Prologue: A Fond Farewell

"Alright…" A man clad from head-to-toe in silver armor themed after a dragon with feather aesthetics spoke softly as he finished applying the final touches of a ritual circle made from silver. "How are we looking, Caster?"

"We should be good to go, Master. All that it requires is…" Caster paused before the armored man noticed what they were looking at. Several pedestals that held floating rings of varying color.

"Right. My Emblem Rings. Then I speak the incantation and hopefully it should hold that big, scaly bastard in place." The man stated. "Man, Lumera is gonna kill me…"

"It's your choice to begin with after all." Caster answered. "What concerns me is the fact that you chose not to tell her."

"Because if I told her, she would've killed me." The man answered.

"What's the logic behind that?"

"I am terrified yet attracted to women that can, quite literally, roast my ass."

"Taste preferences aside, this plan is risky even for you." Caster remarked dryly. "You're sure you want to go through with this?"

"Nope, I am beyond terrified, but I've got no choice but to do it." The armored man fingers a silver ring with blue oriental markings and a pink gemstone. "Ready?"

"Very well. Let us begin." Caster nodded, before turning into energy and disappearing into the ring.

The man takes off the ring on his left hand and places it on a pedestal that was empty, watching as it floated like the others. He stepped into the center of the circle even as the area around him began to rumble. "It's time…" He exhaled deeply.

He then spread his arms and began floating in the air, with his rings.

"In the name of the Root, I pay this tribute."

"By the Will of the World, I offer my soul."

"Through the power of 10 Heroes, I unite as one."

"Through this sacrifice, I evoke the forbidden spell."

"Dimension Binding!"

The rings from the pedestals released great pillars of blue light, sending the energy to the sky as the ritual circle turned blue as well while a dark violet aura surrounded the armored man's body, causing him to groan in pain.

While writhing in pain, he could hear the sound of a dragon roaring in anger. The spell was working!

"You feel that you bastard?" The knight called out. "That's me, giving you the biggest middle finger in the world! So bring. Your. Ass. HERE!"

The pillars of light suddenly dragged something from the sky, revealing a large dark-scaled creature that looked like a cross between a dragon and a king cobra. A pair of glowing red eyes glared hatefully at the knight.

"YOU!"

"Me." The knight said casually even as the pain of the ritual wrecked his insides.

"I should have devoured you the first time we met on the battlefield!" The dark dragon roared as he struggled to escape his bindings.

"And now you're paying for it. But, the good news is, you won't have to worry about these chains any longer." The knight mocked the dragon. "Unfortunately, the bad news for you comes in the form of my girl using the power of the Emblems to beat you instead."

"You wouldn't dare!"

"Oh, I dare." The knight said. "And guess what? Your Emblem won't be coming back to save you."

"You will pay for this! I will destroy you, interloper!"

"Yeah, but not today. Lumera!" The knight called out.

A loud roar tore through the air before another dragon, this one with scales as white as snow landed on the dark dragon, sending him to the ground.

"It's over, Sombron! No longer will your evil corrupt Elyos!" The white dragon, Lumera, cried out.

"NO! I WILL NOT BE STOPPED!" Sombron roared.

"Too late for that. Let's end this!" The knight declared. "Lumera, do it now!"

"Farewell, Sombron! May you never meddle with our home ever again!" Lumera declared before rearing her head and spewing out her white flames.

Sombron roared in pain and rage as the white flames began to consume his form. As this happens, a blinding blue and red light engulfed the Fell Dragon until he disappeared into motes of violet smoke.

"Hehe…glad that's done." The knight said as he ended the Dimension Binding spell. Then he felt the strength in his legs start to give out and he fell to the ground.

"Beloved!" Lumera cried out as the white dragon shrunk down and turned into a beautiful human woman with long bright blue hair, crystal blue eyes, and a perfect figure while dressed in a white-gold dress fit for nobility. She ran over to the fallen knight, dropping to her knees to cradle his form.

"Heh, you're wearing that dress. Still as beautiful as the day we met…" The knight wheezed before coughing repeatedly.

"Beloved, please, hang on! I'll-"

"Don't…" The knight shook his head. "The spell I did to bind Sombron, required my life force…"

Lumera's eyes widened in horror. "W-What? Why would you-"

"If I hadn't, you wouldn't have been able to seal Sombron. I had to make a choice." The knight explained. "My life…for an entire continent of innocent people. Wasn't really a choice."

"No… no, no! You can't leave me!" Lumera sobbed, tears going down her eyes. "We were supposed to live our days in happiness! We were supposed to start a family, grow old together, and-"

"Hehe… you and I both know that I would have died long before you did. I'm only human, after all."

"But-"

"Besides," The knight placed a weakened hand on Lumera's cheek. "For all the time in the world, I would give my entire life just to spend it with you. That is something I can never regret. For loving you and being your hero."

"Beloved…"

"One more thing… the Servant Rings…" He spoke. "While they and the Emblem Rings hold the power to bind Sombron, it won't last long… that's why… you must seek out those from my world. Summon them here and have them bond with the Servants. If and when those chains break, when their bonds are strong enough, they can bind Sombron again- *COUGH! COUGH! COUGH!*"

Specks of blood flicked out from the mouthguard of the helmet. Thankfully, not getting onto Lumera.

"This isn't fair…" Lumera sobbed. "This wasn't supposed to happen."

"Hey…" The knight croaked. "...I know…this hurts…but when the time comes, you'll see me again. After all, you won't be alone. You still…have your child sleeping up on the island."

"And yours." Lumera whimpered.

"W-What?"

"I'm with child." Lumera admitted, taking the knight's hand and placing it on her stomach. "Your child."

The knight was flabbergasted for a second before he began to chuckle weakly. "Of all…the rotten luck… I sacrifice my life…and I find out I'm a father? Heh, that's just not fair." His voice quivered. "W-Well… let me at least name our kid before I kick the bucket…"

Lumera nodded, giving the dying knight a watery smile despite the tears streaming down her face. "Of course…I got to name my adopted child. Only fair that you can."

"Heh…" The man snickered for a bit before gathering his breath. "If it's a boy… I was thinking of the name Aiden. If it's a girl, I'm thinking of Lumina. What do you think?"

"I think… they're wonderful names…" Lumera smiled sadly. "I will love our child for every single moment. And I will tell your children and their children about you…"

"Thank you…and, if possible," The knight glanced at the sleeping rings of the Servants. "Could you give the other countries a ring or two for protection? I want…to be sure that the Emblems and the Servants can be safe in the future."

"I will be sure to do that." Lumera nodded.

"Good… now I can finally…" The knight said, before tilting his head away with eyes closed and a smile gracing his lips.

Lumera's cries grew louder before she hugged the body of the man, she loved close to her chest, crying with a broken heart and at the loss of her future child's father.

Following the end of the Fell War and the Fell Dragon's defeat, the Divine Dragon Lumera gave the fallen knight a hero's funeral.

Honoring his final request, Lumera met with the leaders of all four nations and divided the Emblem and Servant Rings. Two of each would be given to Firene, Brodia, Solm, and Elusia. While the remaining rings would be in the care of Lythos.

The leaders of the four nations honored the Divine Dragon's request, accepting this duty with humility.

Then the day came when Lumera gave birth to a child. Or rather, she had given birth to twins. A crossbreed between a human and a dragon. A boy named Aiden who grew up to be a hero just like his father and even provided aid to the Stewards watching over his sleeping elder sibling within the Somniel. And a girl named Lumina, who had grown to be just as beautiful as her mother but carried the same courageous heart as her father, joining her brother in watching over their elder sibling's slumber.

Over the centuries, Lumera watched over Elyos and her children. However, she knew that one day, Sombron would return and prepared for the day where her children and the legendary hero would rise to the occasion.
