Our heroes have finally arrived in Turffield for Ash his Gym Challenge.
"We are finally here," Roan said.
"Turffield," Chloe said.
"And this is where I'm going to win my first badge," Ash said.
"Pika, Pikachu!" Pikachu cheered.
"Yamp, Yamper," barked a Yamper.
Ash, Roan and Chloe turned and saw Yamper standing on a hill.
"Yamper what are you doing there?" Roan asked.
"But that's not my Yamper, my Yamper is here," Chloe said.
"Yamp," Yamper barked.
The Yamper came running down the hill and headed toward Chloe's Yamper, the two Yamper's cut each other and then both got a wide smile on a face and started playing with each other.
"I think they know each other," Ash said.
"That Yamper looks familiar to me," Chloe said.
"Don't all Yamper's look alike?" Roan asked.
"They do, but this one has something special," Chloe said.
"What makes this one different?" Roan asked.
Chloe thought hard and then she knew where she knew other Yamper from. "Koda and Suki," Chloe said.
"Who?" Ash asked.
"My parents' Boltund's, Yamper's parents, this Yamper is also from their litter," Chloe explained.
"Are you sure?" Roan asked.
"Very sure, this is one of Yamper's brothers," Chloe said.
"What happened to the rest of Yamper's siblings?" Ash asked.
"We gave those away to trainers, but I know who the trainer is of this Yamper," Chloe said.
"Who is that?" Ash asked.
But before Chloe could answer that, the Yamper was called by someone. "Cookie!" Said a voice.
Everyone turned around and saw a young woman with coming walking up, she had fair skin, young woman with fair skin, peach hair in a large ponytail, and turquoise eyes. The young woman wore a tan-colored trench coat with four buttons, a teal blouse, and light blue skinny jeans.
"There you are Cookie, you can't just walk away, "the woman said.
"Yamp," barked Cookie.
The young woman looked at Chloe's Yamper. "So did you make a new friend?" She asked.
"Yamper," Cookie barked.
"Sonia," Chloe said.
"Yes," Sonia said, she took a closer look at Chloe and seemed to recognize her too. "Chloe is that you?"
"I knew it, I knew this Yamper belonged to you," Chloe said.
"You know each other?" Ash asked.
"Sonia is Professor Magnolia's granddaughter and she works with my father, Chloe explained.
"Nice to meet you, Ash said.
"Hi, Roan said.
"You're Raihan's little brother, right?" Sonia asked.
"Yeah, how do you know?" Roan asked.
"I'm an old friend of your brother's, you look a lot like him when he was younger," Sonia said.
"Oh, you're that Sonia who traveled with my brother and Leon?" Roan asked.
"The one and only," Sonia said.
"My brother has a picture with the three of you hanging in his room," Rona said.
"I did see you a few times before but you were so small then that you won't remember," Sonia said.
"Know the name, but forgot the face," Roan said.
"Did you also participated the League?" Ash asked.
"Yes, I lost to Raihan in the quarterfinals," Sonia explained.
"Sorry you lost," Ash said.
"On the one hand I was sad I lost and on the other I wasn't, I had already decided that I wanted to be a research professor," Sonia said.
"How are you doing?" Chloe asked.
"Fine, I'm fine," Sonia replied.
"Looks like that the Yamper brothers are happy to see each other again," Roan said.
"Let's have a drink, my treat," Sonia said.
"Okay," Chloe said.
Ash, Roan and Chloe went with Sonia to the local café and started to talk.
"So you're from the Kanto region, Ash?" Sonia asked.
"That's right, I'm here to compete in the Galar League," Ash said.
"What about you guys?" Sonia asked.
"I'm still figuring out what I want," Roan said.
"Maybe a professor like my dad, but in a different field," Chloe said.
"It's good that you're traveling Chloe, you're a smart girl, you should see the world," Sonia said.
"Thank you, Chloe said.
"Why you're on this journey by foot, What happened to the bike I gave you for your birthday?" Sonia asked.
"Well, you see...," Chloe said.
"Pika," Pikachu squeaked in shame.
Chloe explained to Sonia about the day she was attacked by a group of Pidove and Tranquill and that Ash and Roan had saved her, but that they were also attacked by the an Unfezant that was lieder and that Pikachu had electrocuted him and with it her bike by mistake.
"Still sorry about that," Ash said.
"It was an accident," Chloe said.
"The important thing is that you are safe and traveling with friends is much more fun than traveling alone," Sonia said.
"Yamp, Yamp," Cookie barked.
"Yes, Cookie, you get my cookie," Sonia said.
Sonia gave her cookie to her Yamper.
"Sonia, why is your Yamper named Cookie?" Ash asked.
"Because he loves cookies," Sonia explained.
"That was even before Sonia became his trainer, when cookies were baked at our house, he would sit in front of the oven and drool at the mere smell of it," Chloe said.
"That's why he is named Cookie," Sonia said.
"Sonia, what are you doing here in Turffield?" Roan asked.
"I'm here for my research," Sonia said.
"What kind of research?" Asked Ash.
"It has to do with what my grandmother is studying and Chloe's father," Sonia explained.
"Professor Magnolia is studying Dynamaxing," Chloe said.
"And didn't your dad study something to do with myths and legends, Chloe?" Roan asked.
"That's right," Chloe answered.
"But how can you be here for both?" Ash asked.
"It all has to do with the Darkest Day," Sonia explained.
"The darkest day?" Ash asked.
"Don't you remember that, Ash? The story of the statue in the Budew Drop Inn," Chloe said.
"Oh yes, I remember that," Ash said.
"What's the story that goes around here?" Roan asked.
"A long time ago...a great black storm covered the Galar region. Giant Pokémon ran rampant," Sonia said.
"But how does it connect to Dynamax?" Chloe asked.
"Come with me and I'll show you," Sonia said.
Ash, Roan and Chloe got up and followed Sonia out of the café. But where our heroes are Team Rocket is not far from them, they had also heard Sonia's story and that had certainly piqued their interest.
"Interesting," James said.
"Very interesting," Jessie said.
"We need to know more about this," James said.
"I say we follow the twerps and that professor's assistant and so we can find out what they know," Meowth said.
"But we have to do this quietly and without them noticing us," Jessie said.
Ash, Roan and Chloe had followed Sonia to a large place that overlooked a large grass field with an interesting looking geoglyph in it.
"Whoa," Ash said.
"Pika," Pikachu squeaked.
"Is this it Sonia?" Chloe asked.
"Yes," Sonia said.
"It looks like a Pokémon," Roan said.
"In a Dynamax or Gigantamax form," Sonia said.
"Do you know which Pokémon it is Sonia?" Chloe asked.
"No, Researchers have been trying to find out for years," Sonia said.
"What exactly is your plan?" Ash asked.
"I got permission from the mayor to go into the field, so that's what I'm going to do tomorrow," Sonia said.
"Do you think it can give the answers about how the Darkest Day and Dynamax are connected?" Roan asked.
"I hope so, but as I said many researchers are trying to find out," Sonia said.
"Those two are greatest mysteries of Galar," Chloe said.
"But nowadays we have better technology, so with any luck you'll find a little something," Roan said.
"And that little something is something big for this mystery," Sonia said.
"I hope you find something," Chloe said.
"Why don't you guys join me in the field tomorrow?" Suggested Sonia.
"You want us to come with you?" Ash asked.
"Yes, you are interested, good trainers and all help is welcome," Sonia.
"I'm in," Chloe said.
"Cool," Roan said.
"I can't wait till tomorrow," Ash said.
"Pika, pika," Pikachu squeaked.
"Are you staying at the Pokémon Center?" Sonia asked.
"Yes," Roan said.
"Okay, early tomorrow morning at the entrance, I'll wait for you there," Sonia said.
"Alright Sonia," Ash said.
"Uh, guys we say we're staying at the Pokémon Center, but we haven't booked a room yet," Chloe said.
"We completely forgot," Roan said.
"Hurry to the Pokémon Center," Ash said.
Ash, Roan and Chloe rushed to the Pokémon Center. Sonia and Cookie also walked back to town. Team Rocket came from their hiding spot and walked toward the spot and looked out over the grass field.
"What do you think is down there?" James asked.
"The key to success for Team Rocket," Meowth said.
"What do you mean?" Jessie asked.
Team Rocket Fantasy:
Meowth: Imagine if we the members of Team Rocket found out what this Pokémon is, something researchers have been trying to do for years. We get all the glory, giving Team Rocket glory, which is good for business. So good, in fact, that the boss can start a Team Rocket organization in Galar. And he's so happy about that that he says;
Giovanni: Thanks to Meowth and his friends, Team Rocket is now even bigger and I'm richer, I'm so grateful to them that I let them become the head of the Team Rocket Galar organization.
"Promotion!" Jessie cheered.
"We're the boss of our own Team Rocket organization," Jessie said.
"That's a dream come true," Meowth said.
"Wobbuffet!" Wobbufet cried as he popped out of his Pokéball.
A few hours later, Ash, Roan and Chloe were sitting in their room at the Pokémon Center.
"I'm so excited for tomorrow," Roan said.
"Me too, who knows what we might find, this is really a dream come true for me," Chloe said.
"A chance to learn more about Dynamaxing, that's amazing," Ash said.
"Still wondering how the two are connected? What does the Darkest Day have to do with Dynamaxing?" Roan asked.
"Maybe we'll find out tomorrow," Chloe said.
"I'll want to find out what Pokémon are graved in the grass field," Ash said.
"Me too," Roan said.
Let's get some sleep, we have to be up early tomorrow," Chloe said.
"Good night you guys," Roan said.
"Good night Roan," Ash and Chloe said.
Chloe turned off the lights and got into bed and fell asleep quickly. Ash was still lying awake, he turned to Pikachu.
"Are you also excited what we might find tomorrow?" Ash asked.
Pikachu nodded his head. "Pika," Pikachu squeaked.
"Sleep well Pikachu," Ash said.
"Pika, pika," Pikachu squeaked.
Ash and Pikachu closed their eyes and fell asleep. While our heroes were sleeping, Team Rocket headed towards the place, but they were not the only ones there, the people dressed in knight costumes were also there.
"Who are you guys?" Grunt nr. 1 said.
"Prepare for trouble!" Jessie said.
"And make it double!" James said.
"To protect the world from devastation!" Jessie said.
"To unite all people within our nation!" James said.
"To denounce the evils of truth and love!" Jessie said.
"To extend our reach to the stars above!" James said.
"Jessie!" Jessie said.
"And James!" James said.
"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!" Jessie said.
"Surrender now or prepare for a fight!" James said.
"Meowth! That's right!" Meowth said.
"And who are you guys?" James asked.
"We are from Team Doom, and now please leave, you are disrupting our mission,' Grunt nr. 2 said.
"Listen little knights, we also have a mission and you are in our way," Jessie said.
"So you can leave without any trouble," Meowth said.
"Or we'll make you leave," James said.
"We're not leaving," Grunt nr. 2 said.
Jessie grabbed her Pokéball. "Then we'll take care of that now, Go Hatenna!" She said, as she summoned Hatenna.
"Hatenna!" Hatenna cried.
Grunt nr. 1 grabbed a Pokéball and threw it. "Go, Zigzagoon," he said.
"Zigzagoon," Zigzagoon cried.
"Is that a Zigzagoon?" James asked.
"But not the kind we know," Meowth said.
"This is a Galarian Zigzagoon," Grunt nr. 1 said.
"I don't care where this Zigzagoon comes from, I'm gonna get it. Now Hatenna, PSYBEAM!" Jessie commanded.
"Hatenna!" Hatenna cried.
Hatenna used her attack on the Zigzagoon but it had no effect.
"Hey how is that possible?" Jessie asked.
"That was a Psychic attack, it has no effect on a Dark type like Zigzagoon," Grunt nr. 1 explained.
"Lesson learned Galarian Zigzagoon is a Dark type," James said.
"Zigzagoon use SNARL!" Grunt nr. 1 commanded.
"Zigzagoon!" Zigzagoon cried.
Zigzagoon used his attack against Hatenna and she was blown away and Jessie caught her in her arms.
"Hatenna?" Jessie asked.
"Hat," Hatenna cried.
Hatenna was knocked out. The other grunt from Team Doom, also grabbed a Pokéball and summoned his Zigzagoon as well.
"Now get away," Grunt nr. 2 said.
"We're not afraid of you," James said.
James was about to grab Cramorant's Pokéball, but Team Doom's Zigzagoon were about to attack.
"Use SNARL!" The two grunts commanded.
The two Zigzagoon used their Snarl attack on Team Rocket and the trio was shot into the air.
"This is so humiliating, blasted off by two Zigzagoon!" Jessie said.
"It's not fair, I didn't even get a chance to attack,' James said.
"So here we go again!" Meowth said.
"We're blasting off again!" Yelled the Team Rocket trio.
Team Rocket vanished into thin air. And the Team Grunts called back their Zigzagoon
"We have to move on, thanks to those three idiots we are now behind schedule," said Grunt nr. 1.
"Mission is back on," Grunt nr. 2 said.
The two grunts opened the cases and began to assemble a small machine, when they were done one of the grunts grabbed a remote control and turned on the machine, the propellers of the machine.
"Scanner 1 was activated," Grunt nr. 2 said.
"Scanner 1 ready to scan the north side," Grunt nr. 1 said.
"Scanner 1 is ready for take-off," Grunt nr. 2 said.
The scanner flew towards the grass field, the two grunts looked at the computer monitor as data came in.
"Scans are being made," Grunt nr. 1 said.
"Begin preparations for scanner 2, which will scan the east side," Grunt nr. 2 said.
The two grunts grabbed another case and began making a new scanner.
The next morning Ash, Roan and Chloe were awake early and stood at the reception desk of the Pokémon center waiting for Sonia. Sonia walked into the Pokémon center a few minutes later and went straight to the front desk.
"Good morning everyone," Sonia said.
"Good morning Sonia," Ash, Roan and Chloe said.
"Are you guys ready?" Sonia asked.
"Totally," Roan said.
"I'm ready," Chloe said.
"Let's go," Ash said.
"Pika, Pikachu!" Pikachu squeaked.
Ash, Roan, Chloe and Sonia left the Pokémon center and walked toward the grass field. Ash, Roan, Chloe and Sonia arrived at the grass field.
"What exactly is your plan Sonia?" Chloe asked.
"I'm going to start scanning the area, see if I measure anything special," Sonia said.
"How are you going to do that?" Ash asked.
"I have a special device for that," Sonia explained.
"Cool," Roan said.
"I would also like view from the sky, I do have a camera for that, just not a flying device," Sonia said.
"I know how to do that," Ash said, as he grabbed a Pokéball from his pocket. "Rookidee, I choose you!"
Ash threw Rookidee's Pokéball and Rookidee appeared.
"Rookidee!" Rookidee chirped.
"You can attach the camera to Rookidee and then he can fly through the air above the field," Ash said.
"That's a good idea," Sonia said.
"Rookidee would you like to help us?" Ash asked.
Rookidee used his wing to salute and nodded his head. "Rookidee," Rookidee chirped.
"That's great," Ash said.
Sonia grabbed the mini camera out of her bag, Ash put Rookidee on his arm, Sonia attached the camera to Rookidee and turned it on. Rookidee flew away, Sonia grabbed a laptop from her bag and turned it on.
"It works, look we have footage," Sonia said.
"So now we can see where Rookidee is flying and see what he sees," Chloe said.
"And the footage is automatically saved, that way I can study them later," Sonia said.
"The wonders of technology," Ash said.
"Pika," Pikachu squeaked.
"Chloe would you hold my laptop and look at the images? While I use the scanner," Sonia said.
"No problem, 'll do that," Chloe said.
Sonia handed her laptop to Chloe and took the scanner from her bag and the foursome walked further into the grass field. And half an hour later they were still walking through the grass field.
"Has the scanner picked up anything, Sonia?" Roan asked.
"No, nothing special yet," Sonia said. "How does the footage looks, Chloe?"
"Footage looks good. I don't see anything unusual," Chloe said.
Ash and Pikachu looked around, suddenly Pikachu saw something lying on the ground, he jumped off Ash shoulder and ran towards it. Ash and the rest walked over to Pikachu to see what he had found.
"What have you got there Pikachu?" Ash asked.
"Pika, pika," Pikachu squeaked.
Ash picked up the device of the ground and held it up. "What's this?" Ash asked.
"It looks like some kind of device," Roan said.
"But that's not one of mine," Sonia said.
"Guys you need to see this," Chloe said.
Ash, Roan and Sonia walked up to Chloe and looked at the laptop screen from and saw the two grunts from Team Doom walking through the field.
"Who are they?" Roan asked.
"No idea, but I have no do feeling about those two," Ash said.
"Neither do I," Chloe said.
"Think that device is theirs?" Roan asked.
"We're going to find out," Sonia said.
Ash, Roan, Chloe and Sonia walked toward where Team Doom's grunts were.
"Are those two still in the same place Chloe?" Sonia asked.
"I can still see them on the screen," Chloe said.
"Rookidee probably sensed that something was wrong with those two and is staying near them," Ash said.
"That Rookidee of yours is very smart and has good instincts," Sonia said.
The foursome arrived at where the grunts were and looked among the grass to see what they were doing.
"They were wearing some kind of knight rear uniform," Roan said.
"They must be from some organization or something," Chloe said.
"Like I said I got a bad feeling about these two," Ash said.
"Yamper," barked Cookie as he started to run towards the grunts.
"No, Cookie, come back," Sonia said.
But it was too late," Cookie ran up to the grunts and started barking at them.
"A Yamper?" Grunt nr. 1 said.
"Get lost," Grunt nr. 2 said.
Cookie looked intimidated as the grunts pulled out their Pokéballs. Sonia came ach er out of the grass and ran toward Cookie. Ash, Roan and Chloe also came out from behind the grass and ran after Sonia. Rookidee flew down and landed on Ash's head.
"Cookie!" Shouted Sonia.
"Leave him alone!" Chloe said.
"Who are you guys?" Roan asked.
"We are from Team Doom," the grunts said.
"Team Doom", Ash said.
"I don't care who you are, you don't have permission to be here," Chloe said.
"We have a mission and we won't let anyone stop it. Go Zigzagoon!" Grunt nr. 2 said.
The other grunt also threw his Pokéball. "Zigzagoon make sure they leave!"
"A Zigzagoon," Roan said.
"I've never seen a Zigzagoon looking like that before," Ash said.
"Pika," Pikachu squeaked.
Ash grabbed his Rotom-Phone and opened his Pokédex app.
Zigzagoon, Galarian Form. The Tiny Raccoon Pokémon. A Dark and Normal type. Zigzagoon runs in a zigzag pattern, wreaking havoc everywhere.
The grunts' two Zigzagoon used their Snarl to attack Yamper and his little brother.
"Oh no, Yamper!" Chloe yelled.
"Cookie!" Sonia yelled.
Both Yamper and Cookie were knocked out by the attack.
"Pikachu go and stop the Zigzagoon," Ash said.
"Pika," Pikachu squeaked.
"QUICK ATTACK!" Ash commanded.
Pikachu ran towards the two Zigzagoon, without an order from their trainers the Zigzagoon evaded Pikachu's attack. And this they also used their Snarl attack again and Pikachu was knocked into the air
"Pika," Pikachu cried.
"Pikachu!" Ash shouted, as he caught Pikachu in his arms.
"Hey, two against one, isn't fair, I'll teach you," Roan said, as he grabbed Scorbunny's Pokéball.
"Ready to help too Rookidee?" Ash asked.
"Rook," Rookidee chirped.
"Leave these two to me," Sonia said.
Sonia stepped forward and took a Pokéball from her bag and looked at it for a few seconds.
"I know it's been a while, but I need your help," Sonia said. "Blastoise, it's your time now!"
Sonia threw her Pokéball and a strong-looking Blastoise appeared.
"Blastoise!" Blastoise cried.
"Wow a Blaistoise!" Chloe said, as she grabbed her Rotom-Phone to use the Podex-app.
Blastoise, the Shellfish Pokémon. Blastoise is the final evolved form of Squirtle. It can launch powerful blasts of water from its water spouts.
"Zigzagoon attack that Blastoise!" The grunts said.
The two Zigzagoon went at Blaistose, but he just stood still and didn't move.
"Blastoise HYDRO CANON!" Sonia commanded.
"Blastoise!" Blastoise cried.
Blatoise aimed his cannons at the the Zigzagoon and fired his attack. The two Zigzagoon were hit and blown away, they fell to the ground and were knocked out, the two grunts called them back into their Pokéballs.
"Wow," Roan said.
"With one attack, Blastoise was able to knock out two Pokémon," Chloe said.
"It's understandable she got this far in the Pokémon League," Ash said.
"What next?" Grunt nr. 2 asked.
"The mission is already accomplished, we have all the data we need anyway," Grunt nr. 1 said.
The two grunts threw smoke bombs onto the field and the field filled with black smoke. When the smoke cleared, the two grunts were gone.
"They were gone," Roan said.
"Why were they here?" Ash asked.
"Maybe for the same reason as we are," Chloe guessed.
Sonia walked over to her Blastoise and put her hand on his shoulder. "Thank you, my friend," Sonia said.
"Blastoise," Blastoise cried.
Sonia called Blastoise back to his Pokéball and Ash put Rookidee back in Pokéball as well, then the foursome returned to the Pokémon center. A few moments later, Pikachu, Yamper and Cookie had fully recovered.
"Thank you all for your help," Sonia said.
"We should be thanking you," Ash said.
"And your Blastoise," Roan said.
"What are you going to do now Sonia?" Chloe said.
"I'm going back to the field for my research," Sonia said.
"Good luck, Sonia," Ash said.
"Thank you," Sonia said. "And Ash, good luck with your Gym Challenge against Milo."
"Thank you," Ash said.
And with that, our heroes say goodbye to Sonia and Cookie. How will Ash's Gym Challenge go.
Meanwhile...
Team Rocket was stuck in a very tall tree and they had been stuck in it since they were blasted away by Team Doom.
"How long have we been stuck here?" James asked.
"I don't know how many hours, I just know that that's a very long time, Meowth said.
"I swear to you, I will get revenge on Team Doom," Jessie said.
"Team Rocket's revenge!" James said.
"Yes," Meowth said.
Wobbuffet popped out his Pokéball. "Wobbuffet," he cried.
The branch was getting to heavy, Team Rocket could hear the sound of breaking and the branch broke off and Team Rocket fell screaming from the tree.
"We're falling out of a tree!" Screamed the Team Rocket trio.
"Wobbuffet!" Wobbuffet cried.
