There are Pokémon all over the world and in every region they are different. When a boy or girl turns 10 they begin their Pokémon journey, then they officially become a Pokémon trainer. But 10-year-old Roan has very different plans. He wants to take over the gym from his big brother, now that his big brother Raihan is joining the Elite Four.

The Galar Region has never had an Elite Four, but Leon the Champion has decided to create one. Raihan and Leon are best friends, but also each other's rivals. Ten years ago Raihan and Leon fought for the title of Champion of Galar and Leon won from him, then Leon fought the then Champion and won and thus the Champion's title. Leon has been skipped since that day. Raihan was disappointed that he had not won, but was happy for his friend. And eventually Raihan became the the gym leader of the Hammerlocker gym.

Leon still visits a lot and as a champion has also traveled a lot to other regions such as Kanto, Jotho, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos and that's why he had thought of giving the Galar Region an Elite Four and he wanted Raihan to be part of it because he is a strong trainer and Raihan agreed to join the Elite four.

Leon also mentioned that he would also like to travel to Alola someday, but that he is going to get busy now with the upcoming Galar League.

So now that Raihan would get the title of one of the members of the Elite Four, Roan would take over the gym.

Roan was sitting in his room, playing a computer game as he often does. After a long time of playing, Roan turned off his computer and headed towards the gym.

"Hi big bro," Roan greeted, entering the gym

"Little bro, what are you doing here?" Raihan asked, being surprised to see his little brother in the gym.

"You know, I come to see my gym," Roan replied.

"Your gym?" Raihan asked.

"Yeah, now that you're joining the Elite Four, I'm going to take over the gym," Roan said.

"And who says you're gonna do that?" Raihan asked.

"Raihan the Hammerlocke gym has been in our family for generations, so it seems pretty logical that I should take it over from you now," Roan answered.

"You don't even have a Pokémon," Raihan said.

"I use the Pokémon that are in the gym, that's what they're there for," replied Roan.

"I trained all those Pokémon and you didn't help me with that," pointed Raihan out.

"What's the big deal? Roan asked, not understanding why Raihan was acting so difficult.

"You're not ready to take over the Hammerlocke Gym," said Raihan.

"How can you say that? I'm ready for it," Roan replied.

"Then prove it to me little brother," Raihan said. "In a fight."

"All right, I'll prove it," said Roan.

"Okay, it's three on three battle, if none of the Pokémon are able to battle, you lose," Raihan explained. "And you're not allowed the switch in between battles."

"You're on," Roan said, ready to battle his brother.

"Now pick your three Pokémon," Raihan said, pressing one of the icons on his phone and a platform with a lot of Pokéballs on it appeared right in front of the brothers.

Roan chose three Pokéballs and so did Raihan. The platform disappeared and the brothers both walked to the other side of the battlefield and were now directly opposite each other.

"You may begin brother," Raihan called.

"Okay, here we go!" Exclaimed Roan.

Roan selected a Pokéball and pulled out a Pokémon.

"Cool, a Turtonator," Roan said, looking that the Pokémon.

"I'm counting on my friend," Raihan said, placing the Pokéball against his forehead. "Now Duraludon I choose you."

Raihan threw the Pokéball on the the field and Duraludon rose from his Pokémon and was ready to fight,

"Duraludon is part Steel-Type and while I'm fighting a Turtonator that is part Fire-Type, so I have an advantage. Roan thought to himself. "Now Turtonator FLAMETHROWER!"

Turtonator roared and created a strong Flamethrower that went straight at Duraludon.

"IRON DEFENSE," Raihan commanded.

Duraludon listened to Raihan and used Iron Defense, Duraludon was hit by Flamethrower, but due to the Iron Defense he didn't take much damage from it.

"Use your DRAGON PULSE!" Commanded Raihan.

Duraludon used Dragon Pulse and it hit Turtonatar and blew him away, Turtonator hit the wall and went out.

"No," exclaimed Roan in disappointment.

Roan grabbed Turtontar's Pokéball and returned it back into its Pokéball. Roan grabbed another Pokéball and pulled out another Pokémon and it was Noivern.

"Noivern use DOUBLE TEAM!" Commanded Roan the Noivern.

Noivern surrounded Duraludon with as many as 14 copies of it. Roan got a grin on his face and thought he will win now. But Raihan was not worried at all.

"Spin around and use DRAGON TAIL!" Raihan said

Duraludon roared and spun around as each hit every Noivern with his Dragon's Tail and finally the real Noivern, who was knocked out at once.

"What the ...," Roan began.

"2 defeated, 1 to go," Raihan said.

Noivern return, Rain said, returning the knocked out Noivern back to its Pokéball

Roan grabbed his last Pokémon and pulled out his last Pokémon. Roan's last Pokémon was Goodra. Roan looked at brother with a determined look in his eyes, who was just simply staring ahead.

"Now Goodra DRAGON PULSE," Roan began

"HYPER BEAM!" Raihan shouted.

Duraludon let out a powerful Hyper Beam and it hit Goodra even before he could launch his Dragon Pulse. The battlefield was filled with dust and no one could see anything. When the dust cleared, Roan saw Goodra knocked out on the ground and Goodra unable to continue fighting. Roan pulled out Goodra's Pokéball and returned it to its Pokéball.

Raihan grabbed Duraludon's Pokéball and walked over to him. "You fought well my friend, now take your rest," Raihan said. Duraludon nodded his head and Raihan returned him to his Pokéball. Raihan put Duraludon's Pokéball away and walked over to Roan, who was sitting on the ground feeling defeated.

"I lost," Roan said.

"Sorry brother, but did you expect otherwise?" Raihan asked.

"I thought maybe I'd have a chance after all," Roan answered.

"You were very wrong about that," Raihan said. "Why would you think such a thing at all?"

"But Raihan…," Roan began.

"No, you're gonna listen to me now, Roan," Raihan said.

Roan was surprised by his brother's reaction and gulped. "What do you want to say?" He asked nervously.

"Do you want to take over the gym because you really want to or because you thought you were entitled to?" Raihan asked.

"The gym belongs to our family, right? It's only fair that I should take it over from you now that you're joining the Elite Four," explained Roan.

"Even so, don't think you'll be getting the gym. You've never shown any interest in the gym," Raihan pointed out.

"That's not true," said Roan, trying to defend himself.

"It isn't? You barely went to gym battles, you never helped me take care of the Pokémon and you never helped train them. I've already trained Pokémon, including the three you used," Raihan said.

"And they lost, they were defeated with a single attack from you," Raihan said.

"Turtonator, Noivern and Goodra are good Pokémon and they are strong fighters," Raihan replied.

"Apparently not strong enough to win this battle," Roan replied.

"That's more your fault, then theirs," said Raihan.

I knew what I had to do, I knew what attacks I would use, I used my brain power, a angry Roan said.

"Pokémon battling is more than just brain power, It's heart and friendship. If you have a strong bond with your Pokémon and unbreakable friendship they will become stronger too," Raihan explained.

"We didn't learn that in trainer school and I was top of the class," Roan replied.

"Even if your Pokémon are so strong in power, if your heart is not really in it, they will never reach their full potential," Raihan explained.

Roan didn't know what to say anymore, he felt humiliated and went back towards his room. Even though Raihan knew that Roan needed to be taught a lesson, he still felt sorry, Roan will always be his little brother.

Raihan grabbed his Rotom-Phone a called a number. "Hi, with Raihan from the Hammerlocke gym, I was wondering if you could do something for me?" He asked to the person on the other end of the phone.

The next day. Raihan entered Roan's room and saw he was still sleeping. Roan it's time to up, he said.

"Raihan, what is it? Asked the still half asleep Roan.

"Change your clothes and we have to go, Raihan said, without giving any explanation

"Go where?" Asked Roan.

"We're going to Wedgehurst," Raihan replied.

"But why?" Roan asked in confusion.

"You'll find out later," Raihan simply said. "Get changed and then we have a quick bite to eat."

Roan had no idea what his brother was up to, but he was curious. Roan quickly changed his clothes and went downstairs. After breakfast Roan joined Raihan in the car and they drove together to Wedgehurst.

"Why are we going to Wedgehurst, Raihan?" Roan asked again

"Because that's where your adventure is going to start for your little brother," Raihan replied.

"My adventure?" A confused Roan asked.

"I talked to Professor Magnolia and I was able to arrange for you to get your first Pokémon," Raihan said.

"But why did you do that for me?" Roan asked.

"Look, I'd love nothing more than for you to take over the Hammerlocke Gym, but you're not ready," Raihan explained. "But when you've made this journey, I think you could be ready for it."

"So I'm supposed to participate in gym battles too?" Roan asked.

"A Pokémon journey isn't just so you can have Gym battles. It's a journey to discover who you are, what kind of trainer you really are," Raihan said.

"I don't know about this, Raihan," Roan said.

"Trust me little bro, this journey would teach you a lot," Raihan said.

Roan looked at his brother and honestly didn't know what to think. Roan looked out his window at Pokémon he saw all passing by and began to think what kind of adventure he will have.

At the same time somewhere else not far from the Galar Region. 10-year-old Ash Ketchum was on a ship and was on his way to the Galar Region with his best buddy Pikachu. Ash and Pikachu could already see the buildings from afar.

"We're almost there Pikachu," Ash said.

"Pika," squeaked Pikachu.

"A new adventure awaits us there," Ash said.

"Chaa," Pikachu cheered.

"Look out Galar Region, because here come Ash and Pikachu!" Ash cheered.

Pikachu cheered along with Ash and was just as excited as he was for their new journey. Fifteen minutes later, Ash and Pikachu arrived in Galar and looked around at everything going on around them. The two walked to the train station and boarded the train that would take them to Wedgehurst. Fortunately, the train ride did not take that long and Ash and Pikachu had arrived in Wedgehurst. Pikachu jumped off Ash's shoulder and ran across the road.

"Pikachu look out!" Ash yelled, seeing Raihan's car heading towards Pikachu.

"Raihan watch out for that Pikachu!" Roan shouted, seeing the little mouse on the road.

Raihan hit the brakes hard and the car stopped right in front of Pikachu.

Ash ran over to Pikachu and picked him up. "Pikachu are you okay?" He asked.

"Pika," Pikachu cried, putting his head in Ash's chest, while Ash petted his buddy's head, trying to calm him down.

"Hey, everything okay here?" Raihan asked, as he got out of the car.

"Yeah, he's just really freaked out," Ash explained.

"So are we, I'm sorry," Raihan apologized.

"It's okay. Everyone's in one piece," Ash said.

"I do feel a little guilty about almost touching your Pikachu. Is there anything I can do for you?" Raihan asked.

"Well, if you could give me directions to Professor Magnolia's lab, that would be great," Ash replied

"I have a better idea. You can ride with us," Raihan said. "We were heading there anyway."

"Thank you very much," Ash said.

Ash and Pikachu got into the car with Raihan and Roan and the four of them headed for Professor Magnolia's lab.

"I forgot to introduce myself I'm Ash Ketchum," Ash said, introducing himself to the two brothers. "Oh and this here is Pikachu."

"Pikachu," squeaked Pikachu, waving to the two brothers.

"That's my little brother Roan," Raihan said. "And I'm Raihan, the Hammerlocke Gym Leader."

"Wow, you're a gym leader, that's so cool," Ash said.

"What are you doing here anyway Ash?" Roan asked.

"I'm from Pallet Town myself and I'm here in Galar to start a new journey. Professor Oak contacted Professor Magnolia and said could meet her in her lab," Ash explained.

"Pallet town, that's in the Kanto Region right?" Roan asked.

"That's right," answered Ash.

"Then you're a long way from home," Roan concluded.

"Yes, but I have my buddy Pikachu with me and I feel at home and then it doesn't matter what region I'm in," Ash explained.

"So you and Pikachu have a strong bond?" Roan asked.

"Pikachu is my best friend, We've been through so much together, traveled so much together. A good bond with your Pokémon is very important if you want to become a good trainer," Ash said.

"Those are wise words, Ash," Raihan said.

Ash and Pikachu both had smiles on their faces. Roan looked at Ash and Pikachu and even though he had only just met Ash, he could already see that Ash and Pikachu had a close friendship.

"Why are you guys going to Professor Magnolia?" Ash asked out of curiosity.

"For Roan, he's getting his first Pokémon today," Raihan explained.

"Wow, that's great. Your first Pokémon is very special," Ash said.

"I guess," Roan said.

"Are you nervous?" Asked Ash.

"A little," Roan replied.

"Well, don't be, once you and your Pokémon become one, and everything will be great," Ash said.

Roan looked at Raihan and from the look in his eyes he seemed to agree with Ash. A few minutes later Ash, Pikachu, Roan and Raihan arrived at Professor Magnolia's lab and went inside. Once they were inside the encountered a man in a lab coat.

"Are you Professor Magnolia? Roan asked the man in the lab coat.

The man turned around and looked at Roan? "No, I'm Professor Cerise," Prof. Cerise said. "Why are you looking for Professor Magnolia?"

"I'm Roan and I'm here for my first Pokémon," Roan answered.

"Oh so you're Roan, it's nice to meet you," Prof. Cerise said, reaching out his hand to Roan.

"You too," Roan said shaking Professor Cerise's had.

"And who are you young man?" Asked Prof. Cerise.

"I'm Ash Ketchum, from Pallet Town," Ash answered.

"Oh yes, Professor Oak's pupil", Prof. Cerise said.

"Yeah, sort of," Ash replied, rubbing the back of his neck

"What a cute Pikachu, Prof. Cerise said, walking over to Pikachu and looking at him.

"Pika," A blushing Pikachu squeaked, feeling flattered by the compliment.

"And you don't need any introduction, You're Raihan, the Hammerlocke Gym Leader," Prof. Cerise said.

"That's right," Raihan said shaking the Professor's hand

"I saw you at the championships ten years ago, You were good," Prof. Cerise

"Thank you Professor Cerise," Raihan said.

"If you follow me, I'll take you to Professor Magnolia," Prof. Cerise said.

Professor Cerise started walking and the rest followed him. Ash and Roan looked around at the lab.

"Say a Professor Cerise, what is your job in the lab exactly?" A curious Ash asked.

"I mainly deal with the mythical and legends that there are in Galar, Prof. Cerise explained. But when I'm not busy with my research I'm busy with my family.

"You have a family?" Roan asked.

"Yes, two children, a son and a daughter," Prof. Cerise replied. "My daughter is of your age, my son is a little younger."

"What is your daughter's name?" Roan asked.

"Her name is Chloe," Prof. Cerise said.

"Is she a Pokémon trainer, too?" Ash asked.

"Not yet, I mean she has a Pokémon partner, but she says she's not ready to go on a trip yet," Prof. Cerise explained.

"I think she will when she's ready," Raihan said.

"I hope so, too. Not that I want Chloe out of the house, she's so smart and if she stays here she'll hold herself back from becoming a fantabulous trainer," Prof. Cerise said.

Roan had a knot in his stomach. On the one hand, he was glad he was going on a Pokémon journey, but on the other, he would prefer to stay in his room and play video games.

"We're here," Prof. Cerise said, entering a room.

"Ah Professor Cerise, on what pleasure do deserve this visit?" Asked an elderly looking a lady.

"I've brought Roan here for you Professor Magnolia, the new trainer," Prof. Cerise said.

"So you're Roan," Prof. Magnolia concluded.

"Yes, ma'am, I'm," Roan replied.

"Please don't call me ma'am I'll feel even older than I really am, Just say Professor Magnolia," said Prof. Magnolia

"Hello, Professor Magnolia, I'm Ash from Pallet Town," Ash said, introducing himself to the professor.

"Pika Pika," squeaked Pikachu.

"And this is my partner Pikachu," Ash said.

"Oh what a beautiful and healthy looking Pikachu," Prof. Magnolia said.

"Thank you very much," Ash said.

"Oh yes, now I remember, Professor Oak spoke to me about you," Prof. Magnolia said.

"He said when I arrived I should give you his regards," Ash said.

"That's sweet, When you speak to him give him my regards back," Prof. Magnolia said.

"I will, ma'am. I mean Professor Magnolia," Ash said.

"Let's get back to business, Roan you're about to choose your first Pokémon, are you ready?" Prof. Magnolia asked.

"I think so, Roan said.

Profesor Magnolia smiled sweetly and walked over to a table where there were three Pokéballs. Profesor Magonlia picked up the Pokéballs and threw them in the air and out of the Pokéballs came a Grookey, a Scorbunny and a Sobble.

"You can choose out these three Pokémon," Prof. Magnolia explained. "Grookey a Grass-Type."

"Grookey," squeaked Grookey, hitting the table with his branch.

"Scorbunny a Fire-type," Prof. Magnolia said.

"Scorbunny," squeaked Scorbunny as it jumped up and down with a big smile on its face.

"And this is Sobble a Water-Type," Prof. Magnolia said.

"Sobble," Sobble cried as it tried to hide behind Scorbunny,

"They're all so cute looking," Roan said.

"Do you know which one you want as your partner yet?" Prof. Magnolia asked.

Roan took another good look at the three starter Pokémon and a smile appeared on his face.

"I choose Scorbunny," Roan said.

"Scor," squeaked the fire rabgit, in delight and he started jumping up and down again but much then before.

"Excellent choice," Prof. Magnolia said.

Profesor Mangolia retrieved Grookey and Sobble back into their Pokéballs and put them away. Scorbunny was also taken back into his Pokéball and the profesor handed it to Roan, along with 5 more Pokéballs.

"Here you go, you can use these to catch even more Pokémon during your trip," Prof. Magnolia explained.

"Thank you Professor," Roan said.

"If you give me your Rotom-Phone, I can upload the Pokédex on it," Prof. Magnolia said.

Roan took his Rotom-Phone out of his pocket and handed it to Profesor Mangelia. She walked over to the computer and uploaded the Pokédex onto it. The Professor grabbed another Rotom-Phone from her drawer and walked back to Ash and Roan, gave Roan his Rotom-Phone back and handed the other to Ash.

"Thank you Professor Magnolia," said the two boys in unison.

"Good luck to you both," Prof. Magnolia said.

Ash, Roan and Raihan left the lab and left back to the car. Raihan grabbed a bag from the back and gave it to Roan.

"Here in this bag is everything you need for your journey," Raihan said.

"Thank you Raihan," Roan said.

"Good luck on your journey little bro," Raihan said.

Roan dropped the bag on the ground and gave his brother a hug goodbye. Roan and Raihan let go of each other and Raihan walked towards car and got in. Raihan started the car, but before he drove off he stuck his head out the window and looked at Roan.

"I know you do this Roan, I believe in you," Raihan said, encouraging his little brother.

"Thank you big bro," Roan said.

Raihan gave a thumbs up and drove off. Roan watched the car drive further and further away. Roan picked up the bag from the ground and put it on, he turned around and saw that Ash was still there.

"My journey is really about to begin now," Roan said.

"Yes, but your brother believes in and so should you," Ash encouraged.

"Yeah, I should," Roan said.

"And hey if you're nervous we can also travel together," Ash suggested.

"You and me?" Roan said.

"Yes, it's always much more fun to travel with other people," Ash said.

"I don't mind, it's nicer than going it alone anyway," Roan said.

"Do you have a destination yet?" Ash said.

"No," Roan answered. "What about you?"

"Well, I'd like to enter the Galar league so I need gym badges," Ash said. "You wouldn't happen to know where the nearest gym is?"

"Let me check," Roan said.

Roan picked up his Rotom-Phone and looked up where the nearest gym would be. Ash stood next to him and looked at the screen.

"From here, the Motostoke the closet city with a gym," Roan read of his phone.

"Shall we go there then?" Ash suggested.

"Okay," Roan said.

"Alright Motostoke here we come!" Ash cheered.

"Pika Pika!" Squeaked Pikachu, cheering along with his best buddy.

Ash and Roan left and were now on their way to Motostoke. A new adventure awaited our heroes.

But where Ash and Pikachu are, Team Rocket is not far away. Team Rocket had followed Ash to the Galar Region with their balloon. And the evil trio was right behind him and they watched him and his new traveling companion Roan.
