William knew something was off when he left and did not see Louis. He tried to shake off the feeling and waited a bit longer. But still no sign of his brother. 'Something happened. I know it.' He thought, debating what to do. He had no choice but to go home or people would become suspicious. No one was supposed to know Louis had even come along. So, if he waited much longer, they may realize he and Albert hadn't come alone. Sighing he went home and sent for Fred and Moran.
"So, you three went to the house, but he didn't come out huh? If he got caught what's the chance they would hurt him?" Moran asked sipping whiskey. "I need you to get there and ask around. The Earl is leaving for a business trip. His wife will be in town shopping. And their maid, is known to do favors for money." William explained, ignoring the question. He did not want to even think about the possibility Louis was hurt. "Alright I get it. Sweet talk the maid. Pay her to let me in. Look around for Louis." Moran finished his drink. William nodded, glancing at Albert.
"If you find him. Bring him back. Even if it means using force. We would come along but are supposed to attend a party. If we don't show up, we will arouse suspicions. " Albert added as Moran grabbed his gun case and coat. "Understood." He replied leaving for the mission.
Sweet talking the maid wasn't hard. Especially when he showed some money. She gladly let him in. Didn't even ask why he needed to look around. However, her demeanor changed abruptly when he mentioned he was looking for a friend.
"His name is Louis. He said he was gonna come here and speak with your boss, but. I haven't seen him since. Any chance he still here?" Moran asked casually showing her a picture of Louis. Her face lost all color and she looked mortified. "I can't... I really shouldn't." She muttered seemingly scared of something. "What's wrong miss? You seem disturbed." He looked at her wondering what was wrong.
"He's dead. They killed him." She whispered softly. Moran's eyes widened. "Apparently he was caught trespassing, so they took him out back where they do their studies. I heard they already finished and had the other maid clean up the mess." She said looking down. "They don't know I know. If they knew. They may do to me what they did to him." She added in a trembling voice. "Are you positive they killed him?" He finally asked after a few moments of silence.
"No one can survive what I saw...I snuck in to watch out of curiosity. It looked like they were dissecting him, or even gutting him like a pig. He was still alive and awake too. They had him strapped down so he could not fight back." She whispered. "That's why I am actually leaving tonight. Before boss returns. I don't want to be the next one they experiment on." She shuddered handing him a key. "The back house area. Looks like a storage shed on outside. But is their lab where they do it. If they haven't burned the body yet he may still be there." She said softly then ran away.
Moran took the key and looked around making sure no one was there. Once positive he went to the back house storage shed. Like the maid said. It was more of a lab. Even an operation table covered in blood stains. Hard to say if old or new. Searching some more he did not find any bodies. He then checked the furnace to see if it had been used recently. It was a tad warm. And ashes and strange burned items. Some of which looked like possible bone fragments. Sighing he turned to go back home. However, as he turned to leave, he stepped on something and heard a crunch. Looking down he saw it was a pair of glasses. "Louis..." He frowned picking them up. He knew they were Louis' glasses. He took the now broken glasses and got out of there before anyone noticed. "Man, how am I supposed to tell them this..." He muttered, not looking forward to telling Albert and William about Louis' fate.
