It was a quiet night in the city of metropolis, as was customary for me and for the rest of the team we started patrolling the streets trying to find something interesting to do. Who knows what we might find, maybe a group of thieves, some monster that will have come out at night, a colossal robot, who knows to be honest was eager to fight someone.
"Elemental wizard, this is Wonder Woman. Did you find something?" Daiana would ask through a communicator that Barbara had given us.
"Here elemental magician, negative wonder woman I did not find anything in the southern sector of the city." I said while on the roof of a building after using the fire element to fly through the southern part of the city. "Tell me wonder woman, did you and Supergirl find anything?" I'd ask as I sat on the edge of the building.
"Negative elemental wizard, we couldn't find anything suspicious." Daiana would say while she was on Kara's back flying through the eastern part of the city.
"Wonder woman, Supergirl, Elemental wizard. Here Batgirl, Bumblebee and I found a group of 8 robbers at the bank in the center of town, Zatanna is on her way but I will need help from the three of you as well." Barbara would say while she was with Karen.
"Very well Batgirl, I'll go there right now." I said with emotion in my voice, at that moment I would use the fire element again but with more intensity in order to fly much faster to where Barbara had asked us to meet.
The moment I arrive at the bank, Barbara would be next to me like Karen, then Kara, zatanna and Daiana would have arrived. We were all ready to fight.
"I am ready to test my new weapon on them." I said smiling while in my hands two spheres of fire began to appear and later begin to mold with both spheres giving it the shape of a sword, when blowing the weapon a sword similar to Daiana's would be seen, only the blade was covered with a flame of blue color and the hilt was a sky blue color.
"Wow, I thought fire whips were the only weapons you could use. How could you create that sword?" Barbara would ask with starry eyes.
"Well, let's just say it was a somewhat awkward moment." I said with a shy smile as I recounted how it happened.
Flashback
I was in my meditation session to be able to have a better control of the elements, I wanted to try to expand my limit in magic, you could say that after the fight against Giganta it was very clear that I should get stronger if I wanted the next one Once you can give the fight some difficulty. Now I was controlling the fire element, Zatanna's father explained to me that to meditate on the fire element I must be surrounded by candles and be in complete silence so as not to lose concentration.
"How hot." I said mentally, it was because by meditating the fire element in closed spaces, the heat of the room will increase, almost turning my room into a sauna.
However I had to keep my eyes closed and also keep my mind in full concentration even though now I wanted to be taking a cold shower I had to stay calm.Within my mental space everything was black but around me, my entire body was surrounded by an aura of fire. At that moment I feel like something is approaching me and when I stretch my hands I feel that it is a sphere of fire, but suddenly the sphere begins to take a different shape and I would begin to feel an extra weight in my hands, when I open my eyes. I see that in my hands there is a sword of fire, when I see this I begin to stop meditating and return to the real world where the sword was still in my hands.
"This is incredible!!." I said as I began to play with the sword without realizing that the new weapon that I had in my hands increased its power as well as its fire through my emotions, at the moment I began to rotate the sword around my whole body and cut into the air would begin to feel and smell that something was burning.
"I Leave the beans on the stove?" I would ask myself, however I noticed that my whole room was burning and it was due to the fire of my new and first sword."Note to self: never play with firearms in the house again." I said with a drop of anime-style sweat running down the back of my neck.
End to Flashback.
"After that I had to spend almost all the money Sebastian gave me on repairs due to the damage my sword caused." I said shyly, the girls made a titanic effort not to laugh but Kara couldn't contain herself and she was now on the floor laughing out loud.
"Very well team, let's not lower our guard, remember that our enemies will be out soon. Get ready." Daiana would say seriously, we were all ready to fight as we got into a fighting pose.
Just at that moment we saw how the thieves came out with bags full of money, however they stopped when they noticed that we were in front of them. However, before we could attack we saw how a rapid flash passed at full speed causing us to recoil from the impression, however Barbara at the moment of jumping did not realize that now she would be in my arms, while making me carry her like a princess In the blink of an eye, we were surprised to see the thieves tied to a light sign while the red flash disappeared.
"What was that?." I ask without realizing that Barbara was still in my arms.
"I don't know what it was, but now I'll give it its due for taking the fun out of me." Kara would say something annoyed, the moment the Kryptonian girl tried to match the speed of that thing we could tell that even though she was using her maximum speed, Kara couldn't even reach that flash.
"Impressive, not even Supergirl managed to match the speed of that thing, how is it possible?" I asked something serious when I saw the situation.
"Benja, could you put me down?" Barbara would ask something embarrassed, upon hearing that I would realize that she was in my arms. Without hesitation I would put Barbara down as my face turned a deep red from embarrassment. The girls didn't know why, but they wanted to be in Barbara's place.
"All right team, better get back to base and try to figure out what we're up against." Diana would say seriously, we all nodded we also wanted to know what that red flash was.
When we got to the base, we were all thinking that it could be that thing but we were also resting, Barbara would be looking at the cameras that she had placed all over the city trying to find some indication or something that would help us.
"Barbara, did you manage to find something?" I asked while reading a Boku no hero manga.
"I've been looking at the security cameras, and believe it or not I can't know what that red flash is, I tried to slow down the video from the cameras but it's still like it's just a red dot, whatever the speed is this thing is capable of going at such a high speed that it is impossible for the cameras to show any indication if it is an unknown person or object. "Barbara would say analyzing everything.
"We have to find a way to catch that thing and find out what it is about, but none of us have enough speed to reach that flash." I said as he looked at the cameras.
"I have an idea!." We all turned to see Zatanna who had a huge smile.
"Really Zatanna? What is your idea?" Daiana would ask curiously.
"Benja, you can help us." Zatanna would say.
"Me? But Zatanna, did you see how fast that thing is going? Even I couldn't match its speed, it would be like trying to catch up to the speed of a cheetah being a slow snail." I said looking at the girl magic.
"Benja, you told us that your power is through elemental magic, right?" Zatanna asked smiling, receiving a nod from me. "Well, I think I know how we can catch that thing." she would say again.
"Are you serious?." I asked curious, Zatanna would walk to her bag and when she opened it she would take out a book starting to look for something until she would find a page that could help us.
"Years ago, magicians who could control the air were able to perform unique abilities but their most outstanding qualities were that being in complete synchronization with the air their bodies began to be much lighter than a feather giving them the ability to fly and of running at speeds that were impossible for the human eye to perceive. " Zatanna would say reading the page aloud.
"So if Benja awakens the air element, will he be able to reach that red flash and we will catch it? Sounds good, but how can we awaken that new power for our partner?" Daiana would ask as she stood next to me.
Zatanna couldn't answer as she would be trying to figure out how to awaken the element, however Kara would approach us with a smile.
"I think I have an idea." did say the Kryptonian girl get our attention. "If Benja needs to be in sync with the air in that case I think I have an idea of how to achieve that." Kara would say smiling.
"Really? What is your idea?" I asked smiling.
"Kara, I don't think this is a good idea." I said completely scared.
"Easy Benja, Zee told us that you should be in full sync with the air element so if we launch you from this height you can concentrate on trying to activate the element." Kara would say for sure.
"Can't we just talk about this? Hehehe, not that I want to not activate the element but could at least have a helmet? I asked shyly, however Kara would give me a shove in response by dropping me. For those of you wondering, we were all on top of the Lex Luthor building and it was because it was the largest building in the entire city.
"Kara, are you sure about this?" Jessica would ask very concerned, as did Karen. We held a vote in which Barbara, Kara, Daiana and I agreed to know what the Kryptonian girl's idea would be, however when she told us that her idea was to throw me out of here it made Jessica and Karen turn pale, while that I on the other hand was regretting knowing the idea of Kara.
"Don't worry Jessica, Benja will be fine after all. Kara will catch him every time he gets close to hitting the ground so nothing will happen." Daiana would say for sure seeing how Kara returned with me in her arms, while I on the other hand was shaking with wide eyes which made Jessica and Karen very worried.
"Alright, let's try again. Ready Benja?" the Kryptonian girl would ask with a smile.
"Kara, if this is the time I accidentally touched your breasts, forgive me." I said while she was shaking, however Kara would let me go by making me fall again, still smiling.
"Benja, this has nothing to do with when you touched my breasts, I just like to see you when you get scared." Kara kept smiling to herself as she flew to catch me again.
"Girls, I think I already know how we can awaken the air element of benja." Zatanna would say but she would notice that she was alone at the base.
"Where are everybody?." the girl magic would ask, however she would notice a note that Barbara had left on the table where Zatanna was, when she read the note she would see that we had all gone to Lex Luthor's building which would leave her confused, without wasting time she would take her things and in a magic flash would appear right next to Jessica and Karen.
"Sorry for the delay, girls. But I've been looking for a way to activate Benja's air element." Zatanna would say, but I noticed that Jessica and Karen looked completely concerned, Barbara and Daiana looked a bit confused but then she would realize that Kara was holding me on the edge of the building, which worried her a bit since that was completely dangerous.
"Ready Benja ?." Kara would ask, she was determined that this way she could awaken the air element.
"K-kara, we've done t-this twenty-three times already, couldn't we take a b-break?" I asked while I was completely terrified to the point that my skin was now a ghostly shade.
"Mmmm no." was the only thing kara said before letting me fall again, that made Zatanna's heart was about to leave her chest from what she saw, she knew clearly that I could use my fire element to avoid falling but at speed in which I was falling combined with my fear of heights made my body stop responding.
"Kara! What do you think you are doing!?." a shocked Zatanna would say who had seen everything with shock.
"Don't worry Zatanna, we are only helping our partner to awaken his new power and Kara had this idea, but we have already done the process twenty three times and it still does not work." Daiana would say which made Zatanna even more shocked.
"Are they crazy!?. Benja is very afraid of heights!". the magical girl would say, Jessica hearing that would not think twice and use her ring, before Kara could go to catch me, she would see how Jessica now with her green lantern suit would fly straight to where she was and create a giant baseball glove to catch me.
"Benja, my goodness. Are you okay?" a scared Jessica would ask, Zatanna and Karen would not lose has and they approached where I was. However they were surprised when he would suddenly jump where they were trapping Jessica, Karen and Zatanna in a tight hug.
"Please, I don't want to continue with this idea ever." I said with fear in my voice as I hugged the three girls tighter, who noticed how terrified I was.
"So Benja is afraid of heights? For Athenea I'm really sorry Benja." Daiana would say embarrassed, now we were all at my house, Barbara was reading my comics, Karen was sitting next to me with a cup of tea with honey, Jessica was holding my hand to try to relax and Zatanna was looking annoyed at Kara.
"It's okay Daiana, it is understandable that they will forget my fear of heights. Don't worry, the important thing is that no one was hurt." I said with a shaky smile as I tried to have some tea.
"No one was hurt, but someone will be sent to another dimension." Zatanna would say annoyed staring at Kara.
"I still think we should keep trying, I would swear Benja was already doing it." The Kryptonian girl said crossed her arms, not realizing that when I heard that comment she almost dropped the cup of tea, that made Zatanna get a little more upset.
"No one will throw Benja out of that building again, I hope you will apologize soon Kara." the magical girl would say to which Kara responded with a simple "whatever".
"Well Zatanna, could you tell us how Benja will be able to awaken his element?" Barbara would ask curiously.
"To awaken the air element, Benja must be in his mental space and stay synchronized with the wind, once that happens his body will begin to feel lighter, when that happens it means that the air element is synchronized with Benja and the element will be waking up little by little. It is a process that requires a lot of concentration and meditation, there is no problem with that but now we have a little problem ", Zatanna would say, calling everyone's attention.
"What is the problem?." Barbara would ask
"Thanks to Kara's idea, Benja is in a state of extreme fear, which means that Benja will not be able to concentrate because when his body starts to float due to his meditative state he will think that he will fall back into Lex Luthor's building". the magical girl would say as she looked at Kara, the Kryptonian girl upon hearing that she scratched her arm with a little shyness.
"Don't worry Kara, I know you want to help me. It's okay." I said with a weak smile.
"It's okay Benja, I'm still very sorry I did this to you regardless of your fear of heights." Kara would say as she looked away.
"Well, one of us will have to stay with Benja until she recovers. Who can stay?" Zatanna asked, she would agree to stay to help however she had some things to do with her father so she would be busy.
"I could." Kara would say but then I notice the look of the magical girl.
"You couldn't take care of two rabbits, now you want to take care of someone who is completely terrified of what you did? I'm sorry Kara, but I think you helped enough already." Zatanna would say seriously.
"I could take care of Benja." Barbara would say raising her hand calling everyone's attention including my attention.
"Are you sure Barbara?. I don't want to be a bother to you." I said a little worried.
"It's okay Benja, don't worry." Barbara would say for sure.
"It's decided, Barbara will stay with Benja." Daiana would say.
"Alright, you better rest today was a tiring night and you better go to sleep." Jessica would say getting nods from all of us.
"Good night girls." I said as I finished my cup of tea and put it on my nightstand.
"Rest my dear assistant, try to regain strength." Zatanna would say, hearing that she said "dear" made my heart race suddenly and my face turn red, Kara, Jessica and Daiana did not understand why they had felt a prick in their hearts but they decided not to make it impossible yet that that puncture had made them a bit uncomfortable.
"Bye Benja." the rest of the team said as they went to rest, leaving me with Barbara in my room.
"I am very sorry for not having intervened Benja, I forgot that you told us about your fear of heights and injections." Barbara would say somewhat embarrassed, on my first day when I was here in question 59 she had asked me what was my greatest fear and I had answered that my fear was injections and heights.
"Don't worry Barbara, I guess we were all focused on wanting to catch that red flash that we forgot my fear of heights, so don't worry, that's understanding." I said smiling.
"Hey, I couldn't help but see that you have a wide variety of comics and manga. You must really like this kind of thing." the redhead would say watching all the manga and comics.
"Oh yeah, in my dimension it was a hobby to raise enough money to buy any manga that is about to come out of my favorite series." I said smiling.
"You won't mind if I borrow some, right?" Barbara would ask, in that she would notice that she would give him a nod of her head giving him a sign that she could take whatever comic she likes. "Thanks Benja." the redhead would say again as she started to pick up any comics to start reading them since she was curious, maybe she could find some comics that she likes besides Batman ones.
I slowly began to close my eyes due to exhaustion and in less than a blink of an eye I had fallen asleep due to exhaustion.
The first thing I felt in my body was the softness and comfort of my bed, however I began to feel different as if all the passage of my body began to disappear completely. A couple of seconds later I started to feel completely light and I no longer felt the mattress, when I opened my eyes I was surprised that I was floating in the middle of nowhere, there was no ground where I could see, everything was an endless emptiness. Noticing this, I would begin to fall into the void without being able to move my body, the only thing I could do was scream as I fell and kept falling.
"Ah!!" I screamed completely exalted while touching my chest, I felt like I might suffer from cardiac arrest. When I was already relaxed I would notice that it was 3 in the morning and I would see Barbara who had fallen asleep in one of the armchairs in the room with a sleeve in her hand, seeing this I would stand up and carry the redhead like a princess something that made me a little red. Slowly I would approach my bed leaving Barbara lying on my bed, I would shyly approach Barbara's forehead and kiss her forehead.
"Rest Barbara." I said with a small smile before putting myself on the ground and began to meditate a bit trying to awaken the air element, despite having some fear, I had to try.
The next morning Barbara was woken up when she heard a sharp noise and when she opened her eyes she realized that it was me, I had tried to awaken the air element but every time it seemed to be successful, my fear dominated me and made me fall directly to the ground.
"Ouch. That hurt, oh good morning Barbara." I said with a shy smile when I noticed that Barbara was awake.
"Good morning Benja, what are you doing?", The redhead would ask as she sat on the bed.
"I was just trying to control my air element, but every time I succeed in the end I always end up failing." I said with as he lowered his head.
"Could you tell me what happens?" Barbara would ask curiously.
"When I start to meditate and enter my mental space in order to awaken the air element, my body starts to float and it makes me worried and a little scared. After that I lose concentration and fall to the ground. I tried all night , but in the end I always fail. " I said while letting out a defeated sigh.
"I have an idea." Barbara would say, drawing my attention. "I will stand by your side and hold your hand, so when you start to float you can feel that someone is there and they will not let go of you maybe so you can awaken your air element." Barbara would say with a smile.
"We don't lose anything by trying, let's do it Barbara." I said with a smile, now I was excited because I was thinking that maybe this would work.
"Very good." the redhead would say as she sat next to me and would take me by the hand, that action made me blush a little but on that I would close my eyes and begin to concentrate.
'You can do it, benja.' Barbara thought to herself hopefully.
A few seconds passed and Barbara would notice that she was slowly beginning to float, she also noticed that she was beginning to sweat and breathe with some nervousness.
"Take it easy Benja, remember that here I am, don't be scared." Barbara would say holding my hand more tightly, she also noticed that I had done the same, slowly she saw how I was calming down and had intertwined my fingers with hers making Barbara blush a little for that. But she would see how she was floating a little more.
Suddenly Barbara saw how the curtains in the room were moving and a light breeze entered the room, she would also notice how my hair was beginning to defy gravity while a white glow began to cover my body, suddenly she would notice how that breeze was increasing its strength causing some comics and manga to fall to the floor, the wind in the room was increasing surprisingly causing some furniture to float a few inches off the floor but luckily nothing was being damaged.
"That's Benja, you're doing it !." Barbara would say enthusiastically even holding my hand.
Slowly I would see that the brightness in my body was increasing to the point that Barbara had to close her eyes for a few moments, however then I would feel that the wind was calming down and when I opened my eyes I would see that now my hair was defying gravity making my locks move as if the wind was blowing them even though the air in the room was now stable.
"Wow, Benja. You did it !." the redhead would say with emotion.
When I opened my eyes, they were still magenta in color but now I could feel that my body was lighter than before, I felt that the wind could really carry me very easily, I would slowly stop floating and I would look at Barbara with a huge smile.
"I made it, Babs I was finally able to do it! And all thanks to you !." I said with emotion and then hugged Barbara tightly starting to float around the room while she let out little laughs
Barbara returned the hug with a smile but also with a slight blush.
"You're welcome Benja, you know I like to help my friends. I already want everyone to see your new element." Barbara would say with a huge smile.
"I think I have an idea to do that." I said smiling.
"Barbara, why did you ask us to come back here?" Daiana would ask confused.
We had called the rest of the girls to come see what Barbara and I had accomplished, yet we hadn't told them anything about the item we wanted it to be a surprise.
"We just wanted you to see something, right Benja?" Barbara would ask as she looked at me, I was in my hereo suit ready for the show.
"What are we supposed to see Babs?" kara would ask crossed her arms
Hearing that I would put on a relaxed smile as I stood up, everyone would see how I was approaching the edge of the building still smiling.
"Umm, Benja? What are you doing?" a worried Karen would ask.
"You know girls, there a nice sight here. I should get closer." I said smiling, however at that moment I would drop making everyone worry except Barbara.
"Kara, catch him !." Daiana would say worried, before the Kryptonian girl could go looking for me they would see how she would now be flying around Lex Luthor's building while laughing.
"I see it and I don't believe it, Benja you're flying !." Zatanna would say with a huge smile.
"That's right girls, thanks to Barbara I was able to awaken the air element." I said with a huge smile as I returned to the rest of the team.
"Impressive, well done Barbara and I see that Benja was finally able to overcome her fear of heights." Daiana would say with a huge smile.
"Actually, I'm still afraid of heights. I just refrained from yelling." I said as he scratched the back of my neck with a shy smile.
"I already want to see how that flash tries to beat you in a race." Kara would say with a smile.
"Very good team, we must prepare for tonight." Daiana would say receiving nods from all of us.
Night had come, we are all checking every corner of the city to find any trace of the red flash.
"He asked me where that red flash is." I said while I was jumping from one building to another with the help of the air element.
"Don't worry elemental mage, this time we're going to catch him." Daiana would say for sure.
"Guys I think I see something coming up." Kara would say, hearing that we all stopped.
"Very well, Benja, it's your turn. Remember, you are still learning to control the air element so be very careful and try not to use it too much as it is an element that you have awakened you still do not control well, okay?" Zatanna would ask as he looked at me.
"It's okay Zatanna, I'll be careful." I said smiling.
At that moment we would see the same flash that we had seen yesterday, without thinking I would go directly to the street just when that flash had passed, at that moment a white glow would cover me completely and I would start running at an amazing speed trying to catch up with that flash.
"Come on sisters, we can't leave our partner all the work." Daiana would say smiling, everyone nodded and would follow the Amazon trying to keep up with me.
Whatever this thing is, it was really very fast, despite having awakened my air element it was difficult for me to reach it, I could only follow it at a certain distance but I knew well that if it didn't go faster we could lose it so without wasting time I would increase the speed and the glow covering my body would get brighter causing my speed to increase.
"I must admit that I am surprised, no one is able to match my speed but you are succeeding, let's see if you can go faster." I was very surprised to hear that, it turns out that this flash was actually a person and I would see how it had increased its speed making it almost impossible to see it.
"Whoever you are, for the good of the city I'm not giving up." I said with determination as I increased my speed making this turn into a race.
"Batgirl, can you see anything?." Daiana would ask as she looked at Barbara.
"I can't see anything, they increased their speeds so much that now I can practically not know where they are going." Barbara would say, analyzing the city's security cameras.
"Do you think Benja will catch him?" a worried Karen would ask.
"Don't worry Bumblebee, Benja doesn't give up so easily. I'm sure he'll catch him." Daiana would say with confidence.
Back in the race, that guy and I were running at a speed that to the human eye would only be two spots of red and white, but without a doubt I was getting tired and it was because using my air element without training it took up a lot of my energy for which I was already wearing myself out.
"I am very surprised, I must admit that you are the first person to keep up with me, I must admit that you are very good." the subject would say, he seemed very surprised and at the same time excited.
'I can't go on like this, at this rate I'm going to lose all my energy. I must take him down with a single attack. ' I told myself mentally as I prepare an attack.
"I'd like to stay and keep talking to you, but I have to go. See you soon." the subject would say as he increased his speed more, when I saw this I was surprised but I knew that I should do it now or never.
"Element air: Crescent of air !." I said while jumping and launching a side kick in the air, when performing that movement a crescent made of air was directed at the subject who without realizing he would receive said attack that would make him fall to the ground like me.
Before the subject had a chance to leave, his legs would be tied up by two roots that emerged from the ground.
"I'm not going to lie, I really enjoyed the race. But now is the time to face off." I said that as I got closer to the subject, I could see that the attack he had used had removed his mask, so when I saw it my eyes snapped open.
"Barry?." I said completely surprised by what was in front of me.
The revelation of the name made Barry nervous and he would see that his mask was on the ground but he was too far away to reach it.
"Barry, you were that red flash we saw yesterday." I said completely surprised.
"How do you know my name?." my sprinter friend would ask curiously.
"Barry, it's me. Benjamin" I said as I took off my mask and my hood showing my face which left Barry very surprised.
"Benja? Is it really you?" Barry would ask surprised to what I answered saying yes.
"How could you match my speed?" my sprinter friend would ask curiously
"I also want to know how fast you are, but I think I'm not the only one who wants to know that." I said as I looked back and it was because I was hearing the rest of the girls approach.
Benja, are you sure about this?" a nervous Barry would ask.
"Don't worry, your secret is safe with us." I said for sure.
The night passed with complete tranquility, Barry had told us that he had been that red flash that we had seen the night before, but he also told us that his name here was Flash and that if we needed something we could count on his help, after that talk we all decided to continue patrolling but we had also sworn not to tell anyone about Barry and his life hereo.
"This is incredible, Barry is a hero like us and we can count on his help when we need it. We did have a very intense night, especially with the race you had against him." Barbara would say as she looked at me.
"I must admit it was fun racing against Barry, I hope we can repeat the race one day." I said with a smile as Barbara and I stopped walking to watch the sunrise.
"Barbara, thank you very much. If it weren't for you, I'm sure I would never ever be able to awaken the air element." I said while looking at the redhead with a smile.
"Don't worry Benja, I like to help my friends." Barbara would say with the same smile, she would nevertheless blush when she saw how she had given him a kiss on her cheek, leaving her surprised.
"I think you deserve a reward for helping me today." I said smiling, but I would also blush when Barbara would kiss me back, leaving me surprised as well.
"Better go rest Benja, see you later." Barbara said as she left me alone while she touched my cheek where she had kissed me, a small smile appeared on my face as I began to walk home as well, without a doubt today was a very long night but also incredible.
