Chase barely received any sleep last night ever since his encounter with Ajax.
This whole situation was slowly getting out of hand and he didn't have a clue on how he was going to keep it from away from Ryder and the pups.
The pup walked into the Lookout, rubbing his eyes, trying to stay awake.
The pups greeted him as they noticed the darkness around his eyes.
"Chase? You look terrible, everything alright?" Ryder asked.
"Ye-yeah I'm fine, I just didn't that much sleep." Chase answered.
"You can go back to sleep, I'll bring your—." Chase cut the boy off.
"No, we're not going through this again, I'm fine ok? I-I just need to tell you all something." Chase assured.
Everyone stopped what they were doing and had all their eyes focused on the Shepherd.
"I wanted to tell you pups this, what happened yesterday was nothing to be concerned about, whatever that was, it's over." Chase explained.
Most of the pups believed Chase while others were a bit skeptical, how could it be over that fast?
"What do you mean?" Rubble asked.
"It's done! We don't have to worry about it anymore so how about we all just take some time and relax, let's go to Jake's mountain!" Chase suggested.
Ryder and the pups looked at each other with some worry, they didn't know what Chase was hiding and they knew he wasn't going to spill it anytime soon.
"Any reason why Jake's mountain in particular, pal?" Ryder asked.
"No reason, sir, just want to go snowboarding with the pups." Chase answered.
"That doesn't sound that bad Ryder, can we go?" Rubble asked.
"Yeah, can we?" Skye also asked.
"Well..." Ryder noticed how excited the pups were. "...I don't see why not." Ryder shrugged.
"Yay! Thanks Ryder!" The pups yelped.
Some time passed as the pups headed up to Jake's mountain, the ride wasn't too long and eventually they made it to the resort.
Most of the pups went down the snowy hills as Ryder supervised, being greeted by Jake and Everest, who were checking on things.
"Ryder, dude! Hey, how's things?" Jake asked.
"Hey Jake! Things are fine, just wanted–well, Chase wanted to bring the pups up here, we've had some problems recently but Chase assured we're all fine." Ryder answered.
"That's good, remember if you ever need anything, just call me or Everest, we'll do our best to help, ain't that right?" Jake asked the Husky.
"You know it!" Everest high-pawed Jake.
"Thanks you two, I really appreciate it." Ryder smiled.
"No problem, you and the pups helped basically everyone in Adventure Bay, we'll do anything we can to help out." Jake assured as he petted the Husky. "Whenever you need it Ryder, we got your back. I gotta go check on things, you want to stay here with the pups Ev?" Jake asked.
"Sure! I haven't hung out with the pups in a while! Thanks Jake!" Everest licked her owner's face with laughter exchanged.
Everest ran to the pups as they were getting ready to ride down the hill with their snowboards.
"Alright, let's do this pups!" Rocky raised his paw as the pups except for Chase got into a readying position.
"Hey, wait one second! Skye? Can I talk to you real quick?" Chase asked.
The aviator pup was taken back a bit by the question, she assumed that the only thing on Chase's mind was that encounter with Ajax but apparently not anymore.
"Yeah, sure." Skye got off her snowboard as she followed Chase.
"Just give us two minutes pups!" Chase motioned for Skye to follow him.
Chase led Skye to a a little private area, at least just a place where the two can talk without anyone intruding.
"So what was it you wanted to talk about?" Skye asked.
"Well...you remember what happened at the beach?" Chase asked.
"Yes! How can I not?" Skye recalled with some attitude.
"That's what I wanted to talk to you about, look I just-I figured—." Skye cut the Shepherd off.
"Look, just drop it Chase, something was obviously bothering you that day so it's not—." The cockapoo was cut off by direct contact with the Shepherds lips, completely shocking her to an extent.
Skye was overwhelmed with feelings from the sudden surprise, she felt her heart skipping beats and butterflies in her stomach as time suddenly began to slow down, like if they wanted this moment to last a lifetime.
After what seemed like minutes, the Shepherd pulled back and looked at the aviator pup who still had her shocked expression.
"That make us even?" Chase asked jokingly.
Chase didn't receive an answer.
"I think I broke Skye." Chase joked to himself. "Skye?" Chase waved his paw in front of her, still not receiving any answer.
The pup had enough and began shaking the pup, snapping her back into reality.
"Huh? What?" Skye shook her head.
"There you are! Come on, Rocky's waiting." Chase motioned for the pup to follow.
"Wait...what happened?" Skye asked.
Chase chuckled at the question.
"I made it even, remember now?" Chase asked.
Skye stumbled with her words as she did walking back to the pups, this moment was one of her best and she still couldn't believe it.
The two made it back to the other pups, who were finally happy they can all snowboard together.
"Alright pups, where were we?" Chase asked around.
"We were just about to race down the hill, is every pup ready?" Rocky asked as he looked at the pups.
"Yep!" The pups nodded as they got ready.
"Okay! Three! Two! One! Go!" Rocky motioned for the pups to go down hill.
The pups were basically neck and neck on the way down, Everest noticed a ramp and took it, giving her an advantage in the race. The pups soon caught back up and Marshall, being a clumsy pup, lost control and started tumbling down the hill.
"Pups! Look out!" Marshall managed to yell as he wanted to make sure none of the pups were hurt.
The pups looked in awe as they saw their Dalmatian pass them all up, albeit tumbling down the hill in the process.
The pups caught up with the Dally, helping him with the snow that was littered all over him.
"Well, I guess we know who won." Rocky laughed as he brushed some of the snow off the pup.
The pups joined him in laughter as Chase helped the Dalmatian up.
"You alright?" Chase asked.
"I've been through worse, I'll be fine." Marshall assured.
Ryder soon joined the pups.
"Well, I guess racing didn't work out so well?" Ryder asked.
"You could say that." Marshall answered.
"Come on pups, let's go to the cabin and rest up, watch a movie or something." Ryder suggested.
"Ooh, can we watch the new Apollo movie?" Rubble asked.
"Oh yeah! I heard it was good! There was this—." Everest was cut off by Rubble.
"Shhh! Don't say anything!" Rubble shushed the husky.
"Heh, sorry Rubble! I forgot how much you like Apollo." Everest chuckled.
"Alright, it's settled, come on pups!" Ryder lead the way back to the cabin.
The pups went inside the cabin and got the room ready for the movie they were about to watch.
"Hey, Everest? Any popcorn in the kitchen by any chance?" Ryder asked as he looked around.
"There should be some in the cabinet above the fridge." Everest answered as she got comfortable with the pups.
After a couple of minutes, Ryder arrived with a bowl of popcorn and sat down close to the pups, placing the bowl in front of them as he turned the tv screen on and played the movie.
The movie was your average Apollo episode but as time progressed, the plot got interesting, reeling the pups in.
"Woah! Apollo never had to deal with stuff like this before!" Marshall stated to the pups.
"Yeah! Who knows if he'll make it?" Zuma pondered.
"He'll make it, it's Apollo! He's the best ever!" Rubble exclaimed.
The pups stood quiet as they continued watching the movie, the scene consisted of Apollo saving a civilian, then getting grabbed by a rival super pup. After battling the new foe, after some blows, the super pup was knocked to the ground, making a small crater in the ground.
The pups continued watching in shock.
"Poor Apollo, no one here to help you, you thought you could run from your past huh? Look how far that got you."
Upon hearing that line, Chase became mildly uncomfortable but still kept watching the movie.
"I chose a better path! One without you!" Apollo soon got back up and tackled the other pup at a high speed.
The pups watched in amazement as they saw the hero fight back, even Ryder was interested in the current battle.
"Get him Apollo!" Rubble yelled out.
Apollo flew upwards as the super pup kept antagonizing him.
"Why are you fighting for these people? They don't appreciate the things you do for them! They're a waste!" Apollo then flew downwards and slammed the super pup into the ground, leaving smoke everywhere.
"You're wrong! They're the people I swore to protect! I told you before! I chose this path and I'm not going to change my mind!" Apollo yelled out as he slammed the super pup into the pavement. "Get out of here and don't come back! I'll make you regret it if you do!"
The super pup got up and looked at Apollo.
"Suit yourself, stay alone Apollo, it's always been that way anyway." With that, the rival super pup flew away, leaving Apollo by himself.
The scene was quiet, all that can be heard was Apollo's heavy breathing from the battle, the super pup slumped down in pain as the civilians watched. Slowly the civilians started surrounding the pup, helping him with him injuries as much as they could.
"You're not alone Apollo, we all have your back, you're our hero!" A civilian cheered.
"Yeah!" Another civilian agreed.
"You saved us! You're a part of this family, always have been, always will!" A civilian comforted the super pup.
Apollo couldn't believe anything that he heard but it was true, the civilians loved him and he loved them back.
"Thanks, you guys." Apollo started to tear up. "You really are my family."
Apollo hugged the civilians but it was cut short as he heard someone cry for help.
"Looks like my job isn't quite done yet!" Apollo took off and the credits started to roll.
The pups had their jaws dropped, never had they seen such a movie, especially one about Apollo.
The room was quiet until Rubble yelled out of excitement.
"THAT WAS AMAZING!"
The pups began sharing their favorite moments from the movie as Ryder got up and cleaned whatever was lying around.
After Ryder cleaned up, he called the pups.
"Alright, we had a good day but it's getting late, come on pups, we gotta head back to the Lookout, bye Everest!" Ryder waved.
"Bye Ryder!" Everest waved to him and the pups.
The ride back didn't take too long and before you knew it, the pups were back in the Lookout, just as the sun was beginning to set.
The pups went into their pup houses to sleep for the night.
After some time, a certain aviator pup couldn't sleep, she stepped out of her pup house and knocked on a certain Shepherd's door.
The knock startled the pup, for a second he thought it was someone else, but soon calmed down as he heard Skye's voice.
The pup opened the door and greeted the aviator pup.
"Hey, Skye. Whatcha doing up so late?" Chase asked.
"Hi, Chase. I was having trouble sleeping and I was wondering if I could sleep with you tonight?" Skye asked.
"Yeah, sure, everything okay Skye?" Chase asked with worry.
"No...I-I need to talk to you Chase." Skye stated as she walked in the pup house.
"What's wrong?" Chase asked yet again.
"It's just...that whole situation we had, how is it over already, tell me Chase! How is it already over?!" Skye cried out.
"Skye, calm down—!" Chase was cut off.
"No, I can't! It's worrying to me, something's wrong Chase, please tell me!" Skye begged for an answer.
"What's worrying you?" Chase asked.
"That I'm just gonna wake up one morning and you're gone! I can't even think of losing you!" Skye started tearing up.
Chase just looked as the pup broke down.
The crying aviator pup soon felt paws grasping her and she felt the comfort of Chase around her.
"Shhh, don't worry Skye, I promise none of that is going to happen, I won't leave you or anyone else. You all are too important to me."
The pup sniffled and wiped the tears off her face.
"Swear to me then."
"What?" Chase asked.
"Swear to me that everything you said about this whole thing being over was true." Skye declared.
There was silence.
"I swear." Chase answered sternly.
