Two days passed since 'Louis' came home. He seemed distant and kept to himself for the most part. William had asked Moran to watch over him, but to not let him know he was being watched. That way if he was an imposter and made any mistakes. Moran could alert William and Albert. "Oi Moran. Why are we spying on Louis?" Fred asked curiously, as he and Moran watched Louis through a window. The youngest Moriarty brother didn't seem to realize he was being watched and was busy writing something in a book. "Cause that ain't Louis." Moran stated. "Ah?"- "Even Albert and William doubt it. So, that is why they want us to watch over him. I told you what the maid said happened to Louis. Now do you think anyone, especially Louis of all people could survive such a thing?" Moran looked at his younger friend.
Fred looked down. "True. So, this guy, just looks like Louis?" He mumbled. "Advancements in surgery can make people look different. Someone had this guy's appearance altered to look like Louis. Makes sense. The Morris heirs work with hospitals and are on the forefront of medical advancement. My guess. They either hired this guy to spy on Albert and William to stop them from exposing Earl Morris, or worse. They plan on having this Louis faker kill Albert and William the moment they let their guard down around him." Moran explained.
"If he really is a fake. And plans on killing them. He will fail miserably." Fred stated softly, watching Louis. Louis put the small notebook into his vest pocket and went to the kitchen to make dinner for William and Albert. "Wonder what he was writing." Fred whispered. Moran merely shrugged. "Dinner will be ready soon brother William." Louis said setting the table. "Are you sure you are well enough to be working? Perhaps you should just rest for a few more days." William looked at Louis.
"I am perfectly fine. The doctors said so themselves. Besides working is better than spending all day in bed." Louis set a plate down. "Perhaps. Just don't overdo it. I don't want you sick like when you were little. Even then you refused to rest when you should have." William said, glancing at Louis to see his reaction to this statement.
"Don't be foolish brother William. I am not sick. This is different from then. And my injuries are practically fully healed now." Louis replied, causing William to frown. "Yes, indeed. I guess I was being foolish." He sighed looking down. 'I was foolish to hope you were actually Louis.' He thought to himself.
After dinner Louis cleaned up. "I need to go to town today. Buy some new clothes and I would like some fresh air as well." Louis said as he finished cleaning. "I'll come along. Need to pick up a few things myself." Albert spoke up, looking at Louis. Louis looked surprised at first but then nodded. The two got ready and used the carriage to go to town. Fred joined as well, claiming he wanted to get something for Moran since his birthday was coming up. Wasn't a lie, not entirely. He did need to buy a gift for Moran. But, also wanted to spy on Louis.
Once in town Louis went to the tailor to order some clothes, while Albert went to the jeweler. Fred sneakily watched Louis, while pretending to be looking at some gloves for Moran.
As Louis finished his order and turned to leave, he heard a strange whistle. Looking around he noticed where it was coming from and began to follow it. Fred saw this, quickly bought the gloves then followed Louis. Louis walked over to a florist shop and looked inside where a woman was gesturing for him.
Liza Morris was inside with one of the doctors who had operated on Louis over a month prior. She had been waiting for an opportunity to speak with this Louis and seeing him at the tailor was able to lure him away with her whistle. Fred's eyes widened recognizing her as one of the people Albert and William were hunting. "Louis, I am pleased to see you out and about." She smiled and pointed to a chair for him to sit. At first, he seemed to hesitate, but he silently obeyed and sat down.
'Proof he really is working for the Morris family. I will have to alert the others so they can get rid of him before he hurts any of us.' Fred thought, frowning. "Seems you fulfilled your usefulness after all." Liza smirked. "You managed to help lure William here." She added. Fred was confused until he saw what she meant. A man was leading William into the room at gunpoint. "Oh shit." Fred whispered then ran back to find Albert.
