught. That was when the image of the cocky boy had started to show the truth. A broken person in need of a loving home and people whom he trusted.
Seeing him light up after she gave him that holodisk meant more to her than she cared to admit. It was probably then that Ezra's comments became more genuine, he became a goofy, helpful, good-hearted, tough-spirited, and passionate, -for lack of a better term- Jedi.
Not to mention that the cleaner hair popped out his compelling electric blue eyes.
Sabine shook her head, she wasn't scared that Faith would be bad for Ezra, she was scared that Faith would be too good and that it meant Ezra wouldn't give her a chance. Standing up and turning back to go inside she nearly laughed at the irony. When did the line between Mandolrians and Jedi get so close together she was considering crossing them? Her ancestors must be rolling in their graves.

"I don't trust him," Lannery said immediately after Thrawn and himself left the room with a sputtering and slightly off-put Tibet Saxon.
The Grand Admiral paused to look down at him and raised a speculative eyebrow, instantly Lannery felt the urge to retreat under the full scrutiny of the Admrial's gaze.
Silence dominated the two for the remainder of the walk through the Imperial complex, it wasn't until they had finally met up with their Stormtrooper escort that the Grand Admiral opened his mouth.
"He is ambitious I agree," Thrawn stated, that cool drawl in his voice so unbelievably concealing.
"I didn't mean to intrude, Sir, I just don't trust a man who would betray the values of his people so willingly," Lannery added as the group continued through the halls the Stormtrooper squad keeping a respectable distance behind them. They approached the main hanger and the large durasteel doors slid open to reveal the busy of Tibet Saxon's personal star destroyer, another reason Lanery didn't trust the man. The Empire had been much kinder to Tibet than to his late brother Gar. Mostly because of Tibet's young age he was far easier to exploit even still Lannery wasn't entirely comfortable writing off the mandolin as a puppet follower just yet.
"You are not incorrect Commander," Thrawn said calmly as he stopped at the ramp of his shuttle.
Lannery had almost forgotten he had the last word during their hallway conversation and scrambled to remember what it was he had been saying.
"What is our next move Grand Admiral." Lannery decided on a neutral saying, not to mention his confusion about the plan. He was sent by the Grand Admiral himself to protect the planet and yet Thrawn had also shown up, did that mean he was being deployed elsewhere?
"I am unfortunately needed elsewhere." Thrawn said slowly, "I will be back in a few days and by then I would expect the rebels to have mounted an assault. It will take careful planning to get Sabine Wren to reveal the inner workings to her weapon. Something I'm not sure Tibet is capable of." He began to walk up the shuttle as a pilot appeared saying something about the ship being ready for lift-off, and the Chimera waiting to jump to lightspeed. He paused at the top of the ramp spinning only his head to look at Lannery.
"I don't doubt that Tibet's naivety will be the end of him. That is perhaps not the worst course of action. Instead, your orders are to wait and salvage what you can out of the no doubt successful attack the rebels will launch." Thrawn continued his stride up the ramp before Lannery sputtered out.
"S-Sir!" He cried a little to loud drawing the look of one too many stormtroopers. Cringing at the Admrial's pointed look he continued in a much quieter tone.
"You mean to let Tibet fail?" He said slowly.
Thrawn paused briefly, "he has already failed. We are merely pushing his failure to its completion." Thrawn turned and finished walking into the shuttle as the ramp rose and the Cabin began to pressurize.
Lannery watched the shuttle slowly lift and fly out of the hanger presumably into the atmosphere and to Thrawn's waiting Star Destroyer.
"Sir." Lannery spun around to see a younger officer staring at him rigid attention pose.
Lannery raised an eyebrow indicating him to speak. "Captain Hemmrick sent for you. She is waiting in your office aboard The Justice."
"Thank you for the update officer," Lannery said dipping his head in mutual respect.
Without further conversation, he saluted and jogged off presumably to a different part of the ship. Good man. Shame that he was stuck in service to an egotistical Mandalorian with a significant hunger for power.
Turning around he marched purposefully to his shuttle and signaled the pilot to take off. "Send a message to the bridge to inform Captain Hemmrick that I am departing immediately."
"Yes sir," The pilot responded mechanically starting the shuttle as the door slid shut and Lannery stood in the cockpit watching the ship rise and leave the hanger.
"Captain Hemmrick acknowledged your message, sir… Says she'll be waiting in your office." The co-pilot said turning back towards Lannery. He saluted the man and walked back to the mid-section of the shuttle. The Journey wouldn't be more than ten minutes but he still felt the need to sit down. Besides, it took every ounce of his Imperial self-control not to smile at the fact that he would get another chance to talk to Jane. Captain Hemmrick, he corrected himself. Smiling as he slid into the comfortable seating on the side of the shuttle he imagined her next to him like they used to be back at the Academy.
"Daniel. I swear if you refer to me as Hemmrick ONE more time I'm going to get married just to change my last name." He never did tell her how he wished it was him she would marry her. Still hadn't. This would make their professional relationship much too difficult. Besides he didn't feel that way anymore. He had moved on ages ago. Still, when the shuttle landed in The Justice's hanger some might say the commanding officer had an extra pep in his step on the way to his office.

A/N: I don't want this to be too long but I do have some things I want to touch on.

First. Weekly updates and fixing the rest of the story. I have recently been reading and rereading some more Star Wars fanfiction and I realize that some of these chapters have incorrect information (I refer to Tibet as Gar saxon and other small things) and even worse grammar something I plan to fix. On top of fixing these errors, I would like to revamp a few of the chapters that I rushed especially to get some more context on Faith and her connection to the crew since I feel like her implementation of the story has been limited so far. Let me know what you all think.

Secondly I have big plans. Big plans I tell you. I have a clear vision of where I want this story to go and probably how it ends. (An ambitious part of my brain even wants to write a sequel but let's get a handle on the first story again before we dream up Sequel talk. Anyway my point is that I would LOVE your feedback. Even if your review is criticism please, I would love to hear it. Anything and everything will help me out.

Thirdly in regards to the chapter itself, I would specifically request your opinion on Sabine... Is she too OOC? Technically her and Ezra's relationship is looking more and more brother and sisterly but I don't find it hard for her to have deeper feelings for him. Or at least feelings she would consider. Also, her talking to Bo-Katan about these feelings may be weird but the little scene they included where Bo-Katan says she is impressed with Sabine carries a lot of weight in my mind. Bo has seen a lot of shit and if she thinks you are a good asset then I hate to break it to you your a damn good asset and I believe that Bo would be more than willing to have this kind of talk with Sabine. But maybe I'm overstepping my idea of the characters. Once again. Would love to hear your thoughts.

With most everything I wanted to say said, I will see all of you gents on Sunday. With chapter 13 (We are approaching the fun stuff and I am excited to be back)

Stay safe everyone and don't forget to R&R!
