Chapter 29:

Harry

In mid August, Harry and his father made their way to Diagon Alley for school shopping. James looked at Harry, saying, "I am sorry for this being so late."

"It's okay, dad," Harry replied with a small smile. "You just finished a big case!" He thought about the case. "It was about the kidnapped muggle girls?"

James looked at him surprised. "How did you know that?"

"You mumble when you're focusing really hard." Harry grinned.

James sighed. "I need to work on that." He smiled at Harry.

Harry laughed, and looked around at the stores as they shopped for his third year at Hogwarts. The clerk in the bookstore didn't want to sell Harry the entire booklist at first, until James stepped up with a glare. The younger man mumbled something about 'Slytherin's heir' and handed over the stack of books to the third year. Harry sighed heavily at the reminder.

"Don't listen to him," James told his son. "You were a victim too."

"Maybe," Harry said, looking down at the books.

"You were." James lifted Harry's chin. "Madam Bones interviewed you herself when I was chasing those kidnappers, and following them for weeks." James tried to lighten the mood with a grin, but it fell quickly. "I'm just glad she was able to get a hold of me. Amelia asked me if she could interview you to put this behind us once and for all, you know."

"Really?" Harry asked, shocked.

"Yes, you didn't think she would just pull you aside and question you, did you? She asked for my permission, and I told her only if your head of house was there in my stead. I even put it in writing and back dated it to the day before I left on my mission." James ruffled Harry's hair.

"Alright," Harry said, ducking away from the hand in his hair. He straightened his hair. "Now, what do we do next?" He looked around at the shopping district. He was a little wary of the shopkeepers and shoppers.

James frowned as he looked around. "I think I'll get a tailor to come to the manor. We'll go home now."

...

In the wet and cold hall of Azkaban, a mousy little man kept an eye out for the guards who would sometimes come by to taunt the prisoners. He watched as the last guard of the night left for the break room to get ready to switch off with another guard. He smirked. Now was the time!

Peter used what little wandless magic he could to transform, and then he was gone. His feet scampered down the hall and he made his way out of the prison, making sure that he wasn't seen by anyone.

...

Harry sat on the train with his male friends while the girls changed in the bathroom. When the girls returned, they came with a new girl... Daphne Greengrass. Harry's eyes widened as he stared at the one they called the 'Ice Queen'... and felt his heartbeat start to race.

She gave Harry a look before looking down at the floor. "Is it okay if I join you?" Daphne asked.

Harry jumped to his feet. Everyone looked at him in surprise. "Milady, Heiress Greengrass," He bowed deeply. "Please, we would be honored if you would join us." He stood up to look at Daphne. She was staring at him, a light blush on her cheeks.

"Thank you," she said.

When she was sat down, Harry took his seat again, not realizing that Draco was still looking at him until Draco's elbow hit his ribs. Harry jerked, looking over at Draco. "What?" he asked.

"You're staring." Draco smirked.

Harry blushed. "Shut up," he muttered. A little while later, they arrived at the Hogsmeade station and they got off the train. Harry followed his friends to the carriages, and they made their way to the castle.

Inside the castle, Harry was pulled aside along with Hermione. Professor McGonagall said to them, "You two have been granted the use of these time-turners." She looked sternly at the two third-years. "You have a few rules. One, you can not let yourselves be seen as you travel in time. Two, if you can not handle the workload, I will take the time-turner from you. And, three, if you break the rules, I will take the time-turner from you." An eyebrow rose up her forehead. "Am I understood?"

"Yes, Professor McGonagall," the two students said together.

The professor nodded and handed over the devices. "Tell no one that you have them."

When they were left alone, Harry and Hermione turned to look at each other. "Well, this will be interesting," Harry said. He nodded to the Ravenclaw and they split to their own tables after entering the Great Hall. Harry walked over to sit next to Draco.

"What did she want?" Draco asked.

Harry smiled. "She just wanted to discuss my classes this year." He listened to Dumbledore's speech, before the two new teachers caught his attention. "What are they doing here?" It was Remus and Sirius!

"I guess one of them is teaching Defense?" Draco shrugged.

Dumbledore announced, "As you might have noticed, we have two new members of staff with us this year. Sirius Black will be taking the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher spot for the year while he recovers from an illness. Remus Lupin-"

"Remus Black," said the gentle werewolf.

Dumbledore blinked in shock, looking back at him. "Remus Black," he corrected himself, still shocked at the two men's relationship. He had thought that he had stopped that line of thinking... "Will be taking over from Professor Bins, who has agreed to move on."

The school erupted in cheers about getting a better teacher for History of Magic. Harry was staring in betrayal at his two godfathers. Why hadn't they told him? Why hadn't his father?
