The morning of after the night they had, Usagi and Mamoru have come with a few things about themselves. Abilities they didn't have before Mamoru was kidnapped. And theories have run through both of their heads as to the reason why it is. What are these abilities and theories?
Mamoru woke up slowly, and even in his half-conscious state, he could feel Usagi lying against his chest. He knew it was her. When it's the love of your life, you feel safe,/i he mused as he opened his eyes to look at her, realizing that during the night, they must have turned to each other probably out of instinct. He thought she looked like an angel as she slept.
Usagi had her head on Mamoru's shoulder and hand laying on his chest. His shirt was wrapped around her, and Mamoru couldn't help it. There was no doubt in his mind that she was beautiful. Really beautiful and all his.
Usagi shuddered in her sleep. "Mamoru," she muttered in distress. "Why? Why are you doing this?"
Mamoru's ears had perked up at the sound of Usagi's voice faltering. "Usako," he said. He shook her gently trying to get her to awaken. He didn't want to startle her.
Usagi clenched her body. "Mamoru," she said again in her sleep, even more distressed.
Mamoru continued to gently shake her. "Come on, Usako," he said as gently moved her on top of him. He rubbed her back trying to soothe her. "I'm right here. I'm not going to leave you again." He took one of her hands and laid it on his chest where his heart would be. "I got you." His fingers combed through her blonde hair.
With that simple promise, Usagi seemed to calm down.
Mamou took the cover and covered their bodies a little bit more thoroughly. He wasn't used to comforting someone, let alone the love of his life. He was surprised by how much he wanted her, and even though it scared him, he didn't want to let her go ever. He quite liked the feeling of being needed. His Usako needed him, and he knew he needed her. He won't ever forget that again. If Beryl tried to kidnap him again, he had a feeling it wouldn't work.
Mamoru looked over at his alarm clock, and it showed that it was eight in the morning. Normally, he would be awake, but he found himself not wanting to get up. He wanted to continue holding Usagi as he already had both arms around her.
Before Mamoru figured out what he was going to do, Usagi awoke. "Mamo?" she asked as she sat up.
Mamoru smiled, thankful she remembered his pet name. "Good morning," he said, following suit and laid his back against the wall.
Usagi stared at him, not sure what she should do. "It really happened?" she asked as tears started to fall from her eyes.
Mamoru leaned over and gave her a quick kiss. "It did," he said. He took her and brought her into his arms. "I love you, Usako."
Usagi still felt incredibly unsure of herself. "So I suppose you have a lot to figure out," she said.
"I do," Mamoru agreed. He just didn't want to figure out what he needed to figure. He was more content holding and kissing Usagi. She thought she tasted sweet like candy, like something he could get addicted to if he wasn't paying attention. She was his drug. "But it's not important. Being reacquainted with you is more appealing."
Usagi slowly smiled at him, feeling the joy and the warmth from him. "I love you, Mamo," she told him. "It's just not us you have to figure out; it's school, your apartment, Beryl, and Kunzite."
"The landlord automatically takes money out of an account every month," he told her. "I'm not going to be homeless."
Usagi stared at him.
"My parents had put money in a trust," he told her. "I didn't have access to it until I turned eighteen."
"Where are your parents?" Usagi asked him.
"They died in a car accident on my sixth birthday," Mamoru answered, surprised he felt comfortable sharing his past with her. "That accident also robbed me of memories of them."
"You were in the accident, too?" Usagi asked as she looked up at him.
"I was," Mamoru answered. "There wasn't a scratch on me, so there wasn't anything wrong with me other than my memory." Memories long buried about the accident started to surface. "The doctors had to tell me my name, and even my own name sounded foreign to me."
Usagi smiled. "More comfortable with being called Endymion?" she asked, teasingly.
"I suppose," he said. "But memories of Serenity started to surface then as well."
Usagi stared at him. "You've been dreaming of me since you were six?" she asked. "I would've been-what?-two, three years old?"
Another memory started to shake around in his head. "Usako, what hospital was your brother born in?" he asked her slowly.
Usagi looked up at him curiously wondering why he was sounding like that. When she told him what hospital, she watched his eyes widened.
"Usagi, after your brother was born, did you come with your father to visit your mother to give her flowers?" Mamoru asked her. His hold on her had tightened. "Roses?"
"Mamo?" she asked, concerned.
"Usako, please answer the question," he begged.
"Yes," Usagi answered. "Apparently, while my father was verifying what room my mother was in, I ran off, and I found an orphaned boy and offered him a rose because he was crying." Then she put it together. "Are you…" Usagi looked up at him. "Are you telling me you were that orphaned boy?"
"You told me you would be my friend," Mamoru told her. "Because my only friend was leaving."
"Oh my God," Usagi said. She sat up and then laid her head against his shoulder. "After you had been placed in foster care, my father tried to find you and couldn't."
"They were still trying to find any of my family that would take me," Mamoru told her. "They wouldn't have shared my information with anyone as I was a minor, and they definitely wouldn't have given it to a journalist." He remembered Rei telling him Usagi's father was an editor for a magazine.
"Mamo," Usagi said with sympathy on the verge of tears.
"I'm not telling you because I want you to feel sorry for me, Usako," Mamoru told her, but since he had already told her this much, he told her the rest. "Of course, they didn't find anyone; not that it matters, I wouldn't have remembered any of them if they had. They placed me in a group home, and I stayed out of everyone's way. I made sure I got good grades to get into good grades. However, I remembered that little boy who left me and that little girl who told me she would be my friend."
Usagi shifted so she could watch his face. "Mamo, my parents had talked about wanting to adopt you if they could find you," she told him. "It drove my father crazy because the system was working against him." Usagi sighed. "It killed him. He had to let go because he had my mother, me, Shingo. He didn't want to."
Mamoru closed his eyes. He knew what Usagi was saying. "If your father was able to find me…" He trailed off thinking what perhaps would have been the outcome.
Usagi gave him a small smile. "Then everything that had happened with the Dark Kingdom wouldn't have happened," she finished. "Apparently, everything happens for a reason."
Mamoru leaned over and kissed Usagi. He maneuvered them, so she was laying underneath him. He laid his forehead against hers. "Apparently, you show up when I need you too," Mamoru told her. He felt humbled by her.
Usagi laid her hands on Mamoru's face. She was thinking about what he just told her. She did wonder what would have happened if her father had found him. Everything would have been different.
The melancholy broke when Usagi's stomach growled which made Mamoru burst into laughter and made Usagi blush.
"Sorry," Usagi mumbled.
Mamoru shook his head, and because he couldn't resist, he kissed her sweet lips. "I don't know what it's in my kitchen," he told her. "I'm sure we can scrunge something up." He kissed her one more before he rolled over off of her and off the bed. "There are towels in the closet in the bathroom if you want to shower before putting on the clothes you wore yesterday."
Usagi watched him leave the room and let herself settle. iWhat are the odds?/i she thought as she followed suit. She took him up on his offer of a shower though, and she remembered that he had told her her mother wanted her to call, probably just to check in. She was grateful that Minako had informed her mother believed she slept over at her house. She needed this time with Mamoru. She wondered when however the Dark Kingdom would push away at their happiness. She really hoped that she would have some more alone time with him.
When she finally walked out of the bathroom, Usagi was starving, but she felt clean, happy, and her normal twin buns. She opened the bedroom door to the rest of the apartment. The first time she had seen the rest of his apartment. It kind of amazed her the first thing she saw in his apartment was his bedroom and bathroom. Now, as she opened the door, she saw the rest of his apartment. It was a nice looking apartment. It was very masculine, very Mamoru.
Usagi could smell food cooking and followed the scent. She was able to catch Mamoru cooking breakfast. It was a sight to behold, and it made her smile.
Mamoru had noticed, while Usagi was walking in his apartment, he was able to pinpoint where she was in his apartment. He knew he didn't have the ability before Beryl had kidnapped him, and he wondered if he had that ability in the Silver Millenium. "Breakfast will be ready in a moment," he said, without turning as he flipped a piece of French toast. "Luckily, you took a long shower, I had to make a quick trip to the store to pick up a few essentials."
Usagi walked over to him. "How did you know I was behind you?" she asked curiously.
This time Mamoru did turn around. "I can sense you," he confessed. "I knew when you stopped out of the shower and walked into my room."
"Could you find me like this before the Dark Kingdom kidnapped you?" Usagi asked.
Mamoru shook his head as he transferred the French toast onto a plate and walked over to the dining room table where he had already placed the scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage. He laid the plate of French toast on the table and pulled out a chair for Usagi.
Usagi walked over and sat, and with Mamoru's assistance, the chair was pushed in. "Thank you," she said.
Mamoru took the chair across from her, and they started to pile food on their plates. "No," he said. "I didn't." It was something he had thought about while she was taking a shower. "I can sense when you transform into Sailor Moon and know you need my help."
"This is something new then," Usagi stated.
"Or an extension to that ability," Mamoru stated, feeling that was more of an accurate description. He had a feeling that this extension was because he understood his feelings for and knew she loved him in return. He was curious to know what Ami thought about this ability or possibly come up with her own theories.
"You can ask Ami," Usagi said. "She's better at that sort of thing."
Mamoru just smiled at her and shifted the conversation while they ate. He had asked her about her own life, friends, school, among other things. He wanted to be normal with her before reality kicked in on them.
After breakfast, Usagi had asked him to use his phone to call her mom, and when Mamoru pointed it out, she walked over to it. As she started to dial her home number, Mamoru hugged her from behind. "You're supposed to be at Minako's," he reminded her. "If they ask if you're coming home, just tell them you have plans with her and the other girls. If they ask, let them know it's a surprise."
"Alright," Usagi said. She laid her head against his chest as she heard the phone ring.
"Tsukino's residence," she heard her father, Kenji, answer.
"Hey, Dad," Usagi said, nervously. "Mom said I should call when I woke up this morning."
Kenji chuckled. "Mom said you fell asleep at Minako's."
"I did," Usagi said. "I guess it finally caught up to me."
"Kenji, you give me that phone," Usagi could hear Ikuko say.
"Well, she's talking to me," Kenji responded.
Usagi could imagine the playful argument they were having despite both of them being worried about her. "I want to talk to Mom, Dad," Usagi told her father.
Kenji signed in mock horror. "Fine," he said. "I know when I'm not wanted."
There was a pause before Ikuko got on the phone. "Hi, Usagi," she said. "Did you sleep well?"
Usagi turned to look up at Mamoru and smiled at him. "I did," she said. "The best sleep I had in a very long time." She switched the phone to a different ear as she let herself be held by Mamoru.
"Good," Ikuko said. "Do you have any plans today?"
"The girls want to take me somewhere, but they're being secretive about what it is," Usagi said.
"You have clothes at Minako's?" Ikuko asked.
"I do," she reminded her mother.
"Will I see you tonight?" Ikuko asked.
Usagi turned herself in Mamoru's arms to look up at him to look into his midnight blue eyes, answering his unasked question as well as answering her mother's. "I don't know," she told her. "But if I'm not, I will definitely call you."
"Alright, sweetie," Ikuko said, making the decision to trust her daughter. "You know you can confide in me?"
Usagi chuckled. "Yes, Mom," she said. "I know. I love you."
"I love you, too," Ikuko said. "Have a good day. Good bye."
"Bye," Usagi said and hung up the phone. She wrapped her arms around Mamoru. "Thank you."
"Always," Mamoru said, rubbing his chin on the top of her hand. "You might want to call Minako to bring you some clothes."
"That's a good idea," she said. She leaned up and kissed him. "She's going to be nosy and want the scoop on us, and I can't have you in my space for that."
Mamoru laughed and leaned to kiss her. This time he lingered over it until she moaned. He wanted nothing more than to pick her up and head to the bedroom, but he knew she wasn't ready for that. Their relationship was too new for that.
"Mamo," she said when he lifted his lips from.
Mamoru smiled over her reaction, enjoying it thoroughly. "Minako," he said, reminding Usagi what she still needed to do. "I'll clean the table." However, he didn't let her go, didn't want to let her go.
"Mamo?" Usagi said, after she recovered. "Space?"
Mamoru let her go begrudgingly and turned to the table to start cleaning.
Usagi watched him for a moment before she called Minako. She had a feeling something happened yesterday after her friends left. She dialed Minako's number. "Hello?" she heard Minako say.
"Minako, it's Usagi," she said. "I know there's an update, but I need you to do me a favor. The clothes I have at your house. I need you to bring them to me at Mamoru's." Usagi was so proud of herself that she remembered to say his full name as the pet name had gotten a little too easy to say.
"No pet names, yet?" Usagi could hear the smile in Minako's voice.
"Well…"
"Ooooh, there is," Minako said. "Give me the dish."
"Minako," Usagi said. "My clothes?"
"I got you, Usagi," Minako said. "There's an update, and we need to have a meeting a.s.a.p. Today would be best. It's all Ryo."
Usagi shifted and looked over at Mamoru to watch him work. "Can you give me a run down?" she asked. "Or is it asking too much?"
"Girl, it's a lot," Minako said. "Ryo has a better handle of his ability, and it has to do with Beryl's generals." She tried to keep her voice level, but she knew she failed when Usagi said her name.
Usagi picked up the crack in her friend's voice. "Minako, how bad is it?" she asked slowly with sympathy. "Don't leave anything out."
Minako broke down crying and spilled everything that she knew. "Ryo told us that like you, we, the Sailor Guardians, had loved one of the prince's generals. Mine was Kunzite. After the events of Tokyo Tower, I started having dreams about him," she told Usagi. "Ryo told us that it was true. All of it. His ability has shown this to him."
Usagi was forming her own theory on the subject, and because of who she was, she had been afraid to voice. Usagi didn't question Minako about if it was true because they both trusted Ami who trusted Ryo, and that's enough for her.
"I think there's more Ryo isn't telling us," Minako said. "I know it. I think he may have told Ami whom he walked home with." She sniffled. "I think Ryo may have an idea of how to save Kunzite and resurrect the other generals. Usagi, they are not Beryl's generals; they are Prince Endymion's Shittenou." The word came to Minako in a dream that night.
"I believe you," Usagi said. As her friend spoke, memories of the Shittenou from her previous life started to flood in her mind. She remembered them being good, strong men in their own way remaining loyal to Endymion. "Let's meet here, and bring Luna and Artemis with you. Please, don't forget my change of clothes. Start the phone tree." Usagi shifted from friend to leader. "Whatever Ryo tells us, Minako, we'll figure it out together. Okay?"
"Okay," Minako said, sniffling one more time. She had been comforted by the promise her friend made. "Give me two hours."
"Perfect," Usagi said. "I'll see you then." She hung up as she realized that reality crashed their normal day.
"I take it reality is taking precedence?" Mamoru asked from behind her.
"Yes," Usagi said. "I'm sorry." She laid against the wall and then told him what Minako told her. "I hope you don't mind that they can come here for the meeting. Normally, we meet at the Hikawa Shrine, but with you and Ryo being included in the meeting, I don't think Rei's grandfather nor Yuuichirou can handle that."
"Not a big deal," Mamoru said. "It makes sense." He was still reeling over the fact that Beryl's generals were really his Shittenou. Though, after being told, a part of his memory of his past life had been unlocked. "Why are our memories filling faster than your Guardians?"
Usagi shook her head. "That's a question I have," she said. "I also have another theory, and we can ask them when they get here."
Mamoru looked at her curiously. "What are you thinking?" he asked.
"In our previous life, you didn't get brainwashed like you did in this one," Usagi said. "I think it has to do with the fact that we knew we loved each other then, and in this life, we didn't know how the other person felt about the other."
Mamoru stared at her amazed that once again she had nailed one of his theories. "Usako, we were fighting cats and dogs," he reminded her.
"You mean like me and Rei?" she asked, giving him a look.
"Point made," Mamoru said, realizing how wise she was.
"Mamo, I don't think the Sailor Guardians nor the Shittenou had confessed their feelings in their previous life," Usagi said, informing of her latest theory. "That's something we need to ask them."
"Because they sure didn't confess their love in this life," Mamoru said.
"Mako didn't even meet Nephrite in this life," Usagi pointed out, remembering which of her Guardians was with which of his Shittenou. A memory came to her, and she smirked.
Mamoru shook his head. "Serenity did like when it was he and Jupiter on guard duty," he said, remembering what Usagi said last night.
"Serenity?" Usagi said with innocence. "Endymion was the one who knew how to get past them."
"Kunzite would always give him a tongue lashing for losing them," Mamoru remembered and then chuckled. He went still as another memory of Nephrite flashed in his memory. "The night before they disappeared, Nephrite told Endymion he was planning on confessing to Jupiter about how he felt about her." He remembered it was just days before Endymion went up to the moon to inform Serenity what was going on on Earth, days before the Dark Kingdom obliterated the Silver Millenium.
"Did they all disappear on the same day?" Usagi asked him.
"Yes," Mamoru said. He remembered that Endymion hadn't told Serenity that his Shittenou had disappeared when they had spoken.
"Why didn't Endymion tell Serenity what happened to the Shittenou?" she asked.
"He didn't want to believe the worst had happened," Mamoru said with a hint of pain. "When they showed up at the moon, the pain was unbearable."
"Serenity could feel his pain," Usagi told him. "She could sense it."
Mamoru stopped and gave Usagi a look. "Sense?" he asked.
Usagi nodded. "Yes," he said.
"Usako, I think you can tell when I'm holding back," Mamoru told her.
Usagi stared at him and realized the truth. It was an ability. She had sensed he was holding back something, but she had believed he would tell her when he was ready. "Yes," she said. "Since this morning… I was just going to wait it out until you were ready to tell me. If you're not ready to tell me, I won't force you."
Mamoru chuckled as he fell a little bit more in love with Usagi. "You are so kind, and so brave for being so kind," he told her. "I love you." He leaned down and kissed her. "I love you, Usako." He kissed her right below her right earlobe. "I love you." He kissed her again below her left earlobe. "What I've been holding back isn't what you think, Usako."
Usagi felt a little drunk on what he's doing to her. "What have you been holding back?" she asked him.
"I want you so much," he told her. "I want to feel you squirm underneath me as I drive you crazy. I want to touch you everywhere and want to know how it feels to be inside you completely."
Usagi closed her eyes and laid her head on his chest. She could feel her cheeks flush with embarrassment.
Mamoru took his fingers and her chin to make her look at him. "You're not ready for that yet," he told her. "I can wait." He kissed her again. "But I have to learn to communicate with you."
"Mamo," Usagi said, taking his wrist before he dropped it. "Just know, with any subject, I'm not going to make you tell me until you're ready, okay?"
Mamoru laid his forehead against her appreciative of what she was saying. He had a feeling if something was more urgent, it might be different, but only time will tell. Though, he realized, he did put that particular ball in her court. "Okay," he answered. "Is your phone tree completed?"
Usagi looked over at a clock on one of Mamoru's walls. "Probably," she said. "We have less than two hours before they get here. Is there anything we can do in the meantime?"
Mamoru smirked, but it was short lived when he heard something weird scratching the apartment door. "What is that?"
Usagi started laughing. "Maybe Luna couldn't wait," she said. She walked over to the door and opened it herself.
Luna came in followed by Artemis. Once when the door was closed, Luna jumped into arms. She had been so worried about Usagi, and by the way Usagi was holding on to her, she knew her charge felt the same way. "I'm sorry," Luna said, nuzzling Usagi.
"Don't apologize, Luna," Usagi said. "I get it. I didn't mean to worry you."
Artemis and Mamoru looked on while Usagi and Luna had their moment. It was clear to Mamoru how Usagi felt about Luna even though sometimes she could drive her crazy.
"Luna," Artemis said, turning his attention to Mamoru.
"Alright," Luna said, realizing the moment was over. She jumped down from Usagi's arms and walked over to Mamoru. "Thank you."
"For being the cause of her pain, the cause of her worry, for months on end?" Mamoru asked. "Because I was…"
"Mamo," Usagi said, exasperated.
"Usako," Mamoru said back. "I was for months, and I couldn't help that anymore than you could. You, with your kindness and with your braveness, have willingly forgiven me for everything, even while you were the one that saved me."
"Told you," Artemis said to Luna.
"Thank you," Mamoru said when Usagi walked over to him to wrap her arms around his neck and wrapped his arms around her middle. They just held on to each other. "Thank you."
"I will do anything to keep everyone that I love safe," Usagi told him. "Including you." She let go and turned toward Luna and Artemis and saw Luna's expression who was staring at Mamoru. She started laughing. "Mamo, you might want to get cleaned up before Luna has a heart attack."
Mamoru laughed and kissed Usagi before letting go. He walked into his bedroom to shower and dress.
"Did anything happen last night?" Luna asked, hoping the answer was no.
Usagi smiled at her. "He was a complete gentleman," she told Luna.
"You two do look really comfortable with each other," Luna commented. She wasn't sure how she felt about how fast Usagi and Mamoru got cozy with each other. She could clearly see there was love on both sides, and they both wanted each other.
"Luna?" Artemis said.
"Artemis," Luna snapped back.
Artemis sighed. "Luna, we both heard what Minako said last night," he said. "It's already happened. Box it up and put it elsewhere."
Luna sighed and did what Artemis suggested.
"She gave me the rundown too," Usagi said. She realized then that they more likely already knew that. "Mamoru and I have a theory." Usagi walked over to the living room as they started to discuss the theory and waited for everyone to arrive.
